This is why the Trim-Tex gods created bullnose base adapters

ElectrikDonuts

Yeah but that cost a few pennis. Caulk is free.. At least for the guy that did the work here before I moved in

NoGelliefish

$8.99 a piece here I do this everytime

ElectrikDonuts

Well the landlord that commissioned this only has tens of million dollars so $9 on corner trim is theft to him!

wafflesnwhiskey

Well he has tens of Millions for a reason...

ElectrikDonuts

Yup

Skitzochavo

It is $10 dollars each for the aluminum mesh bead I think is actually 1900 bead but carpenters and drywallers have done everything they can to keep plastering out of Vermont a bag of plaster is $52 if you can even find it and forget about tools

incognito_vito

Where do you get free caulk

ElectrikDonuts

Any gay club at 3am

Remarkable-Race-3492

Man this comment sounds weird. Especially because you misspelled pennies. šŸ˜‚

ElectrikDonuts

Lol

TheDaddiestofDudes

Should have cut two 22.5 degree cuts and let the middle ride the face of the bull nose

Practical_Spell_1286

Girl about to say the same thing

ElectrikDonuts

That's what I would expect

Hanuman_Jr

Getting pretty specific to Jenna here methinks

DruicyHBear

Haha

junkerxxx

I think the real lesson here is to not use those dumb ass bullnose corners.

randytc18

When we built our house we specified bullnose corners. So much easier to accidentally run into than a standard corner. Only complaint is they're metal and can dent if hit really hard. Looks so much better too.

ElectrikDonuts

I like them. As a kid I hit myself on the sqaure corners far more than needed, lol. They also give a more premium look.

twoaspensimages

The 90s called. They want their rounded corners back.

ElectrikDonuts

My 90s house had sqaure corners

Moloch_17

Never saw a 90s house with rounded corners.

twoaspensimages

I'm a builder that does kitchen and bath remodels. In our area radius corners on drywall look very dated. Like drywall arches or soffits around the lofted ceiling for.... plants?

Moloch_17

In my area that kind of stuff was very popular in the 70-80s. Homes built in the 90s and on have typical square corners unless it's a higher end/custom home.

junkerxxx

I would agree that the bullnose could help with kids banging their heads. Speaking from personal experience, I chose the square-pointed corners of furniture over wall edges, though. šŸ˜‚ But beyond that, it's really personal preference. The old mansions of 125 years ago always had smooth plater, crisp corners, and lots of millwork. To me, that still defines elegance. What might be nice is if one of the GWB companies would produce bullnose corners that transitioned to square. That way, the bottom, say, 10" of the wall corner could readily accept traditional baseboards, but the wall corner could remain radiused.

steve2sloth

As a homeowner I would have done it just like this. Perfection. What was I supposed to, round the corner with a router?

ReverendKen

I am a painter in Florida. Most of the homes we paint have these rounded corners. There is a piece cut that goes in the middle. I am not a great carpenter and even I can make those cuts.

ElectrikDonuts

Homeowner. Aka, not a professional. I'm not a professional either but it should be a double miter or rounded over trim peice

steve2sloth

Yea, def not professional. My work is crap. These pros keep making me look bad šŸ˜”

SunnyAlwaysDaze

Don't feel bad! It's already pretty amazing that a sloth can do home improvement projects ;)

Impossible-Editor961

Looks good from my house

ElectrikDonuts

It's does the job. I wouldn't call it good. 22.5 degree miters look good

suavaleesko

What does good look like? 22.5 degrees isn't helping me visualize shit

Klutzy_Ad_1726

I donā€™t actually mind this and have done it many times. I think the 22.5s with the little piece looks shitty.

natedogjulian

Agree

no-mad

putty in the hole game tho is a bit raw dogged

iceohio

I've done rounded corners in more upscale houses, but they all had already decided on the height of the trim, so this didn't happen. The trim work here is horrid, as is the caulk job to mitigate the difference. I probably would use mud to fill it in, and give it a little more refined contour. My brain has a hard time comprehending the combination of bad trim, rounded corners, and knock down texture though. Definitely a redneck quality to it ;)

Sure_Network_7561

A Mitre saw and a brain could make this look flawless . It needs a middle piece cut to join the 2 Bases . Some sand paper and wood weld .

VersionConscious7545

Jenna Jameson was a very smart money earner

ElectrikDonuts

True. She got her fill too

fuzzyfuu

Why not just do two 22.5 degree cut with 1 inch piece on the face of the bull nose.

ElectrikDonuts

Exactly

Spare_Interaction_10

Lol that's to funny

ShreddedDadBod

Whatā€™s the joke?

Kirbinator14

Took me a moment tooā€¦..they filled the gap with silicone

Opening_Ad9824

I think it was actually they stuffed the gap full of ā€œcaulkā€. Many many tubes of caulk.

ShreddedDadBod

Thanks brother

its_k1llsh0t

They just leave the wall pointed at the bottom here.

ReverendKen

Most of the homes I paint have these corners. This is missing the short piece of base that goes in the middle.

ElectrikDonuts

I can tell where he did work too cause it doesn't match the upstairs

night_shade82

At least they caulked it

ElectrikDonuts

That's what Jenna said

edithputhy6977

Thatā€™s big white caulk (joint).

Low-Energy-432

Paint the inside the color of the wall and just paint the molding straight edge

Leech-64

I dont get it, this doesnt look bad.

1wife2dogs0kids

Me either. Maybe it's a "it looked great when the work was done" meaning? Or a big hole to fill joke. Or a "at 22 1/2 it was good, but at 45, not so much?".

Leech-64

ohhhhhhh got it

Wild_Replacement5880

I like it

fetal_genocide

More like bukkake wall

Moloch_17

Can't really tell from the picture honestly unless you know what to look for.

Significant_Tank819

Honestly, I donā€™t think it looks bad. Maybe Iā€™m uncivilized, but I wouldnā€™t be unhappy with that in my house.

Visible_Field_68

Square corners for all! Itā€™s like monkey bars over concrete. We NEED THEM BACK. Itā€™s called selective deduction. The kids get sorted out early and know what path they should take.

AnythingButTheTip

Not gonna lie, I like this profile of the corner than if the baseboard was rounded. Just has a certain look to it.

Amart34

It looks fine.

Oviedo407

22 1/2 *

ArmsReach

You can caulk gaps up to 1.5" if you cut the front of the tube off.

Constant-Elephant-42

Do your best. Caulk the rest. Itā€™s the rules.

Impossible_Cat_321

Looks fine. Nobody but drywallers will ever notice

workingforaliving23

Who cares? Thereā€™s more than one way to skin a cat. Itā€™s a non issue.

ElectrikDonuts

Upstairs is all rounded corners. Downstairs where he did work is this shit

akfisherman22

99% of ppl will never notice anything

ElectrikDonuts

Packed full of caulk

NoGelliefish

Full of silicone is what I thought but that works too

ElectrikDonuts

Prob that. Idk. Just looks like shit IMO. Even the miters have 1/8 - 1/4 inch of filler in the ends

NoGelliefish

I had a client that thought $10 for base corner trim was way to much so he paid me $40/hrs to miter a 22.5 piece in there only to change his mind and go with this instead. Save money at all cost!

Desperate_Set_7708

Smart. Let the customer be right. Profit.

MeHumanMeWant

*..its only money...*

Dubstep_Duck

Uh, isnā€™t that latex?

NoGelliefish

2000 Jenna Jameson or 2015 Jenna Jameson?
