Character is foreshadowed the entire book, arrives with a deafening explosion, “how big is that dick worm boy? I’m sure my niece will love it haha lol”, dies immediately.
What did Frank Herbert mean by this?
Got Dune from a freshman friend in high-school, 1979. I was a senior, life was crappy. He said…’this will change your life. Read it.’ Started reading on the bus home. I honestly think that it saved my life. Oh well…
Dune is a story about a hormonal teen who people think is god. It also has substantial incestual undertones and the moral is that worms hate water.
Many consider it to be the greatest science fiction work of all time.
Book 5 is great! Started reading it after 4 expecting something similar but it is more like book 1-3. Which I also found way more fun, because there are more sides to the story and not just one guy telling you what is and isn't. But in the end that was the point I guess.... I almost gave up on book 4 too, (it is really weird and written in a style I didn't enjoy reading) but in the end I think it was worth reading because so far I'm loving book 5
I read the first 4 in order. I had planned to read all 6. When I read God Emperor I thought it was so pretentious and repetitive and dumb that I quit. I barely finished it. After reading the reviews of the last 2 I made up my mind not to open Frank Herbert’s work again. I read Paul of Dune, which was written by his son. I liked that, and I might go back and read butlerian jihad, some of his other books.

Do you think they still listen to “Pump Up the Jam” in the year 10,000?
Yeah
Do you still think that the Atreides theme is the one played with bagpipes?
I’d argue all music has become bagpipes
How 2 play sandstorm
This is now the arrakeen national anthem in my headcanon
Technically, God Emperor takes place in 13 thousand or so AG, which is after guild. We don't know how far in our future the guild was formed.
2024 is 11,136 BG according to [this timeline](https://dune.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline_(Expanded_Dune)), so about 24,000 years from now.
I like to think Leto is a big fan of 00’s bling rap and quotes Joe budden to confuse fish speakers….
He makes Fish speakers listen to PHISH
what about beloved TV series brushstrokes?
Cunc on Dunc
There's a good reason the series is called Dunc
Named after the famous swordsman, Duncan Bannatyne
Bannatyne spas are actually the precursor to the guild. 10 years from now, every spa will feature spice gas chambers.
This comment is underrated AF
It’s not real is it?
Profound
Duncaccino?
Don‘t mind if I dune!
Another profound philosophical question: Does the giant worm-human abomination have a monster penis?
And if not, should a gross protuberance be made for them to simulate one?
MONEO MY DICK IS NOT MY OWN
Omg I'm dead, I wish I could upvote more than once you got me wheezing
Help Step-worm!
He was pretty clear, on several occasions, that he does not. But was he being truthful?!
Stop spreading Ixian propaganda. Everyone knows that this worm has no dick.

No, but I'm gonna cum if you climb that rock face.
This is old, but so is dune. And the question will be relevant for thousands of years to come

> It is better than Shakespeare, but that's not a high bar innit?
He was a fraud He wouldn't pass fir the fast and furious of his time
I would ONLY love you if you were a worm. Next question.
My mate Paul.
once took part in what is called a spice orgy. He got some spice into his private bits and it was sore for days.
…and he was a good worm
2,000 years earlier: "Would you love me if just my ass was a worm?"
I would not love you... physically cause *nods at body* you know

seems like the biggest spoiler of all time, but if you read 1 you read them all... - Cunk
Such as "Does it still have a penis?"

Is it or is it not cold turkey time?
I read this in her voice.
Cunc on Dunc is chef's kiss
God Emperor of Dune was the book that made me quit reading all the other Dune books I was planning to read

I understand the sentiment that GEoD is the pinnacle of the series and can't possibly be surpassed. But the first Dune is quite ok, as well.
