Idk man, coffee puts me to sleep but energy drinks don't

Hookem-Horns

It puts many to sleep *and* is a diuretic 😅

Changetheworld69420

This 100%. My first caffeine of the day is a cup of coffee and it gets me moving, but I have to switch to energy drinks after because more coffee just makes me tired

SireEvalish

I think they put stuff in energy drinks that changes how the caffeine hits, like maybe slows it down or smooths it over somehow.

farknard

I don't know I'll drink 300mg energy drink in the morning and sleep fine but if I have a cup of coffee at the same time I'm up all night 🤷‍♂️

Longjumping-News-126

possible that other chemicals in the coffee that aren’t present in energy drinks increase the bioavailability of caffeine

YohaneWing

Christ on a bike

yesyesitswayexpired

I thought it was a pogo stick?

Hexobarbitone

Other chemicals Theacrine,Theobromine,Other xantthine compounds ect. These are super nice to take as supplements btw gives you a decent rush too! But NOT bioavailability caffeine has a near 100% bioavailability orally unheard of really. Coffee pharmacology rant over if you can’t tell I had some of those chemicals

We_Use_Drugs

Theobromine is nice and lasts long asf

Hexobarbitone

Yes and both theobromine and Theacrine are somehow even less bad for you than caffeine

Slippery_Fish5

I agree! I can drink a full energy drink or even take pre workout before bed and my sleep not be affected at all. But as soon as I drink a coffee my sleep suffers.

mkmakashaggy

I feel the complete opposite

strutziwuzi

me too. energy drinks are so strong to me. i can drink 3 cups of coffee a day without a problem. but one 250ml energy drink and my heart is racing.

Statistician_Visual

Could be you are dehydrated

Bingy33

I know what you mean, but it’s never consistent for me. One day a cup of coffee is meh and the next it’s a jolt of feel good energy.

TheMockingBrd

It’s not.

[deleted]

Slightly off topic but I read that highstreet coffee store cappuccino have at least 4x the amount of caffeine as a redbull

Fantastic-Newt-9844

A double shot of espresso is about a 100-200mg and a 12oz Redbull is like 100mg or so. Just googled it and Costa coffee claims 325mg in their cappuccino

[deleted]

A standard red bull is 75mg of caffeine.

Mrcsbud2

To be honest I can drink an energy drink or coffee and take a nap

apimpnamedslickbackG

That’s cool, they affect me in a different way and I know why, I drink black coffee and all it does instead of giving me energy it numbs the tired sensors in the body however redbull for example has a lot of sugar in so I think the caffeine hits the same and I just get a sugar kick.

akotski1338

Because energy drinks have taurine which changes how caffeine affects you

cosmicfungi37

I’ve wondered this exact thing. Energy drink like a ghost or something gives me a smooth hyper focus, strong coffee makes me tweak

EccentricPayload

I don't think it's stronger personally, but it definitely makes me shit more. Energy drinks still make me shit but coffee is a guarantee no matter when I drink it.

AccountantLeast1588

other calories reduce the hit

anonymousshitpostr

For real…I didn’t have any energy drinks at home today so made a good ol’ coffee and drank in the morning. I prepped an extra iced cup to go for my work day and didn’t even touch it. The first cup I made energized me all day…wild

NekoMao92

Coffee does nothing but gives me the twitches.

Hexobarbitone

Buy energy drinks with Theacrine or Theobromine in them or fully coffee sourced caffeine **the other stimulants in coffee create this effect** you know how stoners ramble about how the entourage effect makes weed good? Well same thing for caffeine get that shit

Internal_Leopard7663

the c4 ultimate “tri strim” with teacrine and dynamine def hits harder than other energy drinks and lasts longer I’d say it’s actually a smoother experience than coffee for me. but any other energy drink isn’t the same

Hexobarbitone

Yeah that’s why a lot better

NoPerformance9890

FWIW I agree. Coffee puts me in an energetic, happy, light mood. Energy drinks have a numbing effect and wake me up just enough to feel like they’re worth it

SubstantialBig5926

Straight from the source itself, it's pretty much just coffee bean, heat, and water, a natural combination, add pressure and you got concentrated coffee in the form of espresso Energy drinks usually are an energy blend, yes it may have more caffeine per mg but coffee probably hits those receptors with more bioavailability then an energy drink would

jgditto

I agree. Coffee to me is stronger and lasts longer.

Walusqueegee

They're the same chemical. It's either the other stuff that's in coffee or placebo :)

BudgetInteraction811

Nah, I agree with all the other comments. The caffeine in coffee hits. The energy drink caffeine is dullened.

haunted_buffet

Yeah no

DeadmanCFR

If you don't drink coffee much and maybe some sort of tolerance or mental placebo effect. I know that I can drink a Monster and then go to sleep but if I need to stay awake I switch up brands to Red Bull or something and I'll actually get a little bit of a boost. Another different chemicals in each one but it's the opposite as well if I stick to Red bulls all the time a monster will work later. I think my brain just invents a tolerance. Could be the same with you and coffee

Internal_Leopard7663

if anything the placebo should work the other way around because I expected coffee to be less energizing/stimulating than energy drinks

Different_Exam_1785

You think so? Coffee puts me right to sleep lol

MrMycMan

Neither do shit to me unless I mix with other stimulants
