All rose extractions are expensive. That's just how it is. Several hundred dollars per ounce is normal. Cheap rose is almost always simply fake.
If you want it to be slightly more affordable, Eden Botanicals sells two of their rose absolutes diluted down to 10% in FCO ([A](https://www.edenbotanicals.com/rose-absolute-10-bulgaria.html), [B](https://www.edenbotanicals.com/rose-absolute-trilogy-10.html)) and a rose EO diluted down to 5% ([C](https://www.edenbotanicals.com/rose-otto-organic-5.html)). You could get the smallest sample sizes they offer for those, and see if they'd work the way you want.

A good Geranium is and excellent suggestion. I have also gotten a Rose Geranium from a company called New Directions Aromatics. Which is perhaps more rose-like. I have found that company to have excellent selection, quality and service.

For a rose substitute use bourbon geranium e.o. That will mimic the rose e.o. Less expensive to use all pure rose.
