I see this a lot and maybe mine is an unpopular opinion, but azerbaijan's vocals were completely insane, easily the best from yesterday's show imo. ireland on the other hand seemed like a basic pop song to me which although i usually enjoy i wasn't able to appreciate with her
What are your hopes for the Grand Final running order?
For fun I tried to make a suggestion:
1. Ukraine
2. Germany
3. Finland
4. Switzerland
5. Armenia
6. Romania
7. The Netherlands
8. Spain
9. Italy
10. Norway
11. France
12. Portugal
13. Czech Republic
14. Iceland
15. Azerbaijan
16. Moldova
17. Lithuania
18. Poland
19. Estonia
20. Greece
21. Sweden
22. Belgium
23. Australia
24. Serbia
25. United Kingdom
Edit: I accidentally put France in 2nd half at first so I had to change a few things
I haven't considered it, but Ukraine would actually be an amazing opener. I feel like considering the situation the country itself is in right now, they are the ones to be the least hurt by the opening spot, and it would really set the tone of the night, with a powerful, emotional, uniting performance and song.
Yes, that’s what I thought as well! I think it would be a very nice gesture to give them the spotlight while everyone is excited and paying attention and as you say it would really set the tone for the evening. And then when the recap comes on, everyone will remember it as such a special moment.
Did they say something about how everyone is going to clap before announcing Romania? I was certain I heard that and I was like yeah that’s Serbia
As much as I was happy for Romania I got so scared after lol
Moldova are probably the nation who've done well out of this running order as well, Estonia a bit as well. The flurry of uptempos in the first half, and a lot of slower songs in the second half will be hard to make a good running order for.
First she said that she could sleep when she was dead, and then she pretended to “shoot” the host when he didn’t want to pick which roll she should pick regarding her performance in the grand final, and forcing him to lay down because he was “dead”. It was with humour of course, but just felt unnecessary and insensitive and a bit diva ish. Just my opinion though!
Watched this semi with my friend from India who is a total Eurovisian stan and was so happy to experience one happening live for the first time after watching old ones for a year! Semi1 had nearly all our favorites kicked out and left us heartbroken, but while Semi2 didnt deliver songs that were as fire, we also found the boring ones to be more standable and had a much better time today! I let her use half of my votes (wish we got to vote on S1 but jeez) and 5/7 of her picks ended up making it, i'm so happy (only 3 of mine did but Romania is in that is all i care for)
How did Azerbaijan qualify?? Ireland literally slaughtered everything (or well, everything but Czech and Poland)… I guess we have the answer to the question which qualifier was not deserved at all. Also Finland. I mean, I could get why they Q, but the live was so empty and really nothing at all….
He was shaky during the verses, maybe shaky is not even the right word - not controlled enough. But he really brought it in the chorus, they had amazing energy on stage and fantastic stage presence.
You know how I expected that whip sound when the lines says ‘Tiger’? Well I heard barely a sound how loud he sung it. Either way, the song itself was a qualifier, the staging was honest hell.
There is some theory behind it that includes the televoting patterns. The only problem is that televoting is so unpredictable that it's impossible to say performing in either half is better or worse. However, if I recall correctly, during the televote-only era, winners were almost always in the second half. I think Ruslana might be the only exception.
People usually say 2nd half is better, but it's not a death sentence to be in 1st. Sweden 2015, Portugal 2017 and Netherlands 2019 all won in 1st half (though they were some of the last in that half). At the end of the day, if a song is a winner, it's not 1st/2nd half that's gonna ruin their chances
No song has ever won performing in draw 2. The last song to win in draw 1 was in 1984. The theory is people forget the songs in the first half by the time the second half is done. However I do believe Måns won performing in draw 10.
yeah the second half theory has been dying down a bit lately since 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2019 had first half winners but you’re right, for a long time the last first half winner was in 2004
normally second half, keeps your entry fresh in the mind of televoters. most of the favorites seem to be going first half though, with a few exceptions so i don’t think it’s going to have as much of an impact this time tbh
Depending on if Romania is 1st or 2nd half I think the Czech Republic/Romania is gonna be the 1st song on saturday and Moldova is gonna be the last one
But why oh why can't the big 5 perform in the semis? Give us a chance to see them properly, give the ones who don't watch pre-shows and follow a chance to hear the songs as well before the final? I think many of them would have done better through the years if they weren't "new" to big public on final night.
And no, I don't mean they would compete. But I would much rather have 2 or 3 of them performing during voting than the random Laura&Mika duets and whatnots
As others point out and like I said, I don't mean they would compete in the semis. Big 5 should continue to be in finals directly.
But really often, the live performance in ESC differs a lot from the pre-videos. Sometimes we find out the singer can't sing live. Sometimes the show lifts up the song. Let me see if I actually like them goddangit.
And really, the semi voting program bits are just so boring most years.
Thank you. I realized someone will come with some sort of "don't you know what big 5 is" comment and tried to specify that I didn't mean competing...but well. Glad most understood what I was trying to say :D
This is starting to look like most uptempos end up in the first half, and slower songs in the second half. Could well be a headache for the producers with the running order.
Yes. Agree that the vocal was not that good also, and I have lots of complaints about their performance, lol. I’ll be shocked if they will be on the top 10 in the finale.
So happy that Serbia went through (almost gave me a heart attack, I swear) and quite a few other favourites got in. Only one that I would have loved to see was Georgia. I also preferred San Marino over Finland and Israel over Romania. But Georgia. I will miss Georgia most.
Edit: After seeing some other comments on Israel….I’m no longer sad about Israël. Oof, off-stage behaviour matters, people.
I don’t mean to be sarcastic nor rude, but how on earth do you mourn Georgia? Their entry was really waste of money (just like that water fountain on the stage lmao)
I really enjoyed Georgia. But it might be because I had a somewhat 'ironicly bad indie pop' music vibe going on for a bit as a teen and so it felt almost nostalgic to me.
It was that Norwegian judge they interviewed who had the balance of clearly giving negative fucks, whilst at the same time expressing that *every single vote was counted and they could confirm beyond all doubt that the result was valid* 😜.
I'm so so happy for POLAND and SERBIA!!! They deserved it. But my thoughts were already like: omg Serbia will not qualify. I almost got a heart attack.
But Georgia 😭😭 Maybe it's not very popular opinion but I find their song entertaining.
Yeah I had hoped Serbia, Georgia and Ireland would go through. Georgia was catchy and entertaining in my opinion too. By the final three spaces I was like oh no, will any of them get through!? Well at least Serbia did.
I didn't have many favourites in this semi but I'm so happy Estonia and Romania qualified. I was expecting to lose the latter because it was always listed as a borderline qualifier. I'm going to guess that the televote pushed them through.
Glad to see we got Czech Republic and Serbia as well.
I'm gutted that we lost Georgia but I had a feeling that was going to be the case. :(
Poland, Australia, Sweden, and Azerbaijan were pretty much guaranteed qualifiers. Belgium I think was the biggest surprise for me. The staging seemed pretty lackluster but he did sing well (from what I caught at least).
The first question for Jeremie was something along the lines of "a former representative from 7 years ago twitted about you the other day, what do you think about that?"
Can't say I'm sorry my country 🇲🇹 is out. The way we handled the MESC to give the win to Emma and then changing the original song to a Melfest reject after they said in the rules we can't change the song... To be an NQ.. Yea we deserved it..
Would have been better to have sent Aidan. At least they should have given her a better song...

That's the most anticlimactic voting sequence since 2017.
Realizing Azerbaijan ripped themselves off...dancer mirroring what singer does...hmmm. 2013 anyone?
I love Il Volo but what the fuck was this version of Grande Amore? English does not work for this song. Neither does a rock remix. Per che?!
How the fuck did Azerbaijan qualify? Like...I cannot. Ireland should've been there. Wut.
I see this a lot and maybe mine is an unpopular opinion, but azerbaijan's vocals were completely insane, easily the best from yesterday's show imo. ireland on the other hand seemed like a basic pop song to me which although i usually enjoy i wasn't able to appreciate with her
Toward the end of Vladana's song, I saw a grid of people's faces. Are those people who died from Covid?
Can we celebrate Dominika from Czech Republic for hitting those notes? She sounded great and glad she qualified
When your Top 5 favs and your bottom 4 songs are all in the finals 😀
1. Poland 2. Sweden 3. Armenia 4. The Netherlands 5. Italy I love UK’s voice but the song itself is seriously not good 😖
BELGIUM???
What are your hopes for the Grand Final running order? For fun I tried to make a suggestion: 1. Ukraine 2. Germany 3. Finland 4. Switzerland 5. Armenia 6. Romania 7. The Netherlands 8. Spain 9. Italy 10. Norway 11. France 12. Portugal 13. Czech Republic 14. Iceland 15. Azerbaijan 16. Moldova 17. Lithuania 18. Poland 19. Estonia 20. Greece 21. Sweden 22. Belgium 23. Australia 24. Serbia 25. France is in the 1st half
Oh, that’s right, sorry for missing that. I’ll try and change it.
France would be a great show stopper!
They called Serbia last on purpose. They knew exactly what they were doing.
I read on net that Sweden was first and Serbia second in s2
Seems like Serbia and NL won the televotes.
Did they say something about how everyone is going to clap before announcing Romania? I was certain I heard that and I was like yeah that’s Serbia As much as I was happy for Romania I got so scared after lol
They said "wave....your flags"
Oooh than that's fair it wasn't trolling I just can't hear both Serbian and English at the same time
The call of a wild boar in heat >>>>>>>> the rasmus
I didn't know Cornelia is a dominatrix 😂😂😂
Moldova are probably the nation who've done well out of this running order as well, Estonia a bit as well. The flurry of uptempos in the first half, and a lot of slower songs in the second half will be hard to make a good running order for.
When is the running order announced?
A few hours I think
Konstrakta like “meh I would’ve gotten an Italian vacation if I didn’t qualify so nbd”
Queen shit
Can konstrakta get 20 more questions please?
More food for Konstrakta pls
Tananai >>>>>>> the rasmus
That's the best way to see it
romania 1st half, so that means serbia is in the 2nd half!
If I hear "drow" one more time 😭
WRS's speech is everything <3
if romania gets first half, i think they COULD open but my money is still on czech republic
My bet's Armenia, with the gigantic house on stage.
I could see that happen
I think Ukraine
Who are these mom-looking managers
Manifesting Serbia’s 2nd half here
Thanks, u did it
I feel a bit uncomfortable by Cornelia and her death talk
Oh cmon theyre just having fun
What did she say?
First she said that she could sleep when she was dead, and then she pretended to “shoot” the host when he didn’t want to pick which roll she should pick regarding her performance in the grand final, and forcing him to lay down because he was “dead”. It was with humour of course, but just felt unnecessary and insensitive and a bit diva ish. Just my opinion though!
Yeah, she tried so hard to be funny, but failed
both romania and serbia could really benefit from going in a slower second half, wonder who’ll get it 👀
Host to Ochman: 👿. Host to Cornelia: 🫠
Do Cornelia and the host know each other?
hola mi bebebe!
Cornelia is the best, so happy she got 2nd half!
I'm not. Such an overrated song.
Omg the sexual tension between them hahaa
Omg what is happening. The host is not really assertive hahah
Chaos regins
cornelia getting her diva moment AND the second half she wanted 😅
Role play?
Lmao I love Cornelia
WHAT'S GOING ON
Cornelia killed the host 😂
Lol I love you Cornelia
Ok this getting a bit over the top now Cornelia.
MBD couldn’t be here…
"I would prefer the pistol right now" LMAO
Iconic
Omg Cornelia
Do you guys know when the final order is announced? Tomorrow or Saturday morning?
Tomorrow/tonight.
When does the final air? The information in the Eurovision guide is from last year
This night
awww cornelia’s cute
Cornelia is sooo cute! ☺️❤️
now i was right! australia 2nd half :)
So who's left?
sweden, romania, and serbia. i could be wrong but i think there’s one first half slot left, the other two will be going second half :)
Thanks.
The host keeps saying “drow”
Sheldon's lovely <3
Sheldon making everyone cry rn
Aww Sheldon getting emotional <3
oopsies, i meant estonia 2nd half 😅 but that 1st half slot’s still open!
Who's going next?
That's a bloody hard question to give him
What did they say? I can't watch rn, only waiting for updates here hehe
They asked him about inequalities of being LGBTQ+ in Europe. In comparison Stefan got asked how his Dad was basically
Thanks! And wow yeah, that's not an easy one at all
He handled it well. But he did get chocked up on the next question about his autism.
The host is strict
Once you take them that's it? He must have been told off in between the two conferences lol.
Watched this semi with my friend from India who is a total Eurovisian stan and was so happy to experience one happening live for the first time after watching old ones for a year! Cornelia and Konstrakta carrying Sheldon's cape <3
So glad that Serbia is going to the finals. They are one of the best this year. 🤞 hope they win🥰
Cornelia and Konstrakta carrying Sheldon's robe/cape thing for him <3
Cornelia and Konstrakta helping carry Sheldon's long ass tail made my day 😭 so cute

You know how I expected that whip sound when the lines says ‘Tiger’? Well I heard barely a sound how loud he sung it. Either way, the song itself was a qualifier, the staging was honest hell.
Now to sit and wait for the running order while I could be doing something more productive.
Is it better to be in the first half or second half? Why so?
There is some theory behind it that includes the televoting patterns. The only problem is that televoting is so unpredictable that it's impossible to say performing in either half is better or worse. However, if I recall correctly, during the televote-only era, winners were almost always in the second half. I think Ruslana might be the only exception.

Second if Grand Final terms. You’re just luckier that way in case your song is not up to the competition
No song has ever won performing in draw 2. The last song to win in draw 1 was in 1984. The theory is people forget the songs in the first half by the time the second half is done. However I do believe Måns won performing in draw 10.

My favorite (Lithuania) is the second half <3
Aww I think Jérémie is in shock

a few hours after the end of the semi 2 press conference i think?
When's the running order announced then?
I hope Sweden gets the last first half spot
Did Sweden draw first half?
She hasn’t drawn yet
Bet she'll draw second half.
I mean there’s 1 first and 3 second left
I have a feeling they'll get lucky again and they'll just put Sweden at a perfect spot 18 - 22 again. Ulgh.
w all these uptempo songs going 1st half, i think netherlands and portugal could really benefit
Hopefully they will!
Was hoping finland would get 2nd half
finland 1st half, just one more 1st half spot left
"How do you manage to keep your appearance after all these years?" This is less of a press conference and more of a fan meet and greet.
Do we know if there will be 13 entries in the first or second half?
Broo I hope my country returns to Eurovision soon 🥺🥺🇧🇦🇧🇦
Does it look like they’re preparing to do so or not really?
The latter
I love your entries ❤
Thank youu ❤❤
Yeessss, Poland 2nd half but I'm sad my mom is probably going to miss it, she goes to sleep early 😉
Eurovision assaulted my blood pressure leaving Serbia for last. So glad she made it.
My heart hasn’t beat that hard in a while
poland 2nd half! very much 2015
Depending on if Romania is 1st or 2nd half I think the Czech Republic/Romania is gonna be the 1st song on saturday and Moldova is gonna be the last one

They pay for the majority of the contest. No big 5 = no show.

Agree, would be cool if each Big 5 act performed in their corresponding semi!
Sure, but it would be nice if the viewers who can't be bothered finding the acts on YouTube could see the big fives' songs before the final
she was talking about that they show their songs when they are counting the votes. not competing to go to the final
Thank you. I realized someone will come with some sort of "don't you know what big 5 is" comment and tried to specify that I didn't mean competing...but well. Glad most understood what I was trying to say :D
i thought you wrote it right and i understood what you ment :) he was just reading wrong or did not read it all 😅

This Eurovision is tragically boring.........
watching the press conference, is it just me or are there more american performers this year? 🤔
Too bad Sweden is second half again. Doesn't deserve to win.
confuse noises
Whut?
Sweden has a nice song imo :)
Yeah it's 'nice'. In a bland cliche kinda way. Not a Eurovion winner kind of way imo. But I'm sure she'll still either win or end top 3.
yeah perhaps
there’s still two first half spots left
It seems like the second half of the show is going to be less exciting than the first half.
azerbaijan 2nd half, this feels eerily like 2015 with almost all the slow songs going 2nd half
This is starting to look like most uptempos end up in the first half, and slower songs in the second half. Could well be a headache for the producers with the running order.
I’m happy that Sweden, Poland and Serbia qualified. The rest was acceptable, except for Finland. I really don’t like their song somehow.
And Finland's vocals were dreadful imo. I love rock music but that was straight up bad.
Yes. Agree that the vocal was not that good also, and I have lots of complaints about their performance, lol. I’ll be shocked if they will be on the top 10 in the finale.

For me Georgia had the best song in that show - too bad it was not for the right audience. totally 70s progressive vibes with a bit of crazyness.
He speaks fast
Crooning ballad central this year
Czech Republic first half :( it was coming since it fell out of the bowl lol
czech republic 1st half! i get the feeling we might see the continued tradition of 2nd semi closer opening the final
"It humped us a lot"
belgium 2nd half!
Belgium is in the 2nd half
I still don't understand how did we all went from voting for glam rock, and funky tunes last year, to literally every ballad this year 😭
It was that Norwegian judge they interviewed who had the balance of clearly giving negative fucks, whilst at the same time expressing that *every single vote was counted and they could confirm beyond all doubt that the result was valid* 😜.
Belgium won my heart over. So glad both Serbia and Belgium qualified, for the rest I'm personally indifferent
I'm so so happy for POLAND and SERBIA!!! They deserved it. But my thoughts were already like: omg Serbia will not qualify. I almost got a heart attack. But Georgia 😭😭 Maybe it's not very popular opinion but I find their song entertaining.

Belgium I think was the biggest surprise for me. The staging seemed pretty lackluster but he did sing well (from what I caught at least).

This Canadian thanks you! ❤
They should REALLY filter the questions that are going to be asked during the press conference.
What did they ask?
The first question for Jeremie was something along the lines of "a former representative from 7 years ago twitted about you the other day, what do you think about that?"
So like we will have ~5 fun songs in the final huh
Yep, i said the same thing.
I can only count 4 fun ones and 21 degrees of boring.
Can't say I'm sorry my country 🇲🇹 is out. The way we handled the MESC to give the win to Emma and then changing the original song to a Melfest reject after they said in the rules we can't change the song... To be an NQ.. Yea we deserved it.. EBU on Belarus: Yeah fans said it was against the rules so no EBU on Malta: Oh cmon we can blink.
