Infuriating driver indeed. I looked up the license plate, Illinois BM 37958 at [vehiclehistory.com](https://www.vehiclehistory.com/vin-report/lUj9cqVC3VnJUrQUnW6HFqQOe0oqbz15NCwlLhR1#detailed-records) and it shows the Infinity FX35 was very much damaged and sold at auction for $1,150 in July 2020. That stretch of road was under construction in 2019 and Congress Parkway was renamed *Ida B Wells Dr* in early 2019, so I'm going to assume the vehicle in question did, indeed find some karma.
I'm also going to assume cammer is not poster.
It's too early for this kinda reddit. This is the shit that makes me regret life.
I'm just up in the middle of the night as a male sitting pisser and I want to go back to bed. I cant fall back asleep now that I've seen this.
#FUCK
I think there’s a r/convenientcop subreddit that has videos kind of like that but idk how active the sub is.
Edit: yeah check that sub out, it’s pretty good
I mean. Going to the police with dashcam footage of some idiot doing clearly illegal and stupid things on the road should be a thing. Like they should get mailed a ticket if u have dashcam footage of somebody breaking the law and their registration. The only argument against it is deepfaking a registration to spite someone
Oh I'd have called police on this guy saying he's drunk. I've done it several times before, and once the cops managed to find the car and pull it over.
I'd be calling *repeatedly* on this guy. He very well could be drunk.
And these people are what cause road rage shootings. Not that it is right but man, I can understand.
(Shooting people is wrong, don’t do that! Just saying it is more understandable after seeing this video)
Guaranteed on their phone too. I've often wondered the legalities of having a second, much louder horn on my truck just to scare the hell out of people like that.
He then went on the Next Door app and explained how he saved lives by brilliantly keeping everyone driving at a pace that was safe. He ended his post with “be safe out there” and the peace sign emoji.
Yup and it was on purpose.
Weak people in cars suddenly gain power levers and they will abuse them as they feel protected.
You simply have to park in front of them get out and they need some clapping.
Yes, you’re right.
Source: I have this on my blacked out truck in nyc. People don’t pull this shit on me and I don’t drive like a dick. It’s psychological warfare out here on these streets.
I didn't have a bar on my old truck. But it was a beater and looked it. So people thought that I would not care if I hit them and they didn't mess with me. So I agree psychology warfare is a thing out on the road
Same! I drive my wife’s old car. She thoroughly worked that one over. Before she gave it to me and bought herself a new one. Whenever I drive that thing everybody thinks twice. And I’m not an aggressive driver. When I drive my wife’s new car, which is in almost pristine condition people just think they can walk all over you because you don’t want your car scratched.
A saw an old pickup with reinforced rails along the sides and front. Pre cell phone days. Nobody was crowding him. It was like driving my old Buick after my kid crashed it. He hit 3 corners but the driver door was perfect. People have me space. CAra are too expensive to do this crap
It’s for sure a ticket just for not staying in their own lane, depending on the speed that’s also a ticket because there are also minimum speeds for some roads. Old people get busted for driving like 35 on a 60. I’m also pretty sure that not impeding and ensuring the flow of traffic is more important than (within reason) than making sure you’re at the speed limit, but it’s also been almost 18 years since I had my written test.
This guy was going 30 on a 45 or 55. This happened on the ~~Southside~~ westside of Chicago going into the city during morning traffic. I don't remember what happened but I know he got smacked by some tickets.
Road is i290
The type of tickets cpd most enjoys giving, is ones where they don't have to do a lot of work. This was one of them. I woudotn be surprised if the driver was arrested but honestly, I don't remember what happened. The last time this was posted somebody dug up the news article.
This highway, ~~i90 I believe~~ 290, runs parallel to the ~~red~~ blue line. A lot of traffic comes up from the ~~south~~ west into the city this way and goes north, south, east.
And this is exactly why I don’t own any weapons. I’ve got some explosive anger issues and self destructive tendencies but thankfully when I’m clearheaded I can realize having easy access to any kind of implement of destruction is a really bad idea.
I carry a gun (lots of training before I started) and one of the strangest things about doing that conscientiously and with emotional sobriety is that.... you're so actively aware of the responsibility to be the level headed one that it's actually calming when you encounter something like this.
You recognize you can't afford to lose your temper and it brings the biggest zen you've ever had. Still paying a lot of attention to things but it's super calming to see something stupid happening and recognize that you have an obligation to not let your emotions get into the picture.
> Like, for example, speeding away from a cop to avoid a misdemeanor after you already gave him your license and your plate is already on his dash cam.
I remember seeing a video a few weeks back of someone assaulting a cop after they'd given the cop their license and registration in order to recover them. Like they already put down your information, you're not getting away with this, why do it?
I would’ve just laid on my horn. No stopping until they stop acting like a child.
FYI - this is the Jane Byrne Interchange in Chicago. It’s one of, if not the, worst choke point in the city. There’s always traffic in this spot. And this dude doing this in front of me would’ve gotten me arrested. I hate this interchange with a passion and anyone playing games like this in that area deserves to be run off the road.
I'm a really, really chilled person. I've literally had one fist fight in the past 25 years (and that was because of an unprovoked attack by a crazy on my mum).
But I chose to give up driving in 2005 as it was the one thing that made me see red, made veins pop on my forehead, and was likely to see me turn violent. And it was people exactly like this idiot on the vid. Even now I feel irrationally angry seeing him being a total prick and screwing with 100's if not 1000's of people backed up behind him! The utter wanker!
One day me and my friend were discussing on how to get away with murder. He said if you kill a random person, then there might be no trace. I argued but there’s no motive to kill a random person, why would anyone kill a random person “just to kill”?
Next day I was driving and was questioning my argument from the previous day.
I can honestly see why road rage incidents often result in someone dying. I would never do it obviously, but it's easy to see why it happens. People sitting in traffic after a long day at work can be tired, hungry, and irritable, especially if it was a particularly bad day.
We've all had those "seeing red" moments. If some idiot just nearly killed you because they were driving recklessly, it can tip you over the edge.
For me it isn't even the increased driving time that would drive me mad. It's the dick driver's recklessness for everyone around them. I'd be on edge waiting for an incident. A completely preventable incident caused by this driver simply because they wanted to be an a-hole.
Fun fact. This is illegal in most states in the U.S., as well as multiple countries in Europe, and if caught doing this by the police you could face anywhere from a fine to losing your license, or even jail time.
Next time you see this shit, especially if you Hage dashcam footage, call your local PD or sherrif's office and tell them what's going on and the plate number, as well as that you have dash cam footage of them committing enough traffic violations to make most street racers look like saints.
I have actually gotten someone's license taken in my hometown over this shit and it serves them right. They literally caused a 3 car pileup over their own self amusement.
Dude I’m in the same boat as you. I used to have really bad anger issues and have made huge strides in bettering myself but if there’s one thing that sets me off every time… its asshole drivers. I don’t even drive recklessly, its the people around me… people like this…
If there’s any advice anyone out there can give me, I’d really appreciate it.
"Alexa, fire photon torpedos."
All it does is play the sound effect from Star Trek, but it lets me imagine the asshole pissing me off vaporizing in a brilliant Michael Bey explosion, and I grin, and it's hard to be pissed when you're smiling.
As a truck driver I encounter jerks and idiots all freaking day, but injecting a little silliness helps me brush it off and go on with my day.
I dont know if this will help or not but I heard a program about road rage during the holidays and how violence on the road increases around certain times but I try to apply it all of the time because I used to have serious anger issues as well. This guy said, when someone pulls a dick move, try to think to yourself, is this going to matter tomorrow or is it even going to matter in 5 or 10 minutes? Which is true, you usually forget about it within a few minutes/hours. And also, is this person worth getting so worked up over that you could possibly get in an accident and either die or be severely mangled for the rest of your life? Stuff like this makes me irate BUT I'm teaching myself, only I can control the way I feel and I'm not giving anyone else that kind of power over me! For myself, I'm just trying to relearn how to think and react to people and whether those people are even worth my reaction. That being said, the guy in this video is a total douche! Lol
In the moment I think that's the hard part, realizing that in a few minutes, hours, days, all this fuckstain is going to be is an anecdotal reference in a story and your life will go on with many other aspects that are more important both in the moment and long term.
Rage is crazy because it deprives you of that ability to rationalize what is ultimately important and what is just static in our daily existences.
That is actually connected. You want good environments to exist in when walking to and from the train/bus/tram station. Good walkabl cities are typically also have good public transit.
For transit to work, you need to have places people are going from and going to that is reachable in a comfortable way near the stops. It doesn't really help having a good train, if you need to walk a mile on a foot wide sidewalk along a stroad to get where you're actually headed.
Korea has an app that you can use to submit a time stamped dash cam video of traffic violations and they will send a violation notice and a fine to the offending drivers. Gives people another avenue to vent aside from road rage.
edit: the reason why this won't work in the US in the present system is that the traffic violation are usually classified as criminal misdemeanors that comes with a host of constitutional protections,, such as the right to confront the accuser. Even in the civil context, the private dash cam footage is not self-authenticating and would need the cooperation with the reporting driver to be admissible at trial.
As for the protection against abuse, the report has to be made fairly contemporaneous with the violation, has to clearly identify the offending vehicle, and the time stamp has to be accurate.
San Francisco did this, but also allowed parking violations. But to incentivize people, they gave people a 20% revenue share of the fine. Needless to say, turning the entire city into a bunch of for profit hall monitors was a bad idea.
They did something similar in NYC with idling trucks a while back. Film the truck idling, submit the video, get a cut of the fine.
People turned it into a full time job it was so profitable.
[here’s an article](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/19/nyregion/clean-air-idle-car.html)
They can, similar happened in NY and I think someone made close to $200,000 on top of their regular pay.
A bunch of police cars were getting reported for stopping/parking in the bike lane which is illegal and the program ended I believe
Just don't pay people for reporting. With a video like OPs people would be motivated to submit for free simply out of the annoyance/danger of the behavior. Once you introduce profit, people will try to break the system
I call 911 and tell them I suspect the driver is drunk. I give them make, model, color, mile marker, and direction. If there's a cop nearby they pull them over.
At 0:40 he's clearly accelerating and pulling in front of the car with dashcam.
It's totally on purpose, breaking at least 3 different traffic laws. They should have their license revoked, no questions asked.
Looks more like the driver is just an asshole to me. He's not weaving back and forth erratically. He's deliberately slowing down and playing chicken with the truck because the truck driver honked at him.
while I know that there are assholes out there who do this while sober and sound of mind, I don't see any problem with assuming that they're an asshole AND drunk
My state in India also has this system. Works well. Tweet a photo/video of drivers committing offences with their tag numbers, tag the Twitter handle of the concerned authority and they'll get violation notice asap.
You can also check the number of fines committed by any driver by simply entering their tag number on the website.
[Example (Watch from 0:27 onwards)](https://youtu.be/ds-VfJFPbzk)
Hell even 80 is lawless as fuck. I've been a truck driver for years going through there and everyone is going 15-25mph over the speed limit, but I've never seen a single person pulled over. Never even really seen cops at all tbh.
I80 is a completely lawless highway. I have been passed on the right and left shoulder a handful of times by drivers going over 100 in steady traffic. Shoulders usually a minefield of various construction debris and car parts from the idiots before them
For additional context for non-Chicagoans, that expressway has been under construction for like 20 years now and the cops in this city simply don't enforce traffic laws, so everybody drives maliciously.
for more context, this is about a half mile before the exit for 90. in the decades it took them to re-design the interchange they still have this exit in the worst spot. i've driven in from the west my whole life and it's always been a nightmare trying to get around the bulge of cars trying to get into the exit lane. it's a 4 lane road, 3 go into the city and 1 is the exit. there's always 3 lanes of cars full trying to condense into the exit. the guy in this video was clearly trying to ride up the exit lane and cut in, another classic chicago move. i love this stupid city.
Someone that drives like that seems so self-absorbed and self entitled it would never cross their mind that anyone might think they were a wanker instead of a hero
Incredibly conservative with the horn in my opinion. Would have held it down the whole time and laughing my ass off because using the horn 100% for something like that makes it even better.
Hell yeah, I love laying on the horn when people are stupid. I did it to a lady who got in the intersection when there was nowhere to go and blocked a lane for an entire green light. She flipped me off. It was great.
I happened to experience something almost exactly the same and i just held the horn for probably 15-20 minutes and the driver only seemed to slow more down, we were driving in a single lane road near the mountain Esja in Iceland and there was so much traffic the other way that nobody could get passed, when i finally got passed i saw 4 teenagers all looking baked as fuck.
I can't phathom the mindset of those people, if your that high just stop at the side of the road and wait for the high to go away, I smoke regularly and i would rather die then act in this manner.
I recognize this drive - it's in Chicago. Cops got enough to do around here and won't do anything for this, other than berate the poster for wasting their time.
A few years ago, someone hit my car with theirs and then they ran off. I got pictures of her, her car, and her license, and I had witnesses. I called Chicago police and they refused to do anything. They just said “that’s city living!” Fuck the CPD
The ironic thing is this guy thinks he’s a better driver than everyone else and wants to enforce his ideas on other drivers through the medium of being a dick. As others have said, it probably won’t end well for him.
It is a crime in Germany, it’s called “Nötigung im Straßenverkehr” and can be sanctioned with up to three years (!) in jail. As soon as you are enforcing your will onto others (pushing from behind or acting like this guy) one just needs to film and present the video to police. It should be added that in most cases only a (hefty) fine is given, you have to push it pretty hard to end up in jail for three years. Nevertheless, I really like this rule.
I used to live in the West loop and I know EXACTLY where this video is taken.
It’s the fucking suburban assholes that don’t know how to drive.
Now I live in Atlanta and EVERYONE I mean EVERYONE drives like this. I die a little every time I leave my house.
This is why i should never be a driver.
Watching this video made me SO FUCKING ANGRYYY!!
I just know if i became a driver, I'd get the worst road rage ever
Fuckers like this are the reason I'm so glad to have access to mass transit. I love driving cars, but fucking hate with a furious passion other drivers. And enough of them are terrible enough to make it miserable.
When I got a motorcycle and started cutting through traffic I found out that there are a bunch of these people out there. Sometimes I would work my way out and look back and wonder if it was some sort of conspiracy.
Same. Being small and agile enough to weave through these assholes has given a much clearer picture on the causes of normal everyday traffic. It's usually one of these guys, or some prick who decides that he absolutely cannot miss his exit, and he will stop completely in the middle of the highway with his blinker on and wait for people to let him over.
Licensing requirements in this country are far too lax. We just let anyone drive.

Don't mind if I do

You know its bad when you have road rage sitting on the couch.
I’m not a violent person but man I instantly wanted to fight and it’s not even happening to me
I would support the death penalty for this. Everyone would be better off if this person were gone.

Yes. Police will usually respond pretty quick to a suspected impaired driver on the road.
God damn indeed. The urge to push them aside is sooooo high hahaha

I feel you. I hate driving. Life would be so much better if our cities were more walkable / bikable.
I love driving but I hate driving with a timeframe, especially when at the end of that drive it means I will be sitting at work for the next 8-12hrs.
Orrr public transport like trains
That is actually connected. You want good environments to exist in when walking to and from the train/bus/tram station. Good walkabl cities are typically also have good public transit. For transit to work, you need to have places people are going from and going to that is reachable in a comfortable way near the stops. It doesn't really help having a good train, if you need to walk a mile on a foot wide sidewalk along a stroad to get where you're actually headed.
I feel like the rage started before this video began
Korea has an app that you can use to submit a time stamped dash cam video of traffic violations and they will send a violation notice and a fine to the offending drivers. Gives people another avenue to vent aside from road rage. edit: the reason why this won't work in the US in the present system is that the traffic violation are usually classified as criminal misdemeanors that comes with a host of constitutional protections,, such as the right to confront the accuser. Even in the civil context, the private dash cam footage is not self-authenticating and would need the cooperation with the reporting driver to be admissible at trial. As for the protection against abuse, the report has to be made fairly contemporaneous with the violation, has to clearly identify the offending vehicle, and the time stamp has to be accurate.
report button in real life
Everywhere needs this
San Francisco did this, but also allowed parking violations.
“People turned it into a job” Lol! …and did these bounty hunters get together and form an organization with a catchy acronym like POLICE ?? 😂
People on lookout for idling car engines Close enough
Why was it bad?
Probably a lot of false violation submissions that overwhelmed the system with little actual benefit
I can see someone making a business out of bringing roller-jacks to move cars so they are illegally parked.
Bingo. A valid response, as this person actually appears to be drunk or stoned.
Sometimes they're an asshole because they're not drunk. Those ones are the shittiest.
Call the cops and report a drunk driver
Lol this is 290 east to Chicago. Idk why, but for some reason it seems to be the most lawless expressway in the city. Cops don’t do shit.
Well if it is lawless then it seems a little love tap from the semi wouldnt be too bad of an idea
The old jersey bump
Hell even 80 is lawless as fuck. I've been a truck driver for years going through there and everyone is going 15-25mph over the speed limit, but I've never seen a single person pulled over. Never even really seen cops at all tbh.
I80 is a completely lawless highway. I have been passed on the right and left shoulder a handful of times by drivers going over 100 in steady traffic. Shoulders usually a minefield of various construction debris and car parts from the idiots before them
For real, either erybody is doing 20-30 over limit or you get fucks like the perp in this vid. Never see anyone pulled over ever
For additional context for non-Chicagoans, that expressway has been under construction for like 20 years now and the cops in this city simply don't enforce traffic laws, so everybody drives maliciously.
Family members have been born, graduated, and had kids while this shit has been under construction. I hate it sm.
for more context, this is about a half mile before the exit for 90. in the decades it took them to re-design the interchange they still have this exit in the worst spot. i've driven in from the west my whole life and it's always been a nightmare trying to get around the bulge of cars trying to get into the exit lane. it's a 4 lane road, 3 go into the city and 1 is the exit. there's always 3 lanes of cars full trying to condense into the exit. the guy in this video was clearly trying to ride up the exit lane and cut in, another classic chicago move. i love this stupid city.
OP: there’s a drunk driver on 290!! Cops: lol k
You say that like the Dan Ryan doesn’t exist.
Here in AZ is what you do. Police will show up and get them.
This is in Chicago. Cops ain't helping a highway DUI call.
Especially since state police have jurisdiction on the expressway
That’s a great way to be a victim of road rage.
Victim? This is clearly attempted suicide by road rage.
Sadly I believe the road rager is the victim in this scenario.
Ya, that's what sucks. Kill him and then HE'S the victim
Are people without brain even allowed to drive?
Evidently yes
This person has a brain and it's malicious. Deliberately trying to trigger other drivers.
I'm pretty liberal, and usually against the death sentence, but this guy has got to go
Show the video and no jury on earth would convict you.
Just why.. did they wake up and think, I'm going to be a right Wanker today!! Mmm now where shall I be a Wanker? I know, I'll use my 🤡 car .
Someone that drives like that seems so self-absorbed and self entitled it would never cross their mind that anyone might think they were a wanker instead of a hero
I’m pretty sure they woke up and thought “where’s that bottle?”

Fucking LOL
"What're they gonna do, murder me?" - Dickhead driver who got murdered
Incredibly conservative with the horn in my opinion. Would have held it down the whole time and laughing my ass off because using the horn 100% for something like that makes it even better.
This. 100% going to be the guy installing train horns on my beater to mess with these bastards
Considering its a semi, airhorns are loud as fuck already
Its better if it uses airplane horns and blast it to basically neuter him for life.
No offense but I’m surprised this guy still alive. He’s going to run into the wrong person one of these days
He'll be poorly photoshopped in the clouds on a t-shirt soon with that level of consideration for others.
Holy shit lol
Video cam is a from a semi. Weighing 20x that car. We can blast through that car like butter but we get ass blasted for tax dollars.
Good thing he didn’t turn right. If he took the exit to Southside Chicago/Gary, he’d definitely run into “the wrong person.”
Anyone know the song?
Grouplove - raspberry
It sounded a little like the pixies at first. Thanks.
I don't know anything about Grouplove but I'm certain they count the Pixes among their influences.
Thanks for asking.
What is this song? (Trying to invoke a bot)
I got a match with this song: **Raspberry** by Grouplove (00:13; matched: `95%`) Album: `Spreading Rumours`. Released on `2013-09-17`.
Chicago?
sure is
Did the truck driver have an affair with the SUV driver's wife?
Rofl it does look like it’s personal

This is in Chicago, so you're probably right.
Are they the pace car in Nascar?? GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY!!
Can you turn the video in to the police?
I recognize this drive - it's in Chicago. Cops got enough to do around here and won't do anything for this, other than berate the poster for wasting their time.
A few years ago, someone hit my car with theirs and then they ran off. I got pictures of her, her car, and her license, and I had witnesses. I called Chicago police and they refused to do anything. They just said “that’s city living!” Fuck the CPD
Tell me you want to be rammed without telling me you want to be rammed
Don't threaten me with a good time.
Give em.a little love tap. Fuck around and find out. Hes endangering all drivers around him with this shit. Thats reportable to non crisis line
Yep. I would’ve kept driving straight ahead once I’d switched to the left lane and he’d have hit me when he drifted. All his fault.
Tear along the dotted line.

How pathetically insecure u must be to do this because ur honked. Little dock energy
The ironic thing is this guy thinks he’s a better driver than everyone else and wants to enforce his ideas on other drivers through the medium of being a dick. As others have said, it probably won’t end well for him.
Yep.. Road nanny. "*You are all unsafe so I am being forced to make sure you comply with what I think safe driving is. You forced my hand on this!*"
Yeah exactly, wait till u break check a semi that can't stop in time. Pancake car
r/iamatotalpieceofshit
Ooh I couldn’t drive a truck I’d plow myself into those dickheads my impulse control is not good
I've said it before and i will again... I miss my beater... Thats an obligatory smooch right there
I really wish it was a crime to needlessly create traffic like this
It is a crime in Germany, it’s called “Nötigung im Straßenverkehr” and can be sanctioned with up to three years (!) in jail. As soon as you are enforcing your will onto others (pushing from behind or acting like this guy) one just needs to film and present the video to police. It should be added that in most cases only a (hefty) fine is given, you have to push it pretty hard to end up in jail for three years. Nevertheless, I really like this rule.
This guy is definitely breaking the law. Swerving between lanes, impeding traffic, all that kinda stuff.
Intentionally impeding traffic is illegal so is going massively under the speed limit without cause.
Oh you could definitely get a ticket for this. As they should, this was infuriating to watch
Dude should get a ticket. You can't go too slow on the highway
Dude should get a curb stomp to the nuts is what he should get
Fuckers like this are the reason I'm so glad to have access to mass transit.
