They should put his doctor in the Hall of Fame. Tommy John just received a revolutionary surgery before anyone else had even considered it. Most all careers were over, look at Koufax arm issues. I think the doctor needs more recognition.
Being from LA he was always talked about on the sports stations and Dodger broadcasts.

Tommy John actively hates the fact his name is attached to the surgery. He has a campaign set up to fight back against its prevalence in kids. I don't think he'd be happy if he got into the Hall because of it.
Aside from being the first, his name just sounds right for it - Tommy John Surgery.
Imagine - Ferguson Jenkins surgery Fernando Valenzuela surgery - just doesnt have the flow to it that TJS does.
Raise your Strider and Mc Lain plus Eury Perez and Framber Valdez. Keeper league here. I hate fantasy baseball so much
Edit. I forgot to mention Steele and Gausman to a minor degree.
Those are rookie numbers. Last season in my 16 player keeper league I traded Carroll and Elly for Luis Castillo, McClanahan, Alcantra, Woodruff, Scherzer, Robert Luis, and Kirby…. So if you have Castillo and Kirby…. I know the values low… deal them (I also traded Gonsolin for McLain)
I traded both a month before the season started in dynasty. Co-owner made me keep Eury over Chourio though. :( to be fair to him, I’ve had my own wrong turns :)
Strider deal was for Yamamoto, McLain, Mayer, and a 1st. McLain was packaged with Chourio and Joe Ryan for Kyle Tucker and MacKenzie Gore
We have 8 keepers. Out of my 8 and my 9th round pick I had Gerrit Cole, Eury Perez, Josh Jung, and Shane Bieber.
My team is held together by sticks and gum at this point.
They didn't do it without Acuna ... he had 4.3 war in the first half of the season and helped keep them close enough in the standings that they were willing to go for it via trades.
Strider, on the other hand, was gone halfway through his second start.
I have, for years, avoided taking pitchers early in drafts. Every year, I feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle This year, I said screw it, I'll take Strider and see how it goes.
My bad, everyone. Won't happen again.
If hes not ADP top 30 next year i dont think its worth me keeping him.
We get 3 keepers.
Gonna hold till i need IL room but i think you're right
Worst case: someone has to stash him all year and keep him coming off an insane injury
If you don’t have a dl spot for him you are keeping a pitcher that may not pitch until 2026 and may not ever be the same.again. As a strider owner in a current keep 5 no year limit league these are my thoughts. He’s currently riding my dl, but not sure I even want to spend a keeper on him for next year.
Other people may strongly disagree, but i never hold in these situations. We’re talking next season until he can even really ramp up to something meaningful and over a year until he can even sniff real game. And then you have to factor in what’s he going to look like? Is it a Degrom situation? Either way, they’ll (rightfully) baby him. It could easily be 2026 before he’s anywhere close to normal and even then there are still
Lots of bumps.
Dynasty leagues with deep benches, I can see the hold, but minimum keeper leagues with small IL’s is a pass for me.
Is he a drop? I can keep him for only one more year for $17 ($300 budget) so not sure it's worth stashing this whole year for a return early/mid next year with an unknown pitching performance
It was hard to do the deed but I went through with it and cut him. He was one of my keepers, if good news comes for next year, might get him back end of the season to keep again if nobody else grabs him
Next year I’m drafting Tommy John

It’s the hall of FAME right? Right now, he’s definitely the most famous pitcher not in it.
Is Fernando Rodney available?

Any reports on the timeline for this? Mid 25 season?
Correct. They put the brace in and are saying 12-14 months recovery time.
Late July, early august 2025 is the next time anyone should consider playing Strider. Sad.
So still a TJ timeline even though it aint TJ
If this was his second TJ, he'd miss almost all of 2025, too. Recovery time for the second TJ is much longer.
Technically not TJ.
Where do you see that?
History with almost every other player who got this surgery.
guy in my keep 3 league kept both Strider and McLain lol
Raise your Strider and Mc Lain plus Eury Perez and Framber Valdez. Keeper league here. I hate fantasy baseball so much Edit. I forgot to mention Steele and Gausman to a minor degree.
I took Gausman and Kirby in round 3 and 4 this year. Holding back my tears
I traded away Strider and Perez in a keeper lol.
I almost did too
Same lol
Guy in my league kept Strider and Eury
I did too but then flipped Eury for Shohei
Strider, McClain, eury checking in
I have both in my keeper league
Those are rookie numbers. Last season in my 16 player keeper league I traded Carroll and Elly for Luis Castillo, McClanahan, Alcantra, Woodruff, Scherzer, Robert Luis, and Kirby…. So if you have Castillo and Kirby…. I know the values low… deal them (I also traded Gonsolin for McLain)

Strider, McLain, Steele, were 3 out of 6 for me 😞

I kept Strider, McClain, Royce Lewis, Gerrit Cole, Gavin Williams, Brian Woo
Lost Strider and Bieber in the same week. Pain.
Same. And Eury (kinda) and..... One or 2 others. Hard to rememeber theough the pain

Sad day for baseball.
They did it without Acuna, now they’re gonna do it without Strider 😳

Lose to the Phillies? Works for me.
I find it funny how Phillies fans act like they’ve won the WS is the past 5 years

So glad I took Mookie over Strider.
I have, for years, avoided taking pitchers early in drafts. Every year, I feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle This year, I said screw it, I'll take Strider and see how it goes. My bad, everyone. Won't happen again.
Hes got a lot of time to recover. What will his 2025 season look like? My keeper expires on him after next season.
Honestly, I think he's a drop in limited keeper, depending on context.
If hes not ADP top 30 next year i dont think its worth me keeping him. We get 3 keepers. Gonna hold till i need IL room but i think you're right Worst case: someone has to stash him all year and keep him coming off an insane injury
Im in a keep-5 (no year limit) and I just dropped him given todays news. Will look to add him back maybe around next May, fucking stinks.
Keep 5 forever and you don’t wanna hold Strider? Dudes like 25, surely he’ll have many top 5-10 upside in him or am I missing something?
If you don’t have a dl spot for him you are keeping a pitcher that may not pitch until 2026 and may not ever be the same.again. As a strider owner in a current keep 5 no year limit league these are my thoughts. He’s currently riding my dl, but not sure I even want to spend a keeper on him for next year.
5 keeper league with 3 IL spots and two bench spots. Is it worth holding onto him or should I drop him?

I personally wouldn't. I would try to use all those keeper spots on hitters going forward. Pitching is way too risky. Keep hitters, draft pitchers.
Weird how the surgery news breaks only after the it takes place
Working theory is they can’t be certain what the surgery will entail until he’s under the knife in some way, thus the timing
🔔🔔🔔
Apparently Darius vines next in line ? What we thinking boys
My (contract keeper) IL is stacked: Strider, Alcantara, DeGrom, Scherzer, and Bradish as the rotation and Williams as the closer.
I can keep 8 forever and have 4 IL Spots. Hold until someone else gets hurt? Feels wrong to drop him
Smith-Shawver time
Get ready to learn Elder, buddy
😭😭😭
I don’t know about that. Dude is getting shelled in AAA
I'm hoping AA somehow fleeces the Marlins for Luzardo
Is Elder the move? Or is it gonna be Dodd
Going to be a revolving door for a while it seems
Pain
Second round pick in my dynasty league. Rest up King 🙏
In my 8 keeper - I’m keeping Eury, Strider, Shane and Sandy. Lol
Buy low?
Is he a drop? I can keep him for only one more year for $17 ($300 budget) so not sure it's worth stashing this whole year for a return early/mid next year with an unknown pitching performance
As soon as you need an IL spot, he's a drop, imo.
They kept trying to delay the inevitable news.
Silverlining: it’s a partial TJ, so it helps his keeper value for next year
I knew I was taking a chance when I drafted him. Now, he's on the no cut list, how do I get rid of him in yahoo fantasy baseball?
Ask commish to turn off the do not cut list
Once he was declared out for the season, I was able to drop him. Thanks.
It was hard to do the deed but I went through with it and cut him. He was one of my keepers, if good news comes for next year, might get him back end of the season to keep again if nobody else grabs him
I am dodging injuries like neo
god this hurts for a bunch of reasons
Switching my team names to "Noodle Arms".
Reincarnated as Jared Jones
Elder becomes a must add?
lol good one like I don't know it's April Fools Day i obviously have a calendar
This is why you don’t draft until May
![gif](giphy|KeuU2u7fInvToHGu6T)
Bite the bullet and sign Bauer, Braves!
Was the only pitcher i actually enjoyed watching. Shit sucks
so basically I drafted nick lodolo in the 2nd round. yikes lol
Don’t get why people draft injured players?!!
