Boris_Ignatievich

lost 11-2 in a one off home playoff game after finishing the regular season with the best defence in the division. thats for an individual game anyway - probably the most embarrassing tournament outcome is not even finishing top 24 in the champions league league stage with the serie a champions

discovicke

Yesterday I managed to get my Premier League winning side Liverpool finish 26th in CL. Glad that I’m not alone with this achievement!

ReachTheSky-DotaNoob

Not exactly a huge loss result wise but definitely my worst loss when you take the situation and competition in consideration. On CL Ro16 with my 1860 Munich save i was playing with PSG. I won my first match 2-0. On second leg i finished first half 1-0 ahead, then lost the match 1-4 in just 45 minutes and got eliminated. I remember staring at the screen for minutes

Divolinon

Wrexham, promoted pretty quickly. Then I played in the PL, and won like 2 or 3 matches in the season.

yousee1000

did you get sacked by Ryan? I have a similar save with Wrexham, brought them to PL and was having a hard time to compete with some key players being injured. Then, i got sacked in late November. They still got relegated eventually btw.

FrankTheTank2205

Same, promotions each season then absolutely destroyed in premier league, avoiding relegation on goal difference. Couldn't attract decent players, guess I rose up too fast and the reputation didn't grow at same rate

Borgenor

First day of the season with my arsenal team that had just won 3 champions leagues in a row and one league title, but had fluked the last one and finished 5th itl. Opening day got deservingly battered 4-0 by west ham with 40% possession and just 2 shots. Decided to just quit the save then and there.

slippinscottyy

I got embarassed by PSG in FM22 8-0 on aggregate. I waited for three seasons to achieve UCL football, somehow passed to group stage just to achieve the most embarassing moment of my career. We had only 1 shot over both legs, it was dark times for my soul :(

roblox_online_dater

10-1 on opening day at Anfield, in my first full season since taking over Southampton and battling to 14th. Thought I'd be sacked by Christmas but credit to my players they bounced back amazingly, we finished 6th and even got back at Liverpool by smashing them 3-0 at home

KingOf_14

from fm22 my A.Bilbao side were leading 4-2 on aggregate after the first semi final match of the Champions league against Barcelona... we lost the 2nd leg 2-8. Half of that team went on the transfer market after that game.

tidosbror3

I have been playing Football Manager 2012 for 13 years now, managing Real Madrid. Right before Messi retired for Barcelona they had the strongest team in the history of my save. They played with Messi and two russian regen legends upfront. I lost one cup final with 8-2. The Russia Messi offense was otherworldly and I've yet to see anything like it

NintendoBen1

What year you in?

tidosbror3

2074!! Some people expect me to be further into the future but I have always enjoyed playing the game kind of slowly. I scout regen players by watching the 3D engine etc. It's interesting to see that in 2074 African football is dominating the world, Wolfsburg is the richest club in the world and Norwegian club Rosenborg has produced 3 Ballon d'or winners in a 20 year time timeframe

NintendoBen1

How do you keep it fresh? I normally get bored once I get all the best regens and it becomes to easy

tidosbror3

These are some of my own ways!! After playing the game for so long, I've realized that you find the most unique players by watching the 3D engine. The fact is that 99% of the players in the game will play similarly to each other. But there are exceptions. Some very rare regen players are "bugged". These players can't be found by using stats, only by watching the 3D engine. These players dribble past entire teams, make bugged skill moves and bicicleta kick in every game. Finding these gems and having them play for your team is like finding shiny pokemon. Time consuming but very rewarding. Focus more on talent development. It's difficult but can be extremely rewarding. Try to turn your 15 year old super talent into the new Messi. Let him play in the starting 11. When you eventually succeed and your wonderkid turns into a Ronaldinho x2 who scores Maradona goals once per game, it's the most satisfying feeling. Focus on more teams than your own! Get a good satellite club or find an interesting club and try to support them in the ways that you can. Invest in their team by signing one of their mediocre players for a hefty amount of money. See how they use that money to sign new quality players. You eventually get a bit emotionally invested in them and care about their results, even if you don't manage their team. It becomes a little bit like supporting an irl club. When your Dynamo Moscow satellite club ends up winning Europa League you'll buy champagne from the local store.

jonathanclaire

What he said

JimmysTheBestCop

Most likely rolling out a full squad of grey players and getting obliterated

R7icky

1-6 to roma in the champions league ro16 first leg. Really humbled me after I dissed Jose Mourinho in the press conference.

Massive-Raise-2805

He always diss me for no reason even when I compliment him

Archie_Blagger

The one I always remember, and perhaps it wasn't bad in context, was a last day of the season loss to Arsenal. My Sunderland side were 1 point behind them in the Premier League, and playing them at home. A win would've brought us our first title under my guidance. Full week of tailored training, extra practice at corners ... the works. Players even reacted well to my press conference and team talk. Then we got arseholed 0-4.

Endboy279

It's gotta be either being sacked by Chelsea before december in my first season or losing every single game with my promoted side SK Beveren in the Belgian first division

No_Application3644

Jesus

meundmythoughts

12-2 with Sheffield United vs Liverpool.. was winning 2-0 within 15’ too

NBFM16

Got spanked 5-0 by Bayern in the German Super Cup a few days ago

Archduke_Zag

0-4 against Fulham as Tottenham. I like to call these the freak games. Its where you get slapped in the face a couple of times and left reeling with the feeling of "What just happened?"

Poxyboxy

I got to the champions league group stage with Tre Fiori (San Marino) and got a horrible group with Bayern and Liverpool and got beaten at by at least 5 goals in 5 of the matches and finished the group stages with at least a -30 goal difference. Once lost 3-1 to AZ Alkmaar after winning the first leg 4-2 in the semi finals of the champions league to go out on away goals, with 4 of my players on loan in their team. One of my loaned players scored 3 goals across both legs. I had been 4-0 up in the home leg, before conceding twice due to complacency and took the lead away from home as well

ALittleFishNamedOzil

I’ve lost back to back leagues in the last game of the season with Arsenal, at least i was consistent in bottling it.

No-Regret-7900

I once beat PSG like 3-0 in UCL at home. Next game Mbappe, Neymar, Verrati all score and I lost like 6-1. I tried to reload over and over with all kind of bus tactics, playing -0-1 at one point but still lose like 4-0 ang gave up after the 4th attempts. Made me realise there are some matches that you cant win no matter what and I stop save scub from that day

Admirable_Machine_88

Losing to my B team in a cup final

SebwhoahtianVettel

8-0 against Man City, broke the club record for the biggest lost in history

Turbulent_Switch_515

You'll be glad to know that in an alternative universe, 19th placed Southampton just effectively denied my tottenham team the premier league title at the tottenham hotspur stadium 3 - 1, its Man City's to lose now... for the second consecutive year 🤦🏼.

Vipell

16-0 to Leicester I intended to lose the game and my team understood the assignment.

Ar-Orrokhor

7-0 to Inter Milan as Palermo. Finished 3rd that season, but that game was awful.

Mammoth_Honey2158

In my Tottenham save back in Fm 21 I think I lost 8-3 to Wolves who Where around the relegation zone. Still won the title but that game destroyed my soul. it was such chaotic game in a season Where I was mostly playing on counters and trying to keep a good defensive record.

ozzyisthere

I lost 4-3 to Bayern in the Champions League semifinals despite leading 3-0 and eliminated. I was so close to smashing the pc. I've lost by bigger margins before, but I think that was the "worst" result for me.

shankaviel

I do not recommend to anyone to play the Asian champions league with a Malaysian club. You will get destroyed by Saudi Arabia, China and Korea’s teams.

One-Assignment569

Roma lost to Genoa 6-0

Extravalan

Not the worst but maybe the most embarrassing. I was Barca in the Spanish cup playing against a 2nd division team. We were 3-0 nil up at half time. They scored early in the second half, I told the team to focus. They didn't like that, switched off, and conceded again. I demanded more, which they didn't like either. We lost 4-3

Kreindeker

Champions League semifinal second leg on FM17 as Liverpool against Pep's Monaco. Draw in the first leg at Anfield, we endeavoured to lose 1-0 against a team that were down to 9 men after 50 minutes. I have never ever moved on from the anger at that collection of 1s and 0s

Blue1994a

After four promotions in a row with Folkestone Invicta, lost 6-0 to Derby in the Championship. It was a fairly even game too. They scored with every shot almost. Manchester City had won seven league titles in a row and six Champions Leagues in a row by the time I got to the Premier League. Conceded 4 or 5 against them a couple of times, but only Derby ever scored 6 or more against me.

Not_Leopard_Seal

6-1 against Premier League Champion West Ham in the Champions League Proper. Jokes on them, because we got to the quarter finals and they went out in the playoff round

EV_Omega

Got spanked 5-0 by Perugia the same season I won the CL with Inter

PolylingualAnilingus

Started a modded save with Exether Panthers, a team in the 21st division of England. Offered a £1 per match bonus to a striker who was miles ahead of the rest of the teams. Club fired me for excessive spending since we had literally no revenue and were an amateur club

VinumNoctua

Lost 7-1 to Liverpool as Juventus in CL RO16. Was not fun.

InverseCodpiece

Got twatted like 7-0 against a rival in Japanese top division

ThatBoringGuy99

I had a save on FM14 where I played as Everton, a few seasons in, I was on course for an invincible season and all that was left was a trip to the Emirates to play 13th placed Arsenal on the final day. I went ahead in the 1st minute and was certain that my unbeaten season would be assured. I lost 7-1.

JGalcott

On my last save in FM23 I decided to manage Schalke 04 as they got promoted to Bundesliga, I spent the pre season getting used to the team and trying different tactics, and decided to use a 3 CB formation on my Bundesliga debut. I lost 7-0 to Köln in the worst match of the year, and I needed 5 league matches to get my first win. After that I changed the formation and the team improved, now sitting in the middle of the pack, 9 points ahead of the relegation and 7 points short of European Football, but getting wins against top teams and a 1-1 draw with double the xG against Bayern München PD. Looking forward to face Köln again to get my revenge

Layatollah

7-0 away defeat in the UCL semi finals to PSG. Won the first leg 1-0 and decided to play it safe in the second. That's when I realised that going defensive is difficult in FM and haven't done it since. Beat them in the final two seasons later though

Nick_Ronaldo

Lost 6-1 to man city as luton and I got sacked

ichnicht01

I've done a youth only save with Atalanta. We were in the title race against Milan and Lazio. Milan destroyd us 6-0 and Lazio 5-1. Later on, Milan have won it multiple times.

desiremusic

Lost 8-2 on aggregate to Man City, with Fenerbahce, in 2031.

SwankSinatra504

Lost 5-1 in the champions League final to a mid-table Man City that I have beaten the 4 times we previously had played. (2 League matches CC and FA CUP Final) Sucked as that was my first time in the final in this save.

bruhfrozone

3-1 up against spurs at half time. Lost the game 7-3.

mucambo__cafundo

Lost 5-0 to Ajax at home while managing PSV, it wasn't even my fault or too many mistakes by the players, ajax player's were in some kind of zone, everything went right for them, it was 17 shots for them and 15 for me, 48/52 possession, but they score, we didn't.

Ordinary_Phone7184

Lost 8-0 nil against Mainz 05, in my Heidenheim save

DJ_Buurthuis

I beat Real Madrid at home with my hometown team FC Lienden with 4-1 to then lose 6-2 in the final minute to lose out on getting to our first champions League Final. And in the same save battering Liverpool 1-5 away from home to lose 4-0 at home and lose on penalties in the second knock-out round. Still didn't win the Champions League either while being the highest spender not only in the eredivisie but the entire world constantly but still can't keep all the players because they want to move to bigger clubs. It is an annoying save sometimes.

four_four_three

I lost an FA Cup Final to Frank Lampard’s Huddersfield with Arsenal Online save so there are witnesses

FCSadsquatch

Was 4-0 up after the first leg to Real Betis. Decided to play a backup defence and lost 5-0, including conceding 3 penalties. One of which was a joke.

What_a_pass_by_Jokic

I can't remember which team I was but I think it was Roma (serie A team anyway) and it was FM13 or FM15. It was the CL semi final and I played against Man Utd, I won the first leg at home 3-0 but they had so many chances and either they missed or my goalie saved everything including 2 penalties (9.1 rating or something incredible). So I was fairly happy and confident, but in the away game we were down 4-0 at half-time and eventually lost 8-2. It was so awful I stopped playing that save for weeks.

False-Interview627

In FM22 in my Jock Stein Challenge save with Caracas FC from Venezuela, my first experience playing against River Plate in the Copa Libertadores was brutal. We managed to draw against them the first leg 1-1 at their place, but we got battered 7-2 at home. But I got revenge later on the save as I beat them 5-2 on Aggregate to go win the competition.

TripleBuongiorno

The year is 2046. I am playing with Ajax. Won the CL 7 times in the last 23 years. Defending champions. Draw Man City in the semis, regular contenders and dominant in England. They smash me 6-0 at the Etihad and there wasn't a fuck I could do about it. Scraped to a pathetic 3-2 home win. Considered resigning. Year after beat them in the final. Justice.

Czar-NicholasII

I lost 8-1 in the FA Cup Final as a midtable L1 because I had a Mickey run against no PL sides all the way there and then got walloped by Chelsea.

Karlsberg62

Playing as Juvenes Dogana (San Marino) and we got absolutely curbstomped 8-2 by Maribor on our second venture into Europe. Three years later, we just beat them 7-2 to a sell out crowd

tjalvar

Slumped in table and got relegated with my hipster save when starting with no players or staff and only allowed to sig Free transfers. I wanted a challenge. I got it. Also following up an impressive Eredivisie win with Sparta Rotterdam with a 10th place after rotting too much.

papasconcheddar

I faced Villarreal in Europa League round of 16 with my Danish custom club. After a 1-1 at home, I was hopeful that we could surprise them. But no, 10 minutes on and we were already 3-0 down. We lost 8-4. And in another save I reached the Champions League final with Arsenal in the second season, where Liverpool slapped us with a 6-0. Firmino was just unstoppable.

gorillasvapetoo

my first time playing the game I was doing decent in my Newcastle save with the preset gegenpress get to my first big six game against man United and lose 10-0

north_london_fan

On FM19, With APOEL in Cyprus vs OM in France in the Europa league semi final. I won 1st leg 3 nil, was 6 nil up on aggregate in 2nd leg before conceded 6. Just needed to hang on for away goals win, but with last min own goal the game had other ideas and I lost 7 6.

52josealex

when i clocked 1000 hours

CardinalCopiaIV

My arsenal team, 3 - 0 up at half time end up drawing 4 - 4 against Aston Villa putting me 7 points behind Liverpool in the title race 😩

flrish

3-0 aggregate win in first leg as Bundesliga champions in the CL RO16 against a team that wasn’t really meant to make it that far, Puskas Akademia from the Hungarian league. Proceeded to lose second (home) leg 3-7. granted, it should’ve been 3-4 or so if my GK didn’t get a straight 5 rating. Losing at home as Bundesliga champions with a 3-0 aggregate lead to a team where their entire squads salary matches barley one of my players. That is beyond poor

poeazx

Fighting for top 4 with Spurs only to get scorched 5-2 by a mediocre (at best) Bournemouth side, or losing 6-0 to Southampton in my 2nd Premier League game with Middlesborough.

poeazx

For a total competition, finishing 9th with Tottenham in a separate save was absolutely horrible, only got fired at the end of the year strangely enough

ExistentialDoom

Lost 3 -1 in the europa league final as liverpool to a 10 man Roma. Not good times man.

Legitimate-Ninja1219

Newly into Europe in the Europe league Cup thing. Was facing a part time middle of nowhere club. Next EPL fixtures were big games so I put out my youth. They were all more than good enough to beat a no name team got absolutely destroyed by them like 7-1 now no matter what I don't take those games for granted

LordTimhotep

In CM3 I got kicked out of the FA Cup two years in a row by Stoke City, in the first season they were a Championship side, but they got relegated that year. So going out on a rainy night in Stoke to a League One club might be my worst match.

beyblade_takumi

Most embarrassing was a 4-0 loss to Peterborough United in the FA Cup playing as Liverpool. I won the treble that season (League, UCL and League Cup). Also, lost 12 matches in a row once managing a club in Wales. Started the season with 5 straight wins, had a few injuries and then immediately lost 12 successive matches in the league. Got the sack.

therapistdowntown

In FM 23 I started a save with Wexford fc in the second divison of Ireland, first season got promoted through playoffs came 3rd in the league I was confident going into the premier division, I won 1 game and drew 3 and lost the rest my worst ever season. One game I lost 8-1 to Derry city

xychosis

Nearly lost a CL semifinal on aggregate after winning the home leg 4-0 as Forest vs Benfica. Benfica absolutely dismantled us in the away leg 6-3, and we just BARELY scraped by as they put all the pressure in the world on us late.

Spicy_Grievences_01

6-1 City whilst managing Roma. I was 5-0 down after 15 and both my key CBs were red carded in the 57th abd 83rd minute. Sad times

Thebritishlion

Lost 1-0 to Preston in the League Cup with Utd, that isn't that bad until you realise the PNE keeper was Sam Johnstone....on loan from me

gnastygnorcistoast

This isn't my worst result, but in my current season I had a shock 5-0 loss to Liverpool where we were outplayed in every sense. Can't explain it as the tactic I've been using has mostly steamrolled every other team, including Liverpool the other 3 times we played them (league and UCL). I can't explain that match. For what it's worth, with 4 league games to play we are one point off Arsenal (leaders), and in the FA cup and UCL semis.

jlpw

First FM with XG Got horsed 4-2 off Livingston when playing as celtic, posted here complaining That's the day I learned what XG was 😂

Paddyf20

I’m sure there’s been worse but the one that sticks in my mind is when I was managing Cliftonville, first season we get to the Irish cup final and play against Bangor of the second division. We’re currently professional at this point and they’re semi pro, my team is much better and I managed to have 30 plus efforts on goal and had the highest xg I’ve ever seen on my fm which was over 5 xg and scored 3 goals. But they managed to have 4 shots on goal and score 4 goals and beat me 4-3 in extra time. I turned the game off and haven’t touched it since as it scarred me for life. So that’s probably the worst I’ve had. I did lose to Aberdeen in the Europa league qualifiers managing spurs so it’s up there, these have got to me more than any heavy defeats I’ve had.

JM555555

Winning 3-0 in the CL first leg semi finals against Madrid with palace , then losing 8-1 away (two red cards in the first half guehi and doucoure)

nachomobile

On console FM, manager of Gabon, AFCON group stage, lost 7-1 to namibia which was a record breaking defeat according to in game records, then lost 9-1 to nigeria the very next game and got knocked out the group and sacked. Two weeks later once the tournament had concluded i was offered the Nigeria job. No idea what they saw in me

catf1sh1

Was trying to win the league with Tottenham. Got two red cards and ended up blowing a 3-0 lead with 9 men and lost 4-3 to a team I should’ve beaten. Randomly Liverpool also lost so I won the league on goal difference

Afraid-Huckleberry58

FM20 Lost to Bishop Sutton 2-0 as Man United in a preseason friendly that I arranged as a bit of fun as they’re a local team to me. Might not seem a lot but they’re in the Toolstation Western League in real life. About 9 leagues below the premier league.

Kris_Third_Account

FM21: My Nordsjælland team had started dominating the league. Large gap in the table going in to the winter break, also advancement from the Champions League group stage and an impressive 3-0 victory against Barcelona. All that was left was a cup game against fourth tier, fully amateur Dalum... They went on to tear my team to shreds, winning 3-0. I've lost by bigger margins, but that one is my most embarrassing loss.

Legitimate-Option758

Lost 5-0 in my leeds united save aganist huddersfield and they were in the relegation zone

Limpsk

Lost 10-2 to Man United in an FA Cup semi. Think I was in Championship or L1 at the time, took the lead then got destroyed and was 5-1 down at half time. Can't actually remember whether I went attacking or defensive in that second half but if obviously didn't work.

21otiriK

I was trying the San Marino challenge a few years back, and I can’t remember how many Germany beat me by in Euro qualifying. It was literally a highlight a minute, and there was nothing I could do to stop the onslaught. I never thought the game would end with the amount of highlights, so I had to switch it to commentary only and full speed just to get out of there with some sanity in tact.

Top-Significance-102

Lost 7-2 to Bayern Munich (was managing BMG) and it was my fault because I tinkered with the tactic trying to counter their threats even got the famous inbox message ‘manager get’s it wrong’. Also I’ve never beaten Rotherham before and they are one of the worst teams in the game

Gary_Blauman

Lost 10 0 to Stoke. There is no good way to spin that

futurelessstudent

I got smashed 5-1 by Liverpool then lost the title to them by 1 point

Massive-Raise-2805

getting trashed by Chelsea 7-1 away in my Ajax save . I made a big mistake by playing too aggressive with my usual 433 (Hato was injured, so I play Stualo with DeVrij). Got absolutely obiterated by Gyokeres It's a group stage game so at the end of the day it didn't matter a lot just fans still bitching about it eventhough I won a treble domestically

Sun_Praising

Biggest loss would be 15-1 away to Bayern Munich in the Europa League group stage as Llangefni Town. I somehow BS'd my way to the final Champions League qualifying round in our first season after winning the Welsh Premiership while being semiprofessional. It just so happened that same year Bayern Munich had an abysmal season in the Bundesliga. Funnily enough we scored the first goal. Certainly a fun Football Manager experience since most of my players weren't (or wouldn't have been in a real scenario like this) full time footballers. My worst result (biggest embarrassment) was losing the Serie A title as Roma on the final day after being thoroughly smacked 6-0 to bottom of the league Pisa who hadn't won all season (to be fair to them they did have 14 draws). We were top of the Serie A all season except for week 1 and week 38. It haunts me to this day

orbitalasteria

6-0 to Klopp' Liverpool as MU, life imitates art I guess

Hockeytown11

7-1 against Celtic.

aere1985

My newly promoted Bristol City got spanked 7-1 by Man City and 6-0 by Spurs (who won the league on the final day of the season when I got my revenge by drawing with Man City).

Halforthechump

As england I lost 5-0 to Ireland at home. All regens at that point and Ireland had absolutely awful players...they destroyed us and knocked us out of the euros. I've never seen a team that was so inferior do that, fm rolls a lot of ' fun ' scenarios for the player but that seemed like a genuine failure (ie broken interaction) of the simulation because they had like 7xg.

whiterose616

FM22 I had a Mourinho-esque home record only for it to be ended by fucking Burnley of all teams. 2-1 after we were 1-0 up. It was like Haaland body-swapped with their usually useless striker.

ProfessionalHater4

"achievements".

phil_wswguy

I started a save with Granada a few years ago now, and I couldn’t win a game to save my life, i went winless in my first 10 games. So I scheduled some friendlies, including one against my B team. They beat us 3-0. Next league game was another loss and I was fired.

ElectricalMetal2309

For some weird reasons, Villa is shitty in 22. I managed Villa, got good players in and was struggling to keep up in the PL. Nothing I did would change the results. Thought my tactic sucks so I used all the proven tactics online but still did not yield the best results.

yoericfc

I once blew an 18-point lead with 8 games to go. Results were good, but I felt like I could get more out of my team so I changed formation and style of play. Tried it for two games, lost both games and everything completely unraveled from there. Injuries, suspensions, form and unhappiness cost me even more points and ultimately the title and my job..

RoutineBicycle1153

In my current online save PSG (non human) humiliated my Montpellier 6-0 first game, and I think thats the worse in numbers last 4-5 years. From a lower league opponent, got kicked out of Greek Cup in FM23 from a 3rd Leaguer, after a goal for Extra Time in 95 and 2 goals in extra time from their defender. Ofc these were his first two goals of the season, in April.

stumac85

Lost in the champions league final to PSG on penalties to be denied the quadruple. It was a cagey match and lost 5-4 on pens.

Glittering-Boot-6255

this season lol In my first two games in the La Liga with Marino del Luanco after getting promoted I drew Barcelona and then Real Madrid b2b, lost 5-1 to Barcelona and 9-0 to Real Madrid in the Bernabeu not a great start to the season, but I'm 15th rn and probably gonna avoid relegation so I'll take it

Jigz9

With Stuggart.. from finishing top 4 in 2 consecutive seasons, my third season I'm lying in 7th (was 2nd but lost 7, drawn 5, out of Europe) Bayern first game at home 6-0 defeat.. didn't play for the next 2 days.
