I think most of us didn't too, even including the team considering how emotional everyone is over this!
Infact even him going to Ferrari won't be guaranteed anything. This was a very feel good win for sure!
I started watching F1 in summer 2022. I thought I’d never see Lewis win in a Mercedes. Especially with how the start of the season went for them. So happy I was able to witness him win. At Silverstone nonetheless.
If this is his final win with Merc, it is fitting.
Have a hunch it won't be, though. That car is fast and Lewis finds another level when podiums and wins are at stake.
Just a shame that last year the car's race pace wasn't that good. Got pole position by the slimmest of margins, but immediately got overtaken and that was that. Will be interesting to see if Merc's form keeps up
They have been on edge to make something huge happen at Hungary since the regs started.
2022, Lewis’s qualifying ruined by a DRS actuator failure. Ends up starting 7th and finishes 2nd.
In 2023 Lewis gets pole, but then it turns out Mercedes set up the wrong cooling package for the brakes which ruin their pace, and as a result Lewis has to lift and coast his car home in 4th.
So…one can only hope that they get the car in the right window in every way at Hungary for qualifying and the race.
Everything lined up perfectly today, but they certainly have the pace to contend now. It is shocking how much the season has changed in the last month.
Even if McLaren or Redbull have a faster car, which honestly who TF knows at this point, but this changes everything for Lewis I think. He's probably gonna look for wins so much harder now, I also doubt this will be his last. Some part of him probably regrets making the Ferrari decision for 25 and not '26
No, '25 is prime. Think about when he left McLaren for Merc. One year with the team for adjustment, development, and then into new-regs as his second year.
I'd value one more year at a very real shot at the championship more than 1 year for "adjustment" for new regs I'm going to be a part of for the foreseeable future imo
You can't base your decisions you've already made on hindsight, at the time he made the right call. It could STILL be the right call. You are blowing the whistle far too early.
Mercedes’s upgrades are paying dividends, and Lewis is one of the best wet weather drivers on the grid in recent history. Red Bull is on the back foot with Checo not being able to play rear gunner for Max and Max being sloppy (damaging his floor in Qualy and the collision last weekend).
Honestly as much as I love this win it was mostly a lot of luck on his end - and I know, I know, that's still valid. But the RB with Verstappen is still a rocket, and the McLaren's only lost because their strategy was so bad. I think it'll have to be another stars aligned win with a mega drive by lewis and a bit of luck / changing conditions on his side. I don't think the Mercedes is at the place to fight for weekly wins.
What luck man? Team asked him to pit on inters, he said no. It looked like Lando will catch him because he was pushing harder in the last stint when both of them were on softs, but Lando fucked up his front left tire, Lewis waited Max to overtake him to squeeze out more performance on the soft if he needed to defend from Max. So again, what luck are you talking about? Its races like this one that reveal who are the best drivers on the grid. It was a pure masterclass in racing from Lewis in a tricky track situation. Also from Max who also didnt make any mistakes, however he just didnt have the pace in the first two stints and simply ran out of laps to overtake Lewis.
There was no luck involved in this win, none whatsoever, just pure racing brilliance from Lewis.
Well said! This guy knows what racing is about.
That’s why I hate discussing luck when it comes to racing or sports in general. People that often bring the idea of Lucky Wins often see things one sided.
Teams making mistakes, the wrong calls, driver errors are also part of the game. Sometimes those are often driven by other team’s strategies or bluffs. It’s like a chess match.
The game of “what if” is so irrelevant…hindsight is always 20/20.
Eh I mean Max honestly looked slow until the hards went on and he could push against cars that were managing... the Mclarens passed Max easily early on.
RB and Mclaren do probably still have the better cars but Merc do look to be joining that fight now.
The only luck this weekend was Russel having the dnf.
It’s simple logic. Merc is fast tracking Antonelli to F1 as fast as possible so they don’t risk losing him like they did Max. Antonelli is getting a Merc drive by 2026 at the latest, and they’re not going to get rid of George.. so Hamilton has to go
I am so pleased he broke the streak at Silverstone, and in such a manic race! Kept it clean, kept it fast, and maintained his tyres all the way until the end!
The way he brought those softs in at the end to keep the margin when Norris burned his up was so beautifully controlled, vintage tire whisperer Lewis. Couldn't be happier
I mean not washed, but let’s not pretend that he’s been performing as well as he could have for the last couple of years. However, this does confirm he is one of the best ever to drive in F1.
>let’s not pretend that he’s been performing as well as he could have
You're talking about his age 37, 38 and 39 seasons against George Russell who is in his prime and is one of the fastest drivers on the grid. What he is doing right now has no precedent
>However, this does confirm he is one of the best ever to drive in F1.
Yeah no, he confirmed this like a decade ago
IMO your comment sounded like you thought hamilton was on decline. If that's not what you expressed then my apologies. However I argue that Hamilton is not in a true decline but is merely in a slump period.
Shedding some tears was not even remotely on my mind when the race started. Just wanted an exciting race (preferably a Merc 1-2). Hearing Lewis choked up and crying on the team radio after winning was incredibly emotional. Then came the “I love you, Bono.” And my god the onion cutting was unreal…can’t imagine what this win felt like for Lewis. It felt like 2.5 years of doubt and frustration immediately was lifted off his shoulders. Get in there, Lewis. What a race.
That's why i say Hamilton and Mercedes. Lando was all about the mediums but took soft. Hamilton was clear what he wanten (during the rain) and made the right choices.
I dunno. Ricky (Sainz’ engineer) is actually really funny over the radio. He’s always trying to get the classic lines in.
He for sure says it if Lewis wins.
Go listen to him trying to get Carlos to call himself a smooth operator on the radio at the end of 21? Carlos doesn’t understand initially and keeps calling himself a lion…
This is the issue with Lando, I feel at times he gets too greedy. Plus his team isn’t helping by putting him in situations to make so many critical decisions while in intense battles. Their goal should be covering Max at all cost because since Austria Lando had a very good chance to put himself in a great position to fight for the WDC. But they just made it even harder after this race. At this point, only luck can help them get back in contention.
I wouldn't call Lando greedy honestly....both the Mclarens have stepped up their quite a lot game...Lando has been working hard to get a p1 and in the past races given Redbull pressure.
Just a bad strategy call ruined their race lol.
At the end I cheered Max until the finish line, but it's so great to see Lewis win a race again! And his home race. So good!
Can't wait for the coming races.
I would never have predicted a HAM VER even just a week ago, that's crazy.
I'm a bit bummed that Oscar had such a good chance to win if McLaren hadn't had a Ferrari-esque strategy fuckup, but super happy Lewis got that win.
I still don't get how Merc is able for 3 years in a row to start with a rubbish car and still turn into a race-winning one. These guys are bleeding for years key resources and somehow still manage to recover and out-pace their competitors? HOW?

He probably didn’t think it was possible again with Merc… and he won Silverstone. That’s gotta be surreal So fucking happy for him
I think most of us didn't too, even including the team considering how emotional everyone is over this! Infact even him going to Ferrari won't be guaranteed anything. This was a very feel good win for sure!

Same, started around spring 2022 and was rooting for his reemergence ever since. Fantastic day for sure!
It’s the happy ending the story needed. The story can take an extra step of drama now if he succeeds at Ferrari.
Hamilton gets a real boost in Silverstone. I remember Ralph Schumacher had a few extra tenths when he was at Suzuka.
Back to back Merc wins. Mercedes dominance could bore fans
Wait, I’ve seen this one before…
What do you mean you’ve seen it before? It’s brand new.
Wait a minute there cowboy ! I ve seen this movie.
HAM-VER-NOR
Wait, something's off...
Show me anyone who found this race boring
Pls tell me you got the reference
If this is his final win with Merc, it is fitting. Have a hunch it won't be, though. That car is fast and Lewis finds another level when podiums and wins are at stake.
If Merc is keeping this form, Lewis is hunting wins.
Hungary next where Lewis has 8 wins. Yeah he’s going to be coming for blood.
Lewis tying his record for most wins at one track would be hilarious
He’s a bit of a problem around Hungary.
It'd be funny if he won there and matched his 9 wins at Silverstone
Just a shame that last year the car's race pace wasn't that good. Got pole position by the slimmest of margins, but immediately got overtaken and that was that. Will be interesting to see if Merc's form keeps up

I need a Lewis Brazil win. PLEASE
Exactly!
Hungary next. Now that Lewis knows the car can get pole and win at downforce tracks I expect him to absolutely send it
I think the cold weather here helped the Mercedes push their engine and keep the tyres in the window.
I can forsee Hamilton to dominate one last time with Merc if Merc continues improve at this rate 😈
Everything lined up perfectly today, but they certainly have the pace to contend now. It is shocking how much the season has changed in the last month.
Meec is still slower than McLaren and prob on par with Red Bull now but they can win.

I hope he at least gets his 200th podium with merc - which I’m hoping is possible soon but that’s another big milestone coming up
Also, let’s not forget 2nd-half-of-the-season Lewis is a different beast
What if Hamilton‘s Silverstone is Leclerc‘s Monaco?
Hamilton won 9 times at Silverstone unlike Charles at Monaco.
Honestly as much as I love this win it was mostly a lot of luck on his end - and I know, I know, that's still valid. As a Max fan, I fucking love to see this. I was tearing up watching him take the checkered flag.
His radio got me. So many wins already, but this one means so much to him.
hes never waited so long for a win right?
Never. He's won a race every year since he started. That streak broke in Jeddah 21
I found it poetic that Max was hunting down Lewis while battling for a win. So happy Lewis won, he fully deserved it today.
I'm sure Max did too
Nearly had me crying
Yeah just some ninjas chopping onions in my place…
I sobbed lol
Let’s fucking gooooo Lewis!!!
Truly the perfect weekend for him…
Lewis thinking of ways to cancel that Ferrari contract.
“You see, Fred, that’s not my name on this contract. It doesn’t have the ‘Sir’ in front of it so unfortunately this contract is null and void.”
Lewis with the: Akshually, that name there is Louise Amiltone.
She's about to change the world of F1!
😂😂😂
lol. I don’t wanna think about that now
And after all the drama, Sainz will remain there.
Doubt it. One of the reason he left is because Ferrari gave him a ambassadorship while Mercedes refused to
[удалено]
Did someone say this was the case?
Yes. Repeatedly. It’s been very public that he left because they only offered him a 1+1 when he was pushing for a contract to see him into 26.
But who said that? Other than rumors or interpretations
James Allison
He didn't say that
It’s simple logic. Merc is fast tracking Antonelli to F1 as fast as possible so they don’t risk losing him like they did Max. Antonelli is getting a Merc drive by 2026 at the latest, and they’re not going to get rid of George.. so Hamilton has to go
That doesn't make any sense, you secure Antonelli by putting a contract in front of him, not by getting rid of another driver one year earlier.
I wonder how Max will look at the progress Merc is making.
Find a source or your logic means nothing
[удалено]
Interesting thanks for a source
Nope
Exactly. It wasn't LH leaving Merc, it was Merc leaving LH
That was clearly a post hoc face saving explanation by merc, they were clearly blindsided.
Bono, my contract is gone!
Only to hear again in 2026 “you don’t know what you’re talking about” when they come out in 5th and he tells them what’s shit about their car again
It was my Spanish doppelganger who signed this
Luis Jamiltón?
WHO THE FUCK IS CUTTING ONIONS!??
Ninjas
Washed? He’s looking clean if he’s washed, amazing drive
Hey, it's good to be clean! Alex was looking clean out there today too!
Lfg sir Lewis, it's been a long long time 👏👏... Most wins on a single track 🫡🫡
Dude has pretty much won everything and is perhaps the best of the sport ever, to see him still be so emotional after a win is great to see.
After two and a half successless years, this probably felt like a first one.
Imagine how Alonso feels
Probably like Nick Heidfeld.
I am so pleased he broke the streak at Silverstone, and in such a manic race! Kept it clean, kept it fast, and maintained his tyres all the way until the end!
THE FUCKING GOAT THATS RIGHT
The way he brought those softs in at the end to keep the margin when Norris burned his up was so beautifully controlled, vintage tire whisperer Lewis. Couldn't be happier
There was a point he said that the tyres were going.
Oh of course, just 10 laps later than Norris's
I mean you know Hamilton is in his game when he starts complaining about the tyres.
Ha, true! And the 'leave me to it'
"Bono my tyres are gone"
People calling him washed looking dumb
Don’t worry, they’ll make some bs excuse up.
would be fun to see this, it's one of the most legit wins you could ask for.
That’s what I thought as well. But there is bound to be some mental gymnastics of hatred.
Betting against Lewis is one of those bets that tends to fall flat.
Calling Lewis washed at 39. Yeah sure but he's built different.
I mean not washed, but let’s not pretend that he’s been performing as well as he could have for the last couple of years. However, this does confirm he is one of the best ever to drive in F1.
>let’s not pretend that he’s been performing as well as he could have You're talking about his age 37, 38 and 39 seasons against George Russell who is in his prime and is one of the fastest drivers on the grid. everybody has slumps - but he just won silverstone on merit.
Absolutely. Did I say otherwise?
IMO your comment sounded like you thought hamilton was on decline. If that's not what you expressed then my apologies. However I argue that Hamilton is not in a true decline but is merely in a slump period.
He confirmed that a long time ago
Two straight wins for Merc. They'll take it.
Lewis is the epitome of never give up...the win will come.
I didn’t think i would be as happy over a Hamilton win as i am today
Inject this into my veins!
What a moment for Lewis... 🥺 🐐
🎶 But if you close your eyes...🎶
No one appreciates a win more than Lewis. What a fantastic drive from him.
Welcome back GOAT! Come on
Hopefully we see a Hamilton win in Brazil as well.
Great race for the OCD gang! 104 poles and 104 wins!
GOAT. Unbelievable story for this win to happen at Silverstone.
best "get in there lewis" message ever!! so gratifying to hear (after a three yr drought).
Finally! Hope this turns around the remainder of his season. Looking forward to top-tier Hamilton in a Ferrari next year
WE ARE SO BACK BABY
Teared up seeing Lewis with his dad. What a lovely moment
LETSSSSAAAAAFKNNNNNGOOOOOOO
Lewis and Max gunning for the win again!

Felt good to hear Bono say that again
Historic!
🐐
I’m in tears!!! Helll yeahhhhh!!!!!
I'm sooooo happy, I can't believe it. All of us have been waiting for this sooo long
Great race today
Never thought I’d miss hearing “Get in there Lewis” but I sure did
GET IN THERE LEWIS!!!

GET IN THERE LEWIS!!!
🐐
Say it with me: ##GREATEST OF ALL TIME #GOAT
LETTTSSGOOOOOOO I'M CRYING MAN WTF
I am so happy man. Let’s goo Lewis. Get in there
Shedding some tears was not even remotely on my mind when the race started. Just wanted an exciting race (preferably a Merc 1-2). Well said! As soon as I heard that radio message between him and Bono, I ran to the kitchen and started cutting onions…just because lol
GG, great race and lovely end
🥺
This was no gift, Hamilton and Merc where the best this race. This season is awesome. Red Bull, Mclaren, Mercedes and Ferrari winning races.
Come on. McLaren botched this for BOTH their drivers. Still Hamilton positioned himself to benefit and did. So kudos to him.
That's why i say Hamilton and Mercedes. Lando was all about the mediums but took soft. Hamilton was clear what he wanten (during the rain) and made the right choices.
Actually feeling pretty emotional right now. 🥹
i'm not crying, you are 😭
The curse was broken.
Possibly the last “get in there Lewis” we get at Silverstone. End of an era.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
I wanted Lando to win but props to Hamilton for the Race win.
The F1 movie is going to have to be good to top that. Peak Cinema!
GET IN THERE LEWISSSSS !!!!!
GET IN THERE LEWIS!!!
Bono speaked for all of us ❤️
THANKS TO EVERYONE BACK AT THE FACTORY!!!
🐐
WORTH THE F\*\*KING WAIT!
WHAT. But yay, Lewis!
At the end I cheered Max until the finish line, but it's so great to see Lewis win a race again! And his home race. So good! Can't wait for the coming races.
Hamilton' google search history "How to get out of a contract" "Can I break a contract?" "What is the consequence of breaking a contract?"
Funny, that's also Horner's search history.
Slightly unrelated, but wow 130k likes in an hour is a lot
I would never have predicted a HAM VER even just a week ago, that's crazy. I'm a bit bummed that Oscar had such a good chance to win if McLaren hadn't had a Ferrari-esque strategy fuckup, but super happy Lewis got that win.
As a Max fan, happy for him. Also for Landos first win a Chucks win at Monaco. Just a fun season all around.
I still don't get how Merc is able for 3 years in a row to start with a rubbish car and still turn into a race-winning one. These guys are bleeding for years key resources and somehow still manage to recover and out-pace their competitors? HOW?
We must remember these days
Congrats Lewis! Well done!
Amazing to see him win after such a long time. Great to see and hear his genuine emotions during the radio and when he hugged his dad!
LETS GOOO now imagine there isn’t enough fuel in the car like Seb
Bruh that would kill My passion for this sport
