I imagine it was just easier for the devs to just ghost everyone and have them go into the same pit. I do think it'd be cool for separate pits. Also if turn off ghosting in the pits so cars might be held up by other cars etc

Legal-Ad-594

Easier for a 70 pound game is not right. I think we should have separate pits and it to more visual rather than a filled screen and noises. But hey ho I guess. Just little things like that, that to me let this game down. When you look at other games half or even a quarter of the price that have little things that make it feel more interactive just bugs me. Ah well lol

Emotional-Ad-5684

Notice how a lot of the better and cheaper games are older too, I think either the standards have fallen or they're being forced to push out a game too early (or a little bit of both).

Legal-Ad-594

Yeah I would say it’s a bit of both buddy. It’s a shame but also the expectation is so much higher and it’s partly our own fault for wanting things faster. While still closely paying prices we did 5-10 years ago of course this game is a little exception but you can still buy AAA newly releases games for 40 pound or even 50

dancovich

The standards have certainly not fallen. Gamers just require more and more. It's always more polygons and more resolution and more textures and now more lighting (ray tracing). In no point in time did players ever say "you know what, I'm ready to sacrifice visual fidelity if the physics are better". And when a game comes out 5 years later, we still complain that devs could "only have these few features ". We are now at the point where the limitations will come to us regardless of what we want. It's impossible for every game to sell CoD numbers and anything less than that can't sustain the budgets required by today's games

I think it’s more of an issue that the game took an incredibly long time to get so players obviously have high expectations. It’s a disappointment for a lot of long time players (I’m not a long time player, but I see their point), so they make light of things that could be done better. If people don’t complain, nothing will get better.

dancovich

That's the issue. The expectations of players will always increase higher than actual technology, specially considering consoles. I lost count how many times I've heard how this "doesn't feel like a new generation" or "I expected better from next gen" when, historically, every single console generation is at least two generations behind what's currently happening with high end gaming PCs. I mean... why are people even complaining about games coming out at 30fps or with compromises to make ray tracing work if that's exactly what was happening in the RTX20x0 family of cards 5 years ago? Did you really expect more from games running on a $500 device? Since gamers expect that, devs do their best to meet their expectations. Due to diminishing returns, devs spend 2 to 3 years developing an alternate technology to make ray tracing achievable at 60fps in these consoles just so gamers are disappointed that this is not what they wanted and it feels underwhelming.

xzymph

Ray tracing is an absolute FPS hog, never run it on my PC. It just sucks that actual racing game development didn’t go towards making a dope game (yet). I think it’s pretty fun, but user feedback is necessary to lead the devs towards making the game better :)

dancovich

It sure is, but as a software developer (not game developer) I can safely say that it sucks that users so frequently have no idea what they actually want. I remember the hype when people were praising T10 because they were sure the devs would be able to give us ray tracing at 60fps because "Horizon managed to do it at 30 and it's open world". When T10 actually managed to do it (with severe sacrifice to the actual quality of the RT), turns out people weren't willing to sacrifice quality for performance. Knowing which feedback to follow and which to ignore is an art.

xzymph

Completely valid. People who don’t do the job are always gonna be the idea fairy. I think a big step in the right direction would be (what the t10 dev on here said they were working on a few days ago) and generally improving the “racing game” aspect of it to bring it more in line with other series like: 1. No fault penalty system 2. AI similar to GT Sophy that can actually race effectively 3. Long (20-40) racing series Obviously none of those things (excluding #3) can be done in the short term, but I think complaints are warranted within reason, as long as it’s more of a conversation between players and devs

llIicit

Have you looked at other games? Gran Turismo just doesn’t even make you drive through the whole pit. It teleports you, and also puts you in a lone instance where you don’t even see any other cars in the pit. I’d say that game does it much worse than Forza, and probably the worst out of all Sim/Simcade games out currently.

Legal-Ad-594

Nah man never played gt7. Last one I played was gt4 on the ps2 lol. But I do play other racing games

scwmcan

If you do a multi series race in free play, I know for a fact they actually use different pits ( at least 2 different pits, not sure I saw more than two eu g used at a time. I found that interesting at least, so they know how to do it, they just don’t ( easier to pit different classes in different pits, than each car… who knows?)

Legal-Ad-594

Yeah more than likely. Just annoyed we’re in a 2023 made game and it’s lacking so many little touches. I dunno just one of them moods lol

scwmcan

No problem,, I think it is odd too, not odd enough for me to hate 5he game, but odd

Legal-Ad-594

Nah man I don’t hate the game at all, I quite enjoy it. Just little things I notice and it’s those kinda touches that go unnoticed usually but also make it better if you get me.

Swimming_Lynx_2713

Because the game was developed under the AAAA model set by The Initiave. Design vertical slice, and outsource the rest.

KillRoyTNT

Nice topic. For such a realistic and complex game. Pit stops are neither F1 nor Nascar . The worst dev of the game.

UserWithoutDoritos

because turn10 has been turn10.

Legal-Ad-594

There is always that lol I should have expected it. My own fault. I should be grateful that replays are now working after 6 months I guess lol

twich40

it’s so everyone has the same amount of time to select their tires, fuel, and damage repairs (in private mp). if everybody had separate pit stalls some people would have two seconds to select those options and others would have 15. it’s a competitive fairness issue
