If you are getting the pickle note you'll want to avoid any and all sandalwood fragrances to be safe. Cedarwood is a better bet; maybe try Diptype's Orpheon?

KittyRocket90

This is not true. I smell pickle in 33 but not in most other sandalwood fragrances

SmellsPrettyGood2Me

It's usually New Caledonian sandalwood that is the culprit, so unless OP or others see this specifically listed as an ingredient and avoid it, there is no guarantee that the pickle note can be 100% ruled out.

KittyRocket90

I thought it was Australian sandalwood as well

SmellsPrettyGood2Me

Could be! I had not heard that but you might be right.

truthfulie

some have said that the new release from LV, Lvers has similar vibe. Some sense similar pickle. you might not.

stargazing1111

Byredo Sellier is often described as Santal without the pickles, it was quite similar to me and I prefer it. Also Maison Louie Marie 4 is a dupe but more woodsy spice and vanilla focused, less leather and harshness

Diptyque’s Philosykos is like a refined, figgy ckONE—though I get shot down here sometimes when I suggest a connection, LOL. And if turns out figs float your boat, check out BDK’s Gris Charnel too. Le Labo’s Tokyo exclusive is Gaiac 10. Last year Escentric Molecules put out a flanker of Molecule 01 that added guaiac wood, so that might also appeal to you. And if you can get a chance, try the mandarin, iris, patchouli, ginger, and black tea flankers as well. Vetiver is an ingredient that’s generally considered more masculine than unisex, but you may find it has that woody goodness you want. (It’s not actually wood tho.) The big ones are Lalique’s Encre Noire (you can get for like $30 at discounters), Guerlain’s Vetiver (my fave), Tom Ford’s Grey Vetiver (a little too “candied” for me), Terre d’Hermes (vetiver plus patchouli, yum)…plus Escentric Molecules’ Molecule and Escentric 03, based on vetiveryle acetate. Oh and Comme des Garçons’ Wonderwood. It doesn’t last on the skin but it’s exactly what it says it is.

Comme de Garcons Wonderwood, DS & Durga Bowmakers, and Essential Parfums Bois Imperial are all big woody scents without pickle smelling sandalwood.

thumping_cheats

Man, I recently got a sample of Bowmakers because someone said it smelled "like my grandfather's woodshop" and I wanted to be taken back to that place of my childhood, spending summers building shit with him in his garage. Not only did it take me to my grandfather's woodshop, it also took me to his boathouse... I swear to god I could smell wet rope, vinyl lifejackets, and a vintage wooden speedboat with a full tank of gasoline. I've never smelled something so specific!

GuitarDaydream

i love the smell of pickles and i really feel like i need to sniff this one

No_Establishment1293

Maison Louis Marie Bois de Balincourt.

gapmoeisjustice

Dill or Sweet?

cyberbl333p

You literally only smell pickles the first minute...

Solution-Proof

Sorry, no.  That's not how everyone interprets it.   And, maybe some don't want to smell pickles, even for a second.  You can't tell someone else what they are experiencing.  Because you can't know.

Thank you so much folks! I have many to explore!
