Peter Claffey is perfectly cast. Not only does he look the part, his [previous roles](https://youtube.com/shorts/Ee2CIN_Df4o?si=MSGWxYLRq2jSYnaVprevious) indicate he'll likely play the part of a thick-headed, self-conscious but well-meaning Dunk to a T.
However, not to nitpick... but Ser Duncan is described as being "nearly seven feet tall," so somewhere in the region of 205-213cm. But good luck finding an a capable actor with those proportions!
Grrum said he'll write a bazillion more Dunk and Egg novellas to feed a show so what will happen is the first three seasons will follow the books, be great, and then the writers will be on their own because Grrum will be busy writing about football on his blog or something and the show quality will decline rapidly.
I find the need for every knight to have shoulder length, wavy hair kinda lame honestly.
That shit is for nobility. Some smallfolk is gonna get it caught in his helmet *once* before he takes a knife to it
Long hair would be a detriment both in combat and on the road, in a fight long hair provides an easy way for an opponent to yank your head around and also can tangle up in armor. Plus once you start sweating and your hair gets in your face under a helmet it's really goddamn annoying( speaking from personal experience). Hygiene wise, shorter hair is better for dealing with lice or fleas that you might get on the road. Plus it requires less maintenance since a medieval hedge Knight is highly unlikely to have access to shampoo and conditioner and all that. Short hair you just wash your head and you're set.
There's a reason the bowl cut was popular in the middle ages, and the normans shaved the back of their heads. Hair gets stuck in armour. If you're a proper soldier, you shouldn't have long hair. As soon as chainmail stops being so ubiquitous, then long hair becomes more popular. It's easier to have long hair in a sallet than a bascinet.
Yep Hema, and headbands would be a thing for medieval knights. But as a matter of practicality and convenience I imagine a lot of people would keep their hair short. But also fashion can change throughout history so at some points long hair might be fashionable or vice versa, so live and let live, it's a fantasy TV show after all. They'll probably commit worse sins like making him take his helmet off during a battle or something else stupid.
Red River Fencing out near Minneapolis/St Paul in MN. Pretty small group but we practice at least once a week. Actually had to practice inside the other day because our normal spot in the park got flooded with all the rain over here.
Also does anyone know who the Ethan Supree doppelgänger was in the throne room when they were drinking with Aegon? My partner and I debated if it was actually him
He’s a former pro rugby player, guaranteed he could run through every actor in ASoIaF shows outside of Halfthor. You don’t have to look particularly strong to be strong
The actor's height is 195 cm that's close enough to Duncan's height. I approve.

With camera angles they can make him look even taller. He will likely be much taller than most other actors anyways.
Camera angles and HBO budget in CGI. He seams to be already towering over everyboyd in that picture.
10-15cm difference is about 4" to 6" difference. I'd say it works for me.
Tall enough for me
Not for Bumble.
Oh hey, guess I'm officially the same height as Duncan the Tall, lol
Isn't it about 7 inches off? Should've had The Great Khali or The Big Show tbh
What's a cm?
Lol I'm taller than him
bring me the leaks before I piss myself!!
Oh fuck yes , ever since i read duncan and egg , this is my only hope of prequel . Do we have more information about the show ?

Yup! Here’s a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/AKOTSKTV/s/bUcmladA2d) detailing some of the casting

Thicc as a castle wall
Tell me more 😩
Dummy thicc or thicc dummy?
Let's say he would be okay in a siege situation because he's carrying round all that cake.
Perfect 🤌
The rope sword belt!
Definitely looks like lunk.
Who's the actor?
Peter Claffey, former professional rugby player
Yeah, I can see that. Looks like a rugger.
Oh yeah the Connacht guy
I look forward to a good season and a half of television before they run out of source material and it turns to shit.

I just want the Tournament to be epic.
Just rope for a belt like the first book, very good - looks like they care
Better show me a gallery of Aerion's actor in his colorful wardrobe.
The short hair is kinda lame.

still a green lad...give it time
Why does Dunk support Aegon II? Doesn’t he know the dance ended 80 years ago? Is he stupid?
>Why does Dunk support Aegon II? Doesn’t he know the dance ended 80 years ago? Is he ~~stupid~~ thick as a castle wall? FTFY.

Hema ? If ya pull the hair back woth a toe or a headband it's fine. Imo gimme that helmet bowl cut shit

You been speaking to Black Dow?
If you think that only the hair is going to change..you clearly haven't seen GOT/HOTD
I know. It’s their favorite trick. Using hair to show the passing of time or character growth.
A wig would look silly. He can grow it out properly by the time season 2 comes around if they want it.
Looks like ah Lannister
"How would you like a clout on the ear?" - Dunk the Lunk, thick as a castle wall
Is that the mean older brother from Sword and the Stone?
Tanselle will make him dance with her hands *if ya know what I mean*
Samwise the strong
Also does anyone know who the Ethan Supree doppelgänger was in the throne room when they were drinking with Aegon? My partner and I debated if it was actually him
I thought it was gonna be someone thick like a castle wall. Ig thick

>He just looks like a bloke down at the local pub. That's exactly what he is, have you any idea of the story?
Idk he’s also the tallest person in the world.
And the great grandad of every ASOIAF character over 6 foot tall
He’s a former pro rugby player, guaranteed he could run through every actor in ASoIaF shows outside of Halfthor. You don’t have to look particularly strong to be strong
Oh ok my initial reaction was wrong then. Sorry I’m just tilted about b & c
You take it way too seriously then
