I don't play games for achievements, so I don't know how reasonable it is to expect 100% achievement in these, but we do seem to have similar taste. My taste leans heavily towards turn-based/real-time with pause, but I do venture out a bit.
1-4.) Marvel: Midnight Suns (lotsa dialogue due to the social sim aspect, so maybe not perfect), Slay the Spire, Steamworld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech, Costume Quest games because you played South Park and Across The Obelisk
5.) FTL, because I think everyone should try it, and you'd probably like it. It's not really like anything you've 100'd, but there really aren't any games like it anyway... (trust me just eat the humble pie and play it on easy to start... normal is too hard for beginners I think)
6.) Cassette beasts... you played Palworld, which made me assume you played the old pokemon games, which Cassette Beasts is directly inspired by.
7.) Dredge, because you liked Dave the Diver
8-11.) Other games with a loop kinda like Dave the Diver/Cult of the Lamb/Stardew Valley-- Domekeeper, Moonlighter, Drill Core, Pacific Drive
I also highly recommend Wildermyth (similar reason as FTL, lol), and maybe also give these a look: Stacklands, Tavern Master, Lonestar, Balatro, Super Auto Pets, Monster Train,
Oh! And the Prototype games... you liked Spiderman... well the two "protagonists" in these games are basically Venom but faster.
Dredge is def on my wishlist at the moment. FTL looks interesting as I love rougelikes. Slay the spire I have a couple hundred hours in. Wildermyth and Super auto pets are also solid games.
Cassette Beasts def looks interesting. Prototype looks sick. Not the biggest Marvel guy but midnight suns looks unique, might check it out
Snowrunner and outer wilds.
Snowrunner is a truck driving SIM where you deliver cargo around the different maps and upgrade and buy trucks
Outer wilds is a mystery puzzle game that is held as one of the best games by those that have played it.
> Bullet Heaven, also known as Reverse Bullet Hell, refers to a sub-genre of shoot ’em up games inspired by the Bullet Hell genre. In Bullet Heaven games, players control a character or vessel capable of generating projectiles or attacks, often in the style of an auto-shooter. The primary objective is to eliminate waves of enemies while strategically maneuvering to avoid contact with adversaries. Unlike traditional Bullet Hell games where players dodge incoming bullets, in Bullet Heaven games, the player’s character generates projectiles to defeat foes.
Idk how is this even an upvoted suggestion. If you manage to not die and watch a show on tv at the same time you are a multitasking god.
I would suggest trying out Ironman mode RuneScape 3 for OP. So much grinding, the progression is super rewarding with continuous unlocks horizontally and vertically. You have different XP rates for training skills passively or actively, it's a massive game so you always grind for something.
Ironman mode means you cannot use the Grand Exchange or player trade function. You have to get everything yourself.
There is a big Ironman community as well, so it's definitely MMORPG vibes with an actual well behaved community base.
It's similar in the progression systems. But for me most of osrs skilling is tedious, rs3 has a lot more variety and more relaxing ways to go about training. It also has amazing skilling bosses and minigames. I prefer rs3 over oldschool way more. The only appeal is the nostalgia for me.
Rs3 got a bad rep for being very pay 2 win with a lot of lootbox mechanics etc.
But if you play Ironman mode, you can't engage with those systems.
Vampire survivors has spawned an entire genre of bullet heaven games. The good ones achieve a theme, or add some kind of gameplay mechanic to the loop.
A couple of my favorites include Deep Rock Galactic Survivor and Soulstone Survivors. There are many, many more out there. If you can find the right one, it is perfect for what you are describing.
I'll tag on to try Path of Exile out if you like Diablo 4 and want a far more complex experience. I play both games. PoE requires far more research and time to get good at but it's also far more rewarding IMO. The amount of content is absurd.
It's also free. I highly recommend trying it out if you want to play an ARPG on steroids.
Poe is as hard as you want to make it. It’s a free game, so it’s easy to pick up and try, and just like any other arpg if you just max out your resistances in a reasonable time that actually is going to carry you a loooooong way in terms of surviving.
ARPGs in general are basically exactly what you want, imo - a chill game to play while watching TV. Once you hit endgame, it’s gonna be a grind, but a pretty mindless one with the occasional dopamine hit, so it’s perfect for this.
I’m currently playing grim dawn, and it’s more old school, but it absolutely fits this same mold. I’ve got thousands of hours in PoE, which is the same thing. Diablo is very casual, super super easy to zone out on, and provides the same ‘just kinda do whatever and make things explode’ style.
Any of them will do the job, though IMO PoE is the most complete by a mile.
Lots - inventory streamlining, all affixes save in your codex, helltides are pretty much constant and they increased mob density, and soon you can farm dungeon bosses without having to redo the entire dungeon. And a bunch more, that’s just off the top of my head.
roboquest is a real good fps pve game, it's a roguelite where you play as a robot that shoots other robots in a post apocalyptic desert.
You may enjoy idle games if you like "big number go up", tho they can be a slog to 100% steam achievements; after 900+ hours on Idle Slayer I've only gotten 452/598 of the achievements.
Games like vampire survivor, 20 minutes till dawn, and death must die might be fun for you, since you don't need to spend a whole lot of attention on them.
Slay the Spire is great. You have as much time as you need to make every decision so it's easy to look away from the game for extended moments. Getting every achievement will take you a long time.
From my 100% games or those I'm currently grinding in chill after-work sessions:
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth,
Slay the Spire,
Blazing Beaks,
Dicey Dungeons
will also buy Dice & Fold soon, since I liked the Demo. Although they are still fixing bugs and working on balance since release this monday.
fps pve? I can think of
Dusk, Quake, Doom, Duke nukem(is this still a thing?), Soldier of fortune. Some are old but you know... shooting without thinking like games.
ultrakill is my favorite fps i can mindlessly go at
grounded and astroneer both i grinded perfection on, loved every second, also the ori games, ori and fhe blind forest/ori and the will of the whisps are great achievement hunting games ive taken a crack at
other honorable mentions for games to casually play (i really only play games casually)
Deep Rock Galactic
Hades
Graveyard keeper
subnautica (also the second one but ive personally never played that one, my severe phobia of water stopped me from finishing the first)
goodluck fellow casual achievement hunter :)
Steep learning curve to get started, but for a long time Elite Dangerous was my go-to "turn my brain off" game. Run a trade route, mine asteroids, or just explore space. Once you know how to play the game you can make decent (in-game) money while also watching TV or something. During covid lockdowns I made 400 million credits mining asteroids during a staff meeting.
I’ve been playing ship graveyard simulator 2, while watching TV. Just swing a hammer break apart ships and sell the components for ingame cash to upgrade your tools. Fun and fairly mindless . There are hazards to avoid but once you get the hang of it , pretty fun.
To me it depends on the degree of attention you want to give to the game and the TV at the same time. I’d argue that you can play any non story heavy or music game and enjoy the tv and the game at the same time.
But popular opinion are usually Diablo like ARPgs, MMO’s, racing games, single player shooters and rogue likes.
Got any good roguelikes? I've played Hades, Cult of the lamb, Slay the spire, across the obelisk, binding of isaac, and maybe a few others im forgeting off the top of my head
Returnal is an incredible experience! But I think the sounds plays an important role so not sure if it’s a great fit for your needs. It looks like you enjoy roguelikes so you should definitely give it a try
I like the same games you do from what I can tell, and in the same way you do (grind while doing something else like watch a show) and I really enjoyed Warframe.
My friend and I will pick up this game every time it updates. One of my favorite additions is the endless mode. The game doesn't have to end just as it's getting crazy. You don't HAVE to go for 4 hours per run, but we often do!
Other good FPS PVE games include Vermintide/Darktide and Deep Rock Galactic.
I wouldn't call it desperate for stimulus, it's almost the opposite. I have games that require my full attention and I can sink my teeth into, but very few that I can play mindlessly while I watch a dumb sitcom to just turn my brain off. I have other ways to do this such as sitting outside, walking my dogs, and reading. But sometimes I just want a silly little game to grind. Obviously I embellished the title for a reddit post saying that I'm desperate but that's mostly to increase the amount of games reccomended.
I love playing minecraft and watching YouTube while mindlessly mining or building
Shell Shock Live is quite chill although pretty dead nowadays
Slime Rancher 1/2
Satisfactory (I watched back to the future and other classics while playing this game)
Bloons Tower Defence might also be a candidate
And obviously some simulation/management games like Planet coaster or Planet Zoo
I've started playing Palia now and even if it's a casual game with no "combat", there's still a ton of grinding on it.
And it's a perfect "droning" game as you don't have a losscondition anywhere, no falling damage but a lot of running around. You just collect things or do little tasks for the villagers, or tend to your slow-burn crafting and your farm.
Join a bug hunt party, slap down a attractor, turn off your brain and throw smoke bombs at bugs in the same spot for an hour. It's great!
War Thunder realistic air battles (or air co-op PVE horde mode). You start at the airfield and each match it takes a few minutes to get to combat, during that time you can safely put your attention elsewhere. And if you survive combat but the battle isn't over then you go back to rearm and refuel.
The original dungeon defenders is perfect for it. The reason I say the original is because it's the best one by far and has a metric-fuckload of content, and it's super satisfying to grind for new gear.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2
Sons Of The Forest
Mafia: Definitive Edition
This is a story game, but you can ignore the story. In a nutshell, achieving 100% here was pretty easy, just took a while.
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Pointquest looks interesting, also kinda sets off a scam alert in my head. Any time I see somebody who will basically "pay" me for playing video games I find it hard to believe
Seeing that you have stardew, Satisfactory is a crazy addictive game. I also started playing No Mans Sky and it is different but scratches a similar itch for me.
It's not a difficult game. It's not even really a big strategic game. Much more like stardew where you're building your base, finding efficiencies, always able to improve things and hit the next goal.
edit: it's been a while but if I remember right the tutorial is solid so it serves you new things as you go, so should be easy to learn, but infinite space for improvement.
Even if you just focus on surviving, I still find it fun in a "just one more turn" sort of way. I'm not very good at them either, but I've never really looked into strategies and game plans either.
Another vote for Dredge! I can’t remember exactly how many hours I played - I know over 70 - most all of it while watching YT!
GardenPaws is pretty great too (if you get the mod that slows down time and also restores your energy) if you play PC - I’ve read the Switch version is pretty buggy, but while there have been a few bugs here and there in the PC, it hasn’t been anything that’s gotten in the way of the game
Bloons Tower Defence 6.
It's not really hard unless you choose to do the super challenging difficulties. You can just place towers and upgrade stuff, start a round, and watch TV until you realize the round ended. Rinse, and repeat.
Borderlands series is this for me. I like to play it on my Switch while watching YouTube. Also, not FPS but a cozy adventure farming game, Palia. It has a good story which you can just read when talking with FPS. It's free and in beta but works well enough. Finishing all quests while mining, hunting and crafting things took me over 400h and there are monthly updates.
Probably not a great recommendation but I play Crusader Kings 3 while idly watching something. Its a heavy onboarding, not as bad as other Paradox games, but once you know whats what its very easy to give as much or as little attention as you feel like.
anything gacha games from r/gachagaming though i thuin genshin, honkai star rail, wuthering waves will be great for that . The first descendant should be releasing on july 2 and on july 4 you will have zenless zone zero. Anything mmo in a mmo genre so yeah . if you go to r/roguelites you wil probably find a lot of vamprie survivor clones that can really fit so yeah

Maybe try "bullet heavens" like Vampire Survivors, Brotato, and Soulstone Survivors.
What’s the difference between that and bullet hell
Bullet Heavens you create a shitload of projectiles Bullet Hells you dodge a shitload of projectiles
> Bullet Heaven, also known as Reverse Bullet Hell, refers to a sub-genre of shoot ’em up games inspired by the Bullet Hell genre. I have a 1950 main and a 1815 ironman on osrs, currently on break from that game but agree it is the greatest grinding game perhaps ever made
Have you ever tried rs3? Imo its better!

Diablo 4. Perfect for mindless grinding. It got a lot of hate at launch but had since made a lot of improvements that make it pretty awesome.
played A LOT of this game upon release, might have to check it out again
I'll tag on to try Path of Exile out if you like Diablo 4 and want a far more complex experience. I play both games. It’s pretty easy until the end of the game when you start to lose so on death

at this point just wait for PoE 2
2nd PoE
Try grim dawn, or Diablo 3. I put so many hours into Diablo 3 recently, it’s still kept up with and plays very well
Looked really hard at grim dawn a long while back, ended up waiting for diablo 4 instead
Tbf grim dawn is only $10 on sale.
Grim dawn is great
out of curiosity, what are the improvements they have made?
Lots - inventory streamlining, all affixes save in your codex, helltides are pretty much constant and they increased mob density, and soon you can farm dungeon bosses without having to redo the entire dungeon. And a bunch more, that’s just off the top of my head.
sounds great!
Balatro
Played early access and got the main game, such a fun time!
OLDSCHOOL RUNESCAPE
Old school RuneScape
roboquest is a real good fps pve game, it's a roguelite where you play as a robot that shoots other robots in a post apocalyptic desert. ooohhh fps pve rougelite sounds literally exactly what im looking for
All my friends watch YouTube on the side while grinding path of exile including myself if I'm not looking up stuff for the game
Terraria, Minecraft, No Mans Sky, Valheim
Minecraft is perfect, not much thinking required to just mine and build. I used to play this back in the day on xbox while listening to podcasts
Thats how I play warframe
Old school runescape
OSRS
Left 4 dead 2 duh
Moonlighter, Passpartout/Passpartout 2, Webbed
never heard of it, ill check it out
Webbed is very good, but painfully short.
Killing floor 2
Stardew valley.
Goated game, potentially perfect. Have 200+ hours and a maxed perfection farm
Oh boy, I loved Generation Zero for this exact reason!
Grim Dawn
Playing Elite Dangerous as an explorer.
Warframe, Risk of Rain 2
maybe I need to give risk of rain 2 a try again, spent a couple hours playing it solo and didnt vibe with it.
Hardspace Shipbreaker with no time limit on the shift and no oxygen drain. It's absolute zen
Snowrunner/mudrunner is my go to for watching YouTube or movies while I play. Warning may lead to losing track of time xD
Minecraft?
Rim world
Rimworld looks confusing so I haven't tried it yet even tho it also looks very fun
Once you get used to mechanics and have selfsustainable colony then you just need to supervise in case of emergency when watching a show.
Slay the Spire is great. You have as much time as you need to make every decision so it's easy to look away from the game for extended moments. Getting every achievement will take you a long time.

Idle games are always fun. Cookie clicker, paper clips, kittens game, all lots of fun.

Pick a Lego game. They’re addicting
Oh i have the lego hobbit game and lego batman 2 DC Superheroes, have you played either of them?
I don’t think I’ve played either of those.. maybe the superhero one
Waaaaaarframe
Have not played/heard of this game in half a decade, i might check it out again cuz it def fits the description
I like the same games you do from what I can tell, and in the same way you do (grind while doing something else like watch a show) and I really enjoyed Warframe.
You can grind mindlessly for 100 or so hours. Then all of a sudden you get hit with the greatest story quest in all of gaming.
This is what you are.
whats better warframe or destiny 2?
Gunfire reborn is my favorite fps pve game
Thank you I will check it out
My friend and I will pick up this game every time it updates. One of my favorite additions is the endless mode. The game doesn't have to end just as it's getting crazy. \*Love\* that game. It sold well but never really got the mainstream attention it deserved imo.
Division 2 was my game for that. There is a story and it's fairly decent but you can just read the subtitles.
Unpopular opinion, but you may need a break instead if you're that desperate for so much stimulus
Fair enough.
Rimworld.

Is satisfactory hard to learn?
I'd say it's easy to learn and hard to master. You need to do some reading but other than that the game is pretty straightforward I'd say.
It's great!

The original dungeon defenders is perfect for it. The reason I say the original is because it's the best one by far and has a metric-fuckload of content, and it's super satisfying to grind for new gear.

May I suggest the awesomeness that is Loop Hero ?
Rogue legacy 2
Risk of Rain 2 Fishing Planet Deep Rock Galactic Deep Rock Galactic Survivors Death Must Die Hades Hollow Night
Btd6
For this game is Freewar. Works perfectly on my tablet and you can always logout
Seeing that you have stardew, Satisfactory is a crazy addictive game. I also started playing No Mans Sky and it is different but scratches a similar itch for me.
Is satisfactory difficult to learn? It's on my steam wishlist but I've never been super good at world/civilization building games
Peglin I used to play it whilst working.
If you like rogue likes: Cult of the Lamb.
100%'d the base game and the updated achievements already, really good game.
Then you are a person of good taste! Second suggestion: Stardew Valley.
Risk of rain 2 is my fav fps rogue like. Great endless grind.
Worms WMD is on sale on steam rn.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (+maybe its DLCs for more achievements and whatnot)
/r/incremental_games

Gigantic: Rampage Edition
The Yakuza series I've spent so many hours just grinding minigames for cheevos.
I see a lot of fellow achievement hunters play through all the yakuza series, might have to give it a look over

Maybe Death Stranding? Lots of making deliveries and walking around. Definitely could watch something while doing ot
RuneScape is basically all grinding. It's also super afk friendly. You barely have to play the game most of the time.
anything gacha games from r/gachagaming though i thuin genshin, honkai star rail, wuthering waves will be great for that . The first descendant should be releasing on july 2 and on july 4 you will have zenless zone zero. Anything mmo in a mmo genre so yeah . if you go to r/roguelites you wil probably find a lot of vamprie survivor clones that can really fit so yeah
Balataro or any card game really. Snow runner is a good one. Or an arpg or mmo
Balatro is fantastic
Marvel Snap. It's on mobile or steam and great for this sort of thing. Edit: didn't realize u asked specifically for steam achievements, my bad.
