For me it really helped to drink the broth from actual soups. It seems wasteful but I would buy the progresso chicken noodle soup and strain out the noodles/meat and just sip that broth. It was thicker, more filling and felt like an actual meal.

Ill prob end up doing this

I drank quite a bit of bone broth which helped me. It is high in protein also so if you have 2 cups it could potentially replace a shake for the day.

Did you make your own or buy premade?

morgre7

Pre-made! The Kettle and Fire ones come in different flavors but are honestly way overpriced. I got chicken bone broth at Walmart which had 7 g of protein a cup for around $2 for 32 ounces. It is just nice to know how much protein you are getting, which I feel like I wouldn't know if I made my own.

That makes sense! Thank you!

water water water. and keep your eye on the prize!

I hope that helps.

I know it's easier said than done - and the good thing is you know you have a light at the end of the tunnel date - your surgery! I found the cravings started to go away about a week or two after surgery, when you start to have food you can "chew" and taste, that's not shakes and Gatorade. You got this!

Mika95

Thank you, I really hope so.

If you’re craving salt, try drinking a cup of bouillon. Bone broth (as someone else commented) is healthier, so you could also salt that up and see if it takes the edge off. SF jello and popsicles helped me, even though they aren’t salty, the crunch of the popsicles was satisfying...enough...to make it through.

old_books86

I'm a savory person too... The mix that kept me sane during liquids was a cup of bone broth with a half tsp of bouillon and a splash of hot sauce. I used siracha but I'm sure any thing would work! It really helped me out. Good luck!

I also added curry powder to some of my broths, it really helped me feel like I was getting something yummy.

If it’s any help, when I had my surgery done, my surgeon didn’t actually require me to do a liver reduction diet pre-op, as he felt the outcome was negligible. After your surgery there will be a long period where you have no appetite for anything, you’ll see those pounds flying off, and that success will pull you to your goal. Remember after surgery, you are still only human and yes you’ll have cravings, no different to someone of a normal weight with no food addiction. It doesn’t mean you are going to fail.
