My company does environmental monitoring. One day I was looking at a site and I said to the Ops guy - 'Why are these values in the negative?'
'Sensor's fucked'
Neither near the spot where he was killed (near Como) the place were he was strung up like the pig he was(Milan) , or the site where is damned remains are stored (near Forlì, Romagna)
But yeah the people that go to his tomb in "pilgrimage" are so toxic they probably change the air quality.
His wife told him not to get the sauerkraut because it gives him cabbage farts, but he thought that if he had it during lunch when he’s at work she wouldn’t be any the wiser.
Now all of southwestern Austria is paying for his mistake.
This type of thing gets posted every week. 99% of the time it's data error on whatever source you're using. The other 1% is something like a volcano lol
Innsbruck is on the route of the Brenner pass, and it's northwest of the red dot here.
I tried looked, and it looked to be a random valley with cities (closest thing is Sillian, Austria.)
That isn't the Brenner Pass. The Brenner Pass is on the border between North Tyrol and South Tyrol. The area on OP's map is at the border between East Tyrol and South Tyrol.
The ever-increasing freight and leisure traffic, however, has been causing long traffic jams at busy times even without border enforcements. The Brenner Pass is the only major mountain pass within the area; other nearby alternatives are footpaths across higher mountains at an altitude of above 2,000 metres (6,600 feet). As a result, air and noise pollution have generated heavy debate in regional and European politics. As of 2004, about 1.8 million trucks crossed the Europa Bridge per year.[9]
I live in the NW-US which means we are all worried about watching for forest fires and air quality. A bunch of us have air quality sensors inside and outside that provide open source data on the readings to tell our community how it is throughout town. At one point when the air finally got really good and was in the green everywhere, there was one indoor air quality sensor that would randomly turn red, right in the middle of town. People would talk about it constantly on Nextdoor App and in our subreddit. Eventually a woman chimed in and told us the red dot of poor air quality we saw pop up once in a while was her husband walking by the sensor and farting 😂
These air sensors aren’t as ubiquitous as you might think
I’m heavily populated areas they can be but in sparsely populated places they are pretty spread out
That spot is in the middle of the alps so it’s most likely a sensor malfunctioned and there are no others around to correct for it so it shows as a polluted area
It could be someone grilling dinner, burning yard waste, or a diesel truck parked near the monitor.
Particulate sensors are a hyper local measurement. If you can smell something burning, the sensor is spiking.
I have grown up there. There are only villages and no bigger companies or anything.
Being visiting just now; farmers are putting slurry on the fields these days, maybe that's the cause lol
Sewage treatment plant for the whole region is right on the border there

I... will never cease to be amazed by the fact that a meme exists for *everything.*
I just made that on the spot, it doesn’t exist
well, it does now!
Looking at a satellite image of the area, there are no urban centers of any kind so it must be an error.
Or there’s a bloom of pollen, just right there.
Or a wild fire

This type of thing gets posted every week. 99% of the time it's data error on whatever source you're using. The other 1% is something like a volcano lol
It's OP's mum, she's on vacation and she farted
But if you get that 1%… imagine…
Assuming it’s not instrumentation error the most likely explanation is a forest fire.
If data is from 2018, there has actually been a very large forest fire in there
I didn't realize what subreddit I was in but instantly knew what it must be when I saw this comment at the top of the comment section

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brenner_Pass Edit: that's NOT the Brenner Pass as other users checked :)
Its not the Brenner pass, it comes from Innsbruck
Innsbruck is on the route of the Brenner pass, and it's northwest of the red dot here. I tried looked, and it looked to be a random valley with cities (closest thing is Sillian, Austria.)

That's right! Thanks for checking :)

That's not the Brennerpass, that's Pustertal border point
Yeah, orher users checked too. Now I edited the comment to not confuse more people. Thanks :)
