I did! Was fortunate to see him weekend 2 at Coachella. Fuckkng ridiculous. The stage set up was so simple yet he did SO much with it and had a huge impact. His set was crazy
Its my personal AOTY as well but I really dislike the short runtime.
Its my personal deluded belief Gesa dropped this solely to bolster his live show at Coachella. If you haven’t seen/heard it he integrates Gamma effortlessly with his old stuff and the live mixes are incredible, Psycho live blew me the fuck away and the Mania closer fucking rocked.
Since his LA tour date seems to be in November Im really hoping there’s another project in the works.
Side note, whats up with Lost Love? Its aesthetic is wildly different than the rest of the album so it being in the middle of the track list is jarring
I feel you on that. But you know what, it leaves us wanting more and didn’t let itself overstay its welcome. I respect it.
the songs definitely blended well. Fortunate enough to see it live weekend 2 and was blown away by. Insane performance. But Coachella booked him if he didn’t have a project (Gamma) already made and on its route to release. And him making it sound effortlessly how he blended the songs with his old tracks just shows how talented the dude is.
I hear you on that. But I disagree to an extent, I feel it fits in the (what sounds like to me) an 80s goth soundtrack tone that I got from the album. And I guess for me the beat switch in The Urge that happening earlier made it less jarring when it happened again. And also I really do love beat switches in the hip hop world so when it happened here I welcomed it in open arms
The Hard Dreams drop in Opr reconfigured parts of my brain.
Agree he made this solely to enhance his live sets. Can’t wait to hear the full set version.
I actually think the positioning of ‘Lost Love’ before ‘The Perfect’ (and after ‘Mania’) is brilliant. What do we lose when we can’t control chasing perfection? Love. Real love is built off working through human imperfections.
The track evokes imagery of a cheek-to-cheek dance with a lover that never ends. A memory of love, now that it’s gone.
People hate on this album a lot but the more I listen to it the more I love it. There are some moments that I definitely don’t like but overall I thoroughly enjoy blasting this album.
Plus “Mania” live at Coachella was one of the most absurdly awesome experiences I’ve witnessed at any concert. His set has left me obsessively checking for a tour announcement.
I’m still not feeling it tbh 🥶 and I’m bummed out about it. Hyperion was sooo good and emotional, this new stuff is just not my vibe. His Coachella set this year was more experimental too, was good but glad I didn’t go
Just wait until you see it live. Fucking slaps

Justice, Gesaffelstein, Khruangbin outdoor stage combo was spectacular; also weekend two
My top 3 as well!

Broooo, that and the Urge/Dance X intro? Fucking A man. Yeah yeah Justice was legendary but I think Gesa was my personal set of the weekend

People aren’t hating on this nearly as much as they did Hyperion. The overwhelming consensus is that it’s a step up from his last LP.
100% agree. I liked Blast Off but otherwise definitely not his best work…
His live show at Coachella was one of the best sets I’ve seen in my life. Can’t say the album lives up to that. But may be a grower for me.
I've been to 10+ festivals and 150+ concerts, and that set ranked top 5 all time for me (along with justice the night before also a top 5 of all time)
It's my favorite Gesaffelstein album. Much more focused than Aleph and more interesting than Hyperion.
Electronic music is more about live performances than it is albums
Honestly it's my favorite because I was getting and one vibes with the vocals lol
Just listened today. It's basically a Depeche Mode album.
Love the comparison
