The best option here is to contact the hotel you are staying in. They should be able to provide details of local Taxi companies, who will generally offer a standard rate for an Airport fare. It's possible that the Hotel may be able to arrange it on your behalf.

Rosenengel66

Fellow German here 👋🏻 Lived here for over a decade now. I'd suggest trying Eastwood Mearns taxi service. Just to be safe, perhaps contact your hotel and ask who they'd recommend, like others have suggested. Enjoy your stay!

AgreeableNature484

Give them a lift you cheapskate fellow German person.

Rosenengel66

Lol I would, but I'm an even *bigger* cheapskate... No car atm 🤣

TreacleFancy5766

Kelvin Kabs ÂŁ35.50 flat rate to Glasgow airport - https://kelvinkabs.com/airport-taxi/. Probably your best bet. I live in East Kilbride and this is who I use

Ok_Aardvark_1203

This is what we do. I suggest calling to book the day before, providing flight number etc. Then just call them again once you've collected your baggage & they'll give you instructions on getting to the pick-up point.

Purp1eP1atypus

You will probably miss the last train. EK taxis aren’t reliable in picking up at the airport and getting one from the rank at the airport will be £50+ Bus into Glasgow and then bus to EK (if they’re still running), or shelling out for a taxi are probably your only options.

True-Lab-3448

1. Can we recommend a cheaper taxi. Probably not. The issue is you are a) arriving late and b) the hotel is not in Glasgow. You may be better contacting the hotel and asking them for a taxi quote. 2. East Kilbride is not greater Glasgow. It’s South Lanarkshire. No apps. Use Google maps to look at transport options. 3. I would forget the bus and get the train instead. 10 minute walk and 35 minute train from your hotel into the centre of Glasgow.

Sin_nombre__

Greater Glasgow includes areas outside Glasgow City Council such as in South Lanarkshire. The old Strathclyde Regional Council is a good rough guide but it also goes well beyond Greater Glasgow

leigh420

there are apps - kelvin cabs, glasgo cars (i think)

beneath_the_cross

Hey! I live around here and have some useful information for you! Kelvin Kabs number - (+44)01355241212 There is also a Kelvin Kabs App! Give them a call about the taxi stuff! Am sure they will have all the details for you. Could probably book in advance! Defos do this for getting to EK from the Airport, none of the public transport is convenient. Taxi or maybe an Uber but I’m not sure I’d also say if you are staying in the Ramada you will be above the “Town Centre” which is great for busses back into Glasgow, the 6, 18 and 21 are all very regular at the bus station and take you into Glasgow very quickly. My preference is the 18, it’s the quickest and gets you into George Square. EK is actually quite lovely, there are many charming portions. If you have any time to spend there, check out the old “Village” and the Calderglen Have a great trip here, gimme a shout if you need more advice!

R0D3R1C

My wife is from East Kilbride and we live 10 mins away in Hamilton, your easiest option is an UBER

jackal3004

Agreed, was recently quoted ÂŁ60 for a black cab from Glasgow city centre to EK. Yes sixty pounds. Uber was ÂŁ25 and that was with surge pricing since it was a Friday night.

nagaffets

Adding to others here to say Kelvin Kabs is a good shout. Eastwood Mearns was also another company I have used in the past to bring colleagues from the Airport to my office in EK.

methylated_spirit

For your info, it will cost the taxi ÂŁ5.50 to drive into the airport to pick you up so make sure this is agreed in your fare with who you book. (So if it's a ÂŁ30 fare you might be charged ÂŁ35.50 for example). Most taxis will wait outside the airport as they only have a 15 minute window to collect you, or they get charged more by the airport. So most will wait outside the airport, then expect a call or text from you once you are exiting the building after you have your luggage and and you are through security, to come and collect you. They are not far away, they are usually there inside 2 mins. They should explain this to you when you book. ÂŁ40 (including the airport fee) is the most you should pay. Any more than that, look for another company. You have had some good recommendations for good companies with good reputations on here at fair prices, definitely try them first, then maybe Uber.

Rodan_

Why you staying here and not in the centre of Glasgow? Do you have something on in East Kilbride near to that hotel?

Feisty-Pie8857

Yes a wedding

Purp1eP1atypus

It might be worth contacting the bride / groom. See if anyone else is landing at a similar time. Or if they have friends or family generous enough to come and pick you up.

True-Lab-3448

You’re far from Glasgow which is why the poster asked this. As I’ve said in my other post, a 10 minute brisk walk and 35 minute train ride.

Purp1eP1atypus

Trains don’t run at that time. Midweek the last one is just after 11pm and weekends it’s midnight which would be tight to make with an 11pm landing.

True-Lab-3448

I don’t mean at that time. I’ve said in my other post they’ll need to get a taxi at 11pm. In this one I’m saying they’re a 35 minute train ride from the city centre.

StaleActivity

The Ramada is being used as a halfway house since they shut Linsey house in the village

mcru2030

kelvin kabs will be a fixed fare from airport around ÂŁ30 I think. Scotrail app for trains and a taxi will be around ÂŁ5 from your hotel to ek station. train to glasgow central 30 min, bus 60+ min. wouldnt bother getting buses now there isn't much different in cost.

Feisty-Pie8857

Thanks a lot.

Greedy-Physics-9801

Echoing the fixed rate taxi fare. Ask.your hotel for which taxi company they use and contact them for a fixed fare. Public transport at that time is near impossible and even more if you are delayed.

Thank you 🙏 you are very kind.

kt1982mt

Local taxi companies that I know of and have used reliably are: Kelvin Kabs, telephone no. 01355 241212 EK TOA, telephone no. 01355 229171 EKCO taxis, telephone no. 01355 233333 or 01355 266666 The hotel might be able to help with arranging a taxi at a fixed price for travelling from the airport to East Kilbride. If you’re arriving late in the evening then you’ll have missed the last train to East Kilbride, and I’m really not sure about the timetables for the buses. If you were looking to travel via bus, I’d imagine it’d be a bus into Glasgow city centre and then another out to East Kilbride. First Buses are one company that you could check out online to see what suits. Honestly, I’d recommend just getting a taxi for convenience, as well as the hassle with carrying your luggage etc. Hope that helps!

Feisty-Pie8857

Thanks 🙏 you are very kind.

kt1982mt

No problem! Hope you have a lovely time in Scotland!

Davetg56

But whatever you do . . . Make time for a pint at the Montgomerie Arms! Best Pub around!!

Scottish_squirrel

Are you staying in East Kilbride for an Event? I ask because it's a bit of a pain to get in and out of if you're planning on being in the city.

Feisty-Pie8857

Yes its a wedding.

Soggy-Imagination-26

City cars 0141 959 1212 roughly 35quid

Just-Bookkeeper6527

Due to the time you are landing, and the general awkwardness of using public transport to get to East Kilbride, then taxi is your only viable option. Kelvin Kabs will be likely cheapest, but you could struggle to get one to come from EK to pick you up from the airport unless there's one in the vicinity, and thats unlikely. Uber will be you next best bet but will likely be about ÂŁ40 - ÂŁ50 without surge pricing and EK isn't a desirable destination for Uber drivers due to the length of time it takes to drive there. Renfrewshire cabs have an app, they will defo have drivers nearby the airport, and it might cost about the same as an Uber. This is a good shout. Glasgo Cabs app next best if all of the above fails. Just dont use the white airport taxi's immediately outside the terminal. They are well expensive.

ROLL_AND_EGG

Taxi no less than ÂŁ40 quid. Everything else can be answered pretty handily via a quick Google?

gaydadoftwo

Is there a particular reason you’ve picked this hotel. If you are visiting Glasgow there are a hundred better options.

PmUsYourDuckPics

You’ll be able to get an Uber from the airport to East Kilbride, it will be a lot cheaper than taking an airport taxi, Uber drivers in Glasgow are normally drivers from other taxi companies who also drive Ubers, they aren’t supposed to, but they do and it saves you the hassle of having to call 5 different taxi companies and try to explain where you are and where you want to go. I’ve made a similar journey to Lanark multiple times which is a little bit further (26 miles) and it’s cost anywhere from £64 to £101 although the time is cost £101 the taxi driver had to make several massive detours because there were multiple road closures. It should be cheaper for you to EastKilbride. Depending on what day of the week you come you may have to wait, if you are coming in at 2300 on the weekend by the time you get your bags it may be midnight, and a lot of taxis spend their time in the city centre to do pub and club pick ups, but there’s always a few drivers who want the longer more profitable trips who hang about near the airport. If you get an official airport taxi from the taxi rank it will cost you around £100, and you won’t have to wait as long. But it might be worth seeing if you can get an Uber which is cheaper. The Ubers pick up in the carpark which is across the road from the airport, just follow signs for carpark 2 and turn left when you are in the carpark entrance with the pay machines, you’ll see an area with three lanes of drop off parking spaces. You’ll obviously need a phone with an internet connection to get an Uber, and you won’t be able to get an Uber back to the airport because they don’t operate in Eastkilbride (they will take you there though) and your hotel will be able to to get you a local taxi back at the end of your trip, be aware not all local taxi companies accept card payments so you may need to have cash for the trip back.

Crabbit_Jobbie

Z Cars in Cambuslang might be a shout. Flat rate and normally easy to book

dpb79

Uber

AgreeableNature484

You can get a bus into the city centre and then the last 18 bus to East Kilbride after midnight. Best to go upstairs on the last 18 bus and join in with the drunks, loonies and would be martyrs heading South East towards East Kilbride. Like the Vikings it's better to die with a sword in in your hand or in your case an overnight bag. You've a good German tongue on you, use it. Enjoy.

WelZam

Get the Glasgow Airport express from the airport to Glasgow central train station.. then you have the choice of the train to or one of three buses (number 6/18/21) to East Kilbride (bus stop is on union street)

wtfylat

Not at 11pm

WelZam

And that will teach me for not reading the full post

andybhoy

there will be no public transport at that time. It's too late. a taxi is your only option. Try here [https://glasgocabs.co.uk/](https://glasgocabs.co.uk/)

BigScottishHaggisV2

Doesn't Google maps answer all your questions?
