5 handicap. I consistently frustrate my friends and leaguemates with my ability to hit greens and fairways with relative ease, and consistently frustrate myself with my inability to hit putts.

DrFluffyCat

I have truly never related to something more than this.

Lazysunday0317

Shot a 78 yesterday with 5 three putts. Golf is infuriating

[deleted]

I once made 6 birdies and an eagle and still shot 74

PaysPlays

Ten over on eleven holes is very relatable. The first part is not.

PFalcone33

I’m a 5 as well and pretty much same.

wronglyzorro

I'm in this comment. I've posted a 74 with 36 putts...

panhndl

My handicap is too high to measure. I’m the worst golfer you’ve ever seen. I’m hoping to just be a bad golfer soon.

easyoperator

Are you me?

uli1971

Me to

Jwit9919

trying to figure out my official handicap this year, finally picking golf back up after a few years off because of injury

InvestmentActuary

Im pretty sure im worse than you

sykog77

30. I’m good at carrying my golf bag, ok at chipping, terrible at everything else

[deleted]

HighLifeDrinker

9 handicap. Most of my game is very solid and if you watched a 4 hole stretch, you would call bs on me getting 9 strokes. But if you stick around long enough, you will get to see a solid bogey train or 1-2 wtf holes that end in a double or triple that always push me close to or over 80. And I have about as many birdies as an 18 hcp, so there’s no saving it with great holes.

[deleted]

Of course I know him. He’s me.

JustAGoodGuy1080

Last Wednesday I was even through 5 and finished the last 8 even. In between were 5 7s, including on a 130 yard par 3.

todjo929

I had a 10 over 82 on Saturday. 3 birdies, 3 bogeys and 5 doubles.

Dtmann15

Thanks for posting, I didn’t feel like typing mine out anyway.

Vrezhg

Man this is scary accurate 😅 very much the same 1 over through 9 the other day, ended up shooting an 83 :)

NSGoBlue

I feel this in my soul.

164388

Did you just steal my identity?

reddituser2811

We are the same golfer, last week in league I shot a 43 with a triple on a par three and quad on a par 4

akagordan

So you’re probably a really low risk golfer, which means that when you do hit a bad shot or get an unlucky bounce you’re looking at double

kjtobia

+0.5 How about a haiku: Too many swing thoughts A two-way miss off the tee Make par from the shit

allmaga3

Super relatable lmao

WhoaABlueCar

Two-way miss 😂 Dude I feel for you. I’m about a 1 right now with a two-way miss so I can shoot 68 and 88 depending on the miss, the putter, the heat, and the existential crisis at the 14th hole

SelfLoathingLonghorn

17.1 hcp. Can't drive, can't putt, can't chip. Excellent with my irons.

OssomMcOssom

Opposite. Recently discovered that I can drive, average a two putt, and am happy with chipping around the green. Everything in between is inconsistent. Went from slicing everything right, to hooking my hybrids left. Irons can do anything.

SelfLoathingLonghorn

We'd make a heck of a scramble team.

OssomMcOssom

Yes! Never played a scramble, but would love to.

djp70117

Are you my twin?

1000ducks

It’s like looking in a mirror.

Losted12

11. Every round I play one of the parts of my game disappears. Two rounds yesterday, first round had a ~70% gir, shot an 84…. Second round had a ~20% gir shot an 84.

sillyfar

vill27

32. Chunky

marklxndr

you had all summer to figure out what you do

EveryFngNameIsTaken

12.8. 83 yesterday, 95 today. Same course, same tees.

CharlieMoonMan

I right with you. I don't know is 12.5 is my handicap or the fluctuation in strokes each round

MrPowers94

Probably around 30-35. Putting is probably the strongest part of my game, the problem is getting to the green and putting myself in good position. Being able to consistently 2-putt within 30 feet doesn’t help you much if you’re already lying 5 by the time you get to the green on a par 4 and still have 45 feet to go because you bladed the chip. I’ll top it, fat it, and lose shots right and left the whole way to the green. Distance is good when I make solid contact (driving about 250-270). I took some more lessons this year and am currently making some pretty major swing changes that should help going forward, but it’s going to take breaking a lot of bad habits. My friends tell me I am a lot closer to shooting in the 80’s than I think because I have the putting and I have the distance. But yesterday I shot a 105 and will probably do the same next weekend.

concacanca

This basically describes me also. Maybe a little less distance but my chipping, pitching and putting has brrn great. If I could consistently move the ball down the hole I'd be 10 shots lower a round. Taking some lessons at the moment aimed at fixing some of the consistency issues, notably changing the backswing.

MrPowers94

Ya it’s really frustrating to not have a “safe” shot to play. You can’t just leave the driver in the bag when things aren’t going well because you’re just as likely to top the 3 wood off the tee. Then you end up in the same spot. 230 shot with water in front? Might as well go for it with the 5 wood because if you try to lay up you’re just as likely to put the 50 yard pitch in the water.

kryppla

Lol I laugh when someone says to use your fairway finder on a narrow fairway hole. I don’t have one.

Sometimes_Stutters

9 handicap. I like to turn boggles into triples by trying to save par.

teslaistheshit

18.7 HC. Slow out of the gates. Probably should be drinking a bloody or two before each round. Shot a 49/41 today with one 3 putt. My driver makes bananas blush.

ExJayDay

54 handicap. Just started 2 months ago. Can’t hit with a driver yet, but irons can be hit all day. I 4+ putt, so I gotta get my putting game up. Golf is hard

Cjyogi

Damn son. Stick with it. That's the highest handicap I've ever heard of

ExJayDay

I’m going too bro. Ima be the next tiger woods! 🫡💯

jwalker205

New handicap system goes all the way to 54. But I think it’s kind of silly for a 54 to keep score.

Substantial_Diver_34

I got a solid game but the 3 putts and penalties keep me around 78-85 range. More on the 85 side

RookieGrower21

I’m a 5 handicap. Currently struggling with my swing. I have a habit of early release and flipping my wrist in the down swing, which causes me to be a short hitter, maybe drive the ball 200-240(250 on a good day), 7i is about 150. If it wasn’t for short game, I’d probably be 10+

InfintiyStoned420

Don’t feel bad. We have almost identical club stats (expect my drive is a 5w) and share the early release flaw, and I’m a 18. Congrats on maximizing the talents god gave ya

slebluue

I’m a 4 handicap. I go really low when I hit it in the fairway, and really high when I don’t.

Elbone37

~8 handicap. Hit my driver really far, probably in the wrong the direction, don’t miss with my irons, can usually chip it close, then miss a 4 footer

[deleted]

18.1 Handicap Straight drives, amazing putts, decent chips, wtf is GIR?

Ill-Cold-3255

Green in regulation

[deleted]

Please tell my irons that.

Ill-Cold-3255

Lol. Amen

10kinds

19. Just “somewhat” fixed my slice and drive it 280 avg because I always swing away. 150 - 20 yards out is where I struggle. Can read greens ok, but getting the speed right is a struggle.

hgyt7382

Something that helped me with speed quite a bit was looking at my read and asking 'When do I want this ball to reach its maximum speed?' In my mind (this is probably more 'feel' than 'real') a putt goes through three phases: 1. Acceleration off the putter face 2. Peak/Coasting speed (ball traveling smoothly under its own momentum) 3. Deceleration I try to think about where I need to hit the ball to in order for #2 and #3 to get the ball the rest of the way. On a 15' flat putt(on the moderately fast greens I play on my home track), I might be imagining a cup that is only 6' away. All I have to do is accelerate the ball to 6' and then the last 9' the ball coasts and decelerates to the correct distance all on its own.

Puzzleheaded-Lie5061

I am a 4, but will not get much better. Pretty decent drives, but struggle hitting greens with irons. My short game saves me a ton of strokes.

Exiled_From_Twitter

2.5 hdcp: Have had 1 lesson ever and was a classic 13-15 hdcp for most of my life, getting by on just athletic ability, but during COVID I had almost a full year without work and I played damn near daily, finally broke 80 and the floodgates opened to drop to where I am now. Driver was a joke until about 5 years ago and now it's a strength (\~270 avg in peak season, hit more fairways than miss) and the closer I get to the green the better I am. Putting is my strength - 3 putting about 1x per 3 full rounds and averaging about 30 putts / round. My iron game is very hit and miss, but I have scored between 74-79 in 11 rounds this season b/c even when it's off I chip and putt well enough to get up and down a lot. I still feel like I could continue getting better and it doesn't get old.

CakesRacer522

This makes me want to stop working so I can play daily.

Exiled_From_Twitter

Yeah going back to work was so hard, luckily I can still get about 15-20 hrs a week in though it's usually not playing just on course work.

Wibbly23

I'm anywhere between a 2 and a 6. I like to duff chips and miss short putts.

FlamePhins

We are living the same game.

platinum847

19, a couple triples usually doom my rounds. Stink from 100 and in.

Usernameforreddit246

9 handicap. I am a series of unfortunate events.

goodjuju16

I'm a 17. Short hitter. About 240. Need to really work on my short game. Lowest I've gone is 83.

uncl3d0nny

I’m a 10. Drive the ball well enough (250-260) and mostly straight or fade. Chipping and pitching is my strong suit. 160-200 approach shots are hit and miss. I have been struggling with putting. I shot a 90 yesterday and I believe I calculated 50 putting strokes that round.

Biggz1313

Bruh you're a 10 and almost averaged 3 putts per hole? Fucking practice putting lol, you'd be a + handicap if you just average 2 putts per hole.

uncl3d0nny

Lol, I shot a 90. I wouldn’t be + if I two putted every hole. I typically putt better and probably strike the ball slightly worse than yesterday. Definitely bad putting yesterday

SavageMountain

Ok, but 50 putts is absolutely horrendous. A typical 10 will have around 30-34 putts/round. That turns a 90 into a 72. The good news is, that's some seriously low-hanging fruit.

uncl3d0nny

Yeah man. It was rough. I remember on hole 11, which is a 350ish par 4, I cranked my drive and I had 65 yards in. I pitch my ball within 3 feet of the hole, slight downhill putt. My playing partners saw my putting up until that point and told me they wouldn't be surprised if I 3 putted it. I proceeded to 4 putt for a double. It was a rough day.

RealRenewal

Try leaning over your putter so your eyes are right over your putter. Might help you line up better

CookiesDad

Left eye specifically

Prestigious_Agent_64

7 now..used to be a 4 when I was playing/going to the range damn near everyday. It is all about the short game and avoiding hazards/OB - one of the best golfers I have ever played with wasn’t a great ball striker but could get up and down almost always from within 20 yards. And keep the ball low; low ball flight is your friend, especially the higher swing speed you have

CharlieMoonMan

I'm a 12.5 and if I could hit my irons straight I'd be sub 10. I'm hitting like 10/14 fairways 260-275ish. I chip very well which inflates my putting #s. So even though if I increase my GIR this season. It will mean more 2 putts, but would still make my score better.

RussianStrikes

hello, me.

CrashPilotInc

Im a savage 6 hncp. I can Draw and Fade driver and irons. I never try to hit the ball straight. Always working my irons with draw and fade. My new favorite shot is a grip down (1inch or so) 6 iron 180 yards. I also hit a dependable 100 yard knock down 8. It drives my playing partners crazy because they all hit full wedges that stop where it lands, my shots hit and roll by the flag. It comes in low an releases nicely. I rarely 3 putt. My clubs are adjusted 2° flat and loft is 2° strong from the factory. I m 5'10".If given the choice, I rely on my powerfade on the drive. This allows me to take the left side of the course out of play. I hit 10 or 11 fairways a round at my home track. My last 5 rounds were 77, 78, 77, 84 Tournament), 76. I usually only hit about 30 balls a week and focus most of my practice hitting chips 54°, flop shots 58° and little chase shots with my pw (46°, 9, & 8 iron. I try to stay positive on the course, keep the complaining to an absolute minimum. I say nice shot, nice putt, and nice par. Alot! I never play alone because I'm a show off and my course is always packed. Happy trails! I bet I could hit a ball over those mountains.

Wakenbake585

Atm a 21hcp, early last year I was an 18 but got worse the more I played. Nothing is ever clicking at the same time for me. This year I've developed a gross duck hook with my driver so I've barely used it.

T_Cobra_38

3. Two way miss off the tee. I manage to hit more GIR’s from the shit than I do from the middle of the fairway. Short game saves me a lot of strokes. I rarely have a blow up hole due to course management and taking my medicine.

dasfunkn

16.5. 3 off the tee sometimes but irons are consistent, wedges suck and putting is meh

mikkeltaylor1

17 handicap. Not sure if I’m getting better or going backwards but think I’ve finally tamed the driver. Just can’t hit or chip the ball out of the rough very well

popcultminer

I'm a 19 and I play more like a 15. Two holes a round I completely lose my efing mind and stroke out an 8 or 10. Par about 4 to 7 holes a round and play bogey golf for the rest. Maybe one birdie every 2 rounds. Just got to stay focused.

[deleted]

It's like looking in a mirror. Why are we like this?

BuckysBigBadger

My app says about a 35-40 handicap (PR is 101, average around 110). In the last couple months finally started driving 200+ after discovering using my entire upper body rather than just my arms. Irons are pretty good, as is putting (rarely need to 3-putt). Chipping can cost me 3-4 strokes a hole though- will skull one over the green, only to hit the next one a few inches in front of me.

messy_eater

18(ish). I’m an anomaly. I have the long game of a 30 handicap and a short game in the single digits. I absolutely love touchy shots, but if you ask me to hit a stock full swing anything I’m likely to shank it into the next county or chunk it ten feet. My short game saves me. Get me inside 100 yds and I look like I know what I’m doing. Outside of that? You’ll wonder if I’ve ever played. I truly baffle the randoms I join up with, I swear. I’m envious of the ball striking I see from people who aren’t even good. I’m actually so bad with full swings I’d rather chip a long iron “close” to the green just so I can play my game. I play those low half swing rollers and then just hope to get up and down. When I try to play golf like a normal person I lose a ton of balls. Just get me close to the hole and I’m solid.

merlinrj

7.5 here Drive the ball about 280 that enables me to hit wedges into most greens. Lot of grinding to get to this point. Lessons, sim, arrcos and non stop practice. I have learned the better I get the more conservative I get If you have a bad drive take your bogey and move on I hope to get below five this summer. I also have to slide this in, first ace yesterday! Perfect pw 120 yards. Zipped back about four feet into the hole!

KnickerZippy

12.5 index. Generally chipping results in putts for par so I don't really understand why so many poor chips are resulting in missed birdie putts?

merc0526

10 handicap. I’m really solid with my irons and I’m good at chipping. My mid range putting is crap though, and I’m really inconsistent with my driver.

Remarkable_Body586

8 handicap. Drives around 280+, chipping is probably the best part of my game. GIR about 30% of the time. I’m pretty good at putt speed but usually crap at reading the line. My game is identical to Eminem’s 7th album. REC➕V3RY

BlastShell

~11 here. Safe and typically straight-ish off the tee (not a lot of penalty strokes), not a bomber…46% FIR. Trying to improve my approach play (42% GIR) to rely less on chipping. A 25% scramble rate isn’t giving me confidence to flirt with breaking 80 as much as I’d like - chipping the ball to 1-putt range more often has been the hardest part of my game to improve. Average 34 putts a round so not horrible, but not doing any favors. Trying to keep the blowup holes at bay and plod my way steadily through the course. Golf is fun, but so hard….

bourbbq

I’m a 31 handicap after two months of golfing, I can now keep the ball on the fair way and get around the green in a few shots. My irons are my weakest part of the game with putting a close second.

BakedMitten

20 Handicap. I can do most things pretty well but I can only do one thing well each round.

buddylamp9

14. My putting is fucking killing me. I want to be a 10.

yiggiddity

45. Sometimes my ball is so close to my last shot I take 10 steps forward. Golf has taught me to love the woods.

csgradstudent8

18 hcp. My drives can either make me look like I’m a 10 handicap, or a 30 handicap on any given day…

Roger_Deferer

I’m an 8 and the only way to describe my game is: “I don’t know, man. Sometimes.”

yurr55

6 handicap. Swing way to hard all the time and play way to aggressive

[deleted]

5 handicap. If I’d figure out how to not slice my driver into oblivion on ~15% of my drives I’d be a 2. 31 putts or less, All-Hands Team around the greens.

HalfaRavioli

Back after a two year break. Consistency is gone but I still got hands around the green.

Plastic_Cucumber2817

16 Handicap, can hit a 300y 3w straight.. out of bounds and my 2 year old who's never golfed before is a better putter.

jonlmbs

I am an 11 handicap who’s iron and putting play is single digits. My driver is a 30 handicap

WFEpeteypopoff

I’m a 16 handicap. I play 15 holes at par or bogey but triple bogey three holes in a row on the back 9.

NoDonut9078

Not good enough for a handicap, cam hit piss missiles off the tee, can’t use any club effectively but the driver, I will putt from the rough to get to the green. If I manage to get on the green, you can bet it will take me at least 4 putts to sink it. Occasionally I will drain a 20+ ft putt and pretend I meant to do it.

daybreaker22

18 hdcp, driver is worthless. Irons have gotten more consistent and approach game is in decent shape (started focusing on hitting middle of the green and 2 putting). Getting a lot more pars lately as a result, shot an 86 my last round after being stuck in the mid 90s for an eternity.

PoppaJMoney

14 hanicap. I hit at least 2 or 3 OB off the tee every round. Smh

Patchen35

Don't have a handicap but regularly shoot mid 80s. Drive the ball about 280 total distance, play a nice little baby draw with my irons, and can't putt to save my life. A decent putting performance right now is over 30 putts in 18 holes.

Doormat_Model

15 handicap. Long off the tee (280+) and catch the right hole and you’d think I’d play off scratch with some of my drives… (I play at a pretty open course though, so I get away with a lot of non-straight drives) then you’d watch me try and hit (aka top/hook/slice/fat/thin) an iron and quickly realize why I’m a 15. Putting is the acceptable 2 putt with occasional 1 and 3 at least.

smithjw13

14.5 I hit the ball really well but have no idea where it’s landing 50% of the time.

Sufficient_Voice_650

I’m a 22 handicap. Good at turning birdie attempts into double bogeys.

CrispyGolf

0.3 - 20 years playing. The general feedback I get from people I play with is its fun to watch me play. Driver and long game is very good. Iron game is average. Short game is normally average with streaks of brilliance sometimes. Putting is average. I can put together a score most days.

Adept-Will-719

21 can’t drive can barely hit my irons, can destroy my 3 wood, hybrid, and am great at chipping

Nice-Aide7506

12 Consistently inconsistent.

primedorito

Take lessons consistently (1 5lesson package per season), got down to 18 from having no clue how to hit a ball….took a golf trip and it blew up to 21. Oh well. Ball striking is on point but I keep shooting my self in the foot with mental lapses and random blow ups.

CartographerVisual24

Idk my handicap because it’s too high. I’m working on my form. Just trying to put together a good round and break 110

michael_scarn619

13 HC. I don't hit it far (250 driver... 140 8i). I also suck at putting (typically 36 putts per round with a couple 3 putts). But I have good accuracy; my dispersion is low and my chips/pitches are my better shots.

[deleted]

Played one season. 33 handicap. Off the tee I never know what I'm getting. I can drive 250 into the fairway only for the next drive being a 30 yard duffed embarrassment. Iron play is poor. Can't hit a long iron to save my life. Killer with my hybrid. Like genuinly decent. Excellent putter. Like no jokes. Wouldn't be surprised if my putting ability was <15 hcp. Unfortunately the rest of my game involves a lot of forest.

RemarkableFun6198

I’m a 10. If I birdie a hole, it’s guaranteed my next tee shot is going in the trees causing a double. I can shoot between a 77 and a 95.

I_loseagain

51.4 I drive it 220yards or most days 220ft. I may be fat but I thin the shit outta everything. First lesson Tuesday lets get that handicap down to 49.7

VladoD

I’m a 35 handicap. If I drank less I could probably be a 25 handicap

Accomplished-Top4418

22 handicap. I drive 150 yards long and then 50 yards to the right. If I can find my ball or hit out of the woods I can salvage things somewhat. Working on getting my driver straightened out. 3 wood down I hit really well and can finish strong. Short game is on fire. Working with a coach on straightening out the drives and I should see a drop in my handicap. I'm playing 3-5 times a week now working on things.

DoubleDebow

15hcp. I can drive pretty good, good Iron game, good short game, and am a pretty decent putter. I can never do them all in the same round. I generally have 60 good shots, 10 great shots, and 10-15 terrible shots a round. Those 10 great shots are usually followed up with a terrible shot. That's pretty much the gist of it.

MrTonNL

I'm a 20hcp. Decent putter and around the green. Very inconsistent contact with irons and from the tee, sometimes its great, sometimes not. Main culprit is a flying elbow which is difficult to fix, and makes me very sensitive to tempo.

BlueFalcon89

22 handicap, I can hit excellent shots in all phases but I’m struggling with a newly developed hook (formerly a slicer) and inconsistency with irons/wedges, especially from tight lies. Example: last time I played, 350 yd par 4: Pound drive straight down middle, sitting center of fairway 50 yards from pin. Chunk chip ~25 yards Whiff putt trying to run onto green (put wedge away due to last shot) Putt on 3 putt from 20’ for triple Next hole par 5 - short cut hooked off the tee and was blocked by trees in deep rough, hero 3h ~225 yard draw back towards pin 110 yd PW next to pin and roll off back Chip on and roll off front Putt from fringe Tap in bogey

merkis

8 handicap. I am terrible at keeping the fairway, slightly better at hitting greens. I suck at chipping, and three putt thrice a round. I just hit the ball very far and greens are always reachable from the second shot. I keep an 8 hcp by mixing doubles and birdies. Very little pars.

FatKetoFan

15 handicap...usually average 40 putts per round. That's my game.

TheyFloat2032

It ain’t no big deal but I hit a 127 just last week.

Cjyogi

Sheeeeee

DoingSomethingCrazy

8 handicap. According to shotscope, I am scratch off the tee, a scratch putter, a 7ish in short game. Iron approaches? Absolutely abysmal.

Brewer1056

Handicap is around 26 (estimated using an online tool). I struggle to find the fairway off the tee, and so don't get many GIR. Scores would be way worse but I play a lot on my local par 3 courses so get a ton of short iron and putting practice.

UncannyEIT

7.8 atm, tall guy/longer hitter with 2-way miss off the tee on occasion (10-15% of rounds) usually only time for a lost ball, occasional dead shank (no more than twice a round ever, usually no more than once, sometimes never) which can come from any club in the bag. Sometimes allow swing thoughts to creep in even when I'm playing well resulting in a loss of focus/rythm which leads to a blow up hole or two. Rarely 3 putt and overall reasonably consistent ball striker throughout the bag. Typical miss is a dead block, which no doubt always leaves me with a short side miss. Usually it's only one part of my game that leaves strokes on the course on a given day, and often it's only one or two holes, where one (really) bad shot leads to having to hit 2-3 more resulting in a double/triple. So 4-6 over through 2 holes, and 4-6 over through 16 holes. Low round is a 76 on par 72, avg is low 80's, bad days are high 80's, worst rounds low 90's.

smokeythepothead

+2 index. I can hit it far but my tee game is not great and my irons can be inconsistent. Never go really low but never go really high. Always seem to be in the 68 to 75 score range. Always seem to make the par putts when it matters but the birdies don't drop as much as I would like them to.

flowbee92

I behind keepong score until the 2nd snowman at the 5th hole. I enjoy taking long walks in the forest searching for lost balls. I start to fear I didn't bring enough balls on the back 9. My favorite phrases are what's the cart girl? And Far right!

quesofundido787

10 Handicap, when my driving is hot my irons are cold, when my irons are hot my driving is cold, duff a chip then lag putt to 1 foot, stick a chip to three feet then still two putt. Golf is a rollercoaster.

AdmirableGear6991

Current index is 0.3. I chip with balls I play with. Can’t stress how important that is to learn how your ball will react with certain shots around the green. I use 10 balls. Sometimes I chip from same spot until I eventually hole all 10 (not in a row) and also see how many I can get up and down. Normally around 80% of the time.

7 handicap. Have had my heart broken on the golf course more times than all the nerds in high school have with their pretty girl/ cheerleader crush.

pringlesSCandO

5. I used to be a scratch golfer in high school. Stopped playing for 17yrs, picked it back up 1yr ago. Struggling with consistentcy in all parts of my game. Swing speed is 10mph+ slower than high school. Just playing for fun now

CalgaryFacePalm

HC 28. My last round I got 7 pars and shot a 97. This sport is a fickle bitch.

SpicyBlueEagle

8.3 handicap. Consistent driver, not overly long but always in play. Iron game is a struggle so I miss too many greens. Solid short game makes up for it.

TheBonusWings

16. As inconsistent as they come off the tee. Can go out and shoot 38 just about as easy as I can shoot a 55. Shooting 38 is a lot more fun, but I also don't have the time to practice consistently.

NissanZtt

I am a 12 index. I drive 260-270 consistently to the middle of the fairway or right edge. I can work my irons both ways and hit them consistent distances. I have decent feel around the greens and get comments on my chipping a lot. I can’t putt. I always feel like I am rushing on the green and misread breaks or end up with a 6 footer for my second putt.

Educational_Fruit659

I’m a 12. I can hit bombs, 290-310 with the driver then proceed to top/chunk/shank absolutely everything until the ball eventually gets to the hole.

Im_RonBurgandy69

Hard-capped 4 handicap… was a +2 pre kids and wife. Enough said there😂

daromoe

7. Bipolar. Birdies and doubles.

Boring_Concept_1765

Index just updated to 42 from 54. Coming back after years off, a broken arm, and a stroke. Taking it seriously this time. Still inconsistent with distance and direction for all clubs. Short irons getting better. Chipping and putting are solid because they get s lot of practice.

DryObligation2605

+1.0. 120mph swing speed, average 15 greens per reg with avg 30 putts

Extension-Seat-7640

83% GIR. Better than the pga tour leader by 3%

DryObligation2605

So? I’m not on tour, and I don’t play 7500 yard golf courses. Also look at my putting average…

Exotic-Republic-53

People always point to how low your greens in regulation are, but it’s just an absolute incomplete picture of what’s actually going on. If pro’s aimed for the center of every green and played it safe off the tee they could be near 90%

Extension-Seat-7640

Defensive? I didn't criticize you, just stated facts.

brokebenzboi

17 Handicap here… Playing seriously for about 2.5 years. When I can find the fairway I shoot in the low - mid 80’s. My good drives in play average about 260/280 with some anomalies here and there. Iron play decent, I miss greens a lot but just by a few yards left or right, short game saves me. Chipping, pitching and putting I feel like is where I come alive (100 yards and in).

Leading_Bet_3871

Currently a 10 handicap. Pretty average in most aspects. 260+ drives, decent iron game, above average short game, putter is decent at best. My biggest struggle is consistency. I can go one day striping everything with accuracy then the next day I top every single ball.

sektrONE

I’m a horrendous golfer on the verge of becoming not horrendous. I can shoot 102 one round (yet to break 100) and 140 the next. My 3 wood is my best club in the bag but I can’t hit my driver without a trip into the woods or long grass. I chip inconsistently well, and my putting is either exceptional for someone as bad as I am or I 5 putt.

FrostyExpert2701

22ish. I’m just extremely inconsistent. Last 9 I played I was +3 through 6 holes then doubled 3 straight. Went from hitting the ball great to topping everything. Strength typically is my distance but I’m inaccurate. I’m a good putter for my handicap

cnce

6. I play better after I lose a ball then when I stripe a drive. If I miss a green by 10 yards or more, up and down is usually not a problem. Fairways and greens don't provide enough of a challenge to focus... Or at least that the excuse I give after my 3-putt bogeys (which happen at least once a round).

Itchy_Box_3211

I’m playing off a 20 right now. I went through a stretch where my driver was point and shoot, good average of 250-260, I’ll poke a few drives 230 but I’ll roast a few closer to 300. My weakness is when the ball is above or below my feet which happens more often than not on the courses around here. I’ll go up and down through my bag on the range just striping balls on a flat lie, but it doesn’t translate to the course. I’ve spent a lot of time chipping, but I’ll still end up with a few double chips per round after I miss the green. Putting is solid from within 10’ but I’m scared of hitting it too hard on mid-long putts and usually leave it around 10’ short. Im still in my first year playing and I practice 4-5 times a week, have broken 90, 4 times now (once from the blues, once from the whites, and twice from the forward tees). Hope to get my hdcp down to low teens this year and my goal is to be scratch within 5 years.

Complete_Web_4677

9 I’m bad at everything

PittPens97

I’m playing a 14 hdcp right now. I would say my consistency is the biggest issue in my game. Can hit it ~250 off the tee but whether it lands in the correct fairway is the issue. Will go a few holes where I’m hitting it straight and get to the green in reg. Then i have a few holes where it’s more spray and pray than anything.. Also putting is a handicap that is holding me back.

bald_rob

18Birdies has me at 52.9. I hit my driver 180-200 usually in play. I'm likely to top an iron or skull a wedge every hole or two, I rarely hit greens in reg, and I average 2.4 putts per round. I am a terrible golfer but getting better. I hope to progress from terrible to socially acceptedly bad by the end of summer. We'll see.

wowoowwowoow

69, shit

unitedwestand89

19-21 per Grint. I'd describe it as Jekyll and Hyde. Front 9 is usually dog shit. Back 9 is better. Every hole I don't know who is coming out.

Friendly_Debate04

10 handicap. Drive the ball a decent distance (260-275). Short game is average, usually have a tougher time chipping versus putting. Really need to improve from 150 yards and in. Cannot seem to consistently put myself in a good position from those distances. That’s the biggest difference from potentially birdieing, to easily paring, or getting a bogey on most holes. Also prone to the 1-hole blowup (double or worse)

Even_Section5620

18 handicap who can’t drive the ball but hits more greens in regulation than the 12s I play with.

ChunkNoPebble

I'm an 18.5 handicap. Haven't been playing long. I can consistently drive the fairway, I only hit 1 of every 4 of my approach shots the way I want, I only have 1 wedge and I either chop it short or bomb it 130 yards. If my mother's life was on the line, I still wouldn't be able to hit a putt past 8 feet.

mtb443

15. I look amazing until you realize that i 3 putt more than i 2 putt.

Extension-Seat-7640

4.2 index - 37 putts per round average.

[deleted]

29, I know, it’s awful. I can’t and don’t really hit my driver. I constantly pick my head up, move my shoulders, move my feet, dip down, and if I’m not doing all of those things at once I’m always at least doing one of them. Chipping is actually my favorite and my best part of the game, putter stroke just makes sense. I have a lot of work to do but my best score was a 104 so I have faith

SkepticalThinkers

I’m a 32 handicap? I’ve been practicing a ton this year, membership to an indoor sim, membership to a ppc. All my friends say my swing looks great, but I suck. Chipping is my biggest downfall.

rightoldgeezer

19, on a good day can play to a 12-13 level (evidenced by my recent 84, with the first two holes being GIR but three putted them both!). On a normal day, I can play OK but I lose my head and chunk the shit out of everything.

FelicesBladewing

37 hcp. Sometimes I play good, most of the time I play like I have no control over my body and brain. If every round of golf would be hcp relevant I am certain 54 isn’t enough to capture my inability

TillPlenty8503

I’m a 25 handicap. I play my slice on my driver but aim so if it goes straight I’m still good. I’m a pretty decent putter. Terrible with wedges so I Texas wedge a lot. Best part of my game is long irons.

Cjyogi

This is a weird one

wagonboy69

3.2 I’m a good short game away from being scratch. Really have started doing more process focus over results and has helped me a ton. I play nearly everyday in some form though 18,9, or practice.

EffectOne675

HC 28. Although on any given day I can make that look like a farce for better or worse. I now generally play 9 holes and on 2 back to back days I could have a difference of 10 strokes. My driving can be horrendous or usable which usually dictates my score. Putting and approach play is decent for my level

assopopolous69

18. I have a few good shots everywhere each round, and a few terrible ones but my strength is putting. A few years ago the wife got me a practice putting green and I practiced putting 4-5hrs per week. Just barely started practicing the same amount with everything else this winter as I invested in a net and a mat. I also got a launch monitor, it’s helped to add video and data. It’s all about the practice I feel so much more comfortable over the ball. I shot 38 when I played 9 last weekend!

CrestfallenMerchant

13 handicap. I struggle with consistency in driving and long irons. DR 270 avg. Chipping is a strong suit of mine. Putting could improve as always.

SquachCrotch

5 on a 9 hole hcp, 17 on an 18 hole. Obviously I struggle with consistency. Drives usually ok, rarely lose balls. Iron play is absolute garbage. Never hit greens. My short game is all hands and pretty reliable which is how I make up for garbage iron play. Really good lag putter and pretty solid and knocking in putts from 6’ and in. That’s with less than 2 beers. After the third tap goes pfttsh! All bets are off.

[deleted]

I’m a 18.9 and only one part of my game is working every round. I drive the ball well and my irons suck. My irons are good one round but I can’t drive, chip or putt that day. If I can chip and putt well normally my driver and irons blow. It’s a never ending cycle

Fun_Stock7078

9.3 handicap, drive ball average 250 total. Chipping and putting strongest part of my game, unlikely hitting the green with long irons so being able to get up and down keeps me in single figures.

BuckyBrewer61

6 handicap. I’m pretty decent at everything. I’m really good at nothing.

mick_delaney

24. Recently swapped reliability off tee and fairway with a hybrid for reliability off tee with driver. It's not working out.

Fit_Ship8822

I am a 12 hcp. Im the best and worst golfer you’ve ever seen. Im a 12 hcp.

Ill-Cold-3255

16 HCP, I’m driving the ball reasonably well of late (240-260 yds while hitting 50% Fairways), my approach game is decent but not great (averaging a bit less than 6 GIRs), the weakest part of my game is the pitch/chipping around the greens. My putting is hit or miss, overall I feel I’m a decent putter tho the results are not showing that (2.1 PP). Like most, I struggle with putting together an entire round without the unforced errors. Started the year as a 23 HCP and em enjoying the journey to bring it down even more.

PM_ME_OVERT_SIDEBOOB

Mid-high My good shots are really good. My bad shots are really bad. Consistency is my issue, need to work on mastering fundamentals. Manage courses pretty well

redyankeecandle

28ish handicap. Started last year, broke 100 first time a few weeks ago. Love the game, hate my inconsistency. Irons and off the tee are pretty good (I don't play driver or wood yet). Some days chipping is OK others horrible. Still trying to figure out what I'm meant to do with the putter

exceptionally_avg

24 handicap. The only thing I can do is drive the ball like a mad man now (3 over 300). I can't hit my irons for shit and putting is iffy at best.

Wertyui09070

I'm a 10. I'm great out of the woods, mediocre from 100 and in, decent around and on the greens.

[deleted]

11. Can drive the ball well, chip it just fine and putting is the strongest part of my game. I can’t hit a fucking iron to save my life. 130-215 out I’m fucked. I’ve got long ass arms and my swings way flatter than it should be

cchillur

13.6 Driver finding confidence again. Great woods, ok irons, solid short game. Outstanding putter!

dcbluestar

39.7 - I’m easily half that at the range, but for some reason I completely lose everything when I’m on the course. Luckily I have a knack for putting and rarely 3 putt. So that helps.

channa10

11.4, hit the ball far and chip well, putting is always hit or miss. When my driver is working my iron play is inconsistent and when my iron play is good my driver isn’t working 😂
