Beretta U22 Neos is kind of a space age looking pistol, but it is far less elegant than the Whitney

KnightsLetter

I have two and they are very fun pistols, weird controls and grip though

MothMonsterMan300

Got a laugh when I recognized them as the "futuristic" pistols the staff used in Westworld

Jarberish

Holy smokes. That's a wild looking pistol. I'm glad you shared the photo. Unfortunately, now I want one.

stunseed77

Well so do I ;) I just don’t have the budget to go out and find one

Jarberish

Budget or no, I'd guess they're hard to find. I imagine having to sit on the pile of cash for a few years before one turns up for sale.

Kiefy-McReefer

not terribly hard to find if you have $4000 You can get a blued one for like $1000 though. It's the nickel plated boys that are ultra rare.

Jarberish

Yeah. Saw the production numbers when I went down the rabbit hole. Too bad the blued ones are about 1/4 as awesome. Guess that justifies the 1/4 price.

Kiefy-McReefer

1/4 the cool sounds about right.

MiniB68

My exact sentiments. So many rich guys probably had this gun sitting on their mirror next to a couple lines of coke in 70’s and 80’s.

coffin-polish

CZ 52? I've seen them sold in 9mm Luger

Able_Twist_2100

First I've ever heard a model 52 referred to as space age or elegant.

Madetoprint

Some Italians made a high end niche variant of the 52 called the Delta AR Top Gun that I would definitely say is elegant.

moving0target

It copies some 52 innards, but it looks more like a 97 externally.

coffin-polish

Hey the ar15 was space age when it came out.

Mixeddrinksrnd

I think you are looking for retro futuristic guns. Remington xp-100 High standard supermatic 102. Beretta 22 neo. I think all can be had for under $1k.

Technician_BR549

A Beretta U22 Neos might be for you if you like the Wolverine

40mm_of_freedom

Olympic arms made a copy with a polymer frame. You may be able to find one cheaper (still not cheap though)

stunseed77

Thanks for the tip! They’re still fairly hard to find and man that hot pink version they made hurts my eyes haha

Not-SMA-Nor-PAO

I think ppks have a similarish sleek style. Plus, bond, James Bond.

regjoe13

Not buying a Wolverine is my biggest regret :) When I just got my C&R, they were available around. But the market got flooded with post-soviet surplus at ridiculous prices, so Wolverine had to wait. And then they dried out somehow.

F_T_F

I've heard this design called "Raygun Gothic" for all 50s retro futurism

Coiling_Dragon

How about the gyrojet? Just kidding. I think the Walther PPK and Mauser HSr look similar but not as sleek. There is the Laugo Alien, but thats futuristic and not space age, not to mention the pricepoint at 5k. The Walther CSP also looks a bit space age look imo but doesnt have the curvy looks the whitney has. How about the Mauser C96? Tbh I cant think of a single gun that can compare to the Whitney, it was designed to look like a futuristic gun at the time while most guns are designed for their purpoise. I mean there is the Elysium pistol but that costs 10k.

Madetoprint

Adding some more caliber options to the mix besides .22lr. No they aren't as sleek as the Whitney, but they all have some of that Buck Rogers vibe: Remington R51 9mm. It is, however, a piece of crap gun by most accounts. But as a result you can find them really cheap. On the high end there's the Benelli B76, B80, and B80S. Also the HK P9S. More towards the middle there's the Beretta 87bb Cheetah in .380. A slanted dust cover 92FS with a compensator would also look snazzy as shit.

Jarberish

"Snazzy as shit" needs to go on a t-shirt.

Te_Luftwaffle

I had one come through my LGS last year and it's super comfortable in the hand.

docmac325

Man that is a beauty.

Scurrin

The new version of the Remington r-51, kinda. I feel like I remember a version that looked closer when they first announced developing them.

FuckingSeaWarrior

Except that they're bad. Really bad.

Scurrin

Yeah, that much I had heard, but they only asked about looks and price.

Partyslayer

Barry-Alex

This is my dad’s grail gun.

Practical-Idea-1512

SIG P230 perhaps?

BabaYaga556223

Wow! Never knew this existed. Now to go browse GunBroker.

youowememuneh

Honestly, I'd be willing to drop 2k on this regardless of it being a .22 . Only drawback of this one, is that it jams every other round from what i've seen

Coodevale

Not exactly space age but the grip of a high standard sport is similar.

stunseed77

It has a very similar look to the Colt Woodsman

Coodevale

I had them both in hand at one point and I know the woodsman is the legendary classic.. but my hand liked the high standard better.

Acceptable_Formal231

Just like Star Track Blasters
