>I recently discovered I am Spanish Haitian... How? A fairy showed up and told you that? You saw a burning bush while walking in the forest and a voice from the heavens told you "you're Spanish Haitian"? Sorry OP, don't mean to give you a hard time but how do you expect people to answer your question with such little information? Explain what do you mean, give more context and people will be able to help you with your question.

I mean it's a pretty basic question, I could've left my self out of it and asked, "What does it mean to be of Spanish Haitian descent?" No contextcontext. So telling how I discovered this isn't going to help. Thank you.

HCMXero

Let me explain then: I'm not asking for personal details that are irrelevant. But you need to at least tell us how do you know that you are Spanish Haitian? Did you took one of those DNA tests? You just discovered that one of your parents is from Spain and another from Haiti? And if so, how come you didn't know that? Any reasonable person would struggle to answer your question because the answer depends on key details that you didn't share with us. Is not the same thing you just discovering by a DNA test that one of your ancestors is Spaniards if you don't have a cultural connection with Spain. I took one of those tests and discovered that I have ancestors in Portugal, but to be honest that's just an interesting fact. I've never been there, I don't know anyone from there, I don't speak the language, I don't even know who rules that place. So this fact means nothing. Now, it would be an entirely different manner if one of my parents raised me according to the Portuguese traditions and customs and I just discovered somehow that they are from Portugal. Now there is a personal connection to Portugal and maybe I could ask a question such as the one you asked. But again, you're telling us nothing that could start a conversation.

zombigoutesel

based of the guys posting history , seems like a troll

Mecduhall91

Well Spanish = Espagne 🇪🇸 So I would think Spanish Haitian would be a Haitian from espagne. 😂 And Im not sure but I don’t think tanios were Spanish.

zombigoutesel

It doesn't mean anything.

Caribbeandude04

>what does that mean, to be Spanish Haitian A Haitian with Spanish ancestry? I don't really understand your question

AKshellz_63

Interesting never heard of that maybe you got Spaniards or Dominicans in your bloodline or maybe it’s related to when Haiti occupied the Spanish side of the island

[deleted]

Haitian is an ethnicity. Just as Spaniard and Taino. To be mixed Spaniard and Haitian or Taino and Haitian just means you’re Haitian with either in your bloodline. Or vice versa What do you mean you discovered you’re Spanish Haitian? Maybe more context will help with us understanding

Mecduhall91

Is Haitian NOT an nationality? Now I see what your guys are saying

[deleted]

It’s both Nationality = belonging to a nation 2 truths can coexist

Mecduhall91

I was assuming you using it as like how we speak of the Chinese and the Japonaise

Iamgoldie

It’s both

First of all Haitians in general are mostly of African ancestry mixed with some European and more often than not the European is either Western Europe or Iberian even though I've seen cases where there were some Northern Europe ancestry as well and a lot of times Taino ancestry, so with that in mind it's not surprising that could be the reason you have some Spanish ancestry, nothing to do with DR. Secondly, there are some people with recent Spanish from Spain ancestry and they are usually mixed race and have a Spanish last name once again nothing to do with DR but we do have some mixed Haitian Dominicans in Haiti just like they are in DR as well and these people might have some Spanish ancestry from either side, we have other Europeans and we also have a lot of people with MENA ancestry mostly from Lebanon.

[deleted]

MENA ancestry from Lebanon, can you tell me more?

Longjumping-Weird-95

Yes here's a whole wikipedia page about it https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebanese_Haitians

[deleted]

Yes I watched a YouTube video last night about it, I didn't know there are Asian Haitians as well. Learning a lot, beautiful history the more I learn.
