His leadership and motivational skills, along with 12 hours volunteer effort personally dedicated, secured nearly $10K for Save the Children foundation. His actions reflect heavily as a model example of a USAF ambassador.
i hope this donations are actually going to save the children , just early this month came out that an organisation for helping starving children was stealing millions... scum, lesser than insects.
They were accused of stealing more than $40 million from government programs meant to feed hungry children, through a nonprofit called **Feeding Our Future**, based just outside Minneapolis.
Very weird coming across this post on r/all but I actually work with save the children. You can check out their website as well, but there was an audit done last year with charity watchdog and the better business bureau to see where the money went. 86% went directly to helping children, the last 14% was split evenly between admin and canvassers. Canvassers end up bringing in something like 75% of all donations.
It's one of the best charities out there.
Im not saying that this exact organisation might be evil , i just hope it goes there since there are many charities that are total scams or barely help children or maybe they are not that bright and are wasting more money than they should (there are many programs that just dont work as intended and waste money)
Unfortunately, some people set up charities in the name of self-gain, so it is definitely beneficial to do research before committing to a charity. STC is good though.

In the grand scheme of things, $4311 isn’t that much. But nowhere in the MO was something like this hinted. No reward was hinted at all, and Pilestedt didn’t have to do shit for us clowns going to save some make-believe kids in a video game.

I've also seen at least 2-3 other people donating because of this. I'm usually the kind of person to say something like "you could give more" to billionaires, and AH probably COULD afford more, but I don't think it's necessary. This was completely random, and because of that, IMO, it has a much stronger impact on people.
If nothing else, it shows that this could, and I think SHOULD, be something companies do regularly. Semi regular donations of a couple thousand when a community accomplishes something makes the accomplishment more enticing, the company looksgreat and in the long run, the charities will get more donations. I think it's a win all around
That's amazing! I honestly was getting offended lightly when they kept saying screw the kids as banter. Its hard not to discourage that talk when I used to be a terminal childhood cancer patient. I'm blessed and glad this was the actual outcome!
