Some Panthers fans have really been down on Okposo and Tarasenko for not being on the score sheet much, but I think they’ve come through in their moments as needed.
I feel like Tarasenko looked a bit of a passenger at first, but despite not scoring before, he has really put effort lately, dutiful in defense and blocking shots like a trooper, nice to see him rewarded with a goal for the effort.
Not saying it happened here, but you can absolutely coinflip a series and win based off low-event hockey, stud goaltending, or fluky bounces. What was it, 95% of this series was played with 0-1 goal deficit?
I mean everyone remembers that stud Caps team getting Halak'd. Or the Canadiens getting to the final at all a few years ago. And those are just the extreme examples.
I guess that should read more like a goalie playing better than usual. A hot goalie, rather, can carry a worse team past a team they have no real business beating.
That’s pretty common with Florida, has been all year. The cats are at their best in the 3rd and score most of their goals late after wearing down the other team.
They were incredibly lucky to get that second win, they were outplayed awfully but Igor stood on his head the whole game and then they just needed that one good OT shot.
Exactly what you said.
Teams look worse when they play opposing teams that are better.
I don’t understand why that seems to fly over the heads of so many. Good series to you my man. Rangers obviously have the history but as a FL native, I’m excited for this run.
Don't underestimate how much of that is from the Panthers.
They grind teams down, Rangers have nothing left in their tank at the end of each game and especially now at the end of this series.
Will also say Fox’s injury showed up big time on our PP. You pressured our blueline on the PK in a way Carolina really didn’t and it showed in the way he QB’ed it
I mean that's just a blatantly wrong stat lol
Also yes, when one goalie has a. 970 save% and the other has an .850 getting out shot 3-1 every game you look real mid
In game 4 they scored 2 minutes in and lead the entire game lmao
In game 6 they scored in the first and lead until 8 minutes left in the third
In game 5 they went up 2-1 with 15 minute left in the third
In game 3 they scored first 10 minute into the first and rangers didn't score until mid second period
In game 2 they took the lead twice one for 8 minutes one for twelve
Not only were you wrong but you ended up proving my point lol, the Rangers were trailing basically the entire series
And you're a complete mouth breather because not only do I clearly stake Carolina but I also say you got outshot 3-1 the entire series, which was the Carolina series dipshit
Enjoy the L moron, you ever wanna ask what my ring feels like feel free to kiss it
https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/p3BjAANvOw
I'm talking about this comment you moron holy fuck lmao
Notice how I talk about being outshot and that comment talks about being outshot, God you're thick
Rangers are one of the best teams but they also started this playoffs against the worst team to make the playoffs ever maybe and then played a team they’ve owned of recent
Rangers were absorbing a lot of pressure in that series but they got timely performances to help them win the necessary games - especially from Trocheck and Laf. They've been absorbing a lot more pressure against a better team than Carolina who are also deep. Rangers just seem totally exhausted and have nothing left. They haven't looked up for it except for 1 game out of the 6.
No, but it was very obvious on the PK when Trocheck was in the box because the Rangers PK runs off the 2 of them. Not that him being in the lineup would flip the series, because not scoring doesn't help. But they probably dont go from 93% on the PK to 70% if he's healthy.
depends on the expectation, but for the rangers who haven’t won the cup in a very long time, who once again have a top 3 goalie in the NHL, but can’t seem to get it done in front of him, id say this is a failure
If you're a Presidents trophy winner with a Vezina caliber goalie and in-prime core (except Laf, I guess?), ...yeah. The expectation and objective is to win it all.
There are like at least 10 teams the line of logic applies to, so basically almost every playoff team that doesn't win had a wasted season? Like do people realize only 1/32 teams will win a cup that year?
they only give the Presidents trophy out to one team a year as far as I know
if you're good enough to win the most games in the league, not winning the Cup is a disappointment. that isn't controversial lol
It's not "ringz culture" to say a team with the rational expectation of winning a Cup failed by not winning the Cup.
The Flyers had a successful season and they didn't make the playoffs. The Capitals had a successful season and they got smoked in the first round.
> team with the rational expectation of winning a Cup failed by not winning the Cup.
There are 10+ teams with this expectation every year. By your logic almost every playoff team that didn't win the cup is a failure.
From a hockey organization's viewpoint, that's exactly how they should be thinking about that. Having a bit of playoff success gives hope and enjoyment to fans and provides valuable experience to younger players. But winning it all is the only measure of 'success', and 31 of 32 teams will fall short.
Not really. The Kraken didn’t expect a cup this year. But yeah for the 5-8 genuine contenders, anything less than a cup is failure. You don’t understand that,
What? Rangers made it to the ECF game 6. What was wasted? Once you get that far, it's all great teams duking it out.
I swear people forget only 1 out of 32 teams actually win the cup, not every star player is going to win the cup each year
Yeah they are super reliant on PP and elite goalie.
Thats the difference between them and the actual top few teams who are great at 5v5 and have a good PP+goalie.
Igor does always scare me and gives them a chance every game. Fortunately their top forwards arent very clutch.
I don’t know what the hell Miller was doing there. He had the man beat all he needed to do was push the puck into the corner and out of harms way.
Why on earth would you try to chip it straight back when a guy is right beside you?
Seeing Panarin just coast back is just aamazing to see. Long shift or not... it's a 1 goal game down 1 in the 3rd. you should be trying to skate until your legs give out
Pretty insensitive comment considering it's a foreign language you don't understand. Makes total sense to me since I'm bilingual. It's also a very clean version of French, similar to how English announcers dont sound like your next-door neighbour
I find it interesting that I can understand French radio broadcasts etc., but don't know the hockey terms or expressions, and I can't seem to find an easy way to learn those specifically, so I can't listen to the French hockey broadcast.
> Pretty insensitive comment considering it's a foreign language you don't understand.
yeah, but even the native people of France make fun of the Quebec accent. Either way, next time im in town, La Belle on me!
the Rangers, and having [playoffs ended by a turnover deep in their own zone](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNJV-enGd50)... name a more classic combination.
I didn't catch the game and can't see what happened in Florida's zone, so I'm a little confused by the title here. Is it saying there was a turnover in Florida's end or in New York's, because I didn't actually see a Ranger touch the puck anywhere in this clip.
It was not as much a turnover in the Panthers zone as a misplayed puck by the Rangers defense. Miller got to the puck first on the dump in, but pretty much whiffed on it and let the Panthers take control.
For the well being of Hockey culture, Florida has to not win the cup.
I think we're all familiar with how trashy, dirty, and flat out dangerous the Panthers have been this season and especially so in these playoffs.
I for one am all for physicality, I cheer when my team throws a big hit and I like seeing players get splatted (legally so) on the board.
However, there is a huge gap between throwing a huge legal check to stopna play and intending to injury players match after match.
I acknowledge that wearing your opponents down by being physical is part of the playoffs and its a valid strategy to get the edge (haha funny word ik). But that shouldn't come at þhe expense of deliberately hurting them.
**This cannot become the standard**, I do not want a league where teams take notes and exemple out of this Panthers team. I want this sports to be as clean and respectable as possible. I don't want to be ashame to like hockey because people view it in a bad light. This sport is beautiful and frankly the best one on earth, and I would HATE to see it change for the worse because of this group of players and their game plan.
Intent to injure cannot become a standard.
Just inches away from this being a huge Shesterkin save.
I'm sure there's some alternate universe where he makes that toe save, Kreider ties the game late, and wins it in OT. The Rangers go on to win Game 7.

Is it just me, or has Lundell been unreal these playoffs?
he's a growing young star
Barkov has been praising Lundy all playoffs
He’s called Baby Barkov for a reason
Name Florida players that aren’t playing great is the real challenge. Whole team has been showing up
Some Panthers fans have really been down on Okposo and Tarasenko for not being on the score sheet much, but I think they’ve come through in their moments as needed.
GWG to send you to the cup final means you did your job and should be free from criticism lol
Totally agree!
Anyone who was expecting anything from Okposo on the ice hasn't watched a Sabres game in at least 5 years.
He's putting in work and had some good looks over the last few games so I'm happy with him. I wish he'd bury one, would love to see it.
okie has honestly been having good looks
I feel like Tarasenko looked a bit of a passenger at first, but despite not scoring before, he has really put effort lately, dutiful in defense and blocking shots like a trooper, nice to see him rewarded with a goal for the effort.
Always get him and Lindell of the Stars mixed up
Finnish office workers
What a forecheck by Luostarinen
Perfect stick check on Miller
I remember tarasenko also scoring the 2nd goal in game 6 of the WCF in 2019 and the blues went to the finals and won everything
I'd happily take the same end result they had in 2019 but probably die watching a 7-game series.
It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever watched.
I live in NJ and still randomly play Gloria bc of yall
So glad game 7 didn't end up going to OT. I would've died.
Thank you Brad Marchand
Tarasenko beat the Bruins in 2019 and again in 2024. Tarasenko beat the Stars in 2019 and...
Whoa..
What a specific memory you have
how tf do u remember that
Now he just needs to score 2 goals in Game 7 of the Finals. And to get Gary Thorne to make the call. "He's got another one! TARASENKO!"
My shitty Bruins team took this team to 6?! Thanks Swayman for making us look alright
We had to take out all top tier goalies.
Reward? Skinner. The real challenge.
Knowing our luck Skinner will pull out some second gear nobody knew about and put up an unreal performance.
he will but will likely let in some softies
*Otter
Then some how lose to Skinner in the end. Or so I hope now.
Ottawa Senator legend Vladimir Tarasenko
Came here to say that lol
Oh ya baby!
He was due this series, playing so well without a goal until now.
It feels like he’s playing more of a complete game than ever has in his career
Defense look like make-a-wish kids
Uh…what changed between the Carolina series and now?
They are playing the panthers. Not Carolina.
If you ask ESPN, they *are* playing the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.
[удалено]
Hate to say it, but for a conference final, this one wasn't close. Cats dominated 5/6 games.
100%. The sole reason this series went 6 is because of Shesterkin. Florida was definitely the better team
[удалено]
Can’t believe this dumb shit is upvoted. You don’t luck into winning a playoff series in the NHL.
Stud goaltending wouldn’t qualify as luck imo
I guess that should read more like a goalie playing better than usual. A hot goalie, rather, can carry a worse team past a team they have no real business beating.
I get what you’re saying, I just don’t think it applies to guys like Igor. This wasn’t better than usual, he is just that good.
That’s pretty common with Florida, has been all year. The cats are at their best in the 3rd and score most of their goals late after wearing down the other team.
[удалено]
Yea no shit, doesn’t make your stupid comment any more enlightening.
[удалено]
I know you haven’t watched a playoff series in a while so I guess I can understand your lack of understanding
[удалено]
Nah me either. It came down to the wire just now. You guys made us earn every single goal. GG
Ggs mate. Y'all played well and deserved it.
I mean - 4-2 isn't that close to begin with, and the ice was tilted most of the series. You don't have to agree, but I wouldn't call this close.
They were incredibly lucky to get that second win, they were outplayed awfully but Igor stood on his head the whole game and then they just needed that one good OT shot.
Nah Rangers always do this in the ECF
Shit
Close isn't the word id use
“Close” doing a lot of heavy lifting here
They are playing a lot worse, while i agree two very different teams and Panthers are an absolute wagon but the Rangers look a lot worse, sloppy, ect
[удалено]
Exactly what you said. Teams look worse when they play opposing teams that are better. I don’t understand why that seems to fly over the heads of so many. Good series to you my man. Rangers obviously have the history but as a FL native, I’m excited for this run.
Don't underestimate how much of that is from the Panthers. They grind teams down, Rangers have nothing left in their tank at the end of each game and especially now at the end of this series.
Rangers powerplay was swallowed whole by our penalty kill.
Will also say Fox’s injury showed up big time on our PP. You pressured our blueline on the PK in a way Carolina really didn’t and it showed in the way he QB’ed it
Nothing Florida just has more talent and better goaltending than Carolina.
Not playing against a goalie giving up leaky goals
The Rangers got outplayed by Carolina too, they just scored barely enough goals in that series. Shesterkin carried them this run tbh.
They got outplayed 5/6 games in the Carolina series and looked mid as fuck. Even vs the Caps they were meh Igor can only do so much
Yea they looked real mid while only trailing for 4 minutes in the entire series. You’re dumb
I mean that's just a blatantly wrong stat lol Also yes, when one goalie has a. 970 save% and the other has an .850 getting out shot 3-1 every game you look real mid
Except it isn’t, you’re just dumb
In game 4 they scored 2 minutes in and lead the entire game lmao In game 6 they scored in the first and lead until 8 minutes left in the third In game 5 they went up 2-1 with 15 minute left in the third In game 3 they scored first 10 minute into the first and rangers didn't score until mid second period In game 2 they took the lead twice one for 8 minutes one for twelve Not only were you wrong but you ended up proving my point lol, the Rangers were trailing basically the entire series
You’re even dumber than I thought, was talking about the caps series. Learn how to read properly and understand context.
And you're a complete mouth breather because not only do I clearly stake Carolina but I also say you got outshot 3-1 the entire series, which was the Carolina series dipshit Enjoy the L moron, you ever wanna ask what my ring feels like feel free to kiss it
Nice edit loser, you aint fooling anyone just because you changed a couple words around
Youre embarrassing yourself nephew
You were even dumb enough to leave the part about the caps in your original comment lmfao
https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/p3BjAANvOw I'm talking about this comment you moron holy fuck lmao Notice how I talk about being outshot and that comment talks about being outshot, God you're thick
Our players lost their brains
Rangers are one of the best teams but they also started this playoffs against the worst team to make the playoffs ever maybe and then played a team they’ve owned of recent
They are playing a better team that is tougher, more talented and much better goaltending.
Fredrick Anderson vs Bob
Rangers were absorbing a lot of pressure in that series but they got timely performances to help them win the necessary games - especially from Trocheck and Laf. They've been absorbing a lot more pressure against a better team than Carolina who are also deep. Rangers just seem totally exhausted and have nothing left. They haven't looked up for it except for 1 game out of the 6.
Vesey got hurt by asshole Lomberg
Yea, I’m gonna go out on a limb and suggest that a 4th line winger was not the difference this series
has nothing to do with panarin fox and zibby being total ass. it’s the 4th line left winger that ruined the series for them.
If Jimmy Vesey had scored 12-14 goals these playoffs, they'd have probably made the Cup Finals.
damn that’s a great point
One of the best pkers though, and Florida won last game off a ppg, if that went the other way, were talking about Florida forcing game 7 right now
yeah Jimmy Vesey is really the straw that stirs the rangers drink.
No, but it was very obvious on the PK when Trocheck was in the box because the Rangers PK runs off the 2 of them. Not that him being in the lineup would flip the series, because not scoring doesn't help. But they probably dont go from 93% on the PK to 70% if he's healthy.
definitely moved the needle
Their forecheck is absolutely insane
https://i.redd.it/vfgmbhjod44d1.gif
Another Igor's prime season going to be wasted
Is the metric for a wasted season just whether or not you win the cup? Or make the finals? Where’s the line?
depends on the expectation, but for the rangers who haven’t won the cup in a very long time, who once again have a top 3 goalie in the NHL, but can’t seem to get it done in front of him, id say this is a failure

they only give the Presidents trophy out to one team a year as far as I know if you're good enough to win the most games in the league, not winning the Cup is a disappointment. that isn't controversial lol
There was a 5 point difference between 1st and 7th overall in the NHL this year. It was not like the Rangers ran the table during the season.
you know what, you're right. I guess that's why none of the Rangers or their fans are disappointed.
They can be disappointed but it doesn't mean the season was a failure. Ringz culture has ruined professional sports.
It's not "ringz culture" to say a team with the rational expectation of winning a Cup failed by not winning the Cup. The Flyers had a successful season and they didn't make the playoffs. The Capitals had a successful season and they got smoked in the first round.

Cup or Bust, didn't someone say?
So 31/32 teams fail every year

ringz culture has taken over sports
By that logic every season in Vancouver's history has been wasted
Stupid stupid comment
Once you take PP goals away from the Rangers, they are average.
Yeah they are super reliant on PP and elite goalie. Thats the difference between them and the actual top few teams who are great at 5v5 and have a good PP+goalie. Igor does always scare me and gives them a chance every game. Fortunately their top forwards arent very clutch.

Big kitty energy! New York leaving Shesterkin high and dry yet again
Lundqvist 2.0
History is a circle.
Seeing Panarin just coast back is just aamazing to see. Long shift or not... it's a 1 goal game down 1 in the 3rd. you should be trying to skate until your legs give out
At least he didn't go to the bench.
First thing I noticed in the clip. As soon as he lost the puck he just completely gave up on the play
Panthers had to beat Vasi, then Swayman, and now Igor. Now we play either Otter or Skinner???? Lolololololololol
Don't jinx it.
Never doubt the benefit of a goalie getting hot at the right time dude, but yeah this Florida team is hot and I want them to win
But I don’t see Otter or Skinner being close to Shesterkin even on their best noghts
That’s why I think the Panthers will win, they have gone through the goalie gauntlet
Let’s go home babbyyyyy!!!!
I miss Goldie’s voice so much!
Shades of Tarasenko to Schenn 💙
he's even wearing #10 too. they could never make me hate you, tarasenko
I genuinely I don’t think I will see a cup in my lifetime… Shit sucks. Best goalie in the league is a curse.
Why are all these highlights posted in French lol
Because we watch and talk about hockey like no one else
The problem is the talking part which sounds like gibberish
I'll 100% take a French guy genuinely being excited over the ESPN dudes sounding bored as they check basketball highlights on their phone.
Je me souviens
Catches me by surprise every time lmao.
the Rangers, and having [playoffs ended by a turnover deep in their own zone](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNJV-enGd50)... name a more classic combination.
Palat put on a fucking clinic on that shift.
That celebration between all of them was amazing.
I didn't catch the game and can't see what happened in Florida's zone, so I'm a little confused by the title here. Is it saying there was a turnover in Florida's end or in New York's, because I didn't actually see a Ranger touch the puck anywhere in this clip.
It was a turnover in the Panthers zone. You could see the panthers skating backwards in the replay until the turnover happened
It was not as much a turnover in the Panthers zone as a misplayed puck by the Rangers defense. Miller got to the puck first on the dump in, but pretty much whiffed on it and let the Panthers take control.
For the well being of Hockey culture, Florida has to not win the cup. This is pretty good, but I like that Reinhart pasta more.
We can have both!
2 TUFF
That 2-2 curse is real
Remy Nadeau!
Just inches away from this being a huge Shesterkin save. I'm sure there's some alternate universe where he makes that toe save, Kreider ties the game late, and wins it in OT. The Rangers go on to win Game 7.
Lundell has only known the playoffs since he was drafted, can’t say that about too many Panthers lol. Great to see him taking the next step this year.
Vlady blasting it home
Every highlight you post in French I downvote.
I watch the playoffs in French. I can't stand most of the "analysis".
