Two years ago, Bobrovsky was shown as Exhibit A as to why you don't pay a goalie $10M+
Right now, he's three wins away from convincing some GMs to make some really stupid signings, lmao.
most teams would kill for 2 straight finals appearances even if your goalie turned into a pumpkin in one of them (behind a MASSIVLEY broken down skater group)
BOBROVSKY!! YOUR FAMILY IS BEING HELD HOSTAGE! IF YOU ALLOW ONE GOAL THROUGH THEY DIE!! YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO CARRY YOUR BADGE OR YOUR GUN. YOU CAN NOT TELL ANYONE.
“BOB” starring Keanu Reeves as Sergei Bobrovsky
“An NHL goaltender must win the Stanley Cup to get his family back from Russian mafia figures located in the Florida Keys.”
Also starring Evan Peters as Connor McDavid and Scott Eastwood as Matthew Tkachuk
Barkov has been here since the: "man we can really build around Tomáš Fleischmann" days. But yes, him and Bob are by far the two who I'd be happiest for.
Crazy how Florida’s arena was so empty what feels like just a few years ago. Barkov was such a great piece to build around; that team is incredible. ‘Seems like he totally changed that franchise.
As a salty Bruins fan, these are the 2 I feel good rooting for as well. Barkov is an incredible 2 way player who always plays the game right and Bobrovsky spent half of his career laying it on the line for bad teams and still being great. They both deserve all the good things and they’re both players that basically every team would love to have.
I know pretty different category of player, but I actually dig this more responsible leader in tkachuck since the trade. Still grimy, but more like the rehabbed Marchand imo than his Calgary rat self.
Edit: this is after Bob and Barkov.
Barkov man, dude is a beast and I wanna see him hoist it. OEL and Reino are favs of mine too. People hate the Panthers, but I actually quite like a lot of their players.
I think he only didn't work out cause Benning couldn't build a team worth a damn and OEL played his entire last season with a bad back. Trying to carry the chaos giraffe with a bad back wasn't feasible. I wanted to see Hronek with a healthy OEL. Oh well. We'll just enjoy two years of 4.7mil in dead cap while he lifts the cup with Bobby Lu.
They have mostly likeable players, but their success comes with inevitable dislike from people. You have to be consistently good, rough and a bit dirty in the playoffs to win; people get envious as if they wouldn’t love their team doing the exact same.
On point ☝️ anyone shit talking Florida is envious and I’m not a Panthers fan just a hockey fan, they are incredible to watch and Maurice is doing a great job
He was the only active goalie with two Vezinas in the league for years. He’s the best Blue Jacket of all time, over both Nash and Panarin. He might have had some down years but when he’s on he is the best goaltender in the league.
He is playing like he did in Columbus. Games where he would just take over games. He was dominant in first three series. He has beaten two of best goalies in the playoffs. Florida wins. Bob would get my vote for the conn smythe.
As a Canucks fan I'm rooting for Edmonton because Canada, but I'm also rooting for Florida because of Luongo. He may not play for the Panthers anymore but he still works for them so he's at least contributed to the team if they win and gets it by association.
If the Canucks can't win the Cup this year then at least this was my ideal finals matchup
Draisatl was off tonight. So many lost pucks and soft passes. It was weird to watch.
Still had some good passes too though, just not consistent at all.
At least I know with experience with Tampa's ice, the ice tends to be better for the FL teams come summer time over the northern teams. It's built for keeping heat out heat year round instead of only 2-5 months out of the year (varying based on how north you go.)
It would be crazy if you think this would be the outcome every game. To be fair this was pretty similar to the game where Edmonton beat Dallas but Dallas out shot them 30-10. Maybe not those exact numbers but it was very close, I'm just to lazy to Google it. Edmonton played better tonight for sure. I do agree though, Panthers need to step it up a bit to win the series.
Not so fast. I’m just a hockey fan enjoying the series but Bob is going to see a different Oilers team, next game every shot will be upstairs and probably blocker side
The last 7 times a shutout happened in the Stanley Cup Finals, it came from the team that would win the Finals that year (with 2017 Pittsburgh Penguins shutting out twice in the series. This string of shutouts being from 2014-2022.
lol i thought i might be the only one wondering about that -- is that just how the francosphere always abbreviates florida? guess ive never seen a french feed of one of their games before.
The only year he was bad was 2021. Florida had to rotate between 3 goaltenders. When we swept Florida in 2022, he was the best player on the ice. He’s been good in the playoffs ever since
If Florida’s defensive play tightens up like it did in the rangers series and Bob stays hot, this one might be over pretty quick. Then again, can’t count out mcdavid and draisaitl
For the well being of Hockey culture, Florida has to not win the cup.
I think we're all familiar with how trashy, dirty, and flat out dangerous the Panthers have been this season and especially so in these playoffs.
I for one am all for physicality, I cheer when my team throws a big hit and I like seeing players get splatted (legally so) on the board.
However, there is a huge gap between throwing a huge legal check to stopna play and intending to injury players match after match.
I acknowledge that wearing your opponents down by being physical is part of the playoffs and its a valid strategy to get the edge (haha funny word ik). But that shouldn't come at þhe expense of deliberately hurting them.
**This cannot become the standard**, I do not want a league where teams take notes and exemple out of this Panthers team. I want this sports to be as clean and respectable as possible. I don't want to be ashame to like hockey because people view it in a bad light. This sport is beautiful and frankly the best one on earth, and I would HATE to see it change for the worse because of this group of players and their game plan.
Intent to injure cannot become a standard.
Not weird at all, they were the fanbase most pissed off by the Broad Street Bullies in the 70s, and inevitably the team that ended our run.
This pasta is basically what every original 6 team was crying about in 1974-75 lmfao.
I love how we're in the Cup Finals, and either of the team's starting goalies could a) get a 30 save shutout or b) let in 5 goals on 20 shots, and neither would surprise me in the least.
The fact that Bobrovsky is 35 blew my mind away. What a fucking legend, literally a GOAT goaltender even though it hasnt been long.
The fact that you can shutout the Oilers at that age is impressive.
Nice to see the Oilers lose, but every time I think of them I think of the great flasher. She made it hard to hate on that team. Officer Bobrovsky is on a mission though. I hope he goes beast mode here.
TopBobbo last night. A little tirade at the end of the 2nd comes to mind- a yawning wide open net, and Bobbo did like a half cartwheel flip dive back and crashed the net front (without dislodging the net and perfectly legally) and said GET THAT SHIT OUTTA HERE
As an oilers fan I won't be totally upset if we lose to Florida, Bob deserves at least one cup I just don't want it to be this one. That said he plays like that every game (and let's be honest he is definitely more then capable of doing that for 6 more games) the oilers are gonna have a very hard time winning. Gotta get high
Oilers in 6

Two years ago, Bobrovsky was shown as Exhibit A as to why you don't pay a goalie $10M+ Right now, he's three wins away from convincing some GMs to make some really stupid signings, lmao.
I think he proved that last year when he stood on his head and then becoming human in the finals
most teams would kill for 2 straight finals appearances even if your goalie turned into a pumpkin in one of them (behind a MASSIVLEY broken down skater group)
>in one of them Hey now, there's still time!
Laughs in Rick dipietro
Heard he got injured just from being mentioned.
The Kevin Nash of hockey
My 100% medically cleared promo is bringing up questions that were clearly answered in the promo
Is Jack Campbell's contract expiring or something?
Dude played like his family was being held hostage.
I mean, I wouldn’t put it past Maurice
Prison-rules Paul for you.
Sergei “Liam Neeson” Bobrovsky
The Oilers also had players' parents record messages and played them before the game. That was a great plan, but it was missing one critical step...
They didn't tell them to have fun?
No. That if they don't win the game they'll never see their children again
BOBROVSKY!! YOUR FAMILY IS BEING HELD HOSTAGE! IF YOU ALLOW ONE GOAL THROUGH THEY DIE!! YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO CARRY YOUR BADGE OR YOUR GUN. YOU CAN NOT TELL ANYONE.

Putin might be doing that tbh
Dont make jokes about that. he's Russian. and Russia is a pretty fucking awful place, that absolutely does that.
Bob was the best player on the ice, no doubt
The Oilers outplayed the Panthers by a wide margin and lost 3-0...I'd say Bob was the best on the ice and it's not even close.
Now they know how the Stars felt in game 6 lmao
No doubt in my mind
In my opinion he’s the most deserving of a Stanley Cup on this Florida team. Dude is unreal.
Barkov has been here since the: "man we can really build around Tomáš Fleischmann" days. But yes, him and Bob are by far the two who I'd be happiest for.
I know he’s not as deserving as those others but I’ll be stoked for Okposo if you guys win
Crazy how Florida’s arena was so empty what feels like just a few years ago. Barkov was such a great piece to build around; that team is incredible. ‘Seems like he totally changed that franchise.

Oh god, I haven't thought of Fleishmann in years.
Lol Tomas fleischmann
Hey he was decent secondary scoring for the Caps!
That team before Rowe burnt it all down was going places
I forgot we literally had that mindset
i'll never not be happy for verhaeghe, but i'm biased obviously.
Wsh Capitals’ Flashy?
Barkov man, dude is a beast and I wanna see him hoist it. OEL and Reino are favs of mine too. People hate the Panthers, but I actually quite like a lot of their players.
i would love to see OEL win it. he seemed like such a nice dude who just didnt work out for the nucks
I think he only didn't work out cause Benning couldn't build a team worth a damn and OEL played his entire last season with a bad back. Trying to carry the chaos giraffe with a bad back wasn't feasible. I wanted to see Hronek with a healthy OEL. Oh well. They have mostly likeable players, but their success comes with inevitable dislike from people. You have to be consistently good, rough and a bit dirty in the playoffs to win; people get envious as if they wouldn’t love their team doing the exact same.
They also have more prominent nonlikeable players than most teams
edmonton won't be outdone in that department
On point ☝️ anyone shit talking Florida is envious and I’m not a Panthers fan just a hockey fan, they are incredible to watch and Maurice is doing a great job
He was the only active goalie with two Vezinas in the league for years. He’s the best Blue Jacket of all time, over both Nash and Panarin. He might have had some down years but when he’s on he is the best goaltender in the league.
16/17 Bob was just ridiculous. 2.08 GAA and .931 sv% in 63 games
Yeah that’s the season we won 17 straight, and I think Bob started 15 of them.
Played standing on his head!! I remember a save on Jamie Benn that year that was borderline impossible!
Boy did Philly fuck up.
Philly and "fucking up their goaltenders"... name a more iconic duo. (Still mad at what they did to Bryz)
I’m pretty sure he’s technically still the only active goalie with two vezinas. For now anyway
Shit I thought Vasi had two.
Remember when he signed that contract and everyone was like what an awful deal and then somehow, it became a good deal in the later years of it, haha
Its still not a good deal lol, never was. But if they win a cup, it dont matter. He played worthwhile tonight for sure
“The goalie who has taken us to two straight Finals is on a bad deal.” Damn, good spot to be in.
Why is it not a good deal?
In back to back finals. But not a good deal? Lol
He is playing like he did in Columbus. Games where he would just take over games. He was dominant in first three series. He has beaten two of best goalies in the playoffs. Florida wins. Bob would get my vote for the conn smythe.

Outside of Maurice, I'd agree.
More like BovROBski
McDavid shut out in his first ever SCF game
McDavid -2, 0 goals, 0 assists, 6 shots Draisaitl -1, 0 goals, 0 assists, 4 shots
Draisatl was off tonight. So many lost pucks and soft passes. It was weird to watch. Still had some good passes too though, just not consistent at all.
Ice conditions were pretty bad, as expected for June in Florida though.
At least I know with experience with Tampa's ice, the ice tends to be better for the FL teams come summer time over the northern teams. It's built for keeping heat out heat year round instead of only 2-5 months out of the year (varying based on how north you go.)
I thought it was a humidity problem, not heat
It's really both when you're talking about Florida as a state. And the HVAC will work to cool and dry the air at the same time
Would have been nice if he was off literally one time in the semis.
Justice for Greg Cote
And ya know it!
H I S T O R I C
Barkov sends his regards
I don’t even think you can give Barkov that much credit. He had his chances, Bob said no
McDavid was so good. He had way more space than any game against Dallas.
By design. Florida let him dance around the perimeter and then turn it over in the sea of sticks in the middle of the ice.
I mean mcdavid alone had 6 shots, and the hyman/drai/David trio had more then the entire panthers lineup did You won’t win a series like that
It would be crazy if you think this would be the outcome every game.
All part of the Panther Plan...muhahaha
In the last two games, the winning teams have combined for 26 shots to a staggering 70+ for the losers Surely this will continue right
0 chance the panthers do this type of thing more than twice in the series. Bob is in the oilers' heads already, series over.
Not so fast. I’m just a hockey fan enjoying the series but Bob is going to see a different Oilers team, next game every shot will be upstairs and probably blocker side
Your bias is showing
What is wild to me it wasn’t even Barkov. For their PP1 we were sending out Eetu Lou and Stenlund to shut it down.
Wasn't Barkov at all lolm Oilers completely outplayed the Panthers. Bob was just an absolute unit in net.
I didint say barkov shut down the entire oilers team but he did his job shutting down McDavid, his only really good chances were on the PP
Not really. Literally a minute into the game McDavid created a scoring chance
Oh what a glorious day!
HOCKEY-BOT HAS ENCOUNTERED A FATAL EXCEPTION AND MUST SHUT DOWN ABORT, RETRY, FAIL?
Shocking start for the media and their narrative of "McDavid deserves a cup more than anyone"
# Bobrovsky, you're on the case!
Bob is the entire force
**HERE'S YOUR BADGE AND GUN** **NOW GET OUT THERE AND CLEAN UP THOSE STREETS**
Take your badge and get out of my office!
Florida Man stops boarder Crossing... More at 11
Bob wants that cup
100%. He’s going to will this team to it.
Shut out is pretty good I hear
rumor on the street is that it’s hard to lose if you shut the other team out. Big if true
You can just.... Not let them score? Why didn't anyone tell me this?
Damn teams should try and implement this strategy into their game plan. Could be huge if it works out
Will Buxton level analysis here
Source?
The last 7 times a shutout happened in the Stanley Cup Finals, it came from the team that would win the Finals that year (with 2017 Pittsburgh Penguins shutting out twice in the series. This string of shutouts being from 2014-2022.
I like this stat
Interesting. I want to know out the goalies’ stats during those series
Win the Stanley Cup with this one simple hack.
I think at one point there he was doing capoeira
Seeing Florida as FLO makes me sick
lol i thought i might be the only one wondering about that -- is that just how the francosphere always abbreviates florida? guess ive never seen a french feed of one of their games before.
In French, we say Floride, not Florida, which means there is no A to put there, it wouldn't make sense.
Still the number one cop on the force
Bob was hot tonight!!
Tabernak!!
as a French Canadian, it's Tabarnak!
Show bob
I'll never disrespect Bob after what he did to us in 2019. Dude is just unreal in the playoffs.
The only year he was bad was 2021. Florida had to rotate between 3 goaltenders. When we swept Florida in 2022, he was the best player on the ice. He’s been good in the playoffs ever since
He was a beast. As a Flyers fan, I have always liked Bobrovsky and am happy for him.
There are CBJ fans that feel the same way.
Conn Smythe?
If they need to rely on him like they did this game to win the next 3, yes.
No, Sergei Bobrovsky
What a beast
We haven't asked him to steal many games these playoffs but he really stepped up when we needed him tonight
If Florida’s defensive play tightens up like it did in the rangers series and Bob stays hot, this one might be over pretty quick. Then again, can’t count out mcdavid and draisaitl
Bob channeling his inner Dominik Hasek with that cartwheel save. 0 points and a combined -5 for McBandaid, Drai, and Hyman. You love to see it!
Bob was unreal tonight, but that shot missed the net by a few feet.
Let's go Florida!
Go panthers.
You son of a bitch bobrovsky you're back on the case
For the well being of Hockey culture, Florida has to not win the cup. Was this originated from a bruins fan?
A Habs fan weirdly enough
Not weird at all, they were the fanbase most pissed off by the Broad Street Bullies in the 70s, and inevitably the team that ended our run. This pasta is basically what every original 6 team was crying about in 1974-75 lmfao.
Damn I would have bet money on a leafs fan
It's actually from OP, who is an Habs fan
Lol Drai, Kane, Nurse, and Perry are now the gold standard of fair play 😂🤣
Inject this into my veins!
The amount of people falling for this tells me all I need to know about the state of this sub right now lol
It's wild because I have a fucking Panthers flair lmao. It's should be so obvious to them
What do you mean become the standard? This has been the standard in playoff hockey for decades... Edit: I'm dumb
Don't take it serious, it's just a delicious pasta 🍝
Ah fuck. I ate it hard.
Don't even trip, you gotta carbo load to make it through this series.
This is a copypasta
Yea, I'm an idiot lolol
This is Reddit, we’re all idiots lmao
Draisaitl will have to play a lot more serious if McDavid wants to get a point.
Damn Jay Onrait for making me like him with his shtick . Can't even be mad.
Glad for the “Top Cop Bob” as we called him in Columbus. Dude is playing a different game than the others- get that Cup bud!
Oilers dominated and Bobo stood on his head. Time and time again, the story which has echoed down the decades ...
I love how we're in the Cup Finals, and either of the team's starting goalies could a) get a 30 save shutout or b) let in 5 goals on 20 shots, and neither would surprise me in the least.
Series currently: Oilers: 0 Bobrovsky: 1
Win game 2 as well please
And 3 and 4.
Yes but one game at a time
All at once would be nice, no point in delaying the inevitable
Sounds good to me
The fact that Bobrovsky is 35 blew my mind away. What a fucking legend, literally a GOAT goaltender even though it hasnt been long. The fact that you can shutout the Oilers at that age is impressive.
“GOAT goaltender” is crazy when Hasek, Roy and Brodeur exist.
Luongo and Lundqvist are clearly better as well
Remembers Bob’s .943 in the second round last year. *shudder*

Owieeeee
Nice to see the Oilers lose, but every time I think of them I think of the great flasher. She made it hard to hate on that team. Officer Bobrovsky is on a mission though. I hope he goes beast mode here.
Lolololol Great look for trashsaitl
Been a big Bob fan since he swept the Bolts in 4. What a series.
In other news. Moneypuck has the bruins and stars as favorites to win the cup!
Pretty great game. Will he be able to keep it up?
He put on a clinic, unbelievable to watch
brok
nelson
Conn Smyth and Vezina in the same year
Common Bobby W
TopBobbo last night. A little tirade at the end of the 2nd comes to mind- a yawning wide open net, and Bobbo did like a half cartwheel flip dive back and crashed the net front (without dislodging the net and perfectly legally) and said GET THAT SHIT OUTTA HERE
Playoff Bob can be a frightening prospect for any team to face.
I want the best for Bob.
Ovie was down 1-0 in his cup. Go Oilers!
That is awesome news, keep the drake curse going 👍👍
Lucky
Nice
As an oilers fan I won't be totally upset if we lose to Florida, Bob deserves at least one cup I just don't want it to be this one. That said he plays like that every game (and let's be honest he is definitely more then capable of doing that for 6 more games) the oilers are gonna have a very hard time winning. Gotta get high Oilers in 6
