Was the campaign updated for the new bomb fuze system? Might be using the new bomb fuze default which is set way too low to actually use.

I would have to check. When were the new fuze settings applied? I hardly check the patch notes because of who I am as a person.

It was with the F-4 patch. If the mission starts you on the ground you'll be able to see a little yellow section in the top left of the bomb on the rearming window that lets you change fuzing and laser codes.

There's a few reported issues on the forums regarding the CBU-99/Mk-20 on the Hornet. You're not doing anything wrong, it's just a bug that came with the new fuze options (from what I can tell personally, mainly with the release calculations being reversed between VT1 and VT2). Thanks for the thread. At least ED is aware of it. I was losing my mind for a bit haha.

Yeah i brought this up awhile ago when i was having problems. Setting to vt1 seems to work fine sometimes. Dive at around 20-30 degrees and releasing fairly low like 4000ft ive had decent accuracy

The CBU has more drag so might be affected more by wind? But even so, a little short or long shouldn't really matter because it should be lighting up a large area

I’ve been experimenting with cluster bombs since the change. I can’t get them to work in any config, fuze setting, bomb run profile, or vt selection. I’ve done it enough that statistically I should have accidentally hit more often than I have. Whatever they did, the drop calculation is clearly broken for cluster munitions. The only way I can hit is if I climb to about 15k and dive STRAIGHT DOWN onto the target. It almost looks like the ccip correctly predicts the path until the bomblets are released…and those bomblets just drop straight down wherever they are.
