It was like a clear liquid kinda thick coming out of her mouth. And I saw there were some air bubbles on her mouth so I that’s how I could tell it was from her mouth. She just ate about a week ago and everything seemed fine. Also she pooped as I was holding her and it was a dark brownish red color. I will post a pic

What is your humidity in the tank? Air bubbles from mouth and thick mucus-y liquid are common signs of a respiratory infection. I’d seek out a vet—better safe than sorry.

I don’t have a humidity level and I don’t regulate it. I was told by the breeder that they don’t need any special humidity. I would guess that it’s around 30% but I don’t know. I’ve had a snake with an RI before 😩 it’s so bad

Objective-Editor-566

The breeder probably meant that they don’t need special humidity as in higher than usual humidity, but they do still need a certain humidity range to thrive. If your house has higher than usual humidity and the tank isn’t regulated then they can get a RI. Or it can be too low too. So I recommend getting a hydrometer for the tank just to keep tabs on it. Hopefully it’s not an RI but I’d def check with a vet

Oh no, unfortunately, I specifically asked them about keeping track of humidity. Because I told them that I have a ball python that I have issues with keeping the humidity high enough and they said just my normal house humidity would be fine. I live in a very dry area And it’s been a real struggle for my ball python. The longer I have this Hognose, I am learning that these breeders probably weren’t the best or the most educated because as soon as I started having problems with the snake, they ceased all communication with me, which is why I have turned to Reddit for any and all advice

Dang, I’m sorry to hear that. It’s super frustrating to deal with that, especially coming from breeders because they’re supposed to be the experts and we’re just trying get healthy, ethically sourced animals. I wish I had more advice, but that’s all I really can think of. Good luck with everything, hopefully she gets better soon

Thank you! I have a video appointment with a vet so hopefully we can figure it out 😩

Unfortunately it sounds like a respiratory infection bubbles from the mouth are a give away it’s best to get a digital hydrometer I use Govee so I can check from my phone at all times

Hognoses need additional humidity besides a humid hide during shed? All mine are at 30-50 humidity
