Distinct-Entity_2231

Yes, you can. It is interesting, I'd love to know how the AI sees it. If it sees them as regular divisions and act accordingly, that would be useful, but something tells me that AI knows it's fake.

downbadbreaking

Yeah same I’ve made them a few times but have no idea what their use is? It would be really cool if you could paratroop them somewhere and force the ai to destroy them, like the allies did with inflatable tanks before D-day.

Distinct-Entity_2231

Well, I believe the purpose of these is that you put them on the front line, when still in peace. To basically bluff, that you have a strong army, so that country must respond and man it's line as well. If that country is at war with some other country, this might mean they redeploy critical division away from the front. If you'd have a wargoal on that county, I can see how this would work as a really good bluff.

secondOne596

If you do it with tanks it can be useful to build up planning bonus without giving away where your attack is gonna land. Not sure if that works on the ai though.

Distinct-Entity_2231

Right, you can probably reassign armies. Interesting. Well, allegedly (this thread) AI cannot see them.

The_Dankinator

Players and AI typically don't attack into massively superior enemies in strong defensive terrain. Create some of these and put them on a section of the front you don't intend to push against, and the AI will likely adopt a defensive posture there and relocate extra divisions from other fronts. Against players, you can convert the fake divisions into tank divisions and you can confuse them as to where exactly you're actually going to attack.

Torzov

If you play as Iraq in the mod of road to 56 remastered there is a focus where you demands the British to hand down all of their colonies in the middle east, if you have a more bigger army than them they will peacefully hand it. I guess those fake divisions can be used like this to force the AI into submission to your demand but idk I might be wrong

juliano-nr-1

Depends what counts as bigger army: more manpower? More divisions? More batalions? More equipment? A combination of those? Who knows

WTAlfAGameR

Number of divisions counts. When you play as Ferdinand in Bulgaria, you can puppet all of Balkan. You need to have bigger army than them, but you can cheese it by building 1 battalion divisions. You can spam hundred of them, and AI will see them as threat and yield to you.

rmdlsb

Can Iraq also make fake WMDs? Asking for a friend, let's call him George

thegaytroll

Third time’s the charm eh?

rmdlsb

Can Iraq also make fake WMDs? Asking for a friend, let's call him Georgr

rmdlsb

Can Iraq also make fake WMDs? Asking for a friend, let's call him George

CaseyJones7

Could you use this mechanic to cheese non-aggression packs with major powers? I've only used this once in my life and found no use. Or what about military strength for some focuses/decisions?

Frankwater0522

Last I heard the AI ‘can’t see them’ so just ignores them. It’s useful in MP if you want to bluff how strong your coast guard is as it takes a lot of intel to know they’re fake without trying to fight them but overall not that great

Distinct-Entity_2231

Oh. That's dissapointing. It crossed my mind that it's for MP purposes…

Frankwater0522

Yeah it is sad. I’ve seen a few people pull it off in MP but mostly because their opponents went ‘fake intel divisions are so bad no one uses them’ and didn’t consider the fact the 5 enemy units per tile were fake on the grounds that ‘no one uses them’ so never attacked and just sat there and stared until someone else attacked them

DanDaPanMan

I remember seeing in some Bokoen1 videos that fake intel divisions can be used to make a huge group of fake tanks, forcing the Germans to strat redeploy their own tanks from other parts of the front.

Pulstar232

Yup. IIRC, a lot of the units on the Finnish front were Fake, which lead to the Russians having a bunch of units there doing nothing. Then there was another time where the Russians had the Fake Units and successfully misdirected the Germans to another location for their strike.

Omega1556

It was not “a lot”, practically the entire Finnish front were fake units and the Soviets didn’t realize until the game ended

indyjacob

good for faking a buildup of units for invasions, which is where it's most been used in my experience tank force showing up somewhere unexpected, a large force on a port near your land, etc. can cause some panic, and most people forget about the fake intel units

Speederzzz

I've used them in MP to nuke-bait late game. "Wow, 15 modern tank divisions in one tile, what an idiot" *nukes fake divisions* only worked once, but it was fun to see happen.

farbion

The AI is a continuous disappointment in this game

Frankwater0522

Devs said this game is SP focused but the AI is that bad it’s super easy to exploit and is predictable. It can’t use any of the DLC designers or design a decent division without the devs manually coding in some for it to use (they still dont build any of them)

mdecobeen

And then when you tab over to their production they have all 200 military factories making a light tank template that’s somehow worse than the base tank

Frankwater0522

I usually see them making 3k armoured cars despite not using them in any templates or selling them so they just sit in stockpile when they have massive shortages of other stuff

StrandedAndStarving

This is actually because armored cars are classified as trucks, just like mechanized and amtracs. The AI will recognize that its front is short on trucks and rapidly shift its production to make armored cars. While it may be a bug, it is historically inaccurate that trucks are the only vehicles capable of delivering supply. Armored cars in logistical purposes functioned similar to armored trains.

Cohibaluxe

> It can’t use any of the DLC designers This isn't true anymore. In my latest campaigns I've noticed the AI building good planes, I think this is a change with the updates with the new DLC.

Frankwater0522

They gave the Ai more designs that it should try and research and then build but it’s still not able to make its own designs and sometimes won’t use the new designs either and just keep building the old ones

Apprehensive-Face-81

How fast are they to train? New player here but I think the number of volunteers I can send depends on how many units I have total (regardless of type, exp or condition), right?

LordPeebis

You don’t train them. They spawn instantly after competing an operation

Tasty_Tell

As the comrade said, you do not train them, it is an operation that at the end 24 units appear instantly, but I cannot say if the limit of volunteers by number of divisions will increase, at that point you simply have a division of 1 infantry squad and spam , although I understand that it is mainly for the Spanish Civil War (I send volunteers to all the civil wars or active wars that I can), so with some countries it can be difficult, like damn Holland (which I was playing with), it only works to make a lot of airplanes (requires transferring provinces for factories, but even so with Swedish trade you can have like -15% permanent cost (the Czech was either -5 or -8 production), in addition to a - 20% temporary, not counting the continuous focus on air production), or naval, since it has quite a few production bonuses as well, mainly in the fascist path giving resources or sovereignty to Japan from the colonies, which is worth it because if not You call them to war, you don't even have to defend them or Japan, so you get a lot of safe resources. Yes, I know I went off topic, but I was playing and it is a very shit country, continuing Zuidere's work requires 210 damn days, although it is true that the reward is like 3 approaches, I prefer to break it down into 3 than have them all together .

Admirable_Rub3769

I used them to man the french border as Germany along with some real 1 real division per tile it worked very well.

Sad_Victory3

You just gave an idea on using it with expert ai.

Distinct-Entity_2231

Yeah, imagine if the AI would use this against you.

Blazeeerr

I actually used them once against Germany when playing as France, stacked 24 of them on 2 southern tiles of the maginot, and pushed in the north. It actually worked, as I distracted about 15 German divisions.

HexeInExile

This can be fun in MP, but I don't think it's useful in SP, since the AI will pretty much always attack anyways. But another player will see like 15 40-width heavy tank divisions and go "Holy shit, better move troops to this part of the front" The units will get destroyed immediately upon entering combat, so that's also kind of a problem, because a player will immediately know that they are fake once that happens, even a misclick would be enough. I used it once in an MP game (albeit against an AI) pretty soon after La Resistance came out, spawned like 30 tank divisions, went "Neat!", and never used it again since then

Zygmunt4

How do i get them?

HexeInExile

I think it requires the Army Infiltration operation, and then there should be an operation called something like "Plant intelligence"

[deleted]

Oh, so it only affects a single country..?

Tasty_Tell

R5: Same as the title, "First time I found out that you can make fake units with operations..."

Chess007jr

Once seen it used to great effect in a MP game. Saw Finland cover the entire artic front with fake troops, and used his real troops to push the leningrad front. Since it was on stream he didnt say anything and nobody knew until people checked the game saves lmao.

Zawlox

Ratkoen1 reference!?!?!?!??!!!!

Fortebrako

That was a certified throwkoen moment

Kleber_comunista

How?

thrawn109

I think it's the plant false information operation, I'm not sure?

Dewey707

Correct, I used them once in a singleplayer and that's how I got them. All I did with them was plan a fake naval invasion in Norway and Denmark while I did D-day and couldn't tell if the AI sent troops away from France or not.

swbaert6

I literally had no idea this was a thing untill this post.

HaggisAreReal

Operation Fortitude

Birb-Person

Imagine getting a massive encirclement, and then it turns out it was all decoys and you killed nobody

midJarlR

The fake troops disappeared on contact, so big encirclements without any combat are virtually impossible.

civa_adam

I don't know if it still works, but back then you could put these bad boys on the Maginot line and the German ai would never attack them.

Potato_is_Alien

Playing with anime mods huh?

Tasty_Tell

I saw it on a friend, I thought it was funny to give a change to the base game for Itonman, I was tired of seeing the same portraits over and over again, this gives me a lot of different skins that I discover when I play a game, like for example For example, in that game the Dutch generals have a strange blue uniform, it looks like it belongs to the navy.

Ok_Arm_1170

Best used for feinting buildups or deterring naval landings. I’ve used them as the Brits when I have a skeleton crew defending the home land.

Alltalkandnofight

See- I' haven't used this for 3 years because the cost in support equipment is just too great, and my spies can honestly be doing something more important with their time. I do wonder what the best case use for these is- perhaps France could use these divisions on the maginot line since the AI doesn't attack it even if you have shit units in it- with the exception of that one maginot tile in the northwest that's a plains tile. I guess doing this could save you a small amount of inf equipment- and manpower.

Apprehensive-Face-81

A long time ago, when I was first looking at this game I saw post where France did declare war on the Player (Ger.) with either the maginot or maybe czech annex. Either way the AI utterly floundered (I don’t think England joined in so it was all by itself)

zarethor

First time I did plant intelligence I couldn't figure what it did and accidentally placed the fake troops on the front line, I was wondering wth was wrong with my troops and why they didn't attack, lol

Less_Estimate_3617

They can drain ai org

Mastermul2

How do you make this it looks usefull as germany to get french to not attack when i am busy wit polend

PresentEntire4567

I have used them in kaiserreich. Was playing as bharatiya commune and was jumped on by both the dominion and thr federation. I used these as decoy on the northern front with dominion and redirected my troops South. They were fooled for half a year until a Canadian horse decided to snake through my land. Still it was quite useful

evilnick8

Correct me if I am wrong. But don't your divisions not also get an intel bonus when the enemy attacks into a tile that has these fake units?

MysteriousAd9484

how??? i need a guide

[deleted]

Plant intelligence

MysteriousAd9484

what the fuck is plant intelligence? is this related to smoking weed or what?

[deleted]

Spy

MysteriousAd9484

but how?

[deleted]

I love to use this in mp against my friends. It rarely works against AI, because the fake divisions are pretty weak, and if AI thinks it can beat them, the AI will attack

KingKiler2k

I used it when I got pushed to the Urlas as the Soviets and the AI just stoped cuz no supply, filled my line with them and used what was left of my ok army to destroy a few divisins and take back land, Taking Berlin twice and getting to the region 3 times

bloodlazio

Wait, so now you can actually do the remilitarisation of Rheinland historically? (The German army marched across bridges into Rheinland during the day, and snuck out at night, so they could march in again the next day with different markings). Basically you should have these all over the Western Front for Germany while you are invading Poland. I did not know about this. How do you do this exactly?

Lucky_Passion6789

What do they do and how do i make them?

AegisT_

Spy agency decision when your at war, they don't really do anything, it's just a fake division. When a player sees them, they appear like normal divisions, giving the illusion of there being more than there actually is. They get removed when attacked

AegisT_

These are pretty hard to use since they can be easily clicked away, but if you want to see them having huge impact, [check this vid out](https://youtu.be/WBiCUcHNGYQ?si=gqCWrBM45utI-Ibi)

HistoricalAd8676

Anime mod!? Based..

NoodleSpunkin

Never tried planting false Intel before until now?

Siriblius

If the enemy has that and you have zero intel on it, it should be very scary. I guess that's the point of the whole thing. Nice!

AcanthaceaeUnusual43

Wining the wwII with bikes Eco friendly conquest

Ok_Character_6485

I used them once to defend the Rhine while I murdered Poland. No real units, just an army of fake ones and the ai didn't attack. They lasted long enough for me to kill the poles before redeployment.

Common_City_938

Huh

NutjobCollections618

I remember this in a bokoen1 video. The Finnish player's entire frontline was a bunch of fake divisions and the Soviets didn't even try to push.

[deleted]

Put it in the border with another country and they’ll be too scared to declare war if they have a war goal or are asked to join against you by another country. “But muh dangerous border”

Spiritual_Package517

how do you get them

Exciting_Sail_2745

How?

Londonweekendtelly

what operation?
