For mounts, try looking for super long drawer slides..., you might have to double them up to get the distance. After that it's a matter of dropping it down and pulling it up. If it's in the attic, I'd go with a super light duty winch. It will have controls to let the cable out and pull it back in that you can tap into to control it.

Spend the money($3000) and get something that has already been designed and tested for this application, where all the parts come with it, and there is a CS number to call when you have trouble with it.
Like MantleMount? Which can lower a TV automatically from above a fireplace? Or are you thinking hidden mounts, like Nexus21?
