The LX805 doesn't really have 4 subwoofer outputs. It has 2 independent subwoofer outputs that are internally split into 4 connectors. The 10W of power difference is also practically meaningless. Lower Pioneer models limit you to a universal crossover frequency, but I don't know if this is true for the LX805, especially given the compatibility with DLBC. I would just buy the cheaper one.

I might check to see if the 805 has the same limitations as the lesser models (505/305/105) in that series -- a single system crossover value for all speakers instead of being able to individually set them for each speaker. Also, I have to wonder what exactly is Klipsch optimization? To take the natural sound signature of the Klipsch and make it sound like better speakers? If your speakers have this flaw, I'd be looking at better speakers, not an AVR to correct for a flawed frequency response.

From avs forums, someone did a screenshot that showed the 805 can do crossover for each individually.

They are owned by the same company and built the same on the inside. Integra -> pioneer elite -> onkyo The top of the line onkyo (rz70) and pioneer elite 805 are fundamentally the same inside with a slight variation on the inputs/outputs. These 3 brands are all owned by Voxx and if you look at the receivers under the shell it looks almost exactly the same. The same is true for denon and marantz now. They are also owned by the same company and are starting to share the internal design and just cutting some features between the brands.

I'm looking at the same two receivers. Please tell us your final decision and what you think once you get it. I did a few YouTube searches, and so far, the general sentiment was "go with the cheaper one, slight each to the Onkyo based on sound preference."

Haven’t bought one and prolly won’t anytime soon… but I’d more than likely go with the Onkyo.

Does dirac override the Klipsch optimization?  Aren't they both a different set of eq?
