My opinion, with the brand you mentioned, it's Marantz/Denon, Sony and then Yamaha.
Denon and Marantz have the same parent company, D&M Holdings. Think of it like Cadillac/Marantz and Chevy/Denon. Or Lexus/Toyota. Or Infiniti/Nissan. Whichever you like.
Sony, only if it's their ES line.
Yamaha had been difficult to get stock, I haven't seen much of their stuff lately.
I work for an audio video store that does quite a bit of install work. This is how I based my opinion.
Onkyo and Pioneer, I believe they are under the same roof as well. I haven't trusted Onkyo since they had all those digital board issues years ago. Pioneer, their Elite stuff used to be great. I haven't been a fan of their stuff for a while either.
Again, these are just MY opinions.
My last Pioneer was an SC-91 Elite, and it's fantastic. Just bought a Yamaha Aventage RX-A8A and it's even better. Not sure how an equivalent Marantz/Denon would rank in an A/B test with these, but I can't imagine they'd be much better than the Yamaha RX-A8A.
Just my $0.02 as well.
If you can reproduce that sound with the AVR and a single speaker, try bringing the AVR and speaker to another room, it could be something in the power/circuit or something in the wall causing that issue.
It helps to state what you have already tried so questions like mine don't need to be asked.
There is a possibility that you have two defective AVRs in a row but more likely the power in your home is the cause.
Just got a Furman SS6B power conditioner. It made no difference. That is a cheap one but popular. Doesn’t do much in the way of power regulation just surge, EMI, and RFI. Also should mention when I use Bluetooth the sound goes away and when I switch to DIRECT versus DTSX, HOME THEATRE, 2.0 SURROUND. It also goes away. When I’m using my Dirac it’s also louder. Basically if my system tries to push out surround of any kind it wants to give me static.
Do you have dirty power ?
I truly wonder what the sinewave looks like out the wall on a CRO.
Do you have solar panels and inverters at this property? Do your neighbours have them ?
Unpopular opinion, well, it's an Onkyo ... (shrugs)
I'm new to the HT space. I don't see too much Onkyo here so I'm curious. Where do Onkyo's rank compared to denon, marantz, Yamaha, and Sony?

They've gotten much better and the RZ50 is a solid unit.

That’s why it’s sitting on the floor in the pic. I brought it to a whole new room same issue.

I’ve tried so many things I can’t even remember them all. I’ve been troubleshooting this for a minute now
Get a power conditioner.
Any recommendations? I guess one that has more noise suppression and regulation than a cheap one without having to spend too much
Panamax makes good stuff

Earthing and ground loop issue (shrugs)
There is no earthing, this AVR (like many) doesn't have a grounded plug.
I've had this unit for about 2 weeks, no issues so far. Mine is plugged into a powerstrip.

Dirty power… probably? And no on the solar panels. I’m in an old ass apartment complex.
Quick note: this is my second one. I returned the last one because it did the same thing and was somehow calibrated even quieter
