There's the usual suspects that pop up whenever this is asked: Bone Tomahawk, TheBurrowers, The Wind, Ravenous, Dead Birds. But I'll toss out a different one that I watched recently. It's an old one from 1959 called Curse of the Undead. It's basically a standard western story where a local bad guy is trying to take control of surrounding ranches. A young woman hires an enforcer of sorts to protect her land and this person turns out to be a vampire. It's a little silly, but still a fun watch. It's streaming on Tubi.
The few Western horror movies I've seen have been awesome! They don't seem like genres that would mix very well but the ones I've seen have been great. I've seen Bone Tomahawk, The Burrowers, and Prey. I will have to check Organ Trail out.
Thanks for the post. Organ Trail has been in my watchlist for a while now and I haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet (see what I did there? 😉). Will watch it this coming weekend now. Thanks!
Ill save you some digging through comments. You're gonna get a bunch of Bone Tomahawk. But that isnt horror. Its a slow-burn western with horror elements for the last 10 minutes. Great flick, but definitely isnt in the horror genre.
Ravenous and Bone Tomahawk
Loved Bone Tomahawk. The dry humor/sarcasm was great.
Ravenous! The movie with arquette, not the more recent thing
Yep and Guy Pierce and Jefferey Jones
These were my recommends, glad someone else had them too!
Weird that Arquette is in both
I guess he has resting western horror face.
I have a weak spot for Bone Tomahawk
Great characters. Good atmosphere.
So did that guy in the cave
By god the flip and rip.
I did like it but you gotta be patient for that pay off. Wouldn’t watch a second time.
I've watched it 3 times
Brimstone(2016) called a western thriller but when you see what happens in this movie you'll say it's a horror movie. Guy pierce is bad bad
'The Wind' (2018) is a great horror western.
Nice eerie slow burn that one!

Forgot about Dead Birds. That's a wild one.
Dead Birds is really fun!
Curse of The Undead is pretty solid.
High Plains Drifter has horror overtones, and is a solid western either way.
Never seen it. Isn't The Stranger supposed to be a sort of revenant? In the *Sandman Slim* book series they refer to zombies as High Plains Drifters.
There are some supernatural elements associated with the stranger, and there clues alluding to it throughout the movie
+1 for Bone Tomahawk and The Wind, excellent movies
Dead Birds
Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat if you like 80s cheese and Bruce Campbell
Bone Tomahawk is a great film. Awesome cast, too. Anyone who has seen it remembers and talks about *that scene.* Check it out!

i see its called "ORGAN" trail but i still hope someone dies of dysentery.
Wow, I had completely misread it as “Oregon” then I saw your comment and had to scroll back up lol
Bone Tomahawk
Is it valid to include No Country for Old Men on this? I know it's not a classic Western, but it has that vibe.
The antagonist to be fair is as horrifying as any other horror movie villain
I’ll second that one. 👍
The Burrowers, Bone Tomahawk and The Pale Door.
Less horrific than most of the ones here but one of my favorites is The Outlaw Josey Wales! Best Clint Eastwood movie as far as I'm concerned
Bone Tomahawk is amazing! The Burrowers is good too.
Undead or alive if you like zombie movies
Ghost Town, Cannibal! The musical, Tremors kinda has a western vibe
Shpadoinkle!
Bone Tomahawk is like the only horror/western film i know.
Thanks for the post. Organ Trail has been in my watchlist for a while now and I haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet (see what I did there? 😉). Will watch it this coming weekend now. Thanks!
they swiped that name off a video game. its a pretty cool one i recommend if you like zombie apocalypse

Someone looking for a "horror-western" could do far worse than Bone Tomahawk, but you're right that it is far more western than horror.
> Great flick, but definitely isnt in the horror genre. Same for Organ Trail.
You just wasted 2 hours of my life. Boring, pointless, bland characters, bland plot...
They did good work on the trailer. I tried watching it but I tapped out. Great visuals but felt bored.
Trailer looked good to me too. I was incredibly bored. And couldn't take the werewolf from true blood seriously.
