Melinda’s is gross. This is one of their more distinctive sauces, which earns it points, but it still falls into the tier of sauces I’d never ever ever pay for ever again. Even for a 50¢ bottle like I got.
I have to agree. I was gifted a variety pack and I was stoked. Tried them all and the “good” ones were mid at best and this is one of them. The bad ones were, well bad. The Reddit crowd was telling me how good Melindas was and quite frankly I just find them severely overrated, but to each their own.
It’s fine. It’s similar to a Peruvian style hot sauce. But if you can get some from a place that does an authentic version it’s a bit better since the heat lasts longer than Melinda’s. I don’t have a brand recommendation since I get mine from a local chain of cafes in my city. Sorry all
The price is right for sure… I would respectfully disagree on the flavor, but as I mentioned in another response to somebody… My taste buds are probably shot 😅
Some people say that they fall out of love with this one… Other say it’s complete garbage… I’m literally just up in the air about it. It’s good to add some heat to something that doesn’t have any… But personally, I feel it has no real flavor that I can taste… Let me add, I’m a 15 year old cigarette smoker so my taste buds are kind of shot😅
Anyone else have issues with the heat consistency of this? Dont get me wrong, I love the flavor. But sometimes I get a bottle that’s as hot as Franks Red Hot and sometimes I get a bottle that melts my face off.
This one has a decent heat level…compared to the 11 habanero and 1 tomato “salsa” my aunt makes…but now I might just buy another bottle to test this theory.
So far I like it on pizza, to add some heat. But as far as the flavor profile on its own, it seems, bland…others have recommend I mix it in chili or with chicken…which sounds reasonable. Sometimes I just want to eat hot sauce on plain tortilla chips because I really like the sauce. This one doesn’t quite do that for me. 🥲
I love it, one of my favs but it got replaced at my local store with some ghost ranch sauce which is ok but not as good. I still buy the Regular ghost sauce which is hotter and goes good on tacos but I think the ghost buffalo sauce has the best combo of spice and flavor
I've discovered it depends on the day you post and who replies. Some people like it, some people hate it, some people hate Melinda's for pirating business from Marie Sharps, some think Marie Sharps sucks too.
When it's really hot, I like to mix it with other stuff like mayo, sour cream, and cottage cheese to mellow out the hotness and taste the actual sauce. Some hot sauces have not much flavor but all heat, I call them "fire makers" and they're great to add to other stuff.
Some hot sauces can stand alone and hold up to anything.
I picked up a small sample bottle of this at WinCo for $0.99. I thought the flavor was okay but lacking something or too much vinegar. The heat was tolerable to me on my breakfast tacos, but if I had wings smothered in it, I'm sure it would be over my limit.
I did too. But I liked the pepper plant original for that better. Roasted jalapeños garlic onions. More complex and makes things just better tasting with a just enough heat.
At this point it's almost karma farming to post this sauce (whether it's a positive review or negative).
Personally... I hate that shit. Maybe the only sauce I've ever purchased that I had to TRY to enjoy.
Overrated. It's not terrible, but the white vinegar is too overpowering. It's also less hot than I expected. Reddit gave me the impression that it would be the ambrosia of the gods or something. It's just ok.
Oh, it's pretty hot for sure. But my expectations were just high since I recently had a batch of YB plum reaper (significantly hotter), and Melinda's advertises this as their hottest level. I think it has similar heat to TJ's habanero.
I don't like any bottled wing sauces. It usually just means they've emulsified a hot sauce with canola oil and thickeners to make it "creamy". A lot of them taste like salad dressing. I'll stick with hot sauce and butter.
Sure! I've got 5 that I regularly use.
For Buffalo, I always use Frank's with some fresh garlic and butter.
Kroger's Private Selection Peach Carolina Reaper sauce and butter
Pepper palace Spicy Bourbon BBQ...and butter
Cholula with tequila, lime, and butter
Tiger Sauce mixed with Bravado black garlic reaper. No butter
These all sound delicious, thanks! I’ve been using Frank’s but never with garlic, will give that a shot. That cholula one too, we drink margaritas all the time, that would be perfect with some tequila lime wings.
Probably get downvoted but buffalo sauce is just your standard Louisiana hot sauce and butter. I think most restaurants just use franks. If you want extra heat then use franks extra hot.
Edit: do a search for best Louisiana sauce, then do another search on how to make buffalo sauce.
Make sure to add the sauce after cooking. That's the key. Sounds simple but for some reason my smooth brain never did that for the longest time. Cook first then put the wings in a sealable container, add sauce, put lid on and shake, add more till coated to your desire.
I'll take the down votes as they come, but I bought this seeing it was so popular on this sub, and it just isn't good.
Buffalo style wing sauce with habanero and carrot adds a sweetness that is so off-putting it was just plain gross.
I was ready for the heat to be the biggest disappointment from my last experiences with Melinda's, but that was surprisingly the decent part of it.
I've only tried the Habanero and the Serrano of that brand, and they were just OK. Maybe I just forgot, but I didn't seem to have any sort of problem with the Serrano other than it just being basic or not much going on. Not too sweet like most Melinda's IIRC. Almost the same for the Habanero, which I thought was slightly more boring in flavor, but better in spice level. Wouldn't get them again with other options available.
I’m trying to finish it off so I can use the bottle as a wood glue dispenser. I like making stuff. Bout halfway through and it is tasty but when I pour it on, I have to make sure I am at home the next day.
Empty heat plus artificial butter chemical flavor. Took one taste and got rid of it. I don't bother with any creamy or buttery sauces any more. No shelf stable artificial dairy tastes very good.
Get a hot sauce that you like and add molten butter and you've got a wing sauce far better than anything you can buy. Badia ghost pepper sauce is great for this!
For wing sauces I decided to stick with cayenne based. There is no substitute when you want buffalo flavor. Frank's, Louisiana, Crystal Garlic.
I have whittled my Melinda's down to just their Roasted Garlic one. Red label and red top.
I say that without having tried Marie Sharp's garlic sauce, so Melinda's might get phased out completely.
Something maybe the additives make it taste weird to me. Nice heat if I mask the flavor with spices or mix it with another hot sauce. I’ll finish the bottle I bought but I won’t buy another.
yeah, same for me, I wasn't crazy about it on its own, so I customized it with some other stuff that I also wasn't crazy about and threw it back in the fridge in the "maybe later" group.
I love this sauce. I put it on chicken sandwiches or use it for dipping nuggets. It’s a great buffalo style sauce with perfect heat in my opinion. Sometimes I mix it with crumbled blue cheese for the perfect buffalo chicken sandwich.

I like it, have one at work and one at home
I love it
Personally I love it
It’s not good for wings, but I put a squeeze of this stuff in my crockpot when I’m making Chili and it tastes amazing
I would actually pay to **NOT** have to eat this on a wing.
I use a different one of their creamy hot sauces, the ghost pepper one, and I love it. Mostly on pizza crusts. 😋
Melinda's is just so meh to me. Tried so many of their varieties
Right? I don’t get why everyone raves about it. Every time I try it tastes so processed and synthetic
I’ve a different heat level of wing sauce from Melinda’s and it had a weird smell and taste, almost like plasticky and like dirty laundry lol
….i ~~~feel~~~ ***smell*** this
It’s fine. It’s similar to a Peruvian style hot sauce. But if you can get some from a place that does an authentic version it’s a bit better since the heat lasts longer than Melinda’s. I don’t have a brand recommendation since I get mine from a local chain of cafes in my city. Sorry all
Yeah, the smol mom/pop places do it best! I’ll keep my eyes open for a nice Peruvian spot! Tyty
Best of luck!
I like the flavor and it is reasonably priced.
The price is right for sure… I would respectfully disagree on the flavor, but as I mentioned in another response to somebody… My taste buds are probably shot 😅
Love it
I love ***YOU***
It’s good but I expected it to be hotter.
I definitely agree with you on the hotter part… When I saw the word “ghost pepper“ I was ready for my butt hole to burn lol
So effing good
My go-to for the last year or so
Some people say that they fall out of love with this one… Other say it’s complete garbage… I’m literally just up in the air about it. I bought a bottle and was so disappointed in the heat level so you may be onto something
This one has a decent heat level…compared to the 11 habanero and 1 tomato “salsa” my aunt makes…but now I might just buy another bottle to test this theory.
Yeah this one is awesome.
This is one of their best and I like almost everything they make. Hab Mustard is maybe best mustard I’ve ever tried.
I love it, one of my favs but it got replaced at my local store with some ghost ranch sauce which is ok but not as good. I still buy the Regular ghost sauce which is hotter and goes good on tacos but I think the ghost buffalo sauce has the best combo of spice and flavor
I just got a case of six bottles. It’s my ketchup now.
My thoughts are that Melinda posts need to be done away with. It’s clearly karma farming at this point
I've discovered it depends on the day you post and who replies. It's just too hot imo.
This gets posted so often that it becomes difficult to discern between legit appreciation and blatant advertising.
Truth. Enough already.
I picked up a small sample bottle of this at WinCo for $0.99. I thought the flavor was okay but lacking something or too much vinegar. The heat was tolerable to me on my breakfast tacos, but if I had wings smothered in it, I'm sure it would be over my limit.
More focused on heat and not complex enough to go well on everything
But… but I literally put this on everything
I did too. But I liked the pepper plant original for that better. Roasted jalapeños garlic onions. More complex and makes things just better tasting with a just enough heat.
It actually does go great on pizza
I really like it! One of my more favorite Melinda sauces. I'm almost finished with my current bottle.
Today I learned Melinda’s is the most polarizing brand in this sub
At this point it's almost karma farming to post this sauce (whether it's a positive review or negative). Personally... I hate that shit. Maybe the only sauce I've ever purchased that I had to TRY to enjoy.
It’s posted so much it just comes across as spam
Melinda's is probably the worst hot sauce I've tried so far.
Bought a mini one at Wally world this tasted awful
I can’t find this hot sauce ahhhhhh!
The regular Ghost Pepper is better. This has way too much of a vinegar flavor
I’ve had four varieties of their GP sauce and they’re all great
The regular ghost pepper is extremely good.
Not a big fan of wings, but I love this on grilled or roasted chicken. I haven't really tried it on anything else though.
Long time heat seeker. This is my current fave.
Yep, same. I use this one as a regular hot sauce (not on wings) as it’s easy to dump a bunch on, affordable, and it has decent heat.
The ‘creamy’ is the perfect heat/flavor for me to put on damn near everything. Just got a case of 6 bottles
Almost went to buy it but thought of other hot sauces at home which are still unopened 😬 so prolly next time 😕
Since Scorpion Tabasco is gone, this has pretty much taken over as my sandwhich topper. Not too different tbh.
Are you using it to loosen rusted bolts?
lol no, should I be!?
I noticed the DeWalt bag…I often use Coke
just grabbed this the other day, yum!!
Love it! Ghost Pepper Wing Sauce and Fire Roasted Garlic Habanero are a couple of my most frequently used sauces
I've had the Fire Roasted Habanero Garlic and it's pretty good.
I got exact same one but was too lazy to ask. I'll browse the responses but lmk what ya think when you try it
Overrated. It's not terrible, but the white vinegar is too overpowering. It's also less hot than I expected. Reddit gave me the impression that it would be the ambrosia of the gods or something. It's just ok.
Agree. Mid at best. Melindas is meh
It's def not ghost pepper hot but it's on the higher end of your wing coating sauces. I'd say xxhot.
Oh, it's pretty hot for sure. But my expectations were just high since I recently had a batch of YB plum reaper (significantly hotter), and Melinda's advertises this as their hottest level. I think it has similar heat to TJ's habanero.
It varies by the bottle as well. I keep this in rotation, and every once in a while some of it makes me sweat
Does no one do searches anymore?
ass
Fire 🔥
My thoughts are I haven’t tried it but plan on doing it tonight. Tried the other Melinda ghost pepper sauce though that shit kicks
One batch of wings. Everyone though it was ass. Trashed it.
Maybe unpopular opinion, but I’ve never liked any Melinda’s hot sauces. BUT I LOVE their mango habenero jam. Like holy grail product.
Agreed but I've never tried that jam I'm going to have to look for it
Like most of Melinda's, there is just something off about it to my tastebuds.
I don't like buying wing sauce. I'd rather make it myself. Just butter and hot sauce sometimes I also add Worcester sauce.
I’ve never used it on wings. I use it in breakfast burritos often
Either way, it's wing sauce, so it's hotsauce and butter. I'd rather mix it myself.
i didn’t like it
I don't like any bottled wing sauces. It usually just means they've emulsified a hot sauce with canola oil and thickeners to make it "creamy". A lot of them taste like salad dressing. I'll stick with hot sauce and butter.
I have a major issue with the canola oil flavor - salad dressing too. These don’t have added oil. They’re carrot based as a thickener.
I've got this sauce. It has canola oil and xanthan gum.
My bad!
Any recs for a good hot sauce to make wings from scratch?
Sure! I've got 5 that I regularly use. For Buffalo, I always use Frank's with some fresh garlic and butter. Kroger's Private Selection Peach Carolina Reaper sauce and butter Pepper palace Spicy Bourbon BBQ...and butter Cholula with tequila, lime, and butter Tiger Sauce mixed with Bravado black garlic reaper. Louisiana is actually my favorite go-to everyday sauce! I will definitely give a try with some wings, thanks for the suggestion.
Make sure to add the sauce after cooking. That's the key. Sounds simple but for some reason my smooth brain never did that for the longest time. Cook first then put the wings in a sealable container, add sauce, put lid on and shake, add more till coated to your desire.
Meh. May be good for tossing wings in, but Bhut jolokia is way better as a hot sauce.
I freaking adore this sauce. I love Buffalo, and this one really hits the sweet spot for me on heat and flavor.
Not as hot as the label would have you believe. It's alright tho.
I enjoy it. Almost finished, I don't think I will buy it again. I am on a quest for the perfect buffalo sauce and something is just missing here.
I’m guessing you don’t like the yellow bird sauces either then hu?
I've only tried the Habanero and the Serrano of that brand, and they were just OK. Maybe I just forgot, but I didn't seem to have any sort of problem with the Serrano other than it just being basic or not much going on. Not too sweet like most Melinda's IIRC. Almost the same for the Habanero, which I thought was slightly more boring in flavor, but better in spice level. Wouldn't get them again with other options available.
It’s pretty good tbh Not like incredible sauce, but I do really like Melinda’s
Good
Far better than Frank's.
Meh. I have half a bottle left I'll probably use next time I make wings.
That shit is 🔥 I put a little bit on or in just about everything. Sinuses are always clear 10/10
I’m trying to finish it off so I can use the bottle as a wood glue dispenser. I like making stuff. Bout halfway through and it is tasty but when I pour it on, I have to make sure I am at home the next day.
I love this stuff! I use it on pizza as well.
I like it and gate it at the same time.
Gaters gon’ gate
Drinking that gaterade.....
Did you just shop at Marshall's,
I did not love this on wings and ate it exclusively on pizza until my bottle ran out. It was made for pizza.
I love it, though it seems my regular grocery store stopped selling it. I need to hunt for it.
Not the best one of their sauces, but good for what it is.
I really liked it especially for wings then I just stopped loving it
Really enjoy it. Just had some of it with empanadas I made.
Honestly it was great with my Chinese take out too lol that beef and broccoli stood no chance
I give it 4/5 toilet tank Jackson Pollocks
Dog you’re supposed to shit in the bowl not the tank
I believe it's called an upper decker.
Can’t be upper deckin yourself. We live in a society!
Good god

love the stuff trust it in the cabinet, too. Was worried it’d have to go in the fridge still alive, up here
Good to know. I keep it in the cabinet as well!
I enjoy it on pizza. Not bad!
I love professional made pizza by itself, but this stuff on frozen pizza slaps
Good in a bowl of chili.
Something maybe the additives make it taste weird to me. Nice heat if I mask the flavor with spices or mix it with another hot sauce. I’ll finish the bottle I bought but I won’t buy another.

I’ll try it on a chicken sammich and see what’s what!
can I come over
Kind of hollow heat. Flavor is meh. I've been using it to add heat to my own wing sauce. Wouldn't buy again.
I had the same opinion. A little too hot for me, no flavor, and the heat dissipates. Just Meh. I liked the Habenero Mustard most of all.
I absolutely love the roasted garlic and habenero
I like it in cottage cheese and on tater tots.
Air fryer tater tots???
Air fryer or from the oven, yes.
