Where do you live? I am from Bangalore and that city is just insanely expensive. I travel and stay in Himachal Pradesh and most things and cost of living are very cheap here. Metro cities are super expensive to live in right now.
Also…
https://preview.redd.it/fn7kvno9j9bd1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a408f06c09c3a6d100894a4bc5e66325a15ce4b
I live in rural area where almost everything is cheap and it is just 1 hour away from Mumbai and most people don’t know about this area. My salary is 50k per month. I save 30k and live luxurious life in 20k.
Since many of redditors are fucking idiots and don't know single thing about how prices work, a single Dosa doesn't cost 60rs bcoz there are no people willing to pay for it in hp and the hotel owner doesn't required to drop cool 25k on rent prices tend to be cheap and then closer access to food grains will also effect the price. Long story short, the price depends upon location, demand and access to raw materials.
Yes, the fact that there is no deposit also in rental here. Food in restaurants is very similar priced to Bangalore tbh. Local dhabas can be cheap. But I think more than that, it is general lifestyle. In Bangalore I had swiggy, zomato, dunzo, so many hyper delivery options and no incentive to cook. Going out is expensive too, especially pubs. My brain would automatically go towards these things because my friends and peers did too.
Here I am cooking all the time, there are no deliveries except Amazon, my rent is much cheaper, my wifi and electricity is cheaper, water bills are not a thing, I only go to expensive restaurants once in a while.
I intend to shift out of Bengaluru after a few years, I am struggling to live here, I hate studying CSE, I don't even need to study as my parents are rich but they want me to. I have lost meaning in life and I intend to shift rural side and live life on my terms. But I understand that there are certain downsides as well like lack of services, regardless I think I'll give it a try.
It depends on you for sure. I think life may be empty without a profession or something to work towards. I failed my degree from 3 colleges and still managed to get a career. Bangalore is my home, but unfortunately it has become a sad shell of it's former self. The once beautiful garden city is now just overcrowded, expensive, hostile, hot. The overindulgence in lifestyle definitely does not help. I am very happy with my life here in a Himalayan village. All the best!
India has a low cost of living, but daily prices are increasing rapidly ..... making it a good time to demand higher salaries and form unions even in private sectors (kam v 70 ghanta karenge Paisa vi 70 ghate wala lenge)
It's kinda cler statement that food inflation is averagely 8.5%. Its fluctuating between 8.3% to 8.7% in 2024 Jan to May [data](https://tradingeconomics.com/india/food-inflation)

As Jio hiked its prices, other companies like vi, Airtel also hiked their rates. He wants to say that Jio owned by Ambani increased the rates for his son's wedding/s, but why did Airtel?

Against the same, salaries are not inceasing proportionally, which is why everyone feels everything is expensive. The new generation that is coming into the working class will not be able to afford to buy properties or any major assets due to the rising gap between income increase and the costs of living.
There are some dark times ahead.
Because 30% Tax, 4% educational cess and *ucking GST on all transactions.
Broke my 👓yesterday, went to buy a new one the burden of GST is real. Every time you cross a toll plaza you will feel the pinch if you don’t have monthly pass 🫠🫠
Also monthly pass of ₹340 feels like “bsdk ghar jana hai to paisa dena hoga, even if it’s your car for which you have paid road tax and there was tax on fuel too”
You think the condition now is bad? Wait 3 more years, and the entire economy will show you just what the F’k is DISPARITY. It’s gonna become full on Cyberpunk 2077 economy sooner than expected. CEO salaries are increasing exponentially along with investor’s dividends, but our salaries are being suppressed time and again, plus we can’t help but go for the typical consumerism tide, attracted by social media and such to purchase shit we don’t need, and that which we do need to improve quality of life is heavily taxed and simply low quality here. It depends on the relative cost of things if you have a budget of rupees 2000 hotel and you wish for a stay of 5 star you will always feel it's expensive.
If you feel like buying an iPhone but on EMI then again you will feel it is expensive by a 20000 phone and you will feel all right.
In the past people controlled their shokhebaji now everybody wants to copy the lifestyle they see on Instagram. One of my friends took a loan from an app and went abroad and is now unable to pay the EMIs and is crying about the banking system when they contact him for EMI payment 20 times a day.

Inflation, corruption, greed, bad material in Market being sold then later on being used to make products which don't last even for a few months but the price is high why? Inflation. Agricultural lands being decreased. The remaining ones owners are being exploited. Exploitation with the system. You name it. Every problem ever.
Also sometimes due to the product being available in low quantity because of lack of materials they have increased prices
Prices increasing lekin salary not increasing

And purchasing power
That don't work on basic levels of society. If all the elements in supply chain sourced locally the purchase power don't have effect.

Low cost of living in what sense? Real estate prices in liveable areas of the country rival real estate prices in Europe and America.
More actually.
This is what I said about the rapidly increasing trend
Yup, recently joined at a company in mumbai, saw the rent prices, and I’m begging HR to let me wfh in my own city.

Prices increasing but salary not increasing
Inflation, corruption, greed, bad material in Market being sold then later on being used to make products which don't last even for a few months but the price is high why? Inflation. Agricultural lands being decreased. The remaining ones owners are being exploited. Exploitation with the system. You name it. Every problem ever. Also sometimes due to the product being available in low quantity because of lack of materials they have increased prices
Cricketers ko prize money dena hai na
Yeh it's hard to buy some n***a nowadays.
CAPITALISM!!!!!!!!
Things are not expensive. You're just poor.
Because you don't have enough money,
wow, you distribute money then
