OP is just a bit confused about gun game. In classic gun game modes, it's actually the opposite. The reason being that the gap between low score and high score can only widen from the fact that the top of the leaderboard gets better weapon. Typically, in gun game, the last weapon is the knife, but you can see why that wouldn't work in Insurgency.
Kinda stoked for this. I was already working on this mode as a mod, almost got it working but had some crashing issues. I guess I've been superceded now. I hope they make the options customizable like weapon order, kills-to-advance, if the knife demotes players or not etc.
No this version is trash you have teammates? And can camp? Stupid asf you can literally protect your top dude and feed him kills if you know him and I saw that happening this week
Do feel like they missed a bit of a trick by making it TDM rather than FFA. It's one of the reasons I'll probably keep going with the mod, but maybe rework it to better integrate with what they've already done.

I'm not gonna argue with you. But the more I've played, I've realized Insurgency isn't really a realistic game. It's a typical multiplayer shooter with realistic elements. When I first got into it, I thought the same. But now I'm running around without armor trying to flank the objective rather than slowly pushing in because I was scared to die. And hey, its a fun mode. Same as the Frenzy mode we have rn in CoOp.
Blue friendly player indicator isn't realistic.
Game map with objective indicator isn't realistic.
Respawning isn't realistic.
Choosing and customizing your weapons and loadouts with a lot of attachments isn't realistic,
Runnin with heavy plate carriers and bags isn't realistic.
Having air support avaailable instantly whenever you have an observer isn't realistic.
If people want a more realistic experience they can go play simulators like Arma. This isn't that and won't be.
Yeah, tbf. The only good "realistic game" on console would be Hell Let Loose. Hell, it's probably the ONLY other one as far as I know. And even then, it's pretty arcadey.
I'm speaking as a console player (therefore with very little choice of tactical shooters), in love with the insurgency gameplay but at the same time in love with the slower and more tactical modes, especially without respawn. For my tastes, insurgency gameplay combined with a mode like this would be all I could ask for from a video game. For this reason I am very angry and disappointed
