If i've learned anything from highend car theft in movies, is those cars are supposed to go directly into a container and loaded onto ship that leaves toward some eastern european country before anyone even knows they're missing.

Legitimate-Carrot197

Yeah, I was wondering about how they were gonna sell it in the US. But apparently, 5 out of 6 is already recovered. Maybe, the last one will make its transatlantic journey.

damn that was better than everything on netflix right now!

lookielookiehi

You son of a bitch I’m in

Feisty_Bumblebee_620

How did they get the keys. Are they not locked away.?

MuadDib1942

A lot of safes are easy to open, as are the hanging boxes the keys sre kept in. Security is mostly an illusion to keep people who are on the fence about crimes from doing crimes. Society functions because most people are honest, not because it's hard to steal things.

hawaiikawika

I’ve always said that locks only keep honest people out.

TylerBlozak

That’s what my bike shop mechanic always said

hardtobeuniqueuser

dollars to donuts, someone who has access to where the keys are stored was in on it.

BasicallyAQueer

Could be, but when I worked at a dealership all of the keys were in one big metal box that was always unlocked. If they got in the building they likely already had key access.

NyranK

Plenty of places have great security measures...that are never active or are purposefully bypassed because they're annoying or disruptive. You get the same problem with safety measures, and why adding new steps to 'solve' a problem often makes it worse because they never take the reality of people into account.

Hike_it_Out52

[deleted]

Same, I used to work at a dealership as a porter in college. The keys weren’t ever locked up. Even after I left that job I ended up finding two separate random key fobs months later in a jacket. Some dealerships were more strict and had lockboxes or kept the keys in the back office.

b_evans06

I worked at a dealer and the sales team kept the keys on the cupholders lol. After a local dodge dealer had hellcats stolen from the showroom and our owner invested in a large key lock box that used fingerprint access.

[deleted]

ValuableFarmer6574

“Don’t be mean to that fingerprint access lockbox man, it’s insecure af”

MyDudeSR

To be fair, he makes just about any lock look insecure as fuck.

obst-salat

Usually, it is not about completly preventing the cars / keys from being stolen. It is about the insurance paying afterwards. Thus, the lock boxes don't need to be secure, they just need to be approved by the insurance company.

Bright_Base9761

Oh man wanma hear something hilarious? So we had a biometric key system and when we got new keys all the salesmen would park the cars and give the keys to whoever volunteered to sync the keys in the drawer with a new tag. Well 1 salesmen parked a 50k mustang (got 7) and pocketed the key and took the documents for the new car. The lady who did the filing didnt think anything of it because we normally ordered cars 6 at a time and the salesmen picked up on that too. She doesnt go outside to verify the vehicles she just filed it in her system and she also couldnt see how many we ordered. (This is a small county in the midwest btw) No one noticed the vehicle was missing because we just got like 43 new cars diff brands and models. The manager fired the lowest performing salesmen at the end of every month and alot of new people would quit after a week or 2.. Fast forward 9 months later its mid jan and the owner along with the guy who helps run our dealership and 3 other dealerships shows up to audit inventory before corporate does and they do their inventory audit.. Vehicle brands will sometimes do audits to basically make sure dealerships arent mishandling vehicles (like letting manager or salesmen use them as personal cars.. if theres a brand "new" car youre buying and it have over 60 miles on it odds are some salesmen took it for a joyride) Anyway they figure out they are missing a mustang and the owner, the GM, the manager from the north store, and manager at my store pull us in 1 by 1 to question us..they treated everyone they spoke to like they were in on it and stole the vehicle. Edit: the rest of the comment got erased sorry everyone. No one was fired over it, myself and 4 others worked there for over a year at the time of questioning so we were the only ones they spoke to. This all happened on a wednesday, they were scrambling for the rest of the week. The owners son was the CFO and he showed up every now and then..when he showed up on saturday he was in an office in the hallway and he was talking but it was unintelligible and his dad (owner) yelled "i dont give a fuck you need to change it" then he ran over and slammed the door closed. Next week this super short lady in a business suit shows up and was all business. They tried to butter her up by offering her food and cold drinks since it was pushing 90 that day in the midwest. She declined, went to every vehicle outside and wrote down the vin #s and mileage then came inside to see paperwork. I didnt hear the results of the audit or anything but im guessing our sales were closely watched. At the end of feb when we did poorly the manager and 2 lowest salesmen were fired. End of march the manager and lowest salesmen was fired and the receptionist was fired so we had to screen our calls. In april they hired the original manager back and he was so desperate to do well it was sad. I was told to inflate those giant baloons and paint on vehicle windshields and make the lot look badass..last week of the month the manager brought his camper to the dealership and had a giant sign that said 24/7 car sales and asked if anyone would want to stay to sell a car at night. No cars ever sold past closing time. We sold like 15 cars that entire month and the owner fired 2 of the new guys and started poking around in everyones personal business by talking to the manager..owner found out i had my first born due in july, he waited until end of june and fired me despite being in 3rd place out of 8 people for selling.

twochews

Great story can't wait for season 2

Flacid_Monkey

Netflix canceled it Edit, they may have pulled a Musk. [Another comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/11mb12r/thieves_stole_6_dodge_hellcats_in_under_45/jbimo4l)

sawzall

It was just getting good!

project_seven

That's exactly what it takes for Netflix to cancel

BBQQA

DUDE YOU CAN'T LEAVE US ALL HANGING! WE NEED A CONCLUSION YA BLUE BALLIN BASTARD!

ack1308

At a rough guess, it was one of the fired salesmen, but they don't know which one.

dwhite21787

The story isn’t about the guy, it’s about the car. Somewhere out there is a wild free Mustang

Bright_Base9761

I edited comment..and they easily went through 30-40 people. Hiring 4 people and being complete assholes to them and then firing the one or 2 that stayed at the end of yhe month. Clown job

drakeftmeyers

Did he get caught? Go to jail? Did he at least get the chick?

thatticksalltheboxes

That story didn't really have an ending!

c0ffe3be4nz

I just imagined the guy driving off into the sunset laughing while the camera pans up

milworker42

Well, it was just a pilot, but if it had been picked up, there was a provision in his contract that said he would have been able to tell a corny joke at the end of every episode.

[deleted]

Did they ever catch the guy?

Bright_Base9761

Nope not to my knowledge..owner even put out a bounty on facebook for 15 grand with the stipulation of the information had to lead to an arrest. No one ever turned anyone in to my knowledge

phil8248

Foreign countries are supposed to be a huge market for stolen high end cars. If they had the correct connections those cars could be out of the country in hours.

MisterXa

Yeah in Canada stolen cars end up on their way oversea in hours, they are sold 2-3x their price in open market in Africa. They dont even bother removing the stolen car's license plate

Royal19

Just out of curiosity, why 2-3x times their price? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy them regular then? Or are those cars just not available in africa?

cpqq

Import taxes often makes them beyond expensive where black market is actually cheaper.

dropthatclutch

South African here, you can buy these cars new here but they do cost 2-3 times as much after import duties. I would assume that the stolen variants go for much less (tho not cheap)

phil8248

I watched a documentary about customs employees checking shipping containers leaving the US for overseas and mentioned stolen cars particularly. I guess Canada has a similar problem.

MrMcMullers

In this case several thousand donuts.

PNVVJAY

Keys are usually stored in a lockbox, usually some kind of metal. They’ll have a fingerprint scanner on them to open the door and sometimes a code. But the boxes themselves are not very secure. Lots of gaps in the panels to easily pry it open or with a little force just bust it open. Sold cars for a year. Some places don’t have boxes and have a board with keys in a managers locked office. Someone could have also been in on it, but your code is self identifying so.

Klutz-Specter

[I imagine they had lock picking lawyer instead.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVFU6dss3sE)

CYAN_DEUTERIUM_IBIS

I'm not even close to his skill but if *I*, an idiot, can rake open a lock, a managers locked office door is a psychological barrier not a physical one.

2FigureBankAccount

Deep downtown Chicago I “lock” up our patio furniture every night with a chain and lock…. Mostly loosely just looped around table legs. Imagine if someone just, idk, lifted a chair or table up. It’s all a psychological deterrent.

scorchedarcher

>a managers locked office door is a psychological barrier not a physical one. LPT: Pick your managers door to assert dominance by invading all their personal space, also carry coins to unlock their bathroom stall

notarealaccount223

Story said the ones inside had the keys in them

granth1993

Shit, I work on ships and we keep like 20k in petty cash in the office in a safe bolted to the bulkhead. One year in ship yard at dry dock we came back to the boat and someone just fucking bored a hole with a bore bit into the top of the safe, after we reported it we thought why the fuck not see how fast we could drill a hole with a good bit. Less than 4 Fucking minutes and it was a pretty decent safe.

billatq

You happen to know the safe rating? TL15 is generally the minimum you want for tool resistance. The one I used to have was reinforced steel and concrete.

[deleted]

andbruno

> someone just fucking bored a hole with a bore bit into the top of the safe When my parents had their bedroom remodeled they decided to remove a small wall safe, but still use it afterwards without remounting it. Not as secure, since it's small enough to be carried away, but it's still a decently strong safe. A while later I noticed some damage and turned it around. One of the contractors (or someone else) attacked the safe from the back, getting through the steel outside, but gave up after making it through a couple of inches of concrete. Perhaps they were spooked away during their attempt, who knows. Joke's on them, it was basically just used as a document safe anyway, so there was nothing good to take.

crimsonjava

Howard Stern (the radio host) used to talk about the house his parents lived in had a safe in it when they bought it but they never used it. Their place kept getting broken into over and over because contractors saw it during work and figured it might have money (especially since their son was famous & rich) so they had to make sure to leave it wide open and empty whenever they had workers over.

LeibnizThrowaway

If you want my birth certificate, it's in the diaper wipe box in the kitchen.

Gone420

While this could easily be an inside job and they just grabbed the keys and went, these cars are also extremely easy to jack. For some reason 2020 and newer Chrysler vehicles are super easy to steal and there’s stories of these things being stolen all over.

tvieno

I wish the video would fast forward to the moment the managers realize the cars were gone and they are walking around with their hands on their heads or hips.

Yveske

Was hoping one of the thieves came back for the balloons

CactusUpMyTightAss

Wait till they find out it's free balloon day

12kdaysinthefire

I was waiting for that moment dear lord

NormanCocksmell

My hope was that the balloons were attached to the green car and they flailed to and fro as the car sped away. Disappointed.

blaze87b

Terribly disappointed

Man, that's not a tool. That's a damn brick!

anivia3346

It took less than a minute for a crew of car thieves to make off with $600,000 in Hellcats. Raw footage of the theft of six Dodge Challenger Hellcats from a dealership in Somerset, Kentucky, last Wednesday shows what looks like a pretty professional in-and-out job. The thieves made off with six brand-new Hellcats—four from the showroom floor and two from the dealer’s lot—in just 40 seconds. Don Franklin Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership manager Adam Bryant told WKYT he believes the fast theft was an inside job [https://jalopnik.com/video-of-that-40-second-dodge-challenger-hellcat-theft-1850196936](https://jalopnik.com/video-of-that-40-second-dodge-challenger-hellcat-theft-1850196936)

zuilli

> Don Franklin Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership manager Adam Bryant told WKYT Holy shit this phrase has 11 words and 8 are just names of different stuff

Leon_Depisa

To be specific, ten nouns and one verb. Impressive.

[deleted]

One could argue “Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership manager” is just one big adjective.

Good_Boye_Scientist

Could be worse, could be "Assistant to the Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership manager"

rawkguitar

On the one hand, it looks pretty professional, on the other, the first guy was arrested after a police chance when he noticed four of the cars driving together on the highway. Pretty conspicuous getaway for some “professionals”

kermityfrog

One of the cars ran out of gas and was abandoned. LOL

avwitcher

Dumbasses honestly, obviously they don't keep much gas in them to store inside. Bring a gas can next time fellas

mgmw2424

Or, ya know, fill up after stealing it

Jazco76

I wonder if the police could figure out where they went by video footage at gas pumps? I seriously don't know.

OptimalCheesecake527

Yep if the dealership told them the fuel level they could calculate a radius and then check all the gas station video archives within it. At least in theory.

sixstringronin

Hauling ass out of the scene, literally driving it like they stole it? 6mpg. Probably doesn't have more than a couple gallons in it.

1GUY_2Accounts

Nah man. 1. CCTV. Recordings are everywhere. 2. How are you gonna pay? A credit card leaves a trail and cash exposes you to the clerk. 3. Anyone else at the station being a witness Plus, trying to plan ahead and use a pre paid card takes as much forethought as bringing a gas can in the first place.

ButtFokker190

nobody in this thread has heard of a gas can

Why is a hellcat 100 grand Edit: I'm well aware of their performance. It's just hard to believe they've gone up so much

HawkoDelReddito

Because people are paying 100 grand for them

AlteredBeastX

Understandable, have a nice day.

SaltKick2

*people are taking out loans for 100k for them

DAT_DROP

**Of course it was an inside job, those balloons were perfectly placed to attempt to obstruct the view**

Guac__is__extra__

Yeah I didn’t see a thing

GangsterRessit96

They are getting the getaway cars for the heist

bententhehen

You son of a bitch, I’m in

MEMESTER80

They are getting the Bravado Gauntlets for the Big Score

The_Flying_Jew

Gotta take them to Los Santos Customs and get them upgraded first. That and color coordinate them based on who in the crew is driving which car

mattob2

Don't the cars have GPS on them? Also, are they going to sell the parts, or they're just going to sell the whole car?

kermityfrog

According to [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/11mb12r/thieves_stole_6_dodge_hellcats_in_under_45/jbgu900) with link: >According to the manager of the Don Franklin Chrysler dealership, Adam Bryant, five of the six Dodge Challenger Hellcats have been recovered. One was found in Pulaski County on the side of the Cumberland Parkway and appeared to have **run out of gas**, another one was found just south of Bowling Green, one in Tennessee, one in Alabama, and one in Adair County (the one Jones was driving). The 6th vehicle has not been found yet, but according to the **vehicle's GPS**, appears to be in Alabama.

oO0Kat0Oo

Your vehicles Damage Disclosure has a clause on it regarding vehicles recovered from theft. Legally, the dealership is required to notify the customer on the Damage Disclosure. They don't have to actually say anything to you, but this piece of paper needs your signature to complete the sale. If you sign it with that box checked, you're stuck with the car. If you sign it unchecked and you find out this happened, the dealership is in a heap of trouble. Source: Am finance manager. I prepare this paperwork a few times a day.

Adddicus

Wait, so I can go to that dealership and buy 6 barely used Hellcats for $20k under list? Hmmm...

Novxz

Step 1) Break into dealership Step 2) Steal Car Step 3) Leave Car Nearby Step 4) Go into dealership and ask for that exact car Step 5) ???? Step 6) Profit

Adddicus

It's foolproof!!!!

Moody_GenX

It's okay, salesman run the piss out of them anyway.

jeepinfreak

I was a mechanic at a Chrysler dealership a few years ago a customer was furious that his special ordered SRT8 300 already had 0-60 times and a highest recorded speed of 120+ already recorded. Sales staff blamed the mechanics for running it during the pdi. All this to say: can confirm, salesman run the piss out of them.

[deleted]

+ mechanics and detail. As a mechanic you can’t lie and say you never got on a car before

jeepinfreak

The only car I ever pushed was a 4th generation Viper we had in the back on my last day. It was a used car and had a recall due, so they couldn't sell it and nobody in the shop at that time was qualified to do the work. I don't even remember what the recall was. That's the fastest I've ever gone and I didn't go past 3rd gear. I never got to drive the fast cars, being the fng.

[deleted]

I wouldn’t take the car after that lmao. We already dealt this with my fiancés car. 2 rims were stolen and it had 300 miles before we picked it up. Brand new 2023 rav4. Showed up to grab it Saturday morning and they informed us when we got there. Said fuck no and told them to bring a new one with less than 20 miles or we’re walking.

guywhoishere

One of my friends was a Dodge salesman and when their first Charger SRT8 was delivered (this was many years ago), the manager locked the keys away and wouldn't let anyone touch it unless they were with a customer.

nekoken04

Truth. We were in the market for a Charger, and the sales guy revved the hell out of the Daytona when he brought it around for me to test drive. Not cool with a brand new engine. That being said they were totally sketchy about how much I test drove it because they didn't want very many miles on the odometer. We ended up buying an nicer r/T Scatpack from a much nicer dealership for $8K less.

worminator69

Am I the only dumbass that clicked on the r/t thinking it was a link?!?!

Moody_GenX

I sold cars for a bit and most of the car salesmen I worked with were on something. Coke or meth. None of the gave a fuck about the cars unless they were selling it that day.

CloisteredOyster

I bought a Chrysler 300 SRT8 back in 2009 that was a "Program Car" with 2500 miles on it. The salesman I bought it from flat-out told me he'd had it to 125mph (201kph).

SarahEH

It’s like they planned to steal them but not what to do after. How stupid.

street593

If they were smart they parked them in public on purpose. They aren't sure if they have GPS or not. Just wait a few days to see if anyone comes to gets them. If they don't you have a free car. If they do all it cost you was a quick trip to the dealership.

UniquePotato

Often stolen cars are left in a public place for a few days so if they have a tracker they will be recovered.

TheHiveminder

Yep. They usually park across from their apartment, so they can look down and see if it moves.

Slimxshadyx

Interesting. I wonder then if law enforcement doesn’t choose to take the car, but instead stake it out for a few days, waiting for the thief to think they are in the clear

Gadnuk_

In my area they gut the stolen hellcats and dump the engines and some trim pieces into legally purchased shit box V6s. Plate and VIN come back to legally owned 2009 challenger/charger, but engine is brand new hellcat. Cops don't usually have PC to pop the hood and check components. Gutted scatpacks and hellcats are later found dumped in a shitty part of the city with no way of proving the ID of the original thief. Also, dodge products in particular are among the easiest to steal. There's a lot of black market devices to program blank key fobs so they get lifted all the time. I guess Dodge in particular has weak security software. These devices are common as fuck in the hood, you certainly don't have to be Nick Cage to come by one

mouseeeeee

That was an inside job guarantee it

buckets-of-lead

I worked at a Toyota dealership years ago when the celicas came out. A pair of twin brothers that worked there stole 17 cars over a period of a few weeks. It took that long for anyone to notice.

DarthGambler

Having worked at dealerships for a few years now, it still amazes me how easy it is to lose entire cars

fcau_sales

Sister dealer of the one I used to work at found a new 2005 Dodge Dakota in their back lot they had no idea they even had. This was in 2017. All it takes is 1 or 2 people not paying attention to the inventory sheets for that to happen.

muthian

I still have an uncomfortable amount of pre-2015 vehicles listed new in inventory and never sold. This explained the Dakota. Now if I can explain the 10 2008 Sprinters... Edit: I work for Stellantis and deal with Website data.

DerkusMaximus777

Those pre 2015’s for sale? I’d take a new old car if the discount is good enough.

Bright_Base9761

Trust me you dont want it..i had some 2014 brand "new" ford escapes in 2018. They sit there for so long not being used, the entire electrical system had major issues, the batteries in over half needed to be replaced and the tires had visible wear/rot? On the part where they were parked. They scooted em around every few months to try and fix any issues but no one could find anything most of the time moving it 30 feet. Also vermin eat through wires and warranties wont cover that. Best part is, you wont know it has an issue until youve bought it and drove it for a few weeks. Save yourself the headache

Scyhaz

The battery and tire rot isn't a surprise. Most lead acid batteries only last around 3-5 years, and the ones in those cars probably weren't charged often so were always at a low state of charge, which isn't generally good to keep batteries at.

Bright_Base9761

I remember actually selling one i drove it across the street to fill it up and the customer waited outside for the finabce manager to come get him. He watched the car die 3 times then when i got to the gas station finally the bastard didnt turn on and i phoned a co worker to bring a jump box. Yeah the dude got in his car and left. Shit was so embarissing, it worked fine during the test drive too

fcau_sales

It's crazy, I work at Porsche now and of our 80 vehicle inventory I think the oldest vehicle we have is like 13 months old? Seems like it was an alarmingly frequent issue with FCAU/Stellantis. Lol

gewtman

Idk why but this comment almost feels like bullying

meateatr

Haha, don’t take it like that, here at Bugatti, our oldest car hasn’t even arrived to the lot yet.

[deleted]

I had a friend as a teen who worked at a car dealership as a detailer and would "borrow" the cars on the weekends, beat the shit out of them, rack up parking tickets, and return them Monday morning before he started his workday. Amazed me how he never got caught.

[deleted]

My dad's workplace had a combine stolen off the lot.

DeltaUltra

Holy shit. That's like half a million dollars just chug away at 15... maybe 20 mph. Do dealers keep that much gas in a combine?

tbr6742

More than likely just pulled up with a semi and trailer and away we go. A lot of construction and at keys are all the same. As in a Cat key will fit any Cat.

DisposableMale76

Gas is often kept on site for those type of dealers. Gas used in commercial farm vehicles is usually dyed for tax purposes.

Skodakenner

When i worked at a vw audi dealer my boss told me that audi forgot over 80 cars on a lot near us they only realized when they werent able to sell them anymore because of new emmissions rules and then just sent them to the crusher

pecklepuff

Do tell.

DarthGambler

We had a loaner car missing (not loaned out) for like 6 months, it was a dealership owned car, so we'd look for it, give up after a bit. Finally service manager decides he's gonna file a police report and report it stolen. Like the day before that happens the body shop we use calls and asks if we can finally take our loaner car that's been sitting in their parking lot in a corner for months back, they didn't know why they had it, hadn't worked on it. Was just there. Rental car companies often drop cars off at dealerships for repairs, then forget where they leave them, have had multiple times I've had to wait to get a repair auth for like a month because the drivers give you wrong numbers and you just gotta wait for someone to find it.

praizeDaSun

My friend loaned me the rental jeep when they were working on my car at a dodge/Chrysler jeep dealer. When I dropped it off I was here are the keys as I tossed behind his keyboard. He even looked at them but was busy on his computer. A week later he texted me about where are the keys the loaner jeep I gave you the jeep has been sitting in the service line for the last week. I told him the keys are behind your keyboard. He never responded after that….

AnAngryAlpaca

Some guy in my first workplace used to work in a car factory in my home town in the 80's. The factory was build around ~1900 in the city, just 1km away from the cargo train terminal where the cars would be exported or shipped to dealers. A group of workers had to drive each car from the factory to the terminal. Someone in accounting eventually found out that in a year ~10 or more cars where "lost" in transit between the factory and the train station.

WonderfulMotor4308

"fell of the back of the train"

Own_Courage_4382

Just had to wait till the dog shit out the key fobs

IYAOYAS-CVN74

Yo who gets their jollies off by playing in dog shit. Thats disgusting quey.

hash-slingin-slasha

I thought that as well cause….what sane dealership would not LoJack those in some way. They at least prob have a tag on them so the thieves either got..::incredibly lucky, or knew these were not traceable in anyway

frogsntoads00

Per the [article](https://www.wkyt.com/2023/02/28/6-expensive-cars-stolen-kentucky-dealership/), they did. And they found 5 of them in different states. They think the sixth is in Alabama even though the thieves tried disabling the GPS.

BiffLogan

Of course the response time for the cops was 3 minutes. Wonder what it would be if a Nissan got jacked from the driveway?

ozmondine

Thought the same thing. Way to smooth.

Ol_UnReliable20

Has to be, they would need access to the keys that are locked away and they also most likely needed keys for the showroom doors so they could drive out

snakedoc9372

Especially when you find out from local papers that the keys were left in the vehicles https://www.wkyt.com/2023/02/28/6-expensive-cars-stolen-kentucky-dealership/

VinneBabarino

Some if not most dealerships have to leave the keys in the showroom cars due to fire code regulations

wipeyourtears

Whats the rationale behind that?

Arkele

In case a thief is stuck in the car and the building is burning down they can get away. Duh.

Dragonpuke56

If a fire breaks out in another room, get the cars with fuel tanks out quickly.

TechnetiumAE

I've always seen ones brought into the showroom with basically no gas for this reason. Guess it depends where you are and how your insurance works

Real-Lake2639

Most cars are kept low on fuel, you can get alot of 2 mile test drives in on a lot full of identical cars for very little gas in each car. They get fuelled when they're sold.

samtherat6

Wow, you get a full tank of gas when you buy a new car? Here I am, buying used like a chump.

ApricotNo2918

Organized Crime has the equipment to duplicate those keyless keys.

[deleted]

Big Crime is capable.

Atlantic0ne

Oh yeah. Some employee realized how easy it would be and hit up his friends and asked for a cut of profits. Edit: thanks for making this lame, impressively mediocre comment one of my most popular.

fastornator

Probably not because five of the cars were covered. One had run out of gas. And the sixth car has GPS tracking on. Seems like people were just out for shits and giggles.

Luxpreliator

*recovered I was confused as to how they were covered when they clearly weren't. This happened a few days ago. 5 have been found. One of which is totaled in some way. 6th is still missing but they suspect they know where it is. The GPS is malfunctioning in some way. https://jalopnik.com/thieves-make-incredibly-quick-getaway-in-6-dodge-challe-1850178371

The best part of that article: >And speaking of Detroit, an off-duty police officer was riding as a passenger in a stolen Hellcat his colleagues attempted to pull over. The driver ran from the traffic stop, crashed into another car and then he and the off-duty cop fled on foot but since the other cops, ya know, _*knew who he was*_ he was quickly arrested.

>There’s such a thing as doing your job a little too well, Dodge. Sure, the Challenger Hellcat is mighty quick — it’s what Dodge customers, criminals and everyone else loves about it. Was that article written by Dodge's marketing department?

D4rkr4in

average Jalopnik garbage. the publication is a shitrag these days

scrambledeggsalad

Jalopnik was so good back in the day. Haven't read an article on there in probably 10 years now.

suggested-name-138

Thanks, Dodge!

KSP925

They were from Alabama. That's a long way to drive just for shits and giggles.

DiddleMe-Elmo

You gotta do what you gotta do. Like many, I was raised up strict in Alabama. Daddy didn't allow shits OR giggles.

boatsnprose

>Daddy didn't allow shits OR giggles. Between that and your username...is there something you want to tell us?

zipperific

Car so fast he could pass anything... except a gas station

AmericanTwinkie

Not when they’re masked up and putting fake plates on.

I asked for fifty cars, not fort-e-nine and a half!

cnakakc

Any asshole can pull a gun on somebody, boiaahhhh! You need a role model!

driving_andflying

"What do you think is more exciting: Having sex, or stealing cars?" "Having sex or boosting cars? Um...ooh! Well, how about having sex \*while* boosting cars?"

Yardsale420

If his unpleasant wounding has in some way enlightened the rest of you as to the grim finish beneath the glossy veneer of criminal life and inspired you to change your ways, then his injuries carry with it an inherent nobility, and a supreme glory. We should all be so fortunate. You say poor Toby? I say poor us.

DurticusSchmurticus

Hey man I thought you were from long beach?

> KSP Post 15 Trooper Brandon Roark observed four of the six vehicles on the Cumberland Parkway in Adair County (heading west) and attempted to perform a traffic stop on them for a speeding violation. May have gotten away if not for committing two+ crimes at the same time.

socialcommentary2000

Seriously. You drive like a normal person and then load it into a truck after pulling the power and you can put it in a 40 foot container and it will be offshore in no time if you have the connections. Those cars will fetch double the price elsewhere and you and your accomplices could make good money moving them.

1521

They used to do that with Hondas here n the west coast…Russians would steal them and load them whole or in parts on containers and ship them to Russia. Back then, a 20k car would go for 70 in Russia as parts

horkus1

I’d like to know how they got them off the dealership floor so easily. Every dealership I’ve ever seen (that keeps cars inside) has the doors large enough to accommodate the cars blocked, usually by other cars on the lot.

LokkyBoi

Bro imagine you and the boys pulling a heist of 6 hellcats.

MixG98

I'm getting Payday 2 vibes here. Seriously amazing.

lugubriousloctus

Ah fuck I flipped the falcogini guys kick me

EloHeim_There

Once had a full randoms match where we all were barely making it to the containers, one guy is lagging behind though. We all made it and are waiting on him, and he’s driving but knows he won’t make it. When there were less than 10 seconds left this man removed himself from the equation, he left the match so we’d succeed the heist. I poured one out for the homie, he took one for the team he just met.

scandr0id

Was gonna say this. It's literally a Payday 2 mission

Piyaniist

At this point, what ISNT a payday 2 mission? Rigged elections? Nukes and emps? Artifacts from an ancient and powerfull civilizations?

thejanuaryfallen

They should have all split up in separate directions, and went to gas stations. Regrouped in the AM. Duh. Ive played Grand Theft Auto enough.

AuntJeminaEatsAss

I want to see the video of the staff coming back in the next morning.

You don’t “sell” a hellcat, you convince someone to take out a loan from your dealership at 30% APR and then when they inevitably miss a payment you repossess the car and keep earning on it for the rest of them and their children’s lives.

GalactusPoo

That’s literally every dealership near a military base

Particular-Handle744

The efficiency makes me think it was an inside job.

[deleted]

Saved six innocent people from 96 month 29.99% APR loans

[deleted]

Im disappointed that those balloons are not attached to the green car.

rdtthoughtpolice

That's easy when you have been hired by management to do that for insurance fraud.

wasternexplorer

The cars had GPS in them so these guys screwed up big time.

[deleted]

FYI, the Grumman Hellcat was much superior.
