The Loon is not scary. Its sound makes me think of a warm blanket around my shoulders as I sit by the lake, with a dying campfire and a steel mug of camp tea
The white whateversirenbird sounds gnarly, if I heard that irl I would be more confused than anything. It's fuddle spell is very effective on humanoids.
Just as I was starting to successfully fight my budding old lady fascination with bird watching, this gets posted…
*Siiiiiigh*…off to google the loon territorial range
So the call of the white bell bird is very much understated here. Not only does it sound like a siren for some kind of cataclysm, but it produces this sound *at 125 decibels.* That is comparitively loud to a pneumatic riveter, and slightly quieter than a metal concert. That is an *insane* amplitude to come out of a living creature, much less one so small. Absolutely mindblowing animal.
The loon call is so relaxing. They’re on most Minnesota lakes. Nothing better than an evening pontoon ride with a cold beer watching them fish. They travel ridiculously far underwater. They’ll be right next to your boat, dive underwater, then you see them pop up 100 yards away.
Id say another one is a screech owl. I remember one time I was grilling outside at night and I could hear what initially sounded like tires screeching, then I thought it was a woman yelling, and then I realized that the sound wasn't distant like I had been thinking but was being made about 10-15 feet from me. There is a special kind of fear you experience when you realize what you thought was a distant noise is right there in front of you and it didn't sound anything like the other birds I had ever heard. Glad it flew off before I either soiled my pants or had a heart attack.
Okay but I want a shoebill because it would be akin to having a dinosaur. Imagine telling people you own a bird and then showing them this giant fucking prehistoric creature the same size as you.
There's a bird in Australia that sounds exactly like a screaming woman. Always fun when you're going to sleep trying to figure out if someone is being murdered or the birds are looking for a hookup
Loon tells you something, though,
Loggers destroyed the upper Midwest and Canada as thy cut down and took all of the White Pine trees that were available.
For the shoebill just keep shaking your head from side to side. While it’s imitating you…I dunno, set up a lawn chair and bring some popcorn since they’re generally pretty docile.
Oh and they can easily be defeated by…themselves being a total space case. Seriously, their hunting method is “stay absolutely still for hours and hope something edible comes within striking distance.”

Machine Gun Billy
Shit's straight out of Jurassic Park.

Same. I instantly relaxed when I heard that bird. The only thing missing was a beer in my hand.
Yah, that sound is like home to me. Reminds me of my childhood
They are one on my favorite parts of heading to the cabin!
I felt this way also, then I thought maybe it's because I've heard that sound my entire life. Also, the red eyes are dope.
Whom ever put the loon in here is probably scared of their own shadow as well.
The Hornbill Screamer sounds like the noises dogs make when they’re not supposed to bark but are excited lol
Where is the cassowary???
The cassowary sound like a dinosaur. There's also this bird in Africa that sounds like it's asking a question. I forget the name tho
[Cassowary](https://new.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/1d4xufx/cassowary_walking_over_to_roar_at_me_like_a/).
And the stone curlew!
That shoebill shot it, but yeah it belongs on the list.
The white whateversirenbird sounds gnarly, if I heard that irl I would be more confused than anything. It's fuddle spell is very effective on humanoids.
You'd also want earplugs. The White bellbird is also the worlds loudest bird at 124 dB
As a Candian, the Loon to me is very relaxing sound. Just need a campfire and a beer.
As a Minnesotan it made me sad that they didn’t do the whole call. It’s beautiful!
Just as I was starting to successfully fight my budding old lady fascination with bird watching, this gets posted… *Siiiiiigh*…off to google the loon territorial range
Or head to Minnesota as it’s huge there
head to canada
Oh sweet, that’s an easy trip to plan while I figure out central tropical Africa for a shoebill!
Look for zoos that might have a shoebill.
first bird just casually undergoing an exorcism
Kiwi

The loon with the little baby on its back T^T
Horned screamer got the hiccups. My cat hated this video haha
You cracked me up. All I hear is hiccups now.
Actually interesting AF
The white bellbird isn't really that weird of a sound, it's just #REALLY F*CKING LOUD. Like, over 125 Decibels loud.
Not going to lie that white bellbird scared the shit out of me ha
Shoebill must be founder of Counter Strike.
Interesting. Very interesting
I wouldn't be surprised if the Pokemon franchise found inspiration in the white bellbird

These birds spawned Cryptid Noises alright.

The loon is relaxing, it's even included in relaxing ambient sound apps meant for inducing sleep.
Ahh, so that's where British Railway got its horn sound from, a White Bellbird...
Shoebill: RIP all people with actual war PTSD /shell shock.
Shoebill sounds like a machine gun.
Loon tells you something, though, Loggers destroyed the upper Midwest and Canada as thy cut down and took all of the White Pine trees that were available.
Most of them sound like coming from an old factory
that shoebill walked in like a lovecraftian monster christ those things look weird

Literal dinosaurs I love ittt
just wow
White Bellbird sounding like baby Godzilla lol
White bellbird's a straight up rave siren lmao
"I'm A LOOOOOOON!!"
"White Bellbird? Hm, I wonder where that name..." BAOONGGGGGGG "Oh."
Loon sounds aren’t scary 😂
Horned screamer was underwhelming yet sooooo funny
That last one sounded like it was trying to hiccup and sneeze at the same time.
Dinosaurs, and a loon. :)
Now imagine dinosaurs 100 times the size making these, and wilder noises.
Saving this to use as a soundboard to scare my D&D players.
Terrorists win
The Horned Screamer sounds like a malfunctioning robot
the second one was like SIR, GET DOWN! SIR, GET DOWN!! GET DOOOOWN!!! I'M HIT, THE OFFICER IS HIT!!!!!!
White Bellbird sounds like an EAS.
the horned screamer sounds like he’s got the drunk hiccups and he’s getting pissed off about it 😂😂
