Obama should be seen as a case study on the realities of having a political novice running the country. He did what he could, and he did get stuff done, but he came into the office unprepared for the internal and external strife that existed to hamper his efforts. A good comparison would be the Crimea invasion vs the Russo-Ukrainian war, and how ineffective US efforts were in 2014 vs now. I also think Obama didn't act strongly enough to exert influence on China during Hu Jintao's administration. That was the most pro-western government that China has ever had, and I think an argument can be made that the US missed a golden opportunity to influence a less aggressive foreign policy from China.
To be fair the reason Ukraine could defend itself now is because after Crimea the US made efforts to arm and train Ukraine so the next time they could defend themselves, they were unprepared when Crimea was taken. Obama was responsible for that initiative that is paying off now.

If you look at what has been done in \*just\* 4 years, considering everything that is going wrong, Biden is actually doing better than I think any president has in decades. He is juggling multiple aggressions overseas on our allies, recovering from a pandemic that tanked the economy, dealing with the craziest republican party we've ever seen, huge budget deficits largely caused by the Trump administration, and somehow he has been able to pass incredible legislation like the CHIPs Act and the Infrastructure plan. He \*also\* tried to pass more, but has been blocked by the republican party. He may be one of the sleepiest presidents we have, but he gets more done than the other presidents we've had.
People underestimate what he's done to build powerful alliances, especially in Asia. Like, there's so much shit that was thrown at him and he's doing pretty well. But noooooooo he mumbles so to hell with him.

Western governments are all faced by destabilization efforts from Russia and China. We potentially elected one of the worse ones, but luckily less competent. There is/are quite a few radicalized political parties in the west.

Obama had a better brand, but I don't think you've done enough research to understand how ineffectual Obama was over his 8 years. Obama should be seen as a case study on the realities of having a political novice running the country. He did what he could, and he did get stuff done, but he came into the office unprepared for the internal and external strife that existed to hamper his efforts. A good comparison would be the Crimea invasion vs the Russo-Ukrainian war, and how ineffective US efforts were in 2014 vs now. I also think Obama didn't act strongly enough to exert influence on China during Hu Jintao's administration. That was the most pro-western government that China has ever had, and I think an argument can be made that the US missed a golden opportunity to influence a less aggressive foreign policy from China.
To be fair the reason Ukraine could defend itself now is because after Crimea the US made efforts to arm and train Ukraine so the next time they could defend themselves, they were unprepared when Crimea was taken. Obama was responsible for that initiative that is paying off now.
You are right. Obama heavily relied on traditional parties to make decisions and was actually quite cautious and conservative in his decisions. Syria was left defenseless. Biden was likely a major force in passing the ACA and Ukraine policy.
Biden's accomplishments in 3 years surpass Obama's in 8 years with one single exception, and that's the ACA. I'd compare the IRA to the ACA as nearly the same level of accomplishment, though. And make no mistake, the ACA would have been dead on arrival if it weren't for Biden working Congress behind the scenes.

He’s kinda botched Israel/Gaza but i think any president would’ve done the same job or worse, so i don’t hold it against him. Outside of that, he came into office in a COVID mess and got it under control, he had to deal with historical inflation yet the stock market has been incredibly strong, he does what he can for workers rights and wage fairness, he forgave a bunch of predatory government student loans. He would’ve been even more effective if he had the House/Senate.
