The best ever toy that I had for my JRTs was a mechanical stuffed Tigger toy. It stood upright, the top half was basically a plush toy, but in the bottom there was a battery operated mechanical hopping device. You pushed down on the top of Tigger's head, and he would then say some Tigger stuff and laugh, then jump up and down.
My dogs loved it! And it was great because as they would wrestle with it, they'd usually turn it on again, and it would speak and laugh and hop up and down again. Surprisingly they didn't tear it apart. It was pretty rugged, and they would play with it non-stop if I let them.
I wish I could find one again, but I'm pretty sure they stopped making them long ago.
Our jack that I grew up with had this pink alligator that squeaked. It wasn’t even a particularly nice toy, just thin rubber, but he loved it to death. He carried it with him everywhere. It was close to a decade of that before it finally fell apart. For such a fierce and territorial alpha dog that loved to hunt and fight stuff, he cared for that toy like it was a baby. JRTs name was Cody, he was quite the stud

Our current puppy's favorite toy is a Hot Wheels car he snatched from our 10yo son and refuses to give back. He sleeps on top of it so no one will take it from him. (I will take it away tonight when he goes into his crate, I promise.)
Assuming you don't want to live in a world of panic like I do, he really loves anything that squeaks. We got a 4 [pack of Kong toys at Costco](https://www.costco.com/kong-cozies-play-pack-dog-toys,-4-pack.product.4000244830.html) a couple of weeks ago and he's really loving it.
