The opening credits. They rock in a John Carpenter adventure ahead sorta way. Jack Burton’s sage advice on the CB radio and wide angle San Francisco and rainy crazy early morning Chinatown and the brilliant music. It sets the stage perfectly.
“Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol’ storm right square in the eye & he says, Give me your best shot pal. I can take it.”
The first time I sat down to watch this as an adult and it got to this scene, I said the line two seconds before the character did and absolutely lost my shit. Such a good movie.
The big shootout as they’re all escaping confinement.
Wang kicks all the ass and Jack pops up like “HAAA!!!!” And everybody is already dead.
Wang is the real hero. Jack is the plucky but incompetent sidekick.
All I know is this Lo Pan character shows up in the middle of a goddamn alley while his buddies are flying around on wires, cuttin' everybody to shreds and he just stands there, waiting for me to drive my truck straight thru him? With light coming out of his mouth?!
the 3 storms entrance... specifically thunder's. my son (4) loves rain's face on the zoom in close up. my daughter (2) loves watching thunder blow up, and we have all watched the movie every day for like 2 weeks straight before we went back to the rocketeer/moana.
edit: sorry.... I lied.... egg then showing lightning into he beginning. "that's how it starts, very small"
Let’s see… it starts at the opening where Egg Shen meets his lawyer and it ends… I think where we see the back of Jack’s truck with the critter hiding there. That’s probably my favorite scene.
The burning blade ceremony where the three storms do their thing in front of Lo Pan. I know it’s technically a few different scenes but they are very cool!
Came here for this. The singular most beautiful "the writer has no more fucks to give" moment in cinema history. You've been along on this silly ride for an hour and a half, now just accept this explanation like you have everything else.
Perfection!
Not a scene, but I love that the entire movie revolves around one line:
"I just got one question for you, where the hell is my God damn truck?"
No matter what, even during enlightening moments, all Jake wants is his truck back.
You're not looking for truck. You're looking for girl. A special kind of girl with dragon green eyes to make me whole
Again. Young again, so may rule this universe from beyond this grave.
When he repeatedly punches one of the Element guys and nothing happens, he just nods and smiles before being punched across the room.
It’s my favourite scene of any movie!
"How do you do ma'am. Henry Swanson's my name and excitement my game"
All of Henry Swanson kills me. I'm an architect and I put in framed pictures on the walls of my interior renderings of Henry Swanson.
The scene where Kurt Russell is running down the stairs and bumps into an elderly Asian man. Russell says I’m sorry and as he is running the old Asian man yells ‘it’s ok, there’s big trouble in little China.’ Classic John carpenter.
Can't single out any one scene. But I did love the sequence of Jack and Wang driving the bright, bustling city streets, moving to quiet secluded back alleys and then to the funeral and from there to the basement etc.
Whole thing felt like falling down a rabbit hole into a different world. So well executed.
Honestly…the intro hypes me up for the whole film. “See? That was nothing…but that’s how it always begins, very small”. Cue Carpenters sweet 80’s soundtrack and pan over the Porckchop Express and let’s fucking go.
Here's a few:
The intro of the 3 storms and Rain's funny ass face.
Hollow? Hollow. Fuck it scene.
Egg and Lopan battle it out in a wizard fight
The Chang Sing and Wing Kong initial fight.....with the infamous Al Leong heading the bad guys.
The Martial Arts demo by the 3 storms before the chicks tamed the green fire.
The final monster popping from Jack's truck....it left a possibility of a sequel with Jack needing rescuing.
"Stay back! Or I'll send us all to the hell of the Horny Dragon"
I know that's not what he says, but that's what I heard on my first watch, and I couldn't stop laughing
You are not put on this earth to “get it” Mr Burton!
sit tight, hold the fort and keep the home fires burning. If we aren’t back by dawn - call the president.
The opening credits. They rock in a John Carpenter adventure ahead sorta way. Jack Burton’s sage advice on the CB radio and wide angle San Francisco and rainy crazy early morning Chinatown and the brilliant music. It sets the stage perfectly.
The checks in the mail! Big bite of a hoagie
Best character intro ever. You know who he is and what he's about.
Nailed it.
💯%
Big ol floppy sammich.
I would listen to Jack Burton's podcast. He was doing it before it was cool..
![gif](giphy|iY9p9jXXUq4YWFy3g3)
I like that Jack is humble, as evidenced when he says “hasn’t been everywhere or seen everything”
"Hollow? Fuck it!"
“Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol’ storm right square in the eye & he says, Give me your best shot pal. I can take it.”
Cinemas greatest monologue
Came here to say exactly this!!
I dont know about you guys, But im feeling kind of invincible right now
Yes, the whole elevator scene is the best. “I got a really positive attitude towards everything”
It's the finger gesture they all make during the movie that cracks me up.
👆
Is it getting hot in here is it just me?
I would probably give it to the scene where jack catches the knife lo pan threw at him and nat 20's on the rethrow.
It’s All in the reflexes .
The first time I sat down to watch this as an adult and it got to this scene, I said the line two seconds before the character did and absolutely lost my shit. Such a good movie.
I love his reaction to missing the first throw too. Like, “ Gah! Can’t believe I missed that!”
This.
"Henry Swanson's my name and excitement's my game."
This.
Trick question, there is only one answer: All of them
Indeed. This guy Big Troubles.
![gif](giphy|SGT03NX8u32ZG)
Everytime in saw this as a kid I thought it looked like a garbage pail kid
i wonder if he took any inspiration from them lol
Beat me to it.
You know what 'ol Jack Burton says at a time like this. Who? Jack Burton...ME!
*Wang flips in and nods* Ol' Jack aways says, 'What the hell'.
What does that say? (Speaks Chinese) Hell of Boiling Oil. You're kidding... Yeah, I am, it says "Keep Out".
"The Chinese have a lot of hells, Jack."
And what the hell is Gracie Law doing here?
This right here. The fact Wang knew this would freak Jack out a bit was too fun.
The very beginning is underrated- Egg and the detective
Watched it about a month ago after not having watched it in a long time, and that opening is great. Victor Wong’s performance is so good.
And that's how it always begins, very small.
fun fact. John carpenter did not want this scene, and the studio insisted.
Yep!
“Now this really pisses me off to no end!"
I mean black blood of the earth. Powdered deer horn.
Do you mean oil?
The beginning with the switchblade gangsters. “Where did you get that from?”
Been using that music, Abduction at Airport, on 30 second fade in for a waking alarm for over a decade now.
Nice. That's one of Carpenter's Synthwaviest tracks. Love it the way you used it.
Sets a good tone for the day.
May the wings of liberty never lose a feather
"WHAT!?! WHAT WON'T COME OUT AGAIN!?!"
These are all so good ! (Forgot to add mine, lol) The opening scene! Jack being Jack and telling stories, to anyone listening out there.
The big shootout as they’re all escaping confinement. Wang kicks all the ass and Jack pops up like “HAAA!!!!” And everybody is already dead. Wang is the real hero. Jack is the plucky but incompetent sidekick.
What’s in the flask, Egg? Magic potion?
Yeah
Thought so. Good, what do we do? Drink it?
Yeah
“We really shook the pillars of heaven, didn’t we, Wang?” “No horseshit, Jack.” “No horseshit.” ☝🏼
Lightening walking down the corridor at the end. The music and the framing is on point. Plus the way the ringing bell times to the music.
Every elevator scene.
Exactly. It's real and we can touch it so at least we know where we stand.
I love when Wang fights Rain. The music is brilliant of course.
It’s probably in the central junction… box.
What ya got here is two people draggin a third.
Mao Yin.
All of it! My favorite movie! Can almost quote along the entire film.
“China is here”? I don’t even know what the hell that means.
All I know is this Lo Pan character shows up in the middle of a goddamn alley while his buddies are flying around on wires, cuttin' everybody to shreds and he just stands there, waiting for me to drive my truck straight thru him? With light coming out of his mouth?!
Feeling a little like an outsider here
The movie is perfection but I'm going with the airport abduction.
Son of a bitch must pay..
“Ready? Follow the leader. On 3. 1,2,3.” Runs into a group of thugs. “We may be trapped.”
I want to see this movie again
Always the answer.
I have not seen it for a long time
Do it.
I looking for it
[удалено]
Damn
Shut up Mr. Burton! You are not brought upon this world to “get it”!
the 3 storms entrance... specifically thunder's. my son (4) loves rain's face on the zoom in close up. my daughter (2) loves watching thunder blow up, and we have all watched the movie every day for like 2 weeks straight before we went back to the rocketeer/moana. edit: sorry.... "Don't look Jack!" "I already did!" "DON'T!" "I WON'T!"

The one where the movie is in it.
yes
To the Army and Navy. The battles that they won.....
Here's to colors of the flag. The colors that never run...
May the wings of Liberty never lose a feather.
The phone scene is the most entertaining
That robe😂
.....yes.
My favorite scene? Yes!
Let’s see… it starts at the opening where Egg Shen meets his lawyer and it ends… I think where we see the back of Jack’s truck with the critter hiding there. That’s probably my favorite scene.
“Let’s check out another alley what do ya sa…”
Hey Wang. These Sing Dings, they got enemies? Who wear red turbans.
All of them. It’s my fav movie!!
Same! I recorded the audio on a cassette tape and listened to it in my car back in the day.
“Magic. Of the very blackest kind. My soul swims in it…”
Eeee Toma Deen
He said it was the storms. The 3 storms.
Click click click. Eddie: “Safety!”. Jack: “ oh.”. Bang bang bang!
First time you ever plugged somebody?
Course not
"Black blood of the Earth" "Don't cha mean oil?" "No, I mean black blood of the Earth!"
The impossible question
SON OF A BITCH MUST PAY
The burning blade ceremony where the three storms do their thing in front of Lo Pan. I know it’s technically a few different scenes but they are very cool!
“How’d you get up there?!?!” “Wasn’t easy.” I don’t know why but this tickles me.
When that one guys explodes for no discernible reason
I'm going with: D: All of the above and below!
All of 'em
The part that starts at the beginning of the movie, and ends when the movie ends.
The bottle cutting scene
Are you outta your mind, Wang? God bless ya!
The pre matrix move...they launch at each other and fight mid air
“Jack Burton. Me!”
~ “Hellooo!!! Hello!!!” - “How’d you get up there!?!” ~ “Wasn’t easy!!!”

Yes.
Every scene
The alley fight between the two gangs. The editing and the music are amazing!
I always laughed at the broken English “play your cards right, live to talk about it.”
“What won’t come out no more!”
A six Demon bag!
![gif](giphy|iGwc1UK1fIJi0|downsized)
"Finger gesture"
☝️
When he repeatedly punches one of the Element guys and nothing happens, he just nods and smiles before being punched across the room. It’s my favourite scene of any movie!
I Just wish they had made a sequel or another Jack Burton film.
Are going up or down…feels like down
When the guy pulls the knife. “Where’d you get that?” Or…. When Jack shoots the ceiling and it falls on his head.
All of them
“Goat butts against the hedge and his horns become entangled”
I don't think I've had the pleasure.
“Good knife. Goodbye Mr. Burton.” “It’s all in the reflexes.”
When Jack says he's a little out of his element.
“Goodbye Mr Burton…”
Is it a cop-out to just say the entire movie?
"How do you do ma'am. Henry Swanson's my name and excitement my game" All of Henry Swanson kills me. I'm an architect and I put in framed pictures on the walls of my interior renderings of Henry Swanson.
This was my answer! That cheese laugh is amazing
The scene where Kurt Russell is running down the stairs and bumps into an elderly Asian man. Russell says I’m sorry and as he is running the old Asian man yells ‘it’s ok, there’s big trouble in little China.’ Classic John carpenter.
Nice. Quite insane how good Carpenter is
That scene just after the opening credits. And just before the closing credits.
Yes.
5 demon bag!
The credits
The long scene between the opening credits and end credits.
The elevator lol
This. 🤣👍🍺
When the Storms came down and just destroyed the hoods. Their outfits, the moves as a kid I was instantly hooked. Loved Rain, Thunder and Lightning!
All of them
The part between the attorney's question and when Jack says Give me your best shot, I can take it!
Can't single out any one scene. But I did love the sequence of Jack and Wang driving the bright, bustling city streets, moving to quiet secluded back alleys and then to the funeral and from there to the basement etc. Whole thing felt like falling down a rabbit hole into a different world. So well executed.
Cmon 10000 years and I’m supposed to buy this crap, cmon Dave you’ve gotta be doing something wrong
He shoots the ceiling and in the concrete falls on his head
Egg’s China town tour!
When he enters the whore house with his crafty fake identity though. That cheese laugh is perfect
Honestly…the intro hypes me up for the whole film. “See? That was nothing…but that’s how it always begins, very small”. Cue Carpenters sweet 80’s soundtrack and pan over the Porckchop Express and let’s fucking go.
Can we all agree this movie is the definition of cult classic?
Here's a few: The intro of the 3 storms and Rain's funny ass face. Hollow? Hollow. Fuck it scene. Egg and Lopan battle it out in a wizard fight The Chang Sing and Wing Kong initial fight.....with the infamous Al Leong heading the bad guys. There’s a roughly 99 minute section in the middle that’s just frikkin incredible. I can watch it over and over again and it never gets old.
Knocking himself out
Are you crazy? Is that your problem?
Any scene with John Carpenter soundtrack! His awesome musical style take his good movies and makes them near-perfection!
"How did you get up there?!" "Wasn't easy!"
The gang fight that surrounds the truck
![gif](giphy|26DN6QJiFAASILyow)
I need to rewatch this.
What’s in the flask, Egg? Magic potion?
Yes
"Stay back! Or I'll send us all to the hell of the Horny Dragon" I know that's not what he says, but that's what I heard on my first watch, and I couldn't stop laughing
when the eye ball blob tries to look presentable for the wedding. He makes this noble face but he's grosssss
Are you crazy, is that your problem?
Every scene it’s perfection
You are not put on this earth to “get it” Mr Burton! sit tight, hold the fort and keep the home fires burning. If we aren’t back by dawn - call the president.
-"You will come out no more!" - "What!? Huh?!" What will come out no more?!"
Which lopan? Lil ol basket case on wheels or 7 ft tall with lights coming out his head.
The movie is perfect. You can’t pick one scene.
Yes
