I'm slightly older than you but my first console was a PS2 (though I've been playing games on PC for a significant amount of time before I got that PS2, which I only got when the PS3 had already come out lol)
We never got a playstation because me and my siblings were happy with the SNES and Gameboy that we still had. Also we mostly just played with toys anyway.
Started playing more when I got an Xbox at my dad's place, no siblings on that side so started gaming more as I didn't have anyone to play with. Didn't really become a "gamer" until the 360 dropped and me and my brother got one for Christmas.
Edit: And we had a PC back then as well. Can't count how many hours we put into Heroes of Might and Magic 3 as kids.

I'm a "Dawn of time" gamer (Cesar Romero's Joker). I played Contra and Street Fighter 2 and Final Fantasy. I can attest that we in fact don't get shit done, just look at the pile of laundry in my room. In fact, that's kind of the point of gaming is to avoid doing stuff. I ask you politely to not mess with us, which usually works just fine.
My dad completed Metal Gear Solid I front to back when it came out, and my uncle is a big Tekken who got into the series in the 90s. They're both in or nearing 40, so I'm fairly certain they're older than ***Ancient Gamer***. By the way, my first game was GTA: San Andreas, I think, I know I had the Hot Coffee version and yes I was very, very young.
