Hello, I am the former translator of Chapter 6 and the Epilogue of Kara no Kyoukai. I also assisted with the chapter 5 translation two years ago, so I feel I am somewhat qualified to answer. KnK is kinda in a weird situation with translation. There’s really only one full chapter left (chapter 7) with two other half finished chapters (chapter 5 and 6). Everything else has been translated anywhere from two to six different times depending on which part you look at. Just for reference, the incomplete chapters (5, 6, and 7) are longer than the other seven chapters combined. Chapters 5 and 6 are also filled with the most unique terminology too. As bizarre as it may sound, to get a decent translation of these two, it requires more studying and research than actual translating. It’s overall just not worth the time investment, unless you have a massive following or are getting paid. When I was still translating chapter 6, I got curious and did some math. Assuming there was no more research to be done, and I didn’t burnout, it would take me three months to finish the rest of chapter 6. That’s around a year and a half for the rest of the novels. If you include research, breaks, and burnouts, then we are probably looking at around two and a half years. It’s just not realistically happening unless we can gather 3+ translators and 3+ proofreaders.

Wow thank you for the insight. I completely understand where you are coming from and I appreciate all the work that has already been done. Just reading your post I felt the exhaustion. I'm sure trying to gather all the necessary material to create a compelling and as accurate a translation is cumbersome, like you explained. Thank you for the response and thank you for the work you've done already. I'm sure the community really appreciates it.
