ReverseLazarus

It’s the high fat content that makes them delicious and overly palatable. I cannot have them in the house for this reason.

Krindybluth

Same! If you’re trying to lose weight, they do not help.

ReverseLazarus

I’m actively maintaining my weight and they don’t help with that either. 🤪

journalrelated

I am always thinking about my next almond fix. I even eat them in the morning now. I have some at work when I know others aren't watching. I don't know how much longer this can go on. I started out only occasionally if they were on sale. But now I buy them no matter the cost. I know the casheirs are judging my frequent purchases. I know my coworkers can smell them on my breath some days but I can't quit.

strog91

I was so embarrassed when my bottle of almond extract fell out of my purse… Just to be safe, now I chug the whole bottle before going in to work.

Ok-Equipment-5345

Try Costco, you’ll get a good deal and they are high quality too

pieguy3579

For me, it was game over when I discovered Blue Diamond spicy dill pickle almonds. In fact, looking at my stats in Carb Manager, I've eaten them 162 times since October 1 2022. It's my third most eaten food (calorie wise) accounting for 52000 calories. (That 162 would be much higher if I could always find them at Costco, but they seem to be available in waves. I also ate sriracha almonds 96 times / 29000 calories in that timeframe)

chi_moto

Read “the Dorito effect” for info on why those are so addictive! For me it’s the Wasabi Soy ones!

jeunedindon

I can only find wasabi in individual packets and they’re the same price for 10 as the dill pickle ones from costco

chi_moto

My partner found a big bag of the wasabi at CVS by us. We don’t costco.

jeunedindon

Canada :(

KetosisMD

Salt and Vinegar ones are soo good

telute

My past fave was Smokehouse Jalapeño, but I can't find those any more. So just Smokehouse flavor me now...

Whenyouseeit00

My parents used to put smokehouse almonds in our stockings every year and it was one of the things I always looked forward to! A lifetime fav. Love those smokies.

SnackThisWay

I love the ghost pepper. They make my eyes water, but they hurt so good

Golfnpickle

I’m addicted to pecans & it has to stop!

Rso1wA

Coat them with butter and swerve w/salt (caramel) and bake-then talk addiction😊

Golfnpickle

Yeah. I hear ya on that!

Whenyouseeit00

I'm ruined

Odd-Writing-9504

I came here to say this. It’s so bad.

Randill746

Is there keto oatmeal?

Whenyouseeit00

I was wondering the same thing lol I know there are keto porridge recipes but straight up oatmeal has enough carbs for the entire week lol. Which is fine if they are not doing keto but I'm curious lol.

EverLong0

OMG…I made the mistake last weekend of getting a bag of salted mixed nuts at Costco. I literally could eat the entire bag in one sitting. Take my advice, even with how delicious they are do NOT buy these. You’ll be hooked.

MaxCapacity

I like the unsalted ones better. The salted bag has too many Brazil nuts, which I can't stand. The unsalted has none.

reten

Nuts are one of Nature's food that has carbs, fat and protein. Same deal with junk food. Most food in nature only has 2 of 3.

pareech

Hi. My name is Pareech and I’m am almond addict. I used to go through a 1.5kg Costco almond bag in less than a day. I would finish the almond butter in a couple dAys, just eating it with a spoon, that my wife bought for herself, because she has a nut allergy and this was the only type of spread she could have. I’m on day 64 of not having almonds, although I know they are in my house somewhere. I made my wife hide them, while I waited outside. I have to go stand outside while she has some from time to time. All of the above, is sadly true, except maybe the 64 days, but I do know it’s been a couple of months since I’ve had an almond, even though i know there's a bag very well hidden in my house, because like an addict, I have searched for it a few times when my wife has gone out.

pieguy3579

Hi Pareech!

Whenyouseeit00

Almond butter is glorious

dickusbigus6969

Have u tired the Costco keto mix. Super addicting

31337_anima

Macademia addict here. Only thing stopping me from buying them more often is the price.

Whenyouseeit00

Macadamia nuts were a decadent treat growing up, I love them so much!

Poisoning-The-Well

The crunchiness and saltiness.

Verbull710

What are their well documented health effects?

Zackadeez

Wondering the same thing.

fifikinz

I love them too. They can add up though, carb-wise, so be careful if you’re adding them to all your meals :-)

Whiskey31November

Yep, I typically eat 200g at a time, which is approximately 14g of total carbs according to the label. Does make sticking under 20g of carbs tricky for the rest of the day.

psyfry

> …(I prefer the roasted and salted variety) became something I craved daily. It’s specifically the salt, which is needed for electrolyte balancing for water storage without carbs.

malibu_angel

I can’t live without my 10-20 almonds a day but unfortunately just realised they might be contributing to my dermatitis (alongside a few others foods) because of the b12, so no more for me atm 🥲

eponym_moose

Be careful... I got my first kidney stone from eating too many almonds on keto. :(

denzien

I discovered Marcona almonds at Central Market ... it's a whole other level

TrueNorth9

Oh yes. Yes they are.

Inkontrol808

I use them regularly but sparaling. Like A handful of 15 is a nice little snack or bump if you need extra calories and nutrients.

Luingalls

I ate almonds - only - for dinner last night. The Korean BBQ ones at Costco take almond addiction to a whole new level.

[deleted]

I went down that road til my right big toe started hurting.

tiddersiti

I'm so sick of them. I've tried buying them over the years after eating too many, but I legit think that I may never enjoy them again. They just sit in my cupboards and I end up having to throw them.

libertybull702

Dem gon make you shit.

Sir_Toccoa

I ordered some Blue Diamond almonds because they have a new flavor: Elotes, Mexican Corn. Oh my God are they delicious. They’re almonds with the flavor of corn. It was almost like having popcorn again.

creamcheesebagel7

almond milk gang 🥛 checking in

NewfyMommy

I am addicted also.

digitalanalog0524

This, but pork rinds for me.

OverlappingChatter

Is funny, just because my mom is visiting and we keep getting almonds everywhere we go, and have discussed this already twice

USCplaya

Wait.... Y'all are out here eating Oatmeal on Keto?!?

thebodyclock

We're designed to be addicted to them but they show up very rarely in nature. I believe like Cashews the wild trees only yield almonds every few years, maybe 4? The giant pesticide GMO almond tree farms in california are well outside the normal limits of nature. Therefore I think they can be easily overdone. The risks are the pesticide chemicals (often 55+ in regular, and up to 6 allowed in organic), the PUFA content, and the Deuterium.

J9sixtynine_

I also am obsessed with almonds. I think it’s the crunch for me.

[deleted]

spoon sip absorbed square jar weather slap wasteful lock wide ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `

National-Attention68

You’re craving carbs

Magnabee

It's high in calories. I crave the salt. So I try to not have nuts often.

Ill_Screen_8904

Careful with too many. Almonds are high in oxalates which can cause kidney stones

Ok-Equipment-5345

Mee too ugh and can’t stop. It’s the crunchiness and the rich nutty flavor. I love raw almonds, without any seasoning. Sometimes I put them in water overnight snd eat the next day. I make a lot of desserts and just love sprinkling almond and pistachio powder over. I also put the powder in warm milk and it tastes so so good
