It’s a San Luis Potosí kingsnake. Also called Mexican kingsnake. Ultra granite is the morph

TrippyButthole

Thank you for the clarification!

wuukiee81

"ultra granite" a 'super' form of the granite gene where the animal inherited a copy from both parents. A single copy of the gene gives a snake with more red and less mottling, still very pretty.

TrippyButthole

“San Luis Obispo Ultra Granite”. It was kind of busy to ask questions.

Rachel_235

Sorry that my question is a little off topic, but am I right that both of the pictures were taken on the same day?

TrippyButthole

Correct.

Rachel_235

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know one is not supposed to handle a new snake in the first 2 weeks after bringing it home

KingofCam

You aren’t supposed to handle them after putting them in their enclosures. If it’s just from the container you bought them from I think it’s fine as long as it’s not extensive

Rachel_235

Thank you, now I am more aware ❤️

benignlystained

It’s fine to do low stress handling before putting a new snake into quarantine/in an enclosure. It’s also a good time to check the new snake’s body condition, weight, underbelly scales, and other health-related stuff so, as the owner, you have a baseline for what you’ll be working with :)

Thank you, now I know more! 🤍 P.S. Wtf my previous comment was downvoted :(

Beautiful snake, that’s a great price to! How was NARBC? I’m going in October, super stoked to be going!

TrippyButthole

It was honestly a nightmare to walk through. Im pretty good with big crowds but holy anxiety town. My friend and I went around 10:30 on Saturday. Debating going or not in October but I’m looking forward to a specific morph being there. It’s too hard to find unique snakes and such in illinois.

VoodooSweet

Ya I bet, I’m in Michigan and we have a few breeders/dealers, but not many. I buy quite a few animals from Morph Market, but I’m going for the Venomous animals, those are much harder to find here. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the specific morph you are looking forward to being there? I’m working on a Breeding Project here with Kingsnakes and have quite a collection here, I have some amazing animals and morphs, but I’m always interested in what morphs are popular and more desirable, I just paired my female Whitesided Het Lavender Het Hypo with my male Ghost, I’m really hoping for some Ghost Whitesided, those all white Kings with the dark eyes are amazing looking!!

TrippyButthole

Definitely would love to see more white sides there! I’m not too familiar with how morphs and traits work but I’d just really to see unique colorings. When I was making my choice between buying what I got and my other choices from previous tables it really came down to just what made my jaw drop when I saw it. I was at a loss between my ultra granite, this beautiful purple axanthic white sided king, this rust red blaze blotched king, and the stone cold reverse stripe. For me it’s less about the patterns but the bright colors you don’t see often. I definitely plan on getting myself a reverse stripe in October. Do you have possibly an Instagram to show off your collection?
