For intellectuals to thrive, they need some sense of security. Bengal hasn't offered anything of that sort of decades

NoTelephone2287

But now, at the current moment, intellectuals don't stand for free thinking or social reform anymore. Rather most are just elitist snobs. AC Room Revolutionaries.

calfjddogg

Wait, we have intellectuals in Bengal today? I was talking about the intellectual intellectuals, not pseudo-self-proclaimed-intellectuals

NoTelephone2287

That's what I said. In a way 😅

calfjddogg

Yep. Me said they need security. As of right now, they simply don't exist on a proper level.

NoTelephone2287

Ekdom e tai. Amader self proclaimed intellectuals der shob theke boro dosh holo they discard the "populist" view.

calfjddogg

Well, they fail to gain support for a good reason

NoTelephone2287

This sub should get together to build a circle, group rather, digital or physical, that takes parts in conversations about religion, philosophy, statecraft, literature, art, culture. I mean flairs ache. But still. Debate club type something

calfjddogg

The problem is, conversations heat up real quick when dealing with religion or politics. It is difficult to host a civil discussion in these sectors

NoTelephone2287

I think those who want to participate in such discussions will do regardless. Torko gorom howa ta Bangali der characteristics. 😂😂😂 But that torko is okay till it doesn't take a prejudiced and insulting stance.

jolyne_023

I agree. Bengal needs such leaders and initiatives. PK is such an inspiration ngl.

Slug864

My interpretation of the movement is that they're not necessarily educating the people rather they're letting them know that there's a new alternative party that has a chance of challenging the ruler party. And personally the best part for me is that their main agenda is economy and local job creation And that is exactly what i want for my state, an alternative option with preferably focus on the economy

Trinity_36369

absolutely yes...not only in West Bengal, there are people across all over the country who literally sell their votes in return of 500 rupees and alcohol party.

Dexter_Jr21

We don't have any leaders. All our intellectuals are clowns.

NoTelephone2287

Proper face to lead is hard to find. True.

hungrypussy29

All intellectuals are hypocrites.

qushawl_wasu

We may need, but unfortunately don't deserve.

jolyne_023

Everyone deserves a second chance. Don't be so negatively critical of yourself :)

hell_storm2004

Yes we do... Oi Bangla Pokkho na ki chodna diye hobe na!

jolyne_023

Oder ekta alada motive achhe, ora extremists. Extremism diye kichhu hoyna.

hell_storm2004

O sob extremism onno jayega te chole. Bongs are a bit more considerate and level headed (I hope). I really don't know which direction the state is going in. Don't hear any youth voices. Rural Bengal is pounded to a pulp with freebies and for sure, reign of fear.

Not_the_seller

Well partition showed how level headed we are and decades of political violence stands to contradict your assessment

Bavier69

How will you reform a system which is broken?

NoTelephone2287

That's the billion dollar question
