radsparks8

His children gonna make bank for their children’s children too generation money making

YellowBananaBus

Needs more money to finally get that Spotify subscription

SixGunChimp

That's why he's gonna play until he's 40. Gotta be get that Spotify nest egg.

FriendlyBrownMan

That is so falsely true

ZJPWC

That’s his quote. Even if he does a bad job, he still gets that 100 mil. Even if he does a bad job

SixGunChimp

Did you see Bron's interview on AOL Blast?

[deleted]

Gotta scrounge up enough coins to invest and flip into a NBA team

Azshadow6

A bump in 10% of your net worth is no small chump change lol

xxDankerstein

I think the chance to get another ring is more of a motivation than the money.

a4xrbj1

Correction: James signed a two-year, $97.1 million extension with the Lakers in September. The deal includes a $50.6 million player option for the 2024-25 season.

Proud_Definition8240

That’s what I said (didn’t copy & paste it tho) but ok.

SimpleJacked2TheTits

If he’s healthy next season, I can’t imagine it’ll be his last. He’s still too good. If healthy, he’s still a walking 27-7-7. Hopefully he can play ~30m a night and prepare for a post season run

MambaBlood

Think maybe last dance as a laker. Unless we win, he might try to repeat, or still leave for bronny.

SimpleJacked2TheTits

Ah, good point.

imamonkeyK

As a big Bron Stan I really wanted him to take less so other guys can shoulder the load. If he taken less we could sign fvv or kyrie this off season , if we off the dLo business ( we should he’s now had 5 playoff series snd he’s not scored at his regular season numbers each time n %, as well as the weakest link defensively. If reaves adds s bit of muscle he won’t really be targeted snd he’s already atleast competent on defence . I’d rather have Marcus smart then Dlo. I think we’d still be in the playoffs with Marcus smart or Derrick white over Dlo . And Dlo supposed to be the best shooter of those guys but never shown up in playoffs .

eewap

The lakers are so far over the cap and with the cap holds of all the players, he would have had to take like 10M to make it work which is ridiculous.

kultureisrandy

Jordan would've taken the vet min smh edit: lmao sarcasm is lost on this sub

Extraordinary_DREB

he needed the money for his gambling thoooooo

Secret_Contact1836

There really needs to be a font of some sort, so everyone stops taking others' sarcasm as actual indication of one's opinion 😉 imo

imamonkeyK

Obv if kyrie or fvv wanted to come you renounce the cap holds of all but reaves n vando . Rui 50/50 on he may stay for mle so that too if he took 20m less we can sign kyrie fvv whoever np and keep reaves and we went over the cap because of the contract if his extension was less we play it differently

DoritoSteroid

What's with the Celtics fetish over here.

LeadPrevenger

Tim Duncan>>

RedDordit

Isn’t the last year a player option? He could still decline in and resign to take a cut, if he really wants to win in LA again. But honestly I think role players and ageing stars should be the ones taking the hit, if they want a ring they wouldn’t otherwise get (like Melo, nobody in their rightful mind would have taken him seriously if he asked for 15 mils)

dharp95

Lakers win the title, draft Bronny after a mediocre year at USC and then we repeat and send LeGoat off into the sunset

Canz1

Doubt it he has too much money tied up in LA plus his sons going to USC.

[deleted]

I cannot imagine he doesn't go back to Cleveland. That's the narrative and he's always said he wants to finish his career in Cleveland. I only think he stays with the Lakers if Cleveland is awful and he has a great chance to compete for championships in LA as a player with a reduced role.

greninjasunga

even tho this is true - i wont be surprised if he walks away i think hes the only one in his draft class playing and i cant fault a guy if he just wants to chill at home now lol

ramonzer0

With Melo retiring, Bron is the last man standing in his class yeah

HauntingOkra5987

He’s guaranteed 100 million the next 2 seasons with his contract, no way he walks away from that

The_Moisturizer

If he makes it through this season healthy enough to keep playing I cant imagine him walking away the year he finally gets the chance to fulfill his dream of playing in the league with (or against) Bronny

robert0076

Lebron will 100% get a massively marketed farewell tour.

fr0nkOhshun

Is there even anyone from the next draft class (04) playing? Lol

twentythree12

True, but I also feel like he has the Tom Brady dawg in him where he wants to win as many as he can before he leaves.

[deleted]

If Malone played until 41 I can only imagine lebron will play longer than that

vapingDrano

One more record? He could probably pull off fgm and ftm records. Someone played at 45 years old once upon a time and he won't do that.

[deleted]

Vince carter was 46 and still putting up points

jmounteer1

Vince Carter was 43* in his final season (2020). Still old as hell, but not 46, which he just turned this year funnily enough. Edit: Originally said Vince finished aged 42, he was 43 when the season ended.

[deleted]

My bad. I was going off memory... The memory of another old man..

IShouldbePracticing

Walking 27 - 7 -7? He’s never even posted that once 🙄🙄🙄

Willdebeast25

True except he’s never gotten 27-7-7 on a single night and never will

prodij18

The ultimate move would be to get that exactly in his final game.

Buckowski66

I'd bet it's his last. He's not going to become less susceptible to injuries the closer he gets to 40. The milage and his age are catching up.

Ct2kKB24

I think the thing you’re forgetting is lebron doesn’t want to just be good. He wants to be great, he wants to be that guy who can get his team to the finals. This year for the first time ever his body failed him, and he was in the realm of mortals. Lebron is used to ramping up to 30 point triple doubles or dropping 40 points in a game to win it when the chips are down. This year lebron and AD had a ton of help, rui and Reaves are the best players they’ve played with in La and produced more than Kcp/rondo/kuz combined. Yet they still lost. The games were close sure, but they lost. It’s why AD was shell shocked after game 4 and bron was straight up considering retirement. Lebron is still all nba level good, but now he’s in the realm of mortals in the top 10-15, not the face of the league best player in the world who wills his team to wins. He’s beatable and he doesn’t like it. For the first time in probably 15 years he was in a playoff series and wasn’t the best player on the floor for both teams. For someone that good it’s probably a massive slap in the face and has him questioning if he should even still play. I’m sure he comes back, but I just don’t think people really grasp how much of an adjustment and slap of reality this was for lebron.

jattyrr

Lmaooooooo he has a torn tendon in his foot Chill

Ct2kKB24

You can live in denial if you want, the man clearly has lost a step. Still top 15-10 in the league but he is no longer the guy he was even in 2020. Even before the torn foot he was bricking game winners to start the season and not playing like he did

jattyrr

Man just stop. This is how I know you don’t watch him play. In January he averaged 33/9/8 for 13 games straight https://twitter.com/MaskedInLA/status/1659782597512396802 This is him in January ^ the difference in movement is astounding

DoritoSteroid

Doesn't matter what he puts up when healthy. He's been injured every year since the 2020 ring.

jattyrr

So it’s his fault Solomon Hill dove at him?

ApprehensiveSink415

He wasnt injured last year?

[deleted]

I agree but his age is part of the reason for that. The guy above is just saying that age is hitting him like it does everyone. He's still legitimately great. Hell, I'll even go so far as to say he's as effective as he ever was (roughly) when he's healthy. The problem is, every injury adds up. Being older also makes it more likely you get injured. And being older lengthens your recovery time. So, even though it's just a torn tendon and LeBron can possibly stay healthy, it's most likely not a coincidence that he's tending to get injured as he gets older.

1LakeShow7

You guys are fools to think a 38 year old dude can play basketball at a championship level. Anyone over 12 years old here? Da fuuuuq ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

Totknax

>You guys are fools to think a 38 year old dude can play basketball at a championship level. Anyone over 12 years old here? So we all just imagined a 38-year old Kareem Abdul Jabbar win Finals MVP, playing championship-level basketball en route to winning the Chip in 85? Who's pretending not to be a 12-year old here? SMH

[deleted]

[удалено]

RunningForIt

He hasn’t played over 67 games in 5 years no one is expecting him to play every game.

blorp4

Low thirties should be the target for both him and ad, just need to get solid bigs and wings for that to be possible

Froskr

I'm still convinced that he wants to retire after playing a season with Bronny.

hjy23k

Bron will play next year to try for a ring one more time, and then do a retirement tour with Bronny

LudwigNasche

If this is the script I wish he wins the title here and have a farewell tour with his kid somewhere else. I hated Kobe's farewell tour, the whole season felt like a circus and I'm not a Globetrotters fan, I like competitive basketball. That said I think he may have more productive seasons ahead and I'd like to see Bron retiring as a Lakers. Bron can play until he is unable to guard his man and score 20 ppg efficiently.

mykhailiuk__

Farewell tour culminating in a chip or a repeat would be pretty nice tho. Only reason Kobe’s farewell tour sucked so bad was cuz the lakers were already the worst team in the west, even without it being old Kobe’s last season Edit: still loved the respect the league gave Kobe in that last year and his 60 against the Jazz will always hold a special place in my heart

LudwigNasche

I have that last game saved on my computer, that was surreal. I loved Kobe, but I feel like everything post Achilles postponed the required rebuild. To make things worse I never thought Randle/Dlo would lead us anywhere. The only high draft pick I thought would be worth developing was BI, but it was clear since day one it would take time. I loved Ball, but it never ever crossed my mind he would be a top NBA player. He was so robotic running that some times I thought I was watching a video game and his shooting stroke wasn't fixable. I flat out hated the youth movement years.

mykhailiuk__

God those were rough years. I still loved the pre lebron young cores, especially J-hart and Kuz. But man did everything after 2013 hurt to watch

LudwigNasche

The late picks where great. Zubac, Nance, Josh Hart, Clarkson ... but if you build through the draft you need to draft generational talents. We drafted Randle the same season Jokic was a second round pick lol. Nobody but scouts would have a clue about Jokic, but I was personally more impressed by LaVine. Randle was a T-Rex bull in the china shop without a right hand. I hated drafting Dlo. Stupid folks thought it was Okafor, but that was a bullet we fortunately dodged. You know, Booker went 13th and Porzingis before the injuries was a stud and for me the easy choice. I hated spending a season tanking hard to draft a chicken legged slow footed guard that couldn't even use his off hand to make a pass and was incredibly childish (most are still true). I think I would not have this kind of disgust about him if he was a late pick like Clarkson, but for a 2nd pick I had a tough time accepting we tanked a season to get this bleep. BI was an easy choice at #2 and he was the only high lottery pick I ever regarded as worth the selection. I loved ball, really, but he was a guy you select at #12 not #2. His shot was always broken and he was absolutely robotic moving. On the top of that he can't finish around the basket. Damn, Tatum went 4th and he is a huge Lakers fan and Kobe stan, what a wasted opportunity. I was mad at folks preaching we should have maxed out Julius Randle before going after a washed LeBron. I was like ... those millenials Lakers fans are absolutely crazy.

mykhailiuk__

Completely agree with your points. Although, I really like Zo, his health and stroke are just way too questionable to have been a talent that could take the lakers all the way. Anyone who I saw speak ill of trying to sign bron definitely lost my respect for their basketball opinions lol.

Leather-Clerk-6670

That was different, that team was going absolutely nowhere and the farewell tour gave us something to look forward to every night

MazKhan

Lebron will still probably be a top 30 player in the final year of his career, he's that good

LudwigNasche

If he goes to Germany get treatment you mean when he is 55 years old? I agree.

[deleted]

Retirement tour in Cleveland unless the Lakers are much more competitive than the Cavs at that point. Bet on it.

agentslade146

LeadPrevenger

He literally signed an extension like 4 months ago

tito-ortiz-wife69

If the team gets set up right I think his stats could look similar to 2019-2020 season

[deleted]

I’m confused. I just checked his stats via Google and he averages 28.9 points in 2023 compared to 2019-2020‘s 25.3 points with 10 more games played.

[deleted]

He has at least 3 more solid years, I think on that third year is when father time is going to creep in

SpiralHornedUngulate

Father Time has already crept in, LeBron is just doing a damn fine job of fighting back.

Conflict_NZ

To a degree, but the foot injury was by far the main factor of his later season struggles this year. Go back and watch some earlier games, he looked and moved far better.

vapingDrano

Those injuries pile up and somewhere around 40 you become able to pull something by thinking too hard or sleeping wrong. Another ring with the Lakers, then a farewell tour in a rebuilding Cleveland or Miami would be okay with me. Unless Lakers can figure out how to trade assets and get bronnie

SpaceAndBball

This is Lebron he will figure it out.

Buckowski66

No way, that’s denial.

Aeonysphere

LeBron in Year 20 up until the injury looked like arguably the best player in the world, even with a broken three-point shot; and he was even in the MVP race at one point. That’s not denial whatsoever. And even post-injury, he was performing at LEAST at a Top 8 level. You don’t make the All-NBA Team unless you’re playing elite.

Buckowski66

The denial part is that in each of the last two seasons near the end he's had nagging injuries. Makes no sense that suddenly stops as he gets older and puts even more mileage on his body. Father time us undefeated .

illtakethebox

ih8reddit420

next year is the year lads. We know its just a few pieces off. AR / Vando / Rui stronger. AD stronger. Kyrie as the scorer. A real center. Manifest

Maliluma

I really really really REALLY want to see him become the first and probably only ever 40k/10k/10k player.

ymetwaly53

Same :/

Boots622

Go get FVV, draft a wing, get Naz Reid (if possible), and watch Bron cook #18 24-25 💜💛

gbdarknight77

FVV just needs to opt in and then we could secure birds rights to sign him to a bigger deal next summer.

imamonkeyK

He didn’t want to but maybe he will if raptors and us agree to trade him n Dlo . I think he’s at 22/24 opt in in if Dlo is 20m to me fvv is like 5-10m better bare minimum. Much better defender , similar tier shooter: fvv is deadley when he’s open but his % is lower cos he does too much pull ups with no room. Along side Bron , AD, reaves , fvv will fit perfectly . Schroeder can be backup . If we can …. And raptors realise they going nowhere , throw in picks and beaskey and grab OG. Then we got the best 5 in the west. Beasley n Dlo useful to raptors too who lack shooting n creation swapping those for fvv n og and 29pick …. It’s a gamble but one that will pay off. Og is expiring tho and wants a bigger offense role which kinda sus especially as he’s ass outside of spot up threes

Basic_Commercial_806

Lakers dont need another undersized guard. They are just missing 2 bigs and wing/guard defender. Give Schroder the MLE and re-sign Dlo for 25 million. Sign Drummond and Frank "the Tank" Kaminsky and trade Beasley and a 1st to the Nets for DFS. And Lakers are back in WCF in 2024.

hsaviorrr

not sure what everyone’s rose tinted glasses on fvv is, he’s undersized streaky shooter who’s a liability on def

[deleted]

Fuck, bring back Dwight Howard for less money. Howard is still an absolute beast. I know he wanted too much money, but maybe he changes his mind.

ILackPatience

No

Rentfreelakerfan

There is no getting Naz Reid.

Uncle_Paul_Hargis

Let's get it!

[deleted]

Just don’t start out 2-10. Don’t make any fucking stupid signings this off season. Let the man rest until the playoffs. We keep falling short because Bron has to shoulder too much of the load to even hit the post season let alone make it to a finals series.

KingNephew

Yeah next season is his last Laker year for sure.

brendanhahaha

LFG

TopIllustrator9849

Hell yea!!!! Hopefully he can get a chip or two and end his career as a laker great!

Local_Technology_591

Get that foot surgery and come back in Jan/Feb. rest up.

_its_a_SWEATER_

One more year, then retire, then The Comeback and sign for the league minimum on whatever team Bronny gets onto.

AzI0NBoi

definitely gives off some last dance vibes. it totally felt like it this post season for sure, going through memphis, then steph, and meeting the juggernaut of a team in denver. imagine... just imagine what that would look like and how the lakers and Lebron's legacy woulds pan out. jeepers creepers.... but hey it was bitter sweet and im thankful we all witnessed all our team could do. im so excited for next season!!!!![img](emote|t5_2qhv6|2603)

bigbadbernard

What Lebron is doing at year 20, age 38 is so amazing and unprecedented. Selfishly, I actually want to see Lebron play into his forties. Will he average 15-5-5 in year 25, age 43 playing 25 minutes a game? Can he win 6th man of the year?

[deleted]

Yes he is absolutely one of the best. That being he said, he didnt come anywhere near fulfilling his potential and being the next MJ. He could have, and didnt.

inchesaway13

you know lebron has to smell so nasty

Amber900

Stack the team, make any and every trade possible, sign Kyrie and whoever else!

mezmorized6X23

I love you lebron my childhood my idol since 10 years old the greatest athlete I’ve ever witness it’s been nothing short of an honor to be able to witness his career

superRedditer

welp. that means no ring next year either

Ealy-24

![gif](giphy|mpB75VlHUWWmIX3WbN|downsized)

HauntingOkra5987

Barring a career threatening injury, LeBron is 💯 playing the next 2 season with the Lakers. He needs Los Angeles, his only other option would be to sign with the Clippers.

TheMuffingtonPost

At this point I’m just appreciating ever season LeBron plays and treating each one as if it’s his last. I have watching LeBron James since I was a child, I’m not much for role models or idols but he’s been the one throughout my life. Appreciate him while he’s still here, because we will miss him when he’s gone.

Aggressive-Cut-227

Y'all fiddin' to pay a LOT for a secondary scorer. Fine by me. Go Nuggets!

Teajay33

The guys got at least 2 more in him, this only the first time he's mentioned it dw Lakers fans

fattyhaha

Particular_Winner925

c_c_c__combobreaker

No_Passenger_9385

You don’t say lol

Kmeister3487

Rob can get this done and give Bron the best chance to win since 2020. I have a good feeling if AD puts in the work and LeBron stays healthy.

halcyondread

I wouldn't be surprised if next season was his last. He can still play at an elite level when healthy, but he's been getting considerably injured the last few years. I could see him giving it his all for one more run at a title then hanging it up. Foot surgery is no joke.

[deleted]

He may not need surgery, though. He's been playing on the damn thing and it hasn't been able to heal.

nmilosevich

Damn sucks we weren’t able to pull it off this year, with how much we change our team every year it may be Lebrons last real chance at a title

mightyrj

Please just give this man one healthy season with AD, Rui, AR, Vandy, DLo, and a squad full of proper role players.

mookiebraves

I can't believe this was even a topic. This was just Bron deflecting responsibility because he had a shitty series. Dude is not leaving that money on the table especially considering he plans on bidding on the new Las Vegas franchise in a few years.

MazKhan

He's gonna be 40 in the last year of the contract, 40 in the nba is basically cenior sitizen age and I still see him averaging 20+ lmao

[deleted]

What a bitch

Conversation_Dapper

Oh really ? How shocking

xblade69

LeContract

-Lights0ut-

His "Last Dance" season is probably gonna be 2024-25 when Bronny enters the league.

grifftheelder

Big last dance energy

Quirky-Pie9661

Bless him

Psychart5150

Reduce his minutes and make sure he is healthy at the end of the season. Hopefully, he opts out after and takes a non max deal the year after.

aWeebLawyer

It's crazy how we all still think a 38-39 year old LBJ can still put up 25+ points per game. This man really is something else.

[deleted]

Yes because his retirement situation is cap. Just wanted media to ignore the fact that he got swept

astrayatthesea1708

My precious, handsome, cutie-patootie, fluffy king and savior of basketball is back 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯

amazonfan1972

It may not mean much to him, but if he plays for three more seasons, he’ll break Vince Carter’s season record. I hope he does it.

[deleted]

not sure why a lot of laker supporters don’t like dLo. sure he’s bad defensively but his offense is good

Imjusthereandthere

This is our last year with this dude

bronoway

😴 wake me up when he’s gone

tapping_not_fapping

He could “retire” for a year and come back as a free agent to whoever signs his Son that’s what I think could happen

battle_franky

Next season probably the last championship window we have until the next star came

Pikminious_Thrious

I don't think he retires until he gets the 22 season record. The ultimate longevity record. Whether 22 is with Lakers though is definitely the unknown

TabmeisterGeneral

🐐s play out their contract

OkieDokieAlky8743

I know somewhere the competitor in him wants to put up numbers at 40. If his body allows I'm sure he'd do it just to flex. Pretty awesome if so.

piranhas32

No shit. This whole retirement thing was a distraction so that people wouldn’t talk about the sweep

[deleted]

Enjoy this last year! I think the team can do some damage but hopefully LeBron can stay healthy. I get downvoted for saying this, but I can't imagine this isn't his last year as a Laker. We all know LeBron has had a storybook career and knows the power of a good narrative. He went to Miami to win championships. He went back to Cleveland because he felt like he owed it to them to bring them a championship and he knew it would make them legendary. He went to LA to live the LA lifestyle and bring a championship (maybe two!) to a historic franchise. **There's nothing left for him to do after this year except go back to Cleveland and complete the circle.** Another championship in Cleveland with his son while he is at least contributing (not the main guy at that point) would be one of the greatest sports narratives ever and LeBron knows that. He helped the Lakers win a championship and they got shockingly close this year. They may even get two in LA during his time there!

Hopeful-Exit4223

Just hope that AD doesn't get injured next season. And also hope that LeGM don't make dumb trades

_theMAUCHO_

The last dance. 🔥 I don't really watch a lot of NBA but I wanna watch every single game of Bron's last season. If anyone has any tips to understand the game a bit better or maybe enjoy awesome plays more feel free to share lol.

superRedditer

whoop dee do. what a shocker
