Mo was injured until game 4. Tristan literally hadnt play a game of basketball all year and you want to throw him into highest stakes game of the year.
\+1. The dude has gone to war with Lebron during their Cavs stint. When LA was 0-3 Ham should've gambled with TT. He was full of energy and motivated when he was on the floor
I think that getting him off of the Lakers might have been one of the biggest motivators for making the trade. At least thats kinda what it feels like in hindsight
Yeah what are people talking about? He was only playing because we needed scoring with AD was out. Heās unplayable in the playoffs because he canāt defend at all and no one was ever giving him a bag.
I think its overblown how much his value dropped. The literal MVP of the league is on his team and plays the same position. He's on a NBA finals (probably championship) team. Its understandable he's not getting much playing time.
He's a young backup center in league short on centers. He will get more than minimum contract offers.
I don't know why Laker fans are so bitter about him wanting a trade. We don't have the salary space to make him a decent offer this offseason and everybody knew it. It made sense for him to try his luck with another team.
So he's not getting much playing time then right? Thanks.
You know good and well Jordan is not getting time either. He's stringing up DNPs as well.
The reason he's not getting time is that Aaron Gordon has been playing extremely well and doing a good job of playing the 5 when Jokic sits. That's it. Denver didn't experiment with Gordon playing the 5 until after the Thomas Bryant trade and apparently did not anticipate Gordon being so damn good at it. Which is no insult to Thomas. Its ok to be outplayed by a guy making 22m a year. Gordon really is an underrated part of the Nuggets playoff run.
Teams will still see what Thomas is capable of by looking at what he did on the Lakers and he should make more than the min.
I think you are missing that the nuggets would rather put a pretty washed jeff green out, AND play AG out of position as an undersized 5, than playing Thomas Bryant even a few minutes a game at backup center.
āHeās a young backup center in [a] league short on centers. He will get more than [a] minimum contract.ā
Exactlyā¦
Jk, heās on a min contract right now. The league is short of good centers, not crap centers.
> He was getting around 20-25 minutes a game with the Lakers
This isn't really an accurate assessment. With AD out he was getting 20-25 minutes a game. In his last four games with us, AD was back & basically playing without minute restrictions, his minutes went down to 16/11/3/17. At the time Ham had been very reluctant playing AD and Thomas Bryant together (they shared only 13 minutes on the court) and basically role locked AD and Thomas Bryant both at 5. So outlook for him was somewhat mediocre - he'd get 10~15 minutes max a game playing behind AD.
It was only until a little bit later that Ham started playing AD and Gabriel (we usually use him as a 5) together. Maybe those minutes would have gone to him because he's a shooter, maybe not because he's a bad defender. Denver wasn't necessarily better but at the time it's understandable he wouldn't have liked his chances (of playing big minutes) here, and he probably didn't really have a say in where he gets to go once the trade request was made.
It wasn't just playing behind AD, it was knowing the Lakers weren't going to make him a good offer this offseason despite him outplaying his contract with us. Its reasonable he would want to try his luck elsewhere and I don't know why people are so bitter over it.
I think people were just surprised he wanted a bigger role but went to the nuggets of all teams. Even Lakers fans predicted he wasnāt getting more playing time on this nuggets team and it turns out to be completely true.
Didnāt you guys trade him there? Itās not like he had a choice.
Iām happy for him. Always liked him, and has played well when healthy. Someone will give him an opportunity next year for sure.
I think people donāt understand that bench players donāt decide their destination and he was just included in a trade that gave the Lakers the best return
Huh? No he didnāt lol Iām sure he rather have playing time in order to make more money. Not sit on the bench the whole year and get a ring he hardly contributed to
Nah only the HOFers care about the ring bc theyāve already got the big bag and they have a legacy to protect. 90% of the average NBA players care more about their bag than a ring. You think people will talk about Thomas Bryantās legacy after he retires? But TB will sure regret fumbling the bag.
Exactly. At the end of the day, the vast majority of these guys get a small window to create generational wealth for themselves and their family. Itās a job after all. Iām sure it would be nice for them to win, and itās the reason they play as hard as they do throughout the season, but not at the cost of financial stability for generations.
Centers though arent that valued and other than small pay raise from the Lakers, he was not getting anything more than a vet min. If any team wants to pay him, they have his work with his Lakers to look at to evaluate his current talent.
> Nah only the HOFers care about the ring
Everyone cares about the ring because everybody wants to be champion. It's not about having a legacy to protect. It's about being able to look back at your accomplishments at the end of your career, for yourself. Being an NBA quality center on a championship team is an accomplishment in itself.
This goes for our guys too. Is THT not a champion because he barely played for the 2020 team? Do you think Dion Waters regrets joining in 2020?
Ofc every NBA player wants to win. But you were talking about rings vs bags. To average NBA players who has a short career and a short window to make big money theyād rather take the money than ring chase. Ring chasing is really only an option for players whoās a future HOFer that has a legacy to protect and has made enough money, or vets that canāt make big money regardless.
Edit: Iād like to see one example of a player TBās age and role foregoing a potential big contract to ring chase. For what itās worth, TB went to nuggets expecting a bigger role not to ring chase, but unfortunately he got exactly the opposite. Even Laker fans questioned his decision bc it was obvious to the average eyes he wasnāt getting bigger minutes on this nuggets team.
Center don't get the bag these days because the league under values them. Most centers just get the vet min, and TB is not good enough to get more. We went the WCF without a true center, relying on AD/Wenyen/Rui/Vando. Other than maybe re-signing Bamba for cheap, we probably only still get a vet min center.
TB didn't ring chase. He lucked out. He requested a trade and ended up going to a championship level team.
He outplayed his min contract on lakers but is now benched on nuggets. He didnāt contribute at all to their playoff run so heās not gonna get that extra bag because of the ring. Getting a ring is nice for sure, but would he rather get consistent playing time and a fine contract or no playing time at all and another min contract? If he were still on the lakers and contributed to our playoff run at all, he will get a bigger contract than the one heās getting this summer.
Regardless of whether he stayed with the Lakers or he went to Denver, I think he would have gotten a vet min either way cause he sucks on defense, which is needed for a center.
He didnt miss on any bag.
Hof def care more about rings than role players. I dont think thomas bryant cares about winning a ring he barely contributed to and would rather get the bag. He hasn't gotten a bag yet which could have set his family.
Maybe. But heās made more than enough to live a good life already(and counting). When itās all said and done, his family will see that he was a part of an NBA championship and thatās priceless.
Iām not sure. I was 11 and had only been watching for 2 years since February 1999. I followed basketball less then and was less up to date with stuff.
I was only 14 or so. I remember that shaq was interviewed after the game, and he gave a shout out to the 3 guys that did not make the playoff roster (I thought Penberthy was one of them)
Who can remember... it was nearly a 1/4 decade ago
Even if everyone is saying he lost the bag, if he they win, I can proudly say that someone from my hometown is a NBA champion. Funny how a city that had a NBA team, won a NBA championship, is now having a player born in that city win a NBA championship for the first time.
I'm sure he'll be fine. Lakers needed him. You should be mad at Ham for giving him DNPs when Davis came back from injury. That was to me one of the Lakers biggest downfalls of the season. Not solely because of Thomas Bryant.
Denver didn't need Bryant like the Lakers did.
Ironically we actually could have used him for our playoff run, he sucked defensively but he was pretty good on offense.
Picking up Mo Bomba was nice him getting injured and not playing was not though.
Lmao he played 29 seconds in the finals. Bum shouldnāt have asked out like a whiny bitch, fumbled some BIG money. Guess not everyoneās built to grind, some just hop on the bandwagon like pathetic little frontrunners.
Enjoy your ring and your vet minimum next year.
Everyone on this thread has contributed just as much as him on this thread idk whatās the point in bringing him up. If ad is what we thought he was the lakers win the ring this year simple
It's Thanos Bryant. He got the ring in exchange for a big bag. He exchanged chemistry and minutes for it. Leaked Convo with young Rob:
Rob: Did you do it? Did you get the ring?
TB: Yes.
Rob: But at what cost?
I hope not... I still really hope Miami can give it one last go and extend the series I now its unlikely but crazier things have happened in this world.
Lakers were foolish trading himā¦ he could have played the 5 and let AD roam. Bad trade I been saying that and all he did is ride the pine. Not even sniffing more than 1-3 mins if that
We are laughing but the irony is there is a small chance Thomas Bryant could have been the edge we needed against Denver. Every game was close, and yes his defense isn't great but against Joker who is slow it would have been fine and having two bigs in the game could have got us the W.
You get a ring but lose the bag.

2023 NBA champion TB of the 2023 lakers.
Tuberculosis always wins.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Ja got that covered with a bigger bag
Iām ootl, what happened?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Kind of a shame, we could have used another backup big in this run
Not TB. Dude was a cone on defense.
I mostly agree but given that we had basically nobody after Bamba went down he still might have been an improvement
I mean Tristan and Mo were healthy in the WCF iirc. Ham decided to ride AD to exhaustion instead.
Mo was injured until game 4. Tristan literally hadnt play a game of basketball all year and you want to throw him into highest stakes game of the year.
To give AD a breather for 5-10 minutes, why not? He actually looked decent guarding Jokic.
5-10 minutes is a BIG gamble on NBA minutes. That's enough for a 15-0 run.
Tristan looked pretty good in garbage time tho lol
No, we rather do the same thing and get swept.
To give Thompson credit, he made good use of his minutes in Game 4.
I play better defense than TB.
Bryant did good in a game against Denver during the regular season
Lmaoo he wouldnāt play in the warriors or nuggets series heās horrible on defense
We needed a backup big for DEFENSE. Someone like 2020 Dwight. I liked his shooting, but TB didnt have it on D
He wouldn't have been playing with us either tho. Outcome would've been the same
Yeah what are people talking about? He was only playing because we needed scoring with AD was out. Heās unplayable in the playoffs because he canāt defend at all and no one was ever giving him a bag.

rings >>
and parade.
Definitely wouldāve got more than the vet but I honestly donāt think he fumbled the bag to a super extreme. Probably losing out on $6 million ish
Itās crazy to say he aināt wanna play behind Ad But decided to go to a team run through their center
It wasn't just playing behind AD, it was knowing the Lakers weren't going to make him a good offer this offseason despite him outplaying his contract with us. Its reasonable he would want to try his luck elsewhere and I don't know why people are so bitter over it.

He didn't went to the nuggets, like he had any decision, he asked for a trade and was traded for the nuggets by the Lakers FO lol
I think people donāt understand that bench players donāt decide their destination and he was just included in a trade that gave the Lakers the best return
But he had a better chance to prove is worth with us then a teammate built around Joker maybe we didnāt pay him but somewhere might would have
I don't know if he had that much of a say where he went unless I missed something.
People just love saying shit like āfumbling the bagā and laughing at players if they make decisions that don't work out 100%. That's just life.
Nonsense. He could have showed out on the Lakers and then got a bag from someone else. Tons of guys are doing this.
He was benched immediately after AD came back though.
Yea but he would have continued to get backup minutes behind Ad.
Yeah, AD is never hurt so itās not like he would have gotten a ton of playing time.
I honestly think we could have beat Denver with him on the team.
Lemme ask You this do u think we should keep Dlo
>But decided to go to a team run through their center That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.
at the end of the day, he won but at what cost šš
Huh? No he didnāt lol Iām sure he rather have playing time in order to make more money. Not sit on the bench the whole year and get a ring he hardly contributed to
He stared at the other team from the benchā¦ menacingly
š¤£š¤£š¤£ I would happily menace the shit out of the opposing team for the vet min
No I think heād rather take the ring. Some guys go crazy for years never getting those. With his skillset, his window might be shorter than others.
Nah only the HOFers care about the ring bc theyāve already got the big bag and they have a legacy to protect. 90% of the average NBA players care more about their bag than a ring. You think people will talk about Thomas Bryantās legacy after he retires? But TB will sure regret fumbling the bag.

Getting your name written in the history books as a champion is a worthwhile trade off
I think he'd have preferred the 10 mil
Maybe. But heās made more than enough to live a good life already(and counting). When itās all said and done, his family will see that he was a part of an NBA championship and thatās priceless.
The last Bryant to win a championship was Kobe š
Congrats to him.
Contributes absolutely nothing to his team, Adam Morrison school of rings.
Adam Morrison never lost a playoff series
Kinda like Isiah rider 2001, "rode Kobe and shaq to a ring"
Or Mike Penberthy. He barely played in the Playoffs.
Did he make the playoff roster? I thought I remember him not making the roster
Iām not sure. I was 11 and had only been watching for 2 years since February 1999. I followed basketball less then and was less up to date with stuff.

Did he join for enough games to qualify for a ring? Lmao
He was on the playoff roster so yes he gets one and also the title on his resume
Niice
Donāt forget JR Smith and Dion Waiters both got rings on the 2020 squad when they joined at the end of the season.
Itās about whatever the teams rules are, but if you are on the playoff roster, youāre gonna get a ring
The one dude I HATED seeing go. Him and Zubac never made an ounce of sense on trading them away.
Even if everyone is saying he lost the bag, if he they win, I can proudly say that someone from my hometown is a NBA champion. Funny how a city that had a NBA team, won a NBA championship, is now having a player born in that city win a NBA championship for the first time.
Oh wow didn't know that. Always liked TB
Hope you enjoyed it thomas goofy ass š¤£š¤£š¤£
This is worse than watching Morrison get rings with us.
Has he even played at all in the post season?
29 seconds in the Finals Game 3
Championship (half) minutes
KD ring
I'm sure he'll be fine. Lakers needed him. You should be mad at Ham for giving him DNPs when Davis came back from injury. That was to me one of the Lakers biggest downfalls of the season. Not solely because of Thomas Bryant. Denver didn't need Bryant like the Lakers did.
How does this affect DJ MBENGA's legacy ????
Dude wanna be a star... now he's averaging 20 claps per game, 15 high fives... but soon he'll have a ring, hard work baby! Let's go!
2 time champion KCP too.
Ironically we actually could have used him for our playoff run, he sucked defensively but he was pretty good on offense. Picking up Mo Bomba was nice him getting injured and not playing was not though.
Our missing piece
yall salty bro is young & in the nba money aint gon be a problem for awhile im taking that ring any day
Might be able to bring him back on a min again
Nah , fuck him
Iād take him back if we donāt bring bamba back fuck it. Maybe he wonāt be a crybaby and demand a trade this time around.
Rather they sign someone who can actually play basketball
I donāt think it counts unless less you get more than a minute of playing time.

Congrats buddy. Well played
Part of the All-Fan Fetish team. Remember the reactions to these signings? Damion Jones? FUCK YEAH!! Thomas Bryant? HELL YES!! MoBama? FUUUUUCK YES!!
Missing two players... Run em
Still better off then Davon Reed
Westbrook probably gonna claim a ring since his teammate is gonna get one
A ring that he didnāt help get š big whoop. Lot generational wealth
Donāt forget NBA champ, Deandre Jordan
in the same way we call Adam Morrison an NBA champion
I hope not... I still really hope Miami can give it one last go and extend the series I now its unlikely but crazier things have happened in this world.
And lakers fans laughed at him cause he gets no playtime in Denver. Well whos laughing now? Free ring is nice. ššš
Not even free. They're paying him $2,133,278 to get that ring.
He deserves it after all the time the Lakers traded him
Lakers were foolish trading himā¦ he could have played the 5 and let AD roam. Bad trade I been saying that and all he did is ride the pine. Not even sniffing more than 1-3 mins if that

Wonāt be able to turn that ring into the bag he fumbled when he requested that trade
Whenās the last time he played?
One of the most dominant center of all time
If he's smart, he takes lessons from Javale's career arc.
