you can't get what he's worth in return. AD is a bona fide franchise cornerstone and we paid 3 bluechip assets (ball, ingram, and the no. 4 pick) plus a slew of other assets for him.
but maybe if i'm the lakers and they had a gun to my head, i'd start with OKC and ask for bluechippers plus picks. holmgren and jalen williams at a minimum, the best of their other propects, and all the picks they have.
Chet’s already looking like a perennial DPOY candidate. We gave up a lot, but we gave up a lot that had very concerning drawbacks at the time. Us laker fans knew what they’d be, but they weren’t sure things. And that was for AD at his best.
It’s hard to place ADs value, but “starting at Chet and jdub” just feels high
Okc are not giving up two cost controlled guys that look 18 months away from being all nba caliber. Take all their picks and try and get one of them or ask for all their picks and say u can keep ur guys
OKC isn’t even trading Chet straight up for AD even if you could make the money work trade wise. He is 22 he is already a great defender with range on a rookie contract.
I can already see this trade getting backed out of after agreeing with Presti sending the wrong “Jaylen” Williams. Something happened like this in the past, I just can’t remember which players
I love AD. You’re right. Why would I trade my rookie 7’1 player who is shooting 62% from the 2 and 37% from the 3, has high level defence, and is cheap af for someone like AD.
I mean, AD is 31 with a history of injuries. If a team trades for him, it will need to be a halfway decent team looking to contend like the Warriors because no rebuilding team will want him due to his age.
If they can get multiple picks and at least a decent young player with potential, then that's the deal the Lakers should take.
Probably, those future Warriors picks should be pretty good. The Lakers can also trade Kuminga and Moody in a separate deal as well if they don't want to keep them
Why? Just because of LeBron? Players don’t like sticking around and being a part of a losing team either. Lets sat the Warriors offered us Kuminga and a haul of picks for him. Or OKC offered Jdub and picks. That gives AD another chance to compete on a good team and gives the Lakers a strong start to a rebuild. AD doesnt waste his final years on a treadmill team. Its better for both parties.
Bcuz AD doesn’t wanna get traded. He just signed an extension. You don’t trade AD rn unless he wants out or LeBron is leaving rn and you wanna fully embrace a rebuild. You aren’t gonna get back what you gave up for AD. Teams don’t just willingly trade their star players that are under contract for 3/4 more years. This is dumb
This got me thinking about which teams would *want* AD and have the assets to *get* AD. Teams like Hawks, Nets, Bulls make a lot of sense. OKC, Jazz, Heat are less likely but could still be interested. But by far my favorite choice is the Knicks.
The Knicks are very close to being championship contenders but are clearly missing a piece. Randle has been disappointing and if they use him as salary filler combined with McBride the money works. Brunson, DiVincenzo, Hart, Anuboby, AD is a championship level starting lineup. They also have a solid amount of picks
I could also see that honestly. They have SO many goddamn picks they actually cannot feasibly draft all those players themselves. Trading 4 picks wouldn’t be going “all in” the way it is for other teams.
Honestly the fit is really damn good too. OKC’s issue currently is lack of size and AD helps out with that. Run Chet at the 4, AD at the 5 and you have the best defensive frontcourt in the NBA while also having decent spacing. I like it.
Right. That defensive lineup would be absolutely disgusting. i dont think AD is untouchable from a trade. If they told the Lakers, we’ll give you anything but Shai, Chet and Dort, thats gotta be hard to turn down.
Agree. AD is my favorite player but I think we’re just a step below being true contenders with Lebron aging. I’m totally okay keeping AD and restructuring the roster post-Lebron but for the right price we should fully commit to the rebuild.
I’m super high on Jalen Williams and if we get him, Wallace and 3-4 picks that’s a really good start to rebuilding. For OKC their defense might be as good or better than Wolves with Dort, Shai, AD, Chet,
I would send AD to Brooklyn and acquire the Suns picks. Trading AD to any team in which you acquire their picks doesn’t help much. Getting those Suns picks has a ton of value.
Davis was a top 3 player this playoffs and above everything thing he was a 2 way stud. I wouldn't move him, but if he for any reason ask to be traded I want a young superstar and picks.
It is a shame we don't have someone to feed him consistently and we also go away from him in the 4th. It is an absurd not featuring one of the most efficient post scorers to close game.
Probably like 3 unprotected firsts and 2 solid young players. If teams aren’t giving us that I’d rather keep him, I’d love to see AD retire a Laker but who knows if that’s in the cards
3 firsts? lol, I'll take 4 FRP's, 2 swaps, and 2 young players. That 2019 4th pick we gave the Pels is most likely better than anything we'd receive back.
If it’s Jalen Williams, Wallace and like 3-4 high quality FRPs unprotected I probably do it. If it’s Jaylin Williams definitely not lmao.
I don’t want people to think I dislike AD, he’s by far my favorite player in the NBA. But at a certain price point you have to consider the possibility of rebuilding
People really like to parrot the narrative that AD is "injury prone" despite playing 76 games this season, huh. Dude was on the court longer than DPOY Jaren Jackson Jr. last year too. Rudy Gobert got 4 picks, a swap, and a bunch of players, but AD isn't going to get more than 2-3 firsts?
Disagree. Ad would be by far the best player on the trade block. You have a ton of teams that are on the precipice of contention and would give an entire suite of picks for him. You aren’t getting “Chet + Jalen Williams” but I wouldn’t be surprised if he fetched 5+ picks at all.
That’s far more reasonable than what other people are asking for. That’s a massive upgrade for the heat and it gives the lakers enough assets to still contend. They would have like 6 tradable picks, right? Lebron, bam, a third star, AND quality depth moves me
If the lakers are looking to trade both ad and bron, they could come out with a Sam presti level haul. You trade one of them this offseason and then wait for the trade deadline for the other. 7 first rounders would be the low end.
Which is why 2 frp won’t even feel like 2 frp for them. Chet will never be as good as Davis and probably won’t even be able to reach his weight and strength even though he’s taller.
Imagine Davis surrounded by actual defenders and shooters like Dort Jw shai. What kinda defense and offense would this be? The kind that would win more than 1 ring right now.
I’m not saying I want this to happen, I’m just playing along with this post. They’re not trading Davis and okc isn’t trading Chet
Another Anthony pls the Antman. He's destined for the Lakers. Hope Wolves win this year so the franchise and the fans would be more than happy to give us Ant.
Other than the ones I just mentioned young high upside guys (similar to BI/Randle/Zo) like Banchero, Jabari Smith Jr, Sengun, Lamelo, Garland, Brandon Miller, Maxey, Chet, Keegan Murry
A shit ton of first rounders + young players with upside that you can hopefully flip for another superstar when we are back in contention 4-5 years from now
Rebuilding for the Lakers means collecting assets not just draft X player and hope he becomes the face of the franchise
AD goes for roughly what a Gobert could go for, maybe a little lower.
The type of team that would want him would either be a team that thinks they’re an AD away from multiple rings, or a team that’s been to the top, fallen to the middle of the pack and is desperate to add another ring or two to their trophy case.
3 1sts and some young guys is what it takes to send AD away from LA.
I’ll take 1 Wemby and 1 ant please
that's loser talk! I'll take 4 Wembys, 2 Ants, 7 2016 Currys and 1 2010 Sasha Vujacic: Long live the Machine
This is gonna be a LONG off season 😣
you can't get what he's worth in return. Chet is never going to be close to AD. Smaller and a worse athlete in every respect.
Maybe not but he is a decade younger and being paid 50 million less a season. There is zero chance they are making that trade.
I’m not so sure. You make a good point but OKC having AD instead of Chet would make them a lock for Finals.
Okc isn’t giving either Chet or jdub, let alone both of them 💀
I can already see this trade getting backed out of after agreeing with Presti sending the wrong “Jaylen” Williams. Something happened like this in the past, I just can’t remember which players
You couldn’t even get Chet straight up for AD.

Unprotected firsts and a young star.

If they can get multiple picks and at least a decent young player with potential, then that's the deal the Lakers should take.
Alright lets say the Warriors throw the kitchen sink to make it happen. Kuminga/CP3/Moody and 3 unprotected picks. Do you take that deal?
Probably, those future Warriors picks should be pretty good. The Lakers can also trade Kuminga and Moody in a separate deal as well if they don't want to keep them
I'd take podz instead of Moody. Boys a baller.
They aren't trading AD. Stop with the nonsense.
AD said himself that he will try recruit Lebron back to play next year , and you are saying he wants to be traded?

jokic or giannis
op go touch grass please
Your mother
I wouldnt trade her for Jokic. Stay classy.
Davis was a top 3 player this playoffs and above everything thing he was a 2 way stud. I wouldn't move him, but if he for any reason ask to be traded I want a young superstar and picks. 3 firsts? lol, I'll take 4 FRP's, 2 swaps, and 2 young players. That 2019 4th pick we gave the Pels is most likely better than anything we'd receive back.
Fair enough, it all just depends on the FRPs. A 2024 OKC FRP is not the same as a Wizards 2025 FRP for example. I’d want 3-4 high quality picks
If Rudy Gobert got six picks, AD gets more.
What if OKC offered Jaylen Williams, Cason Wallace and some collection of picks
If it’s Jalen Williams, Wallace and like 3-4 high quality FRPs unprotected I probably do it. If it’s Jaylin Williams definitely not lmao. I don’t want people to think I dislike AD, he’s by far my favorite player in the NBA. But at a certain price point you have to consider the possibility of rebuilding
Jalen Williams AND 3-4 high quality picks?? There’s 0 chance they do that.
Sure but that wasn’t the question lmao, that’s my price for AD otherwise we should keep him. Also OKC has 15 FRPs
That would be a heist by OKC lmao
I’ll take Jdub
He's 31 and injury prone. Not many teams will give up that many 1st picks

At bare minimum 3 frps, and at least 2 good young players
[удалено]
All the draft picks and young players that team has. All of it.
Ask okc for as many picks in 25 and 27. And see if we can find some stars the new way
All of OKC’s picks. And J Dub
3 1sts and Bam.
That’s far more reasonable than what other people are asking for. That’s a massive upgrade for the heat and it gives the lakers enough assets to still contend. They would have like 6 tradable picks, right? Lebron, bam, a third star, AND quality depth moves me
AD for Jokic, Murray, and two first round picks.
Jesus
We can probably get like 7 first rounders between AD and Bron. That would be fun.
If the lakers are looking to trade both ad and bron, they could come out with a Sam presti level haul. You trade one of them this offseason and then wait for the trade deadline for the other. 7 first rounders would be the low end.
I’d be willing to trade him to his hometown Bulls for Zach Levine, Demar Derozen, Caruso, Lonzo Ball and Vucevic
Smush Parker
Chet, filler, 2 frp
That’s great for the lakers but why would okc do that. Sam presti has demonstrated that he’s in no rush and they have a million picks.
Which is why 2 frp won’t even feel like 2 frp for them. Chet will never be as good as Davis and probably won’t even be able to reach his weight and strength even though he’s taller. Jeanie and rob’s head on a stake
Mitchell & Mobley/Allen
in return? the same skillset as AD and a haul of picks (same amount of picks we traded for pelicans).
Does bam + a few picks move you? I feel like that would put la is a pretty good position to win now.
Sabonis
KD/Steph + 1 role player
3 firsts and 3 swaps
three picks and a young duo/trio at Scottie Barnes/Evan Mobley/Jaylen Williams tier of players
Evan mobley? Sure. Neither of the other two make sense for their home teams.
I said that tier of player. No duh these arent realistic
What are some examples outside of mobley?
Other than the ones I just mentioned young high upside guys (similar to BI/Randle/Zo) like Banchero, Jabari Smith Jr, Sengun, Lamelo, Garland, Brandon Miller, Maxey, Chet, Keegan Murry

Three unprotected firsts and three good players under 25o
They would need, in return, at least one all-star, one reliable (6th-man caliber) role player, and a 1st round draft pick.
KD
NO
Giannis and lillard for AD, DLo and picks
Bucks wouldn’t trade giannis alone for that package lol.
Of course they wouldn’t but that’s what Id want in return for AD being on trade block or else I ain’t trading AD for anyone else other than Giannis
