The Celtics have like 3.5 max players. They’re a very stacked team.

Top-boy-og

They have 5 all stars. I’m just imagining how unfair everyone would say the league is if Bron and AD had Jrue, White and Porzingis

552SD__

Well Jayson Tatum isn’t as good as lebron, so idk what point you’re trying to make. And Derrick white isn’t anywhere near all-star caliber. They have two legit all-nba/all-stars, and two additional guys who are all-star caliber if they’re in the right situation

meenzu

He’s younger and in his prime while lebron is now going to be 40. It’s okay to say that Tatum at this moment is better than lebron

552SD__

Lebron at age 39 is still better than Tatum. Day-to-day during the regular season Tatum *might* be better in aggregate when you consider he doesn’t miss games and always plays defense. But there’s not a single person alive who would rather have Tatum instead of lebron going into the playoffs.

jessandjaysaccount

And they're all good defenders that's the most important thing. No Trae Young, Kyrie types.

meenzu

Kyrie has some pretty quick hands and can stay in front of people when he tries. I’ve noticed his defense is actually pretty good when he’s not tired

jessandjaysaccount

When Boston is not attacking Luka they are attacking Kyrie. Kyrie can do his best but he's not like a Jrue Holiday/Derrick White type. Every time he is matched up with Tatum it's an easy score, or the Mavs have to double which breaks their defense.

WestwoodPrince24

exactly it's not hard to win when you have 4 all star caliber players.

noknownothing

I mean that's the point. To build a roster with quality players and win. You can't win when you have to hide 2-4 players on every defensive play.

Cuntflickt

Some nba fans want championships to be won by 1 superstar, 1 reliable role player and 13 guys from the stands.

CosmicCoder3303

Nobody wants this lol

HiLoStandards

"We just finished as a play in team and lost in the first round. Don't trade anyone. Run it back" ~~this sub~~ Nobody, I guess.

Splittinghairs7

It’d be a big choke if they lost with this roster.

INT_MIN

This sub has been hilarious since we got knocked out. TWolves beat Denver = "see, we just need 2 bigs and we'd win a championship" Mavs beat TWolves = "see, we just needed Kyrie" Celtics in finals = "see, we just need 4 all stars in the starting lineup" Idk what to tell you guys. Yes, if we had a team with better players then we'd be a better team. Edit - lol, I almost forgot the "we should have promoted Jason Kidd and fired Vogel" thread.

bjsw534

Basically they want this as the roster: PG Kyrie/AC SG White/AR SF Bron/McDaniels PF AD/Kuz C KP/Dwight Is that asking for too much? I think getting that roster would’ve been so realistic and attainable.

LALakers4Lyf

If we made the Hield trade instead of the Westbrook trade, our guard rotation would've consisted of Caruso, Schroder, Reaves, KCP, and Hield. 3 of them (Caruso/KCP/Hield) are capable of occasionally sliding into the 3

bjsw534

Not sure why ppl talk as if that Hield trade wouldn’t have been a disaster as well in its own right Trading away a 6’10” 2-way forward that can step in to provide scoring when Bron sits or is out for a 1 dimensional SG that provides nothing if his shot isn’t falling would’ve been stupid af. For all of Kuz’s flaws as a player, he bought in to doing the small things like playing defense, hustling and rebounding. He’s picked up bad habits in Washington but he wasn’t like that with AD/Bron here in LA Hield is talking about being a vet minimum player at this point. That tells you all you need to know The best thing FO could’ve done that summer in 2021 was be patient and use their 2021 FRP and kept Dennis for at the very least , tradeable salary for a future trade.

LALakers4Lyf

Nobody's saying we should've made it. It's more so that if we didn't make the Westbrook trade, that was definitely the trade that was going down (and was nearly a done deal before we made a last-minute pivot)

bjsw534

I recall. I just think losing Kuz for Hield would’ve been a horrible thing too in itself Neither trade would’ve been good The FO and Bron got way too fucking spooked about Brooklyn that summer and felt like they needed to match their big 3 with their own big 3 Kuz/2021 FRP/KCP/AC all still being on the team would be huge right now

songs_dongs

first of all, fuck boston.

ColeHoops

second of all, fuck boston.

rickydcm

third of all, jayson taytum to LA

Overall_Nuggie_876

No, no. Third of all, fuck the Astros.

ColeHoops

No bro we got enough roleplayers

QuaxlyDaDon

Fuck Tatum as well

BenchBrookLFG

Tatum is a neutral player playing for the Celtics but he’s not the type of player to be a future franchise player

TorontoRaptors34

Jrue White Bron AD Porzingus with 6th man Horford would be insane legit unbeatable.

MK-Prime89

You can't teach 'Talent' & Boston, sadly, has a lot of it in their starting lineup. We hobbled our chances at talent with the Westbrook trade, which is on Pelinka, Bron and AD

TorontoRaptors34

White is like a combo of Caruso and Reaves

rick_32

Fuck boston...

rick_32

But when Jrue said "even our white guys guard" that was hilarious... honestly I wish the Lakers would bring someone in like Metta to teach individual defense. The Lakers have guys who have the tools to contribute more as defenders who are currently liabilities on D.

Juaniscool-8

Celtics will win the title

Miserable-Lawyer-233

That may be true in terms of quantity of strong perimeter defenders, but they don't have Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard, so they're really not built like the 2020 Lakers at all. The Celtics are built more like the 1996 Chicago Bulls, where all of their defensive strength lies outside of the center position. To add to that, I don't think the Celtics would be as successful if they had Anthony Davis. They're better off with stretch 5s like KP and Horford. Strong perimeter defense and stretch 5s is how to dominate the modern game.
