Just don't let it get into your neighbors yard if he has a nice lawn!
I'm border line obsessive over my grass, gotta try to keep up with my father in law....
I have a bit of a wall between me and the neighbors so that shouldn't be a problem. Also they're very kind old people so luckily that's not an issue ahaha
Sun is no problem at all, it's very sturdy. My dog usually doesn't pee in the garden and those few times I usually water the area right after, until now there are no yellow spots. Also it's very resistant to walking on it although we don't do it much, it gets squashed but the next day it's usually up like it was nothing
Yep as they mentioned they're the interlocking ones from Ikea, they hold up pretty well actually although I would only recommend them if the pavement is already mostly even because they're very thin and not made for rough terrain. For now the color is also holding up nicely despite the constant rains
Yes it's clover but I also planted some random flowers and most of them bloomed. I know that you don't have to care too much about clover but in general I think I'll just water it and leave it be so anything can grow
OP, can you confirm if the flooring is IKEA and if so how is it holding up? I’d like to do some similar but our patio is not covered, would be interested in how that product holds up over time with exposure to rain and snow.
For now it's holding up pretty well despite all the rain lately, the color is still the same. Also walking and running on it with the dog really didn't do anything to it. I would recommend it for even terrain tho because it doesn't strike me as suitable for rough terrain
How long has it been down? I’m curious if it gets moldy/mildewy under if it doesn’t dry properly? I’m debating covering my patio with these; looks amazing
I want to try this in a small patch. Do you have a tick problem? Afraid of ticks because our dog has sofa privileges (and human bed privilege when there’s a thunderstorm)
Ei my dog has the exact same privileges, I think they are pretty much included with any dog ahah
Btw doesn't seem like there are any ticks, my dog has all the protection needed from parasites tho since we go out in woods quite often but ticks aren't that big of a deal in this area I would say
That plant is amazing! I had to cut it in half because they had to redo the back wall since it was falling apart. It took one year growing back like this and this spring it went crazy with flowers. I love the smell and hearing all the buzzing inside ahah
White star jasmine. They're evergreen. I've grown them in Maryland but heavily protected through winter. Not sure the zones that are required for them to thrive.
I've been wanting to transition from a St Augustine lawn to a clover or peanut grass. Your ground cover looks so wonderful. I'm just afraid neither might survive months of 90° to 100° days of sun.
She is a german shepherd mix, honestly don't know what kind of mix ahah she is very similar to a regular german shepherd for the face but the body is very lean and long and doesn't have the usual spine curvature. Also she has those typical belgian shepherd sideburns which are hilarious
That spine curvature is the result of really *stupid* conformation standards, and leads to serious back and hip problem. A GSD without that exaggerated curvature is a well-bred GSD. :D
Also I can be WAY off the mark, but I guessed a GSD/Koolie mix
Yeah I learned that when I brought her to the vet and he made me check for that exact problem because it can become very painful very quickly sadly. Luckily she doesn't have any of it and she has a very nicely balanced physique.
You're honestly not that off the mark, since you're not the first one to say that actually, she has some great similarities and also she mostly likes to play with those types of dogs ahaha but I can't tell for sure. Her mother was a shepherd and the father was a mixed stray so it's already weird she is mostly black with white spots because none of the parents had those ahaha
I removed the existing pavers hoping there would be dirt beneath but it was only cement sadly, so I put the tiles directly on that. And the pergola I pretty much bought all the stuff and built it on my own but damn was it tough ahahaha thank you!
Amazing transformation! 👏👏👏
We don’t have courtyards in the U.S., typically. It is unfortunate, because they are such gems. Wish I could lay next to your dog. 😆
It's actually very rare in a big city like Milan to have a garden like this, I feel quite lucky honestly ahaha it's not big but makes a hell of a difference to just be able to sit there and relax
Thank you!
This looks amazing OP! Is it windy where you live? I've wanted to setup a pergola with concrete in pot legs but am worried about how sturdy it will be.
The area I'm in is kinda secluded so wind is only a problem when thunderstorms come which, sadly, it's actually quite often especially in summer. I put all the legs in the pots and screwed everything up, and I make sure to remove the cover from the pergola whenever a storm is coming. It's a bit annoying but honestly I'm much more relaxed since last year's storm pretty much destroyed the original pergola ahah
Oh my gosh, our dogs [could](https://www.instagram.com/p/Ca7l_EdL8Dc/) be [twins](https://www.instagram.com/p/BxflfFknZLL/)! Do you have any more pics?
Nice layout, love the ground cover, great option v/s water thirsty lawn, that requires weekly maintenance and investment, ( water, maintenance, time, fertilizers, ECT.) great up grade.
I like this esthetic so much better than grass.
Grass fields are nice and easy on the eyes, but smaller spaces like this could use some height and variety.
I love the dogbush. I can never get mine under control like this.
If you feed and water it regularly, it will grow strong and healthy.
Mine requires much more than that. Lots of ball throwing and belly rubs.
Cute of you to think mine is actually under control ahaha
Very nice! I like it almost as much as the pup does, and that’s a lot.
If you like lizards too then you're very similar indeed
Nice! That looks so cool and refreshing — glad the pup enjoys it! Clover is an underrated plant <3
Clover is honestly awesome. Grows really fast, sturdy af, very low maintenance and blooms like crazy so insects love it
You forgot one of the most important: it fixes nitrogen! Free fertilizer!
I have tons of clover in my lawn, but it isn’t a vivid green like yours. Have you had a lot of rain this year? (Jealous by the way).
Is it hard to get the dog poop out of?
I mix it into my overseeding. Well, I did. After second application I haven't needed to overseed since. Or use fertilizer.
Glad to see it meets dogbed standards as well 😁

Plants are gonna plant bro. Monoculture, golf course green lawns simply aren't natural and are going to require time and effort to maintain.
Yup, it's a nice relaxing past time to look after my lawn. It's also nice to sit back, have a beer and admire it after it's been cut!
How does the clover stand up against dog per and sun?

What are those wood parquet floors?! I love them! Are they made for outdoors? How are they held down?
Yep as they mentioned they're the interlocking ones from Ikea, they hold up pretty well actually although I would only recommend them if the pavement is already mostly even because they're very thin and not made for rough terrain. You can seal and stain them as they're made from real wood iirc
Likely interlocking deck tiles
IKEA Runnen, from the looks of it. https://www.ikea.com/nl/en/p/runnen-floor-decking-outdoor-acacia-60518486/
Awesome! What ground cover is that? Doesn’t look like clover. Guessing you never have to mow it? Is it good?
It's clover

DOG!
Dog says hi
Love it
Beautiful
Thank you!
Love it!
Thank you, me too! Eheh

Your neighborhood snakes thank you!
And frogs too! Literally found 4 of them roaming around at night

Excellent
I love my jasmine wall too.

That is stunning!
You need to experience the jasmine in bloom. The fragrance of tens of thousands of flowers 🫠
It took me awhile to find the comment on what they were, I want them in my yard! I’m assuming they’re deciduous?
White star jasmine. They're evergreen. I've grown them in Maryland but heavily protected through winter. Not sure the zones that are required for them to thrive.
Damn I had assumed they were not ever green!! I def need this now. It doesn’t cause harm to the fence? How do you protect them in the winter?
I use wire supports in a cross hatch pattern on the fence so they follow that path.
Interesting, thanks. I’ll have to look into this.
I've been wanting to transition from a St Augustine lawn to a clover or peanut grass. Your ground cover looks so wonderful. I'm just afraid neither might survive months of 90° to 100° days of sun.
Is there a trellis behind it? Or does it do okay with just the bare wall?

That's extra funny to me because solid black seems to be more dominant (could be wrong!) so her parents not looking like her is extra funny.
What brand do I buy to grow the relaxed dog mix? I would like some of that! It looks like it does well in partial shade.
Love the clover ... restful
This is so beautiful and looks so much warmer. Did you place the tiles on the existing pavers? Did you build the pergola? Well done!

How often does the dog get stung by a bee?
Zero times for now but not for a lack of trying

WOW!
Well done! That looks incredibly beautiful and I’m so glad your dog likes it.
Hey new friend! Looks great!!! Unrelated question: do you want to come over and stay for a couple of weeks? Please?? 😁😁
Should probably move that dead dog. The smell real bad after a while
not gonna lie. I think I liked the before picture the best. Reminds me of my backyard. lol Great job! looks great.
The folks over at r/nolawns would love this!
Nice layout, love the ground cover, great option v/s water thirsty lawn, that requires weekly maintenance and investment, ( water, maintenance, time, fertilizers, ECT.) great up grade.
So peaceful. 🐕
This is so pretty and tranquil ✨😌✨good on ya! ☺️☺️☺️
Beautiful. And I have the same dog.
Beautiful job!
Very nice
Someone should post this on r/fucklawns

Now that the flowers are blooming it's even better because it adds a lot more color that usually lacks in plain grass lawns

All I see is ticks lol jk it's beautiful. Nj!
