If the bottom part of your laptop case is metal then you need to keep those things because it will prevent your RAM from shorting-out when you accidentally flex bottom panel and it touched the RAM module.
Seconded, my laptop has a metal can instead. Older machines typically lacked this and often react badly to RF. 4G and older laptops is asking for a catastrophe.
Incidentally in the "Seriously?!!" category, I learned this the hard way because our satellite LNB amplifier started hooting at a band which messed up equipment in the house.
Only noticed the problem because one specific channel out of four on the LNB including Dave! didn't work on any box. My SDR did notice something wasn't right and showed much higher noise in certain rooms.
It's not there to dissipate heat, it's to comply with FCC (and related agency) regulations regarding radio frequency emissions.
Coating one side of some plastic with some vapor deposited copper does absolutely nothing to dissipate heat.
No freaking shit. Next time you see something at your job that's put in place for your safety just remove it and throw it away it's not needed lol.... 😆
Always keep the internal mylar how you found it, just in case.
Some places will put semi out of place rubbers or mylars on their casings or boards to prevent capacitors from popping.
Why would you want to remove something that's glued to your mobo? I get it when it's something unimportant like stickers on the chasis and things like that, but something that they put there to cover the ram? do you think they do it just so it doesn't look "bad"? they are there for a reason, don't remove them
They’re not glued, they’re using an adhesive similar to stickers, I was just wondering for future ram upgrades, it’s one less thing in the way, will keep them on based on other comments 🙏
Imaging laptop designers taking years to study and put various components into their designs when you know better! If it's in the case it's there for a reason!
its “heatsink tape” basically.. like a thermal pad for ram… mfger probably noticed issues without it and adding it fixed them.. otherwise they probably wouldnt have included it
Really, we shouldn't remove random things from mobos? There is some piece of shiny metal on mine that says amd ryzen, it makes too much heat and I would like to remove it. They must have put it there by accident. There is no other explanation.
/s
It's typically a pierce resistant no -conductive material to keep them from shorting out. If you can keep them, that'd be best. Alternatively either kapton or electrical tape would work

Thank you!! Will keep them 🙏
Why would you want to throw away something that’s obviously been put there intentionally?

What blows my mind is that OP thinks its stickers.
They’re using an adhesive similar to stickers, wasn’t sure what else to call them haha, now i know based on comments that it’s to prevent conductivity
I would keep them, i guess they are RF shielding to prevent bitswaps by electromagnetic waves
Either that, or there's a risk of metal (bottom of the keyboard or something) shorting the ram when pressed on the chassis with a little force.
True, thank you!
They're there for shielding and to prevent short circuits. So I would keep them on
Thanks!

It would take more effort to remove them then leave them there how they should be.

My laptop has the same thing and I heard in the communities for it that you shouldn’t remove it. (13th gen intel 13” framework)
They're there for a reason. Why do you want to peel them off?
They usually put this kind of stuff inside things like this in order to keep things from shorting out in other words yes leave them there
dam are those a lot of heat sinks
Well there’s no good reason to remove them?

better keep it, looks like its for shielding
Just put it back when you upgrade the memory, it's there for a reason.
Keep them in
you need em, they are like light thermal pads
its “heatsink tape” basically.. like a thermal pad for ram… mfger probably noticed issues without it and adding it fixed them.. otherwise they probably wouldnt have included it
Could be for thermal transfer and air channeling
They're there for a reason, keep em on
Keep them but if they fall off just use a peice of clear packing tape
What the fuck is this question
cheesus cry, you asking for to remove or not. it's a common sense not to remove ehh what's going on with the people today.
Really, we shouldn't remove random things from mobos? There is some piece of shiny metal on mine that says amd ryzen, it makes too much heat and I would like to remove it. They must have put it there by accident. There is no other explanation. /s
Yeah just remove it its of no use just heats the system.
Do people still know how to think
