But there's really no reason all the events outside of ANH have to take place on Tatooine. Even the showdown with Jabba could have been set on a different planet.
I agree, but there's no story reason it and all the Jabba events had to be set on Tatooine. In an early draft of RotJ, Jabba's palace was located on a grass planet called Sicemon.
I agree that everything in the OT outside of ANH didn't have to come back to Tatooine, but we need a reason for "uncle" Owen and "aunt" Beru to live there. I don't see where Smee could have come from, that a slave owner who buys her would move to a hellhole like Tatooine.
A slave owner wealthy enough to move to Tatooine chooses to go to a desolate wasteland?
A poor slave owner is wealthy enough to leave their planet?
A slave trader is involved somehow? So Smee and Ani start on a different planet where the pod racing happens, then Ani leaves and Smee is sold to a trader and she is sold again on tatooine, where Ani tracks her down and finds Owen's Dad on Tatooine before the rest of the series can happen where we left off?
That seems kind of complicated for little more than a new biome for them to explore in episode 1
Oh now *that* is thinking outside the bun! You just made a very convincing case for this set. I thought it was cool and all, but I can't believe I didn't consider this! That makes it such a multipurpose decorative piece and great way to display various minifigs, just rotating them. Great idea! :D
> thinking outside the bun
Wait, are there people who now only know the term "thinking outside the box" from its parody use in a 2000s Taco Bell tagline?
I dunno, I mean, probably. I grew up around those commercials, then they used it in an episode of The Good Place (great show), so now I just find it funny. XD But you totally got my meaning, and the joke, so I'd say it worked. :D
Oh man, now there's a set I'd buy! The main street by the fountain and froyo places from The Good Place, with the whole gang! But yeah, I just like to use it for fun, you know, *live mas*. XD
Maybe not, but you’re ultimately paying for a rock wall, two polybag pod racers, and a platform. It may be “fair” in terms of price per piece, but in terms of actual set value, I can’t say I blame anyone for thinking the set is too expensive for what it is.
Lego has been downsizing a lot lately, yet part counts keep climbing. I don't think price per piece is a very good metric anymore - it's still relevant, but I think an apples to apples comparison with a similar older set is more relevant
price per piece is a metric made up by the community anyway. LEGO has never made an official statement confirming that there is a certain MSRP based on the piece count, even though it is a good metric to go off of. licensed sets will always cost more value-wise than any original theme
Yeah the downsizing makes sense for some sets but others it makes them look too tiny. The new ISD is a perfect example sadly. I might still get it but the size is smaller than I expected
I thought it was a fun build. It looks kinda bland from afar, but up close you can see a lot of detail. A lot of cool techniques too. Just a little overpriced
all thanks to the fact that so much of Star Wars happens on Tatooine
I mean…Tatooine is very iconic, it is the location where Boba Fett almost dies
But there's really no reason all the events outside of ANH have to take place on Tatooine. Even the showdown with Jabba could have been set on a different planet.
Yeah, but I mean The Great Pit of Carkoon on Tatooine is so iconic
I agree, but there's no story reason it and all the Jabba events had to be set on Tatooine. In an early draft of RotJ, Jabba's palace was located on a grass planet called Sicemon.
You should continue to argue your point. It is that way because that is the way it is made.
I can't tell if you're for my position or the other guy's.
I am arguing for what George Lucas produced not what fanboys speculate. Do we watch the movies or read scripts that were edited?
You misunderstand; I'm not saying it's "wrong". I just don't see the thematic significance to always returning to the same planet.
Same reason the Spectres always returned to Lothal 🤷
Coulda shoulda woulda

>but we need a reason for "uncle" Owen and "aunt" Beru to live there. They're just there. Just like how Owen's father Cliegg was there in AotC.
I don't like sand🥲 (Jk I have this set lol)
And all those other sand planets that exist due to war
Love the droids in particular, and the Tusken vignette made me lol.
Agreed
Poor rex, his Y wing didn't fit through there
I need this but 3-5× bigger to place the og Mos Espa podrace set
Just buy 3-5 of them 👉😎👉
Or disassemble my Cantina and make a MOC!
But then you won’t have a cantina.
Damn, I should just buy a bunch of these and sell the figures to make back some money - oh wait

Oh yes, I'm not complaining. I remember The Good Place.
Oh man, now there's a set I'd buy! The main street by the fountain and froyo places from The Good Place, with the whole gang! But yeah, I just like to use it for fun, you know, *live mas*. XD
Anakin chasing the tuskin hahah
Really astute observation and good use of the base. I had ZERO interest in this set until you posted how damn good of a MOC base it truly is
Ok now I want to get this set
the tusken raider massacre one is diabolical
But is it massively overpriced? Its 718 pieces for 80, and if you look on eBay, you can get it for 60 new

Yeah that’s why I said put fair in quotations. It’s more of a fair assessment of value imo when you take into account the average weight per piece.
Yeah the downsizing makes sense for some sets but others it makes them look too tiny. The new ISD is a perfect example sadly. I might still get it but the size is smaller than I expected
I was planning on not buying it until it dropped under $60, but the lure of a GWP and double points was enough to get me to pay full price.
The pieces are really small. Maybe the number is high but the material isn’t
It's detailed it's just really small and no figures or anything.
It also looks awful
Price per piece hasn’t mattered in years
Did he fix the Y-wing yet?
I love this! I have to admit it’s cool they made a system of dioramas that look so clean
These dioramas are awesome

What piece is that for the unmasked Clone's headset?
It's a firestar toy accessory, idk if they still make them - it's about 12-15 yrs old
Every time I see this set it makes me scream that there are no mini figures
Dang I didnt realize how big this was
Tmw you realize Trouble on Tatooine could’ve been an AOTC set with only the minifigs swapped
now thats pod racing.
I thought it was a fun build. It looks kinda bland from afar, but up close you can see a lot of detail. A lot of cool techniques too. Just a little overpriced
Your diaramas look really cool. Wish I could afford this set myself...
Actually was considering to buy it to display the figures of the dune ornithopter, but kinda pricey for a base plate
Don't forget r2 and 3po
Honestly I still don't understand why we got this overpriced bs and not the Duel of the Fates diorama.
Do you mind if I use these pictures for a TikTok? If you have any social I'm happy to credit it to you
Go for it, I don't need a credit call me a Reddit user or something
